***I received an ARC exchange for an honest review***

I loved this short, heart warming story about two people who become friends which in turn find themselves falling for one another.

Maisie is a very broken soul having tragically lost her husband and her unborn child in a tornado two years previous. Maisie does not allow herself get close to anybody, and keeps herself busy working as a waitress in a small town diner.

This is until Ryan Tucker walks through the doors of the diner and becomes addicted to more than just their homemade apple pie. Ryan also has had his fair share of heartache, being left by his fiancée six months previous, he has moved to this small town to make a new life for himself. I loved both characters and the way they seemed to heal each others traumatic and heart breaking past, so that they could both move on to be with each other, to love and be loved.

I adored the way Ryan was so determined to put a smile on Maisie's face(he certainly put one on mine). I found myself sighing and swooning over Ryan, as he was just so thoughtful, caring and dam sexy with it. I admired the way that Ryan never gave up on Maisie knowing how hard it was for her to trust him, and to admit to herself she deserved to be happy and in love.

This is the first book I have read by Christy Newton and can honestly say I loved her style of writing, and look forward to reading more of her books.

This is a short, sweet, emotional love story! Christy captivates us with 2 souls who have suffered heartache but find friendship with one another. ;)
I enjoyed the dialogue, friendship, traditional values, respect, kindness and support Ryan gives Maisie. He truly is a wonderful man inside and out! (I wish more men in real life could be like this man’s character!!))
I enjoyed Maisie’s growth, ability to believe in Ryan’s friendship and (despite the struggle initially) come to terms with liking Ryan.

It is sweet to watch how both characters flourish when around each other and all the sadness and pain they carry … just disappears.

But when a certain person comes unannounced and unwelcomed, opens the door and leaves one with the wrong impression and running away…. Can trust be regained, can one listen to the truth, find out the answers or does the person hop on a plane and leave forever??

I so enjoyed this short love story. It intrigues you, pulls at your heart strings and makes you wishing/hoping a HEA can happen for both Ryan and Maisie!

Well done, Christy on your second book! I look forward to reading many more books by you!

Begin Again by Christy Newton

Jane Hunt Writer First Steps

Begin Again is a sweet, poignant small town romance which is a pleasure to read.

Maisie is an island cut off from the world and her family as she grieves for the loss of husband and unborn child in a horrific tornado two years previously. She works long hours at the local diner and lives in her sister's basement. She has little hope of enjoying life and finding love again. Physically scarred from the tornado she shies away from intimacy but it is her mental scars and self loathing she must overcome to live again.

Emotionally damaged Ryan Tucker moves to the small town in Indiana for a new start as the local exotic animal vet. His love of apple pie draws him to the local diner where he meets Maisie a beautiful woman with sad green eyes. He vows to make her smile and the charming romance begins.

Maisie attracts empathy and loyalty. The internal conflict is believable and increases your support of Maisie in her quest to overcome the past. Ryan is charming and caring and every inch the dashing hero but as the story progresses you realise he isn't perfect either. This increases his charm and makes him real.

The support cast of characters in the diner and Maisie and Ryan's respective families enhance the story and reinforce the ethos of small town living. The animals featured are characters in their own right and give the story instant appeal.

A plot with numerous twists interwoven with well-developed characters makes you care and keeps you turning the pages.

The traditional values of this story are given a contemporary slant and reflect the distinctive voice of the author it is easy to read and hard to put down...

BEGIN AGAIN
Where do I begin with this review? I really loved this book, super easy read, and quick too! I sat down to read this book and in less than two days I was finished, I just couldn’t put it down.
Every book I have been reading is the girl pinning after some guy, and mostly in unrealistic situations.
This book, was not quite the same. The girl in this story Maisie Scott isn’t ready for life or love, in walks Ryan Tucker. Both of the main characters in this story have had some unfortunate things happen to them but Ryan isn’t going to let that stand in his way. Maisie isn’t so sure she is ready or able to move on.
The tenderness between these two makes you want to cheer for their relationship. It is a classic love story, with an added dose of moving on included. I found myself saying “awwwww” at certain points in this book, and even caught myself becoming choked up a bit at some points. There are surprises all throughout this story, with a heartwarming one in the end, which makes you, believe that there are still good people in this world.

I completely enjoyed reading this book, and would recommend it to anyone who loves a story with hope, joy, love, and critters.

Maisie is living with her sister after her loss, and is working in a diner where she is not happy but content. She has been there for two and a half years, and has her regular customers and is saving to buy her own house so that her family will see that she has moved on. When she isn’t moving on fast enough her sister tried to help her out by getting her a pet hamster. She reluctantly takes the pet and ends up falling in love with it.

