After moving from stuffy Washington D.C. to laid back San Diego, Samantha Smith hopes to shed her troubled past and reinvent herself as a freshman at San Diego University.

Her parents are pressuring her to major in Accounting, because it’s the safe thing to do. But Samantha really wants to try something more adventurous, and secretly dreams of ditching the business major to study Art instead.

10 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This book blew my mind!
My thoughts are all over the place right now. So I'm trying my best to let it all out.
*Takes a deep breath* Right let's get down to business
I loved soo many aspects of this book. The character development and descriptions were wonderful. I could create a vivid picture of them in my mind. The plot didn't feel rushed or clichéd. I felt like I was literally in this story and I didn't know what would have happened next. Sam and Christos were amazing characters, but I think that her friends made the book even more Awesome.
I mean seriously. I feel like such a kid for saying this but she watches Adventure Time! The book already got 5 stars right then and there :P
I enjoyed every single moment of this book and I wish that it had more pages ! I admit that there were some times that I seriously wanted to slap Sam but the there were others that I understood what she was feeling and why she felt that way .
In the beginning of the book I had a love hate relationship with Adonis . One minute he's sending mixed signals to her , then the next minute he's being all flirty and just ridiculously awesome . Then as the book progressed he grew on me and I started to develop a book boyfriend crush :D He is just perfect and he's soo considerate of her feelings . I'm happy that he didn't rush her into anything .
I also loved the fact that the author didn't full the book with a bunch of pointless sex scenes. All the steamy scenes were written tastefully and not too vulgar .
I completely loved the fact that the book was soo funny. I didn't expect the funny senses .
E.g. When Sam teased Christos middle of art class and he got a boner. I died from laughing ^_^
Like I said before my thoughts are all over the place so I hope that I got most of them out there. It might take a few days for me to get over the fact of how good this book is.
I'm counting down the months for the sequel :D

2 Thumbs up to Mr. Devon Hartford

!!!WARNING: MIGHT BE SOME SLIGHT SPOILERS!!!

Fearless was very much different from what I thought it would be - but in a totally good way. I think the author has definitely found his calling and I was extremely impressed how good this book was especially since it was his first. Judging by the cover I was thinking this was going to be your average badboy with lots of hot sex and a little story thrown in to fill the chapters up with and I was way off. Don't get me wrong, there were some pretty hot scenes but the book was just so much more than that. I've seen a few reviews that just didn't like Sam a whole lot or thought she was weak and I have to disagree. I totally get Samantha and understand exactly where she's coming from. I didn't think she was weak at all. She was just starved for affection. The past combined with her parents never really openly showing her love or encouragement were the reasons she was like she was. Yes she had a bit of a jealous streak but who doesn't? I mean if I was a chick and was going out with Adonis I'd probably be jealous too. But I liked the fact that she knew she was being unreasonable and even stopped herself so many times from making a comment or a scene. And honestly Adonis comes across as a bit of a manwhore when she first meets him so who could blame her for thinking the worst. Of course once she got to know him she constantly fought against her jealousy. She still had problems though. Because of her past she didn't feel that it was fair for her to enjoy life or to have love and the only love she'd ever really experienced turned out disastrous for her. In some ways she was very mature but in others she was still very much that sixteen year old that she'd been when everything changed. The ending alone proves how incredibly strong she is.

I love people who create for a living whether it's music, writing, painting, poetry, etc. The fact that Adonis is such a great artist really enhances the story and of course there's Sam who couldn't even recognize her own beauty much less the talent within her and I really enjoyed watching Adonis help to ignite that spark of creativity within her. Adonis was great, he was protective of Sam, kind, caring, good looking, could fight but never started trouble. As tough as he was it was nice to see that he also had a tender side to him and wasn't afraid to show his emotions or to cry on Sam's shoulder.

There were just so many stories within this story and I felt that it gave it a lot of depth. The supporting characters were awesome too. Every scene Romeo was in was a blast and Sam's best friend was the type of friend we should all be so lucky to have. The author did a great job of capturing Sam as a person and showing the story from her perspective. The art and mentoring were very well done. I really can't wait to read more. There was just so much going on that my mind is still whirling in a very good way. I think Devon Hartford knocked it out of the ballpark with this one and I can't wait to see if Samantha can be truly fearless.

description

First and foremost I want to thank Devon Hartford for my arc copy of his first novel; but I honestly feel the novel needs work. Even though there were SO many things that didn’t work for me in this story, the overall story and twist was actually very clever.

Samantha Smith is living and attending college in San Diego. Samantha is majoring in accounting but dreams of being an artist. She has been hiding from an event in her past which constantly creeps up through her thoughts and nightmares.

”How the hell was I ever going to be anything more than an accountant? Sam Smith, Pipe Dreamer. Sigh…

On the way to her first day of class, a hot guy on a Ducanti saves her from a crazy road raged man. The same hot biker walks into her art class as the male nude model…Adonis. (Names in the book didn’t work for me Adonis, Romeo, etc.)

Samantha is hot for Christos “Adonis” Manos. Adonis happens to be in the graduate program but hides a past that has yet to be explained… Adonis wants to mentor Samantha and thus their relationship begins.

