Austin Heat Book 2: The One That Got Away was everything I expected from the series ... and then some!
Book 1 in this Steamy Sports Romance Series ended in a cliffhanger when our heroine, Rakell McCarthy, found out that our hero, Jake Skyler, was actually a very famous NFL Quarterback.
This is problematic for Rakell because she needs to remain very discreet as she is secretly employed as a high-end escort on a long-term contract in Austin with her sweet best friend, Matt, who is scared to come out to his family. Book 1 ended on a cliffhanger because despite Rakell discovering Jake's identity, he still doesn't know hers.
As we begin Book 2, Rakell decides she can't get into a serious relationship with Jake until she is able to get her own life in order, end her remaining contracts with the escort agency and start her life anew.
Jake's heart is broken so he takes off to party in Miami, starts casually seeing a new fling and surprisingly runs into Rakell in a delicate situation...
Book 2 is actually much steamier than Book 1, but also much more heartwarming. There was a very sweet scene toward the end involving Matt and Rakell that had me crying happy tears.
I really enjoy this series because there is a great story, an element of mystery surrounding Rakell's past and some really heartwarming moments, in addition to the spice! I cannot read steamy romances with no substance (I get too bored), but this series keeps my attention and leaves me wanting to find out more about the main characters. Book 2 also ends wirh a twist and more of a cliffhanger (career and romance related for both MC), but that's ok because I dove right into Book 3!
I also love that the city of Austin is like a third main character in the series and Book 2 also takes us to my city, San Antonio!
A word of caution: I do not recommend reading this book if you are hungry because you will seriously start craving Chuy's Queso and some margaritas!!!

This is an absolute page-turner that had me hooked from start to finish. Set against the backdrop of Texas football, the story unfolds with the perfect blend of steamy romance and gripping sports drama. Jake Skyler and Rakell McCarthy's journey is both intense and heartwarming, making them characters you can't help but root for. Nylix's storytelling has a knack for unexpected twists, keeping the narrative engaging and full of surprises. The chemistry between Jake and Rakell is palpable, adding layers of depth to their characters. This second installment is even spicier than the first, and the anticipation builds steadily. Ending on a tantalizing cliffhanger, it left me eagerly awaiting the next installment. This series is a must-read if you're a sports romance fan with a side of heat and a generous sprinkle of unpredictability. Kudos to Amari Nylix for creating a truly binge-worthy experience!

Amari has done it again with this one. I absolutely loved the first book in this series where we got to know Jake and Rakell and this book was so entertaining. I do think that this one is spicier than the first, and it’s pretty steady throughout the book. I don’t normally think of romance books being full of twists and turns, but this one was full of them. There is so much angst and build up and then the ending – oh gosh. I wish the entire series was out now because I just don’t want it to stop, and I don’t say that often about series! This one does end on a pretty big cliff hanger, but it didn’t deter me, rather encouraged me to keep going.
I always enjoy getting to know authors, and I am happy that I got to talk to Amari Nylix after the first book came out. She is so kind and works so hard on this series. This really adds to my reading experience and makes the already great books even better.
If you are looking for a super spicy sports romance, then you should really check this one out.

Austin Heat is book two in a series and they must be read in order. This book picks up exactly where book one ends and I love that it had a recap chapter at the beginning so my memory was refreshed, although I loved book one so much that I knew exactly where it had left off.
Jake, oh my Jake… He is a player that wants very much to change his ways with Rakell. Rakell is finishing off her contracts and looking to start a new career. Book two starts with the two of them living separate lives and trying to move on from each other. I love, love, love that pull between them.
Book One is the book that Jake and Rakell got to know each other. Book Two is much steamier and sexier. There are twists and turns that kept me turning pages and blushing. I cannot wait for Book Three to be available.
This series perfect for the sexy sports romance reader.

Book two of six in Jake and Rakell’s will they or won’t they? finds them apart more than they are together and they are seeing other people during their break. We learn more about their pasts, especially Rakell’s, which gives us more insight into her decisions. Both of their careers are also a focus. This is just as spicy and smut-filled as book one and it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger! But don’t worry - book three is already out. This was a great book to cuddle up with during our cold snap in the Midwest. I recommend you start with book one and dive into this series!

I had the great privilege of pre-reading this book and OHHHH MYYYY GAWD!!! Thank you Amari for introducing me to my new favorite book boyfriend!! Bad news is that you created the perfect couple too!!! I love the heat, the angst, and most of all that their story is not predictable like so many other HEA stories!! EEEK can't wait for Book 3!!! Spoiler alert this book ends on a cliff hanger but a very delicious one!!! You are missing out if you don't give this binge worthy series a chance!! Amari's disclosure for the need of cold showers when reading this is SPOT ON!!

In the second book, Jake and Rakell are the center focus of this story. I read this one in a few hours, I needed to know what was happening between the two characters! We’re set in Texas, where football is the main event. I loved the romance and sports aspect of this, I couldn’t get enough of the story. The plot is full of surprises but keeps you wanting more. The writing is also another part that I love in this series. I know I’ll be needing to know what happens in the next book, because that cliffhanger had me in a chokehold!

It also comes with a very interesting plot playing in the background. Jake and Rakell really mesh and it just gets better as time goes by. Definitely read this book.

There is a lot going on in the story. Jake is a quarterback in the off season. Rakell is a young lady living a double life. The plot is interesting and nothing is resolved at the end of the book. Jake and Rakell are working and figuring out who they are alone and together.

This insanely intense second installment in the Austin Heat series is just as electrifying and burning hot as book 1. The chemistry is undeniable between Jake & Rakell is fiery and amazing to read. I’m diving right into book 3 right now!