Ryan who just moved to town to start an exotics vet clinic, meets Maisie when he stops by the diner for apple pie. Ryan was feeling homesick but felt much better after seeing Maisie, and having some of the wonderful apple pie from the diner. Ryan has a huge heart, and a secret, that he isn’t ready to share just yet with Maisie.

This book stole my heart with its small town charm and I willing give Begin Again a 4 star.

Christy Newton writes the sweetest and most heartfelt love stories that I have come across in a long time. I fell in love with her writing when I read Trust Again and now I’m even deeper in love. This is the story of Ryan and Maisie.

Maisie is waiting tables at a local diner to save up enough money for a down payment for her own house. She has been living with her sister and her husband. While she doesn’t mind living with them, she longs to have something her own. The past two years have been very hard on her after great tragedy struck her world. She thought she’d never love again and felt empty inside.

And here comes Ryan! He is new to town. Ryan is an exotic animal veterinarian. He decided the small town was perfect since there wasn’t a veterinary anywhere close by. He is single having just come out of a harsh breakup. When he is encouraged to try the local dinner out for their delicious pie, he finds more than the dessert to pique his interests. He is immediately smitten by the red headed waitress with the green eyes, our very own Maisie.

I have never met a Ryan in real life. A man with saintly patience for a woman he is falling head over heels in love with. He is determined to break through to her and never gives up on her no matter how strongly she tries to push him away. Ryan is very SWOON worthy. If I had a daughter, I would hope she could find her a Ryan in the world.

This love story isn’t without bumps along with way. There are trials and tribulations these two have to face. Ryan’s ex…I wanted to punch her in the face! It was truly an amazing story. I can’t wait to real more from Christy Newton. She has a way of pulling you into the story and rooting for her characters.

This was such a lovely, heartwarming story. Two broken people – one very broken – finding happiness together and getting a happy ending. It was a really good read and I enjoyed it.

In the beginning, Maisie is very withdrawn and Ryan wants to help draw her out of that shell. She is a very sweet young woman and he is a genuinely nice guy. It’s great when Maisie does finally start to relax around him. Watching their relationship grown and develop left me with a feel good feeling.

There was an interesting twist along the way with Ryan’s. It showed what a strong, caring man Ryan really was and I’m glad it wrapped up like it did. That same twist really helped Maisie open up and grow. It was nice to see her slowly but surely making progress in opening herself up to a future with Ryan. Later, there was a moment when Maisie tells Ryan fully about her past and herself, I really like how it all played out and how Ryan just loved her and accepted her.

I thought there was a nice pace in the beginning but then it slowed a bit in the middle for me. Certain spots towards the end felt rushed, like it jumped from one part to the next without a transition.

This story is very much a contemporary romance and I enjoyed it. I felt invested and was thrilled that they got their happily ever after. Overall I felt this was a sweet and loving story. It’s nice to have happy feeling and a smile on your face when you finish a book!

Maisie lives her life just surviving day by day. After losing her husband and child she has nothing to look forward to and no heart left to try and begin again.

The minute Ryan sees Maisie that is it for him. She is the one. He makes it his daily goal to try and get her to smile for him. Every day he shows up knowing in his heart that one day she will be his.

When complications from Ryan's past show up it leaves Maisie reeling and ready to reevaluate her feelings for Ryan .

The author takes you on a journey of love and losses and all you can do is hold on for the ride. It is a very emotional book that has you really feeling for these characters as you follow along in the chapters of their lives. This is the first book in the series.

I would invite you to take this journey! And download Book Two!

First, I would like to thank Christy Newton for providing me this book so I may bring you this review.

Begin again by Christy Newton was such cute romantic story about two broken souls starting over again. This book was full with love, loss, tragedy, exotic animals, learning to let go and opening up your heart again.

After reading this book I have a serious craving for apple pie!! Maisie worked at the Diner where Ryan became a regular at. He could just walk in and Maise would know he wanted apple pie and milk. However, some days he would surprise her and order blueberry. I could picture Ryan and Maisie at the diner vividly.

I found Ryan’s profession as a Vet to small Exotic Animals unique. I have read my fair share of books in my time. However, this is the first time this was a character’s profession.

My heart went out to Maise for what happened to her late husband and her child. I totally understood why she was so guarded around Ryan.

One passage in the book that I really enjoyed was:

This is the reason I didn’t want to get attached again. How may times can a broken heart be shattered into smaller pieces? Her mind rushed back to the tiny pink face. The tiny fingers. She shoved more of the sweet dessert into her mouth. Was Ryan a dad? He seemed so sincere. Whipping her eyes, she stood up to rinse her sticky hands in the creek about a yard away. Never had she eaten a whole pie by herself, especially with her bare hands. Desperate times.