”Which was more important to me? Art mentor or hot boyfriend? A career I actually wanted, or this amazing man? Could I have both? Or would a relationship interfere with the coaching?

Adonis or Christos which I prefer to use, falls in love with Samantha and lets her into his painful past (He cries, full blown sobbing jags like 3 times about his past---really?) but Samantha struggles to do the same while Adonis breaks down her walls.

Samantha consumes more ice cream than any fictional character that I have read to date.

description

Mean girls at school that want Christos to themselves…

”She should really do something about that dishwater hair of hers. She looks like a chambermaid.” The brunette continued.”

I mean is that a slam? Dishwater hair? Chambermaid?

Anyway, who knew that San Diego is as dangerous as portrayed in this story, drive-by shootings and scary bikers lurking at local diners.

On the positive side, Christos’ mentoring was well done as was his modeling. I found him to be sweet and interesting.

I'm glad Samantha made peace with her demons and hope she can stand up to her parents and pursue her dreams.

”Samantha,
You are more than you realize. Discover how far you can go by exploring your passions. Dream big. Don’t let anyone stop you from fulfilling your wildest desires. Be Fearless.”~ Christos”

Overall, the concept made for a decent read. I strongly feel that some editing would greatly benefit this book.

This is a new adult coming of age style novel, definitely aimed at a readership in the under 30 age bracket. We have Samantha Smith, a young girl carrying heavy emotional baggage, moving all the way across the country from DC to start college in San Diego. She’s hoping to leave her painful past behind and make a fresh start in the California sunshine.

Her first day really doesn’t go as planned as she spills coffee all over herself in the car, causes a traffic jam and ensues the wrath of a red-faced, gold Mercedes driving fuckwit who spews obscenities at her. She’s lucky enough to be rescued by a knight in shining leather gloves who just happened to be passing by on his motorbike and will turn out to be the hottest guy on campus!

Samantha is a sweet heroine – she’s being forced to major in accounting, a plan her very conventional parents have made for her, but she dreams of being an artist. She’s hiding a deep emotional trauma that she hopes she’s left behind in DC where she attempted to bury it beneath the guise of an emo/goth and by drowning herself in a sea of ice-cream. Samantha definitely has issues – you won’t like her all the time, she does sometimes behave like a bitch and she will drive you crazy but you do see her flaws and will empathise with her when you finally understand her past. The big reveal of all that trauma is a long time coming and I spent most of the novel trying, and failing, to guess what had happened.

Her ‘Motorknight’ in shining leathers really is the epitome of a badboy campus Lothario – he’s drop-dead gorgeous, has a panty-melting smile and has all the perfect sorority girls draping themselves all over him. He’s, covered in mysterious ink and is actually quite into Samantha much to the disgust of the Perfect Plastic Brigade! His behaviour at first put me right off him, he’s far too cock-sure of himself and egotistical but, like Samantha, he’s hiding a wealth of emotional pain beneath that confident exterior and, as we get to know him, I grew to really like him.

The whole novel is funny, sassy, whip-smart and will have you grinning as you read it. Both of the central couple’s history is quite heart-breaking and you really do find yourself willing them to get together and just be happy and screaming with frustration at the things that they say and do. They’ll drive you mad as you fall in love with them. There’s a lot of humour here too and when Samantha is caught somewhere she shouldn’t be – she comes out with this whole gopher speech that really had me giggling!!

“Did you just get here?” he asked.

“Ah, yeah, a minute ago,” I stammered.

“What were you doing around the side of the house?”

Caught. “Uhh, I thought I saw a gopher.”

He frowned skeptically. “We don’t get a lot of gophers around here.”

“You can never be too careful. Once they get a foothold,” I shook my head dramatically, “they’re a bitch to get rid of.”

Gophers!! Yeah, right! The book is full of humour like this. The author does a fantastic job of recreating campus life although I will say that the background characters were fairly stereotypical plastic fantastic bitches rather reminiscent of the movie, Mean Girls. It’s a great debut from Devon Hartford and, even though there’s not a major cliffy at the end, the story is as yet unfinished and will continue in Reckless and Painless.

There was a lot to love about this book as it was packed full of emotion, humor and interesting characters. The story kept me guessing and i was pleasantly surprised by how it turned out. There were a lot of good one liners, i laughed out loud more than a few times. I liked it, i would recommend it & i would read more by this author.

Unfortunately, this was another DNF for me--at approximately 60%.

I just couldn't get in to the story or the characters. It started out okay I suppose, but the more I read the more I didn't like.

Sam has moved from DC to San Diego to escape her past--frankly I am kind of tiring of the damaged heroine storyline. On her way to classes her first day Sam gets involved in a road rage incident, only to be rescued by a hot guy on a motorcycle--meet Adonis.

Sam proceeds to continue to "bump into" Adonis all over campus--in the student union, in art class, etc. One of my first major problems was with the character's names. Sam is fine, but Adonis (which we later find out is actually Christos (even worse)) is terrible. And Sam's art friends are Romeo and Kamiko--WTH??? It was a smidge distracting...

Sam is an accounting major at the insistence of her parents but is actually interested in art. Sam's teacher sets her up with an art mentor--who is none other than Christos "Adonis" Mantos. This is how Adonis and Sam start to build a relationship.

