This book was such a delight to read. Typically when I see fat representation in the media I'm usually just excited it's there, and don't always consider the conatations of what this representation is trying to convey. Sarah Grant evaluated a multitude of different characters and their story lines and provided commentary on what the character is conveying to the audience.
It's clear from reading this book that these characters have been truly thought about and discussed at length, as there isn't always a clear box of what is 'bad' Vs 'good' in representation. This book felt like a lover letter for any fat person who has struggled to find themselves represented in the media they consume, it was definitely worth the read.
Braw, brave and brilliant book by Sarah Grant. Cutting commentary on pop culture tropes and exhilarating, original ideas that will really inspire you to think again about the stories we consume.