Begin again by Christy Newton gets a 4 out of 5 hearts!

Wow! What a sweet heartwarming story. I didn’t put it down until I was done. It was well written and the pace was perfect for the subject. It never felt drawn out or rushed.

Maisie is a young woman still suffering from the loss of her husband and child after two years. It isn’t until Ryan comes into the diner a few times that she starts to come alive again. It was hard for her to face falling for someone again. The fact that Maisie didn’t feel she deserved it and the feelings of guilt all mixed up with hope and budding love came through loud and clear. As a mother and wife her pain was palpable and believable.

What can I say about Ryan? I love Ryan! Did I mention he went to the diner everyday just to see Maisie? He is the most patient man. Willing to wait for Maisie to not only be ready for a relationship but for her to tell him what happened to her. Ryan was there for her every step of the way. Ryan had to deal with his own past but his came back with a nasty vengeance. He dealt with it the best he could and with a firm hand.

I recommend this to anyone looking for a sweet romance that will leave you smiling.

4 stars for this story of tragic loss and heartache that eventually turned into a HEA. This is the story of friendship and eventual love between Maisie Scott and Ryan Tucker. Maisie is scared and heartbroken after an accident 2 years ago leaves her a widow and causes her to lose her unborn child. Maisie doesn't live anymore she just exists by working at a Ginger Snaps diner and staying in her sister's basement. Maisie doesn't even smile until the day a new customer walks in and quickly becomes a regular. The new "regular" is an exotics veterinarian that works down the street and comes in for a slice of pie every night. Dr. Ryan Tucker left Illinois and moved his entire life and practice 3 hours away to Pleasantville Indiana to get a fresh start after his fiance of 12 hours up and left with only words on a sticky note that "she couldn't do it". Ryan was not looking for love at all but the minute he walked in to Ginger Snaps diner he was a goner, Maisie took his breath away and he knew instantly that she was someone special. After months and months of back and forth these too got there stuff together and figured it out. Very sweet read about love, loss and healing and how sometimes the love of a lifetime can come around twice.

After losing her husband and her unborn child in a tornado, Maisie is living with her sister and brother-in-law. She is content enough working at a diner, as long as she is too busy to remember that day. Dr. Ryan Tucker has moved into town, escaping his own painful past. He knows what he wants as soon as he sees Maisie’s sad face.

This was a sweet romance between two people scarred by their previous relationships. This book was an emotional roller-coaster for me. I lost a child to Hurricane Charley back in 2004, so, when Ms. Newton and I first spoke of me doing some reviews for her, she expressed her concern for me reading this. I took it on, knowing that I would be facing my own memories and traumas. I’m glad I did. I did cry several times while reading, but I also laughed so hard I had those tears as well. My son and husband were actually making me laugh even more, when I was watching their reactions and listening to them laughing at me. The laughter and tears were perfectly balanced in this tale of finding and claiming true love.

This is such a sweet story! The author did a great job developing the relationship between the two main characters, Maisie and Ryan. We know that Maisie is broken and Ryan has a secret in his past. As the story unfolds we gain more insight into each characters past and become more and more enamored with them.

The author took her time unfolding their relationship. It wasn’t rushed and completely fit the story. It kept me rooting for them but also worried that either would get hurt again. I wanted Ryan and Maisie to get together but I also felt their needs to protect themselves from further heartache.

I don’t want to give anything away but I have to tell you that this story had me feeling a range of emotions: sorrow, happiness, excitement, and nervousness. There were scenes that were heartwarming and heart aching, as well as surprising in both good and bad ways.

If you are looking for a sweet, clean, NA romance that will have you experience a range of emotions, the check this book out!

This short story made my heart ache at first and then the sweetness of the story gave me a happiness that made my broken heart melt. The synopsis starts out by saying, “What if one night changed your life forever?” That is exactly what happens to Maisie our heroine. Her life turns upside down and rips her apart in just a matter of minutes one fateful night and the only thing she can do to stay sane is work as much as possible to keep those memories away. Her life consists of work and home even if it is her sister’s home until an impossibly handsome exotic animal veterinarian, Ryan Tucker, moves into town and waltzes into the diner she works at and ever so slowly mends the broken heart she was left with.
I cannot begin to tell you how this book gave me so many feel-good moments. The heart breaking moments are made up for with all the sweetness and leaves you saying aww so many times. This is a great, quick read for anyone looking for a heartwarming story! I give this 4 smooches!!!

Apple pie, exotic pets, tornadoes- This is a sweet little slice of romance that takes you through some twists and turns with a few fuzzy feelings along the way.
Begin Again raises the question of whether two people burned or broken in the past can work through the storms to find their way to a happy ending. Genuine fear, heartache, hope and perseverance comes through the characters in this book. The main character, Maisie is believable and heartbreaking. Her love interest, Ryan is patient, kind, a doctor and gorgeous- he does have a few human moments to balance out all the sweetness.
The mysterious diner-man in the ending felt almost thrown in as an afterthought to me. I didn't want any distractions during the whirlwind wrap up!