As a heroine, I found Sam to be weak. She was constantly doubting the fact that anyone would find her pretty or like her. And she had this weird obsession with ice cream.

Granted whatever happened in her past must have been the motivating factor for this and at 60% I wasn't any closer to determining what that was.

My next problem came with the fact that there were too many weird violent situations that occured in the book--in San Diego, mind you. Let's see...in the first 60% we had the road rage incident which resulted in an assault, we had a drive-by shooting at a party and we had the attempted rape/assault by the scary bikers.

Christos/Adonis really wasn't very likable. Apparently there was something going on his past too which I am not sure ever gets addressed. He continued to keep Sam at arms length for some reason--citing the mentor/mentee relationship. At this point the dialogue started taking a turn for the cheesy. And I just didn't feel any connection to the story or the characters.

Perhaps it's a case of....

“An ARC was provided to me in an exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and comments are my own.”

4.5 stars! For a debut book, I’d say that the author was able to put the excitement in me as I’m flipping pages, chapter after chapter!

Let’s deal with the cover first, yeah I know, freaking hotness overload! Initially you might think (because of all the yumminess oozing from the hunk in cover) that what you are jumping into is erotica or anywhere leading to that, so let’s get this straight here, this is shelved as New Adult and one of the things I liked about this book is that you’ll figure out in the story why is there a need for a cover as hot as the one in Fearless. I find it important as a reader to find the connection of the cover with the story.

I wanted to give you a heads up that I might be citing some scenes from the book that you may find as spoilers or on the other way around may just generate some excitement for you, but anyway, I’ll try to keep the spoilers at a minimum. Promise.

Samantha ‘Sam’ Smith is the new school girl in San Diego University that was caught up with the dreams of her parents, be the next Certified Public Accountant. Being good with numbers is one thing but dealing and surrendering yourself with the realms of accounting for the rest of your life, yikes, doesn’t sound all that good for Samantha. And her screwed up situation has just gotten a notch higher during her first day in college. I’ll stop there, I made a promise right? I’m getting all excited with the first chapter and I want you all guys to find out what happened there! I’m thankful that my first day in college was nowhere near as disastrous as Samantha’s, been the opposite for me, good heavens.

Enter Adonis (yep the name gives it away), totally good-looking and muscle-clad guy that held Sam’s attention during her first day. The electric tingles, sweaty hands, butterflies in your stomach, and hormones surge floored Sam after that wicked wink from Adonis. Guys like him are good to go as eye candy and never pegged for the boyfriend type, Sam knows that very well but when heavens aligned for them to meet again during her Life Drawing Class, bad boy or what, who cares?

Arts was the inspiration of the author for Fearless and has been the one of central elements in the story. Sam finds her soul and love in drawing (how I envy Sam, oh you artists!!) and so became her reason for minoring in art. How can I ever forget that scene in the art class? Damn. I mentioned something about Adonis right? Then just now, arts? If you can put two and two together, how lucky you are and you might just want to contain that excitement because it might be spilling over when you’ve finally landed on the two chapters written about it. Fanning here, whew! Hot ears and face.

Then there’s this thing about someone named Christos Manos, he’s the mentor we all wish to have, lucky Sam! For someone equipped with knowledge about arts and not to mention totally swoon-worthy, I would probably be fan-girling the entire mentoring session. Christos may have snatched my heart but there’s this one scene that made me just want to really punch his face, kick his ass, and leave him bloody, asking for help somewhere. Whatever. It might hurt less if Sam just saw him kiss some flirtatious girl but to witness them do the next step in action, hear all those madness, ugh Sickening. Poor Sam. Hate Christos (but just about that time only :p)

With all the college drama that Sam is dealing with, remnants of her old life as an Emo back home in Washington just keep resurfacing and she might just have to put on a brave face and tell Christos what really happened that night her life was changed and caused her to hide behind the safety blanket of being Emo. Christos on the other hand, has his own amount of baggage to carry with and spilling his deepest thoughts to Sam might be harder than what he thought it is. The last few chapters sent my mind spinning, heart beating wildly and what a revelation! Never see that coming. There’s more to Fearless that just the good looks of the guy in cover, it’s about a story of living up your dreams, facing your past and starting all over again, being fearless in the deepest sense.

“Don’t be afraid to take risks, go after what you want in life, otherwise regret will consume your soul, and you’ll kick yourself on your death bed.”

The ending leaves me hanging; I need to find out Sam’s decision!! Well, good thing October is just two months away and plus it’s my birth month, so I’ll be happily and patiently waiting for the second book, Reckless. You won’t be devastated with the ending, I promise. Book 1 ends perfectly fine, curiosity just sinks in as to what is going on in Sam’s head. You better be fearless girl!

I didn't know much about this book or author to start with. I picked this story on a whim.

So glad I did. From the get go I loved the narrative by Samantha as she was making her way to her first day at College. This concept fascinates me, as first days anywhere are usually the hardest for me.

Loved the humour that was there in her descriptions of all that was going on around her. Then when we get to first hear of the amazing god like man who saves her from the road rage in the making, wonderful.

Now we are in her first life drawing class with her & we find that the god like dream is actually the model they have to draw, yep you have my attention now. This story has captivated me & literally could not stop reading.

