Clive Staples Lewis was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a Fellow and Tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954. He was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract thousands of new readers every year. His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include Mere Christianity, Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the universally acknowledged classics The Chronicles of Narnia. To date, the Narnia books have sold over 100 million copies and been transformed into three major motion pictures.

Zacznę od tego, że Narnia ma cudowny klimat. Jest to tak niezwykłe miejsce, a mieszkańcy tego miejsca są cudowni. W tej kwestii czyta się bardzo przyjemnie, ale moim zdaniem akcja idzie za szybko. Nie możemy się oswoić z jakąkolwiek sytuacją, bo idziemy dalej. Przez Edmunda miałam ochotę rzucić książką. Nie trawię tego bohatera. Zakończenie do zniesienia choć wolałabym inne, ale rozumiem, że są dalsze części i ma to jakiś cel. Polecam młodzszym czytelnikom, ale myślę, że starsze osoby też mogą tę książkę przeczytać.

Stap door de kast en ontdek een wereld vol magie, moed en wonderen. In De kronieken van Narnia van C.S. Lewis komen goed en kwaad tegenover elkaar te staan in een tijdloos avontuur. Met Aslan aan de zijde van de helden ontvouwt zich een verhaal vol hoop, vriendschap en verbeeldingskracht dat generaties lezers al 75 jaar weet te betoveren.

Mijn ervaring:
Geweldig! Wat bijzonder om na al die jaren opnieuw af te reizen naar Narnia. Als kind heb ik dit boek meerdere keren gelezen en liet ik me telkens betoveren door de magie en avonturen. Het voelde alsof ik zélf door de kast stapte en in die wonderlijke wereld terechtkwam. Nu, jaren later, is het een unieke ervaring om het opnieuw te lezen en er niet alleen dezelfde verwondering in terug te vinden, maar ook nieuwe boodschappen en levenslessen te ontdekken.

De leeservaring voelde vertrouwd en nostalgisch, maar tegelijk fris en meeslepend. C.S. Lewis schrijft zó beeldend en vlot dat ik me opnieuw volledig verloor in de wereld van Narnia. De zeven verhalen, vol spanning, symboliek en indrukwekkend uitgewerkte personages, grepen me meteen. Vooral Aslan blijft mijn favoriet. Zijn wijsheid, kracht en warmte geven het verhaal zoveel diepgang en tillen het ver boven een ‘gewoon’ spannend fantasyavontuur uit. Wel zie je kleine tekstuele veranderingen en zijn dingen net wat moderner gemaakt en frisser verwoord.

Wat me vooral raakt, is hoe tijdloos dit verhaal is. Als kind raakte ik vooral in de ban van de magie, de pratende dieren en de avonturen. Nu ik dit boek lees als volwassene, vallen juist de diepere lagen meer op: thema’s als moed, hoop, geloof en het maken van keuzes komen duidelijk naar voren en geven het verhaal een blijvende waarde.

De kronieken van Narnia is een absolute klassieker die iedereen gelezen zou moeten hebben. Het is een verhaal voor jong en oud. Het is echt een betoverend en magisch avontuur dat je grijpt én bijblijft. Het is een verhaal dat je telkens opnieuw kunt beleven en dat je meeneemt naar een wereld vol verwondering en hoop. Voor mij is dit een boek waar ik altijd naar terug zal keren, alsof die kastdeur nooit helemaal gesloten is.

I love the world of Narnia and it takes one's imagination on a whole new level. The first three books in the series are amazing but my all time favorite is The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. It is captivating and magical.

moja opinia: Pierwsza część serii, i zarazem część do której mam olbrzymi sentymeny. Od tej historii zaczyna się cała historia i to właśnie od niej zaczęła się moja przygoda z samodzielnym czytelnictwem. Mimo sentymentu, nie mogę dać 5 gwiazdek. Ma elementy które osobiście drażniły mnie jako czytelnika dorosłego, które dla młodszego czytelnika raczej nie będą widoczne na pierwszy rzut oka.

Now your probably wondering way I have rated it just three stars and in a moment I will explain it all. This book I'd say is actually a great book! So why the three stars? Well the reason is, as a 10 year old child this book is a bit confusing. Because with all the different characters, language and creatures I find it hard to keep track with the book. So I think I will give it another go in a couple of years.

skończyłam pierwsze trzy tomy Opowieści z Narnii - wszystkie, które zostały zekranizowane, i muszę przyznać że jestem większą fanką filmów, które mają niesamowity klimat i są naprawdę wierne w stosunku do książek, ale mimo wszystko super się bawiłam. nie mogę się doczekać, aż zobaczę co zdarzy się po akcji 3 tomu, bo zawsze byłam tego ogromnie ciekawa.

I read and reviewed both of the books collected here separately, so this is basically just for my own records. As always, the rating's an average. Prince Caspian only got two stars from me, because even as a kid I never liked it that much. I've always been sympathetic to Susan, and this is where Lewis starts to send her down his mean little path, to end with terrible effect in the dreadful conclusion to Narnia, The Last Battle. (Though maybe Susan getting shot of it, and of her increasingly priggish family, is for the best. Be free, Susan!!!) The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, on the other hand, was a surprise reread - when I first read it, as a child, I thought it was pretty average compared to some of the other books in the series, but I found myself enjoying it much more as an adult. It's got some lovely imagery, and I always appreciate that.

Uwielbiam świat wykreowany w tej książce. Pamiętam gdy byłam mała to oglądając film bardzo chciałam się przenieść do takiej Narni. Książke skończyłam niedawno tom 1 i bawiłam się przy niej wspaniale, szybko sie ją czytało. Lecz jeśli miałabym wybierać książke czy film to wybrałabym jednak ekranizacje. Myślę że gdybym była znowu dzieckiem i przeczytała ,,Opowieści z Narni" to wywołałoby to na mnie owiele większe emocje niż teraz. Jednak dalej historia czwórki rodzeństwa i tajemniczej krainy pozostaje wspaniale wykreowana przez C.S Lewisa 💓

Historia opowiada o rodzeństwie, które przez wojnę przeprowadza się do pewnego profesora… Łucja odkrywa starą szafę. Okazuje się jednak, że jest to wejście do innego świata - Narni…

Czytając to chciałam wrócić do wczesnego dzieciństwa. Narnia to książka, z którą zaczynałam czytać. Sama opowieść jest dość krótka, ale cały cykl ma aż 7 części. Jest to raczej lekka książka, mimo to bardzo ciekawa.

Pierwsza część bardzo mnie zachęciła do czytania dalej tej serii.

WRITING To me, it feels like CS Lewis invited us over to tell us a story. So we loose some immersion, and gain in a certain kind of cuddly feel.

CONCLUSION I like it! These book were my childhood, and so much fun. < 3 However, if plot holes bother you, these stories could get a little frustrating at times.

These are however, just my feelings about the work; other may well interpret it differently.

Trochę zmęczyło mnie czytanie tej książki. Głównie dla tego że widać iż jest to książka dla dzieci. Same opowieści są ciekawe , natomiast jak dla mnie trochę zbyt uproszczone (praktycznie nie mamy akcji).