This is the second book I've read by Christy Newton. I really enjoy her descriptive treatment of the environments her characters live in, it's easy to get a vivid, movie-like image in your mind of each scene. I look forward to her next book!

This was a sweet and clean romance. You could feel the connection between Ryan and Maisie even without it being all about sex. I left it to my imagination. =)The story line will beak your heart. I felt drawn in and kept wanting to read and find out what happens next. Maisie lost everything that mattered most to her in one horrible stormy night. Her unborn child and her husband. She is left shattered and trying her best to pick up the pieces. Years later she still has no hope of ever feeling a glimmer of happiness until Veterinarian Ryan Tucker moves into town. When he sees Maisie for the first time he sees her hurt and wants to do anything to make her smile. Ryan may be just what she needs to start mending her broken heart.  Their journey is filled with secrets and their own pasts, they both have to face. From friendship to love and so much more. I enjoyed reading their story.

Christy Newton has written a wonder novel about two strong characters who find their way to each other, in spite of their past baggage they bring to the relationship.

Ryan is a rare hero that is a good guy, but not a push-over. He means well, but doesn't always do exactly the right thing at the right time. In short, he's a real life guy that doesn't leave unrealistic expectations of men for single ladies out there, and reminds the reader that good guys do still exist.

Maisie is a broken woman just trying to get through each day without the painful reminders of her past. She isn't looking for love, and instead finds a friend in Ryan. Of course the reader is rooting for them to become a couple all the way through, but knowing what keeps her back from loving again, it is easy to understand why she finds it difficult to take the next step.

This is a fun and short read and I can't wait to read more by the author!

All Maisie wants is to get through her days without breaking down, she lost everything is the twister and is barely getting by even though its been two years.

Ryan was betrayed by the woman he loved and now is determined to get a fresh start in a new town. And getting the beautiful redheaded waitress to smile has just become his mission. He sees her sadness and as he begins to pull back her layers he sees a future he's determined to have. If only she'll let him in.

Maisie has allot of sadness in her, but as the story unfoldes we see as she begins to open up and live life and you get excited for her for every step she takes.

Ryan is a sweetie with a heart of gold, he won't let his ex come in the way of his future and will do whatever it takes to prove to Maisie how much he cares.

This is a story about opening up even after tragidy has struck and about continuing to live. Good short read.

Two of the most down to earth characters having to deal with real life ordeals.

Maisie has to deal with the unbearable loss of her family. She is able to overcome her terrible loss with the help of family, friends including a few furry ones. When she is able to find a real love again she is overcome with joy.

Ryan as well has to deal with a great loss to him. At the time was unbearable but over time becomes maybe one of the best things for him as he was able to move and meet Maisie.

As Ryan and Maisie help each other to mend their hearts their friends and a special man look on. The Ginger Snap café and the friends Masie has there will turn out to be amazing for the surprise in store for each of them.

I loved the easy read that this book was and can't wait to start the next book!

Maisie is a sweet, lovable, young woman who has lived through an unimaginable tragedy. She is just going through the day by day motions trying to survive but not really living. Ryan is a handsome, charming veterinarian who has had his own share of heartache. Ryan makes Maisie come alive again and begins to heal the heart she thought was broken forever. Will they get their happily ever after? Or will the past keep them apart forever?

This was a really good, sweet read about second chances. The characters were relatable and well-developed. If you are looking for a really good, heartwarming contemporary read I recommend this book you will not be disappointed. Nice job Ms. Newton.

Circumstances bring a true loving hero into her life. This story is the growing and acceptance of new love and beginnings. The writing style is so smooth and enjoyable. I couldn't put it down. I became so attached to the characters. Each one was well developed and provided major support for the storyline. Impressive details and descriptive elements which allow for development and understanding of story. Well written and truly romantic(clean). Cant wait to read more from author. AndreaAH

Begin Again was a touching story about a woman named Maisie Scott who lost her

husband and unborn child in a tornado.

She is trying to pick up the pieces of her life living with her sister and working in a

diner.

One day the new vet in town Ryan Tucker wanders into the diner and her heart

starts to beat again.

Ryan Tucker is in a new town trying to start over and runs into the beautiful

waitress at the diner down the street from his clinic. He starts up a friendship with

her and realizes that Maisie is the woman he has been looking for all his life.

Their relationship is full of ups and downs and they both have paths they need to let

go of.

This was a touching love story about a second chance at love. It is a great book!