The biggest pause in the story was when I was at work & this annoyed me, could not get to my breaks quick enough. Brilliant, is the first word that comes to mind.

Samantha Smith, so much drama & such deep pain. There is a secret here that takes the whole book before we get to the centre. She is emotionally crippled within her own head when it comes to love & scared shitless that things aren't real. Samantha has been hurt before & is still fighting to get through the pain of this 3 years on.

Enter Christos 'Adonis' Manos. Hotter than hot, man whore is her first impression, but things change for the better & both of their pain comes out. Adonis is apparently apt for this character, Greek god like is also another accurate description, apparently.

I love how Christos influences Samantha, this is just the type of person she needs in her life. I think they are a beautiful couple & truly hope they end up together.

This is a provocative story, the questions it raises.

Awesome can't wait for the next 2 books to continue my love of these 2.

First I would like to say, thank you Devon for writing a book with a bad boy that is not a bad boy or drama queen, thank you for writing a couple that might have a lot of baggage but do not just give up on each other and decide it is for the best, thank you for Christos and making him protective without being possessive. I am tired of those love stories....... This one was perfect.

Samantha has tragedy in her past & it haunts her daily, hourly perhaps. She runs from it, she binges because of it, she drinks to numb it. Sam is scared of relationships, scared of love, scared of love & scared of sex. Christos has been betrayed by mother & father, he chooses sex over love so he will not feel pain or hurt. Christos is scared to love & to feel love.

Both Sam & Christos have a lot to overcome from their pasts but they form a great friendship and they share a love of art. Christos is helping Sam learn more about the art world and her talent. Chrstos believes in Samantha's talent even though Sam does not believe in herself. Christos might have a lot of body art (tattoos) and ride a motorcycle but that just means he is sexy as hell, especially with those abs. He is a bad boy with a soft, loving, patient heart for Samantha. Christos is still cocky, I mean lets face it he is a Greek God (Adonis). Christos is very patient with Samantha, the author does not say if Christos suspects that Sam is a virgin but either way he is not pushing anything she is not ready for. If Sam puts on the breaks, Christos will take a cold shower. That is how you so easily fall in love with him.

Samantha is in denial & is self destructive. She knows she wants to be with Christos & Sam knows she wants to stick with art but her parents want her to have a responsible career just like there careers that have made them unhappy for 20 years. Sam needs to take charge of her life and stand up to her parents...... Yeah, maybe in the next book that will happen. LOL

Samantha feels that she does not deserve happiness because of her past and things that have taken place. Christos tells her nothing is her fault & she can not blame herself for someone else's actions. But Sam feels that until she tells Christos the entire truth of a horrible night that turned her life into a walking hell she will never be able to free herself of this turmoil. She comes to the conclusion that she must tell Christos & then tell the rest of the world. BRAVE GIRL.

I loved this book. Christos is not possessive, uptight, judgemental, jealous, pushy, or sex crazed. Must woman will read this a believe that Christos could never exist but I believe he can exist. Samantha is sweet, patient, and kind. They are a good couple and I look forward to "Reckless" Book #2 in this Samantha Smith series.

For a debut novel, I am going to say...it was good. I am not bouncing up and down screaming that everyone needs to read this book, but it was an enjoyable read. And let's face it, the cover is smoking hot!

Let's start with the good stuff:

Cristos/Adonis. The man is hot. He is a tattooed, motorcycle riding amazing artist that works with kids every weekend. Awwwwww! He is also the campus manwhore. Boo! Oh well, you can't have everything! I did really, really like his character. He dealt with his past and his emotions in a realistic way. He wasn't perfect, but he was still a great character. He knew what Sam needed even when she didn't.

The plot had a good outline. Tortured girl from the East Coast with controlling parents incapable of showing love and a traumatic experience haunting her moves to sunny San Diego to go to college and re-make herself. Her parents expect her to be an accountant because it is safe, and that's all they want for her. They want her to be safe, secure and dreadfully boring. I wanted to smack her parents upside the head.

Samantha takes a drawing class as an elective and shows promise so her teacher hooks her up with a mentor. That mentor ends up being Cristos who goes by his middle name, Adonis (I just have to put this out there, any time I read someone calling him Adonis, I cringed. It made me uncomfortable!) Adonis is the town manslut, but he and Sam have some serious chemistry. Even if they are fighting against it (well, mostly Cristos is).

Ok, so let's talk about Sam. I hated her most of the time. She was whiny, immature, jealous, overly emotional and just plain annoying. I swear, I struggled most of the time to see WTF Cristos saw in her. She was constantly freaking out, being mean to him, running away, being crazy jealous, having no backbone at all. Ugh. She was like Ana from 50 shades on crazy chick steroids. I wanted to shake her, slap her and tell her to grow the F up!

Now, onto some of the issues I had with the book.

The "mean girl" cliche was alive and kicking. And it was totally overdone.
There were episodes of unnecessary drama. We didn't need the drive-by or the motorcycle gang. One round of Adonis coming to the rescue was enough.
There were too many issues swirling. Sam's drama, Cristos' dad/mom drama, the guy from the gallery (why was he written in? He wasn't needed) Sam's parents, the mean girls...there was just so much going on!

