When Kitty Hawkins followed her boyfriend Jeremy down to Panama City Beach, she thought the future was wide open. She never saw herself being cast from her happy home, walking the Miracle Strip for johns or becoming addicted to crystal meth.
Life has a funny way of working sometimes and just when she thinks Death is coming to take her away, a pimp in a pin stripe suit rescues her. Sugarman and Kitty soon fall in love, and he decides to put his pimping ways behind him and go legit with a strip club he calls Kitty’s Treasure Chest in honor of his star attraction.
It looks like Kitty may finally have the happy ending she has always wanted. Unfortunately, an obsessed lover, one of her regular johns from the past, has decided to loan Sugarman a couple grand to reupholster some chairs. But it’s not the money or interest this devil is interested in collecting. In fact, the Devil has come down from Georgia to Panama City Beach . . . looking for a whore to steal.
Jimmy James "M.F." Pudge was born into this world on 6-9-1979 in a truck stop toilet at a TA Travel Center in the backwoods of South Georgia. An honest and conscientious man, Jimmy served several prison sentences because he refused to give in to the federal laws that impose independent spirits' rights to be entrepreneurs. An expert in the art of pruno, shank construction, and paper dart blow guns, Jimmy briefly served as a leader in his dorm room before being released early for good behavior.
To quote Mark Wahlberg from The Other Guys, "You can't have a conscience in the pimp game." This brought me back to, what I feel, is Judith Sonnet's finest work in Chainsaw Hooker (Highly recommend!). Kitty comes from a crappy upbringing and gets involved in hooking, stripping, witchcraft, zombies, and other such shenanigans. Now, I know that this isn't the most revered story because it's sloppy and gross and the plot is really silly. However, that's what books like the Shingles series and Jimmy Pudge's works thrive on. It's not meant to be strictly humor or horror or splatterpunk, but rather a strange hybrid of those genres. It never takes itself too seriously, but just works with what it's supposed to be, and that's what makes it so enjoyable. Too many times, books try to strive to be something more than what they are, which hurts the enjoyment factor for the audience. Sometimes simple is better than complicated. And this is something that you can just turn your mind off for an hour and get squeamish with. Isn't that what life is all about?!
If you like tawdry 70s era Grindhouse horror, this is your ticket. Otherwise, run far away. It's like a car wreck you can't stop looking at. You don't want to admit you read this whole horrible tale, but you did. Strippers, mayhem, blood, gore, murder, wood chippers, zombies, and messy entrails. Did I mention cannabalism and freaky sex acts? It's all here. As another reviewer noted, it is not classic literature and will never be studied with Tolstoy and Shakespeare, but the author stays true to his art form and does not try to be anything but the gory horror pulp writer he is
Someone recommended Jimmy Pudge as an author to check out. Kitty's Revenge does not disappoint. Very much enjoyed the cast of unique characters in this one. Even the characters you despise are interesting, old sport. :) Definitely will be reading more by this author. As a fan of extreme horror I'm surprised the name was new to me. Thankfully that has been rectified.
Holy Cow! Talk about gore, blood and more GORE. When you think it can't get worse, it does! I know this is fiction but makes you think what life a drug addicted prostitute goes thru....without the gore.
From my Amazon review, since goodreads takes some time to add certain books....
Sometimes a pimp can have a heart of gold. In this case its Sugarman, who rescues Kitty Hawkins from the streets and helps restore her health, and her soul. Things have finally turned around for Kitty, but her good life is short lived when someone, ala the Great Gassy comes and shatters her whole world. Left for dead, Kitty exacts her revenge in very graphic ways.
This book has all of the Jimmy Pudge hallmarks. Interesting characters, graphic violence and his own brand of Southern fried humor that only JP can dish out. You would be a fool to pass this one up.
Never have I read something so disgusting and vile. The author of this book could be very disturbed. I'm not really sure. What I do know is that if you enjoy women being degraded, gore, and unimaginable brutality, then this is for you. A meth-addicted hooker escapes from a disturbing relationship to become a stripper in Georgia only to have the sick ex boyfriend hunt her down in a wild and vile murder spree. This one is not for the faint of heart or stomach.
