Keine Fortsetzung. War noch nie so verwirrt.
I really feel like all three volumes should have been one single volume. They go by too fast, and don't cover very much. The conclusion in this volume, which apparently is the final volume, just left me feeling unfulfilled. It's really sad because I like the setting and art style... And the characters were interesting. Unfortunately it was very little substance. A lot of promise, unfulfilled.
This starts out promising but quickly wraps up the series about half way through the book. Not only does this happen quickly, but we don't get a real ending. :/ And then there's a "bonus" story loosely based on Cinderella that involves rape and slavery magic. Wtf? Yay...romance...whoo🙄
The actual series had so much promise and the art is so beautiful. It's such a disappointing end.
It's the final volume of this series. The Bird Clan kidnappers decide to kill Ruiying because they think the Rabbit Princess is the only one who matters, but thankfully Ruiying is saved by an older Bird man. As all of this is going on, King Yawen's wrath is rapidly growing stronger. If something isn't done soon, he may completely lose control to the point that even his closest friends won't be safe.
This ending was a bit rushed. The issue of King Yawen Ruiying is also never told on-page that King Yawen fed her one of his scales and literally tied his life to hers. Speaking of which, I guess that would be one way of dealing with an out-of-control King Yawen - just kill his weak fated mate. Not that this is ever spelled out anywhere in the series.
It felt like the author had additional things planned that there wasn't time to get to. The Cat Princess only briefly got to talk about her life prior to becoming a bride candidate, and I don't think the Dog Princess even got an on-page appearance. The Cat and Rabbit Princesses remained Ruiying's supportive friends, although, considering how shy and quiet she'd previously seemed, I was amused at how delightfully catty the Rabbit Princess became around the Cat Princess.
Extras:
The volume ends with a bonus comic, "And So, the Solitary Songstress Was Loved," in which a young woman, Hortense, tries to fulfill her role as "Songstress," someone with the power to heal the king's friend, a mythical beast, with her song. Hortense is abused an enslaved by her family, forbidden from speaking unless she's singing for the beast. The one person in her life who's kind to her is Sir Ern, the knight who accompanies her to the beast. Overall, this story was okay - a bit disjointed and not a whole lot of depth to it, but decent enough, I guess.
There are also a couple more four-panel The Dragon King's Imperial Wrath comics and one full-color illustration.
I'm so disappointed. Vol 1 & 2 were sooo good! But Vol 3? It felt like it was rushed to pull everything together in this last volume but there was no real context. While we had the previous 2 volumes to see the build up of their interest in on another, this volume it just felt rushed. I ended up with so many more question. What a shame
While the reunion scenes are sweet, the talk amongst 3 of the 4 princesses is a little strange to say the least. It would be curious to at least confirm if the 4th princess was also of the same mindset, as well as if King Yawen would continue to visit them as bride candidates even thought it's now clear it's Ruiying he's interested in, and she returns the interest even if she's only just starting to realize it or understand anything. The ending doesn't feel like a true ending or conclusion though, so while it has a lot of potential, it feels like the overall story missed out on a lot of what it could have been.

That was an okay ending. I like the idea of the world, and the complexity of the characters, but I feel like it would have been better with more time. Because there was an added complexity to the romance, and why Ruiying was hesitant and what she wanted to be with Yawen, I feel like more time to develop that would have been better. Especially for the scene where Yawen rages out at the beginning of this volume. There wasn’t enough development given to make that make sense. Instead we’re left pretty surface level for the ending, and it definitely feels like the story was cut short.
Overall it was okay, though, and I really loved the art style.
I did not realize this would be the final volume...wish we had more time build out this world and their relationship. but overall my impressions of the series as a whole are that it reads like a classic fairytale. I loved the female friendships and the love story here <3 the final extra story was like a cinderella re-telling and was very romantic! the best part of this was 100000% the art though, so gorgeous

This series is cute. It's really short... in fact the reason it's just 3 volumes is a big why I decided to buy them all without reading them first, and I'm happy to say that I'm not disappointed. In fact if I were to say anything disappointed me it's that it feels a little too short. I definitely would have liked an epilogue of them later down the line.... But then that probably wouldn't leave room for the extra short story at the end and that would have been a shame.
The conclusion of this series was much better than the previous book. However, I was disappointed in the reason the Rat Princess chose to stay in a relationship with the Dragon King: She didn't want him to be alone. I was pleased that they ended up together. Just that the reason for their partnership could have had more to do with enriching each others' lives instead of out of duty, but that would go against the patriarchal system that is the ruling class.
I mean.... it was until I started explaining the story to my friend that I began to realize how silly this short, rushed series is LOL. It was fun but so rushed and had an abrupt ending, only to then use the last 20 pages for a random Cinderella-retelling short story ?? Just don't take this story wholeheartedly and move on to the next book because it was still a fun experience. ^-^
Beautiful artwork and a lot of world building for a book that ended so suddenly. There really should be like two more volumes. We barely saw the relationship between the two leads develop. This volume had a sweet little one shot at the end unrelated to the main plot.
This last volume just... Made me sad. So many story avenues left unexplored, I'm guessing the story got axed in the original run. So many details that were mentioned and never explained. What an unfortunate ending for such a pretty art. Rated this 3 instead of 2 solely for the one-shot bonus story.
This was a cute ending to the story. I wish that the series was longer though, there's so many characters that we didn't even meet, and even those we have could be explored further.