Ok. So here's my summary.
Like I said, it was and enjoyable book. I don't regret reading it and I will read the next one. If you are looking for a good NA book with no sexy time, this one is a good bet. We will see how I feel about the next book...who knows, maybe after I read it I will tell you that you MUST read it! It could happen! Especially when you have a new author, you expect growth in subsequent books. Devon Hartford certainly has talent, it will be great to see how he grows!

DNF – I may have given up on this one too soon (9%) but I just don’t have any patience with heroines that have overly wordy silly dialogue. The h’s gay friend (Romeo) was over the top silly too. UGH! As much as I like this bks cover shot, I couldn't make myself read any further to see whether I even liked the H/Adonis. Despite some good reviews for this NA story, I returned it for refund.

Hmmm... i am not sure about this book.

What i like:
1. It is romance book that is written by male author.

2. Adonis. Six pack, tattoo and art mentor. Have a heart of gold.

3. The flirty sexy dates and banter.

What i do not like:
1. Samantha. She is immature. Very immature.

2. The story is too long. Many plot that is very not necessary. I got bored in the middle of the book.

So i feel so so.

I picked this book up on Amazon for .99 cent, simply judging this book by it's cover. Eye candy always gets me!
However, what was between the covers was more than I had imagined!
This was a well thought out plot that included personal struggles, character strengthening, art knowledge, relationship building, and too many emotions to list.
Finding this author and book was like finding a diamond in the rough. This book was well written with just a couple of typo's that I found. This book kept me intrigued, and I hated myself last night, as my body found it's way to shut down, therefor I had to put the book away until today.
I never found myself "skimming" the pages. I wanted to read every single word. I never found myself rolling my eyes or wishing that the author would just "get to the point."

SPOILER ALERT:
In this amazing story, Sam has chosen to move clear across the country in order to run from her past. A past that tainted her and almost killed someone else. All because of one boy that broke her heart leaving her to vow to herself to never trust anyone again.

Christos, aka Adonis, is the crotch rocket God who saves Sam from a scary situation before they actually know each other. He also turns out to be her art mentor. But his family dynamics haunt him and he finds himself unwilling to love.

Sam enjoys drawing, but her parents push her into the accounting world given her gift with numbers. Christos enjoys art, as it runs in the family. He finds that Sam actually has a talent that needs to be brought to the surface.

They struggle with their mentor-mentee relationship before finally caving in. Neither one of them feels deserving of the other due to their pasts.

In the end, each of them gives in, acknowledges their past, face their fears, leaving them both fearless.......I hope!

Amazon  ♦  B&N

I was super excited to read this book. First of all, the guy on the cover is smoking hot then when I saw that the author was a man..I knew I had to read it. I had to see how different it would be coming from a male. Before I get into discussing the book, I have to tell you...this author ROCKS! I have developed crushed on other authors due to their writing and I swear I have a crush on Devon Hartford, his writing is AWESOME!

"How did this boy manage to wash away all my pain and fear so easily?

He was a godsend."

OK so now, about the book. Fearless is about a young girl in her first year of college who moved across the country to  escape her past. She is so broken inside that she changed everything about her. Thinking moving across the country she could re-invent herself, make new friends and get a fresh start. That all sounds like a great idea, but if you cant let go of the past, it will just keep haunting you...and that's what happens.

"This guy was like a male Medusa. Only he was a Man-dusa, and instead of being ugly, he was so good looking, he turned innocent virgins to stone with a single gaze."

Adonis is a SUPER hot bad boy...well at least we think he is. He has a secret side to him that was a bit surprising but it totally worked for him. He comes across and this super egotistical, hot headed, playboy...well in all reality, he kinda was...until he met Samantha.

I really don't want to discuss too much of this since if I say one simple thing it could ruin the beginning of the book for you. Sam is in college to become a CPA, yea, pretty boring. In Fearless, she seems to be a bit confused on who or what she is. She knows her parents want one thing for her since its safe but she wants something else, something she actually has a passion for and what some tell her she is a natural at. I actually felt really bad for her, she at times seemed like such a strong woman but her past kept making her run away...she runs A LOT.

I was kinda aggravated with Adonis for the first half of the book. Things he did would make me, (someone who at their age could not turn away from a hot face) turn the other way. He just seemed way too self absorbed. I completely turned my feelings around for him. Seeing his "other" side made me at times just want to squeeze the crap out of him (in a good way).

I was really hooked on this book. While at times it did sort of make me want to say OH COME ON ALREADY, it was perfect for what this was about. Samantha has to deal with things from her past that she has hidden away for 3 years. Knowing that this was a trilogy REALLY helped me like this more. I knew this book was more of her finding herself, facing her fears and becoming the person she wants to be.

This book actually makes me more rambleish (don't think that's a word but oh well). I really liked the secondary characters. Sam's friends were so great and seemed like true friends. All of them being completely different from the other. It was really great for Sam to have them to lean on when things got rough.

This book is a lot about art. I was never really into art considering I cant even draw a stick figure straight but I really got into it in this. I had no idea what something were when they discussed it but it didn't make me like the book any less. The one thing that made me a bit mad what one moment that has to do with Adonis and a couch. No....no no no. I wasn't happy with that..Yes, there was nothing that said he couldn't do it but it just kinda made him seem like a complete ass. If he has these certain feelings, he shouldn't have done that.

Devon Hartford did an amazing job writing this book. He is so intunned (am I making up words)with how us women feel. He got the emotions down, he really made you feel what Sam was going through and how she felt. At times you actually forget that this is a male writing a female POV but simple words here and there would make me smile and say, yea he is totally male.

I have to give major props to Devon. Contemporary Romance, Young Adult, New Age is all kinda like a woman's world. He did an amazing job proving that men can be just as well into the emotions us woman feel. If anything, he makes all other men look like dogs. He is proof that men are capable of realizing what a woman goes through.

I am super excited about reading the next book which is due out in October. I really want to continue reading Sam's story and see how she grows. I definitely recommend this book.

Devon is one of my favourite writers. I'm glad as he is very talented and a credit to his writing. Once I read fearless I was hooked. Couldn't wait for reckless so made sure devon put me on the beta readers as I missed out on arc readers. Devon captures all the characters In this book. I found myself laughing at the way he words things especially kamiko and Romeo are the funniest. You won't be disappointed. I have read reckless, which had an amazing ending, cliff hanger ALERT.....Yes I know people hate them but it makes it more exciting to wait and read #3 painless. I cant wait to read what samantha, christos, Romeo and kamiko have been up to.

BITCH, SLUT, WHORE. part of the dialogue. ☺ Shamazing read guys

Fearless was definitely entertaining. Some parts were a 4 for me and others were a 3.5. I feel like this book had so many good elements but they were delayed. There was good stuff in this book that with more development could have been great. With that in mind and the fact that the big bombshell was finally revealed I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

I must say one of my favorite scenes was the beginning when Samantha is headed to her first day of classes at SDU and gets stuck in traffic with the most annoying driver in the car behind her. When the traffic finally picks up all the horns behind her blare causing her to reach for her stick shift and knocking her Venti Americano all over herself. Rude guy behind her keeps yelling obscenities at her causing her to be frazzled. He finally gets out of his car and gets in Samantha's face. Cue hot ripped motorcycle guy coming to the rescue. He punches the annoying driver so hard to get out of Samantha's face, the guy's eyes threaten to come out of their sockets.

One of his well-toned forearms rested on my windowsill.

I inhaled the faint scent of cologne, which hit the mainly sweet spot somewhere between dusty cowboy and crowned prince. Strength and style. That's not the only spot it hits. Down, girl!

There was no way he could see anything beneath or through my knee-length dress, but i squeezed my thighs together, just in case. Just in case I jumped him. Rawr!

"You okay?" A dimple twitched beneath his cheek. I detected a cocky smile. I couldn't see his lips beneath the helmet's face mask, but I could imagine them. Swoon.

"Uh..." Pick up your panties and grow some ovaries, girl! Loosen that corset or you're going to faint right here!
"Thanks, yeah, I'm okay."

His face twisted. "Why do you smell like coffee?"

"Um...new body spray?" I said hopefully.

He noticed my legs and the coffee spill. He chuckled. "Looks like you had an accident."

"Yeah. Accident." I sounded like an idiot .

"What's your name?"

"Sam-"

Cars started honking again. The light had cycled back to green.

"-antha."

"My work is done here. Sam. Antha." More dimples.

He slapped the roof of my car, swaggered back to his bike and rocketed down the highway. I wanted to shout "My name is Samantha Smith! My cell phone number is-" but I had a small fragment of self respect remaining.

So, yeah I liked the authors quirky humor and how he made the book seem light and refreshing. I do think waiting all the way until the last chapters to reveal Samantha's past was a little too much. It was kind of like the whole book was the "beginning" if that makes any sense until you get to the last five or so chapters and that's where you start to get those "aha!" moments. Which is why I am looking forward to the second book in the series, I have higher hopes for it sense the secrets are all out now.

First let me start by saying that I was so intrigued to be reading this story by the author, a male author at that. The reason I say that is, because I haven't actually read that many male author books, if I had I am pretty sure I could count them all in one hand. The only I can think of now is Devon Hartford, that is because I just finished reading his story fearless.
There is so much to say about this book, that deserves five stars. I have never been taken an emotional ride like this, I felt there was so much going on and I could relate to something's. That made the characters so real to me, especially Samantha I can totally get her. I felt like she was real, because it sounds so believable how she feels, and I believe the author did an amazing job writing her story and I am impressed that the author did all in first person with Samantha and just her. He did an amazing job capturing her as a person and her life to fit the story. I am just blown away how good the story was. Took me longer than read then most because I found myself stopping to take breaks from the book because I just got overly emotional and I just had to breathe. That has never happen to me, never felt that connect to a character, I felt like I was experiencing everything she was and was so real to me and just can't get over it. I became so emotionally attached to her feeling her emotions on everything happen to her life; especially Christos, he drove me crazy. Exactly how he drove Samantha crazy, but eventually she couldn't help falling in love with him, because she saw something, no others saw. I can see why she fell in love with him, because I did too with Samantha. The author not only did an awesome job with Samantha and Christos, but the other characters as well they fit perfect to the story and help you figure and understand them and their background. Gave it more depth to the story, that made it more real to me. The author also gave great detail to where they character were at all time; you never wonder where they are and how their surroundings look like or even what there where. He even captures the character personalities when described how they looked like. I believe the author did an amazing job with the whole I was even surprised when I finished it and cannot wait to read the next one.
I give this book five huge stars. I just loved everything about it, has a good plot, amazing characters, romance, a little action, and maybe figuring out how to be fearless. So if you enjoy a good emotional ride and this is the book for you. One more thing that I should mentioned made me love this book a little more was the knowledge the author had about art, I totally enjoyed reading that and even found it kind of inspirational how he added into the story, I loved it. Oh and the cover OMG its Chirstos, that is exactly how I pictured him, I love the cover.

Well I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am just gutted I have to wait for the next one.
This book started out perfectly and in the first 5 pages it had one my favourite lines
'Pick up your panties and grow some ovaries girl!' it truly made me laugh out loud, and that is just one of the things I enjoyed so much about this book was the one liners from Sam and her friends. Speaking of Sams friends what a great and mixed bunch they were. I have to say Romeo was definitely a favourite by Mad's was without doubt the BFF. I would have actually liked to have seen for of Mad's in it if I am honest as I felt the strength of their friendship was just slightly skimmed over, but I loved it all the same.
So onto Adonis... yes that's right Adonis!! He is just a little bit of everything, his character is just absolutely full of surprises and I think no matter who you are you will fall for him, and you will fall hard.
I think that this story covered teenage angst and how life is so different for people depending which social class they come from. As with all stories set in college and uni it has it bullies and bitches but you just have to believe that good and innocence will prevail! :)
As every romantic does, I was totally rooting for Sam and Adonis all the way through this book and that's why I need the next book... Now.. I need to know what's next.
Great book. Great Read
4.5 stars for me!

I really enjoyed this book.

The story was great, as were the characters, especially Christos - he is creative and intelligent, charming and caring, and as if that isn't enough, he is also very, very sexy. Another two really interesting characters are Romeo and Kamiko. The two of them made a good book even better with their banter and their awesome friendship, I loved them both.

And then there is Samantha ............ this girl had me grinding my teeth many times. I could not for the life of me understand what Christos saw in her. She was jealous and possessive when she had no right to be; she was also incredibly insecure and had no self esteem. She pouted, she sulked. So, what did Christos see in her? I have no idea. The further I read, the more I understood some of her issues - she had a traumatic two years behind her, a seemingly loveless home-life, and her extreme loneliness could all have had this effect on her, but still, I would like to have seen what Christos saw in her to fall so completely (wow, this was actually really awesome, you must read it) in love with her.

I hope that Reckless - book 2 in the series, will give more insight into who Samantha is, and I am looking forward to meeting the real Sam.

Would I recommend this book? Most definitely, it is a very good read and I loved it.

even though this Book has a fair amount of bad reviews. I read it anyway (I like to form my own opinion) an I'm so glad I did. I loved it.
When Sam had a secret, which they all do, I had no clue as to what it was until it was explained which is good because I can usually guess what, why, when an how to most situations, but I didn't guess...yay lol that doesn't happen often.
anyway I love Adonis he is hot, Greek an tattooed.....what else is there (love the name, very well suited) but I cannot wait to find out all his little secrets I have a few theorists.
as for Sam's parents Christ they would drive me insane. Sam has a pretty cool bunch of friends with mad who is a typical bubbly call girl, Romeo who is th camp fun guy and a little cartoon obsessed Asian girl, I'm not even attempting her name.

anyway I w as sucked in by the storyline but then the one thing I was surprised by was that Devon Hartford was male....yes I know I shouldn't of assumed..... if not read this type of book written by a man before and do you know what he did great job and I'm looking forward to seeing what's next for Adonis and Sam :)

I really enjoyed this book. I found the storyline really grasping, the characters were well written , and at times I love the humour in the book which will make you laugh! As the story progresses, it gets more involved and builds up quite nicely to the climax. There is a lot to love about this book as it was packed full of emotion, humor and really interesting characters. I admit the story did keep me guessing at what was going to happen next; I was pleasantly surprised at the turn out!!

Without spoiling anything, the storyline is about: Sam starts a college which is miles away from home, she opts to go there hoping for a fresh start, away from the memories of her past. While there, She meets the local tattooed hot guy, sparks fly in more ways than one and there the story really stars!!
What is unusual about this book is the base/background focus is art which is make a refreshing change. From what is wrote and the knowledge put in to the story I have a feeling that possibly the writer has knowledge about art, therefore he writes/blends it into the story very well!

I would read more by this author, and look forward to future releases. 100% WELL WORTH THE READ!!

I cannot wait for the other two books to be release for this series. I started reading the book and could not put it down until I had completed it.

I am not even sure where to begin with this review. Devon Hartford you have delivered what you said you would. This contained romance, friendship and mystery of the past that haunts their dreams.

Samantha runs clear across country to start a fresh live. She became and outcast in high school because she refused give her powerful boyfriend something that she valued. That one night turned into a nightmare for her and she tries to run from that past.

Adonis is every woman's dream man. He is the typical playboy with a bad boy image. When Samantha meet him her life changed for the positive. Adonis made her face her past so that she could move forward for with her future. The only thing still holding her back is her parents.

I cannot wait to book two and three are released to see how Samantha develops as person and what path will she decided to take. Will she follow her heart?

After purchasing this book on my kindle I read the reviews and was worried about my choosing to read 'Fearless'. But... I was happily suprised!!!!
Now, I am not one of those people that nitpick books but rather judge by the emotions and how relatable the story is. This story definitely kept me going and had my emotions all over the place. I did not want to put it down. I wanted to know so badly who 'Taylor' was and how he/she affected Sam so emmensely. It bothered me throughout the book to now know why. It bothered me that she kept running away from everything when she had this person there that so honestly cared/loved her. But like any good book it kept things interesting throughout and those bits that were so botherson to not have right then and there are what pulled me along even faster.
Now, I don't want to pick up another book because I don't want to loose the things that this book made me feel and think about. I am anxiously awaiting the release of Reckless!!! I will be buying it right away. I look forward to seeing where the auther takes us next.

I really loved this book! It totally made me laugh out loud at parts, which doesn't happen often! The interaction and dialogue between everyone is quick and witty and drew me right in. On top of being a fun read, everyone has lots of secrets! But I liked that it's not too frustrating and angsty getting to the bottom of it.
It's the story of a girl trying to escape her past and start a new life across the country. She constantly gets herself into funny and sketchy situations that cracked me up, but she meets some really great people along the way, most notably, super hot Adonis. While he has his own issues, he seems like he's further along in coming to terms with it and helps push Sam down her path.
Sam, while I really loved her, drove me a little crazy at times with all her running away from stuff...literally. I wanted to grab her by the hair and make her sit. But Adonis basically can do no wrong in my eyes. I mean...you'll see. Move this up to the topic your TBR list!

I was asked to read this book for an honest review, this is my honest review.

I truly enjoyed the story of Sam and Adonis! However, I was pretty upset with the first fifty percent of their story. At first I felt that Sam was being overly emotional and insecure about Adonis. They were not in a relationship and some of her comments about the women he was seen with were a little immature and childish. That being said, after thinking on this a little more I am not holding Sam at fault anymore. She is only nineteen. Hormones are crazy at that age and I must say that Hartford did a fantastic job of displaying those hormones and emotions.

I was also a little disappointed in Adonis for the first fifty percent. He was very sweet and attentive to Sam but still told her he only wanted a "mentor-mentee" relationship. His signals were not corresponding with his words. He of course turned all this around and became more to Sam than I thought he could possibly be. Pretty swoon worthy!

This book had everything a great New Adult novel needs: angst, mystery, desire, hilarious banter, passion, mixed signals, and my favorite the I-really-want-to-be-with-you-like-really-bad-but-I-can’t-because-I-am-a-horrible-person-because-of-something-in-my-past-I-honestly-had-no-control-over! *okay out of breath now.

Overall, Fearless was very well written and edited. I can honestly say I enjoyed Sam and Adonis' story and cannot wait to see how they grow as individuals and as a couple in the next books.

I bought this on the recommendation of Jane Harvey-Berrick, who's writing I admire.
Well, stone me! What a surprise. I loved it!
The story is set around the fictional (I'm told) SDU. Samantha Smith has moved across the country to escape her demons and attend university in sunny San Diego. On her first day at uni, Sam is threatened in the traffic by a not-terribly-laid-back guy, and is rescued by a devastatingly attractive bloke on a Ducati. She runs into her rescuer again at school, and their relationship progresses from there.
Devon Hartford had me at Ducati, I have to say.
The story started strongly and the characters emerged into three dimensional people fairly swiftly. Adonis is an ambiguous character to begin with (well, for me, anyway). I'm not a fan of the bad boy/player character but I like the use of two names here. We get to know the cocky man-whore as Adonis, but Christos is the emotional sensitive guy. Samantha is a credible character. She's had a monochrome upbringing with parents who care more about grades than love or creativity. Her reactions to her surroundings and the events at university are all credible. Her insecurities, especially about her art, are totally understandable.
The cast of supporting characters add colour and charm and a little light relief to an emotional story.
The actual setting adds more colour and sunlight to the story. Sand Diego and its environs have their own starring role in this book, casting a warm glow over it all.
I bought this on Amazon for 99c. It was money definitely well spent. I highly recommend this book.

This book made me want to visit San Diego asap! Very educational, better than the few art classes I took back in my younger days altho', in fairness, we were too young then to have a nude model pose for us.Haha

Now, I usually don't read non-paranormal books because they're harder to brush off once you're done, and the ones I read always have strong female characters. So even before reading this book, I had already passed judgment.lol But of course I read it.

Well I finished it and actually enjoyed but not so much with the main character. She's insecure, needy, and stalker-ish. Exactly what someone at that age would be (some just know how to hide it really well). And she reminds me of what it was like for me in freshmen year of university (minus the stalker part...altho' our favorite hangout spot was across from the boys' dorm LOL)...which is probably why she annoyed me so much. My head hurt from rolling my eyes too many times. But at least she had: Fabulous ROMEO. He was the light in all the darkness that was Samantha. Always LOL'd with him in the picture.

And let's not forget the aptly named ADONIS.*Sigh* Imaginary men are always the best!

The thing that won me over the most? Born This Way. I could actually play it in my head.lol Most of the books I read with playlists, I hardly recognize the names.

But that's just me :)
