They call me the Ice Queen.
I take it as a compliment, because owning a pro hockey team requires a certain ruthlessness. But my penchant for ball busting has made me political enemies, and one of them has the clout to get me deported back to my home country of Russia. There’s only one solution: I have to get married, and fast.
Enter Colby Harrison.
He’s an easygoing forward on my team who meets my only requirement: he’s a single US citizen. I talk him into a fake, married only on paper arrangement, solving my problem. That is, until we move in together, clashing at every turn. We only get along in one place, which is how I discover that my aloof new husband is a different man in bed. He demands that I give up the one thing I cherish most: control.
I own him on paper. He owns me in the bedroom. And soon, I start wondering if I’m the only one who’s not faking it anymore.

This one was just ok for me. I didn't really buy into Mila and Colby actually falling for each other in their fake marriage. Also, with as much of a man-whore that Colby was, how was no one calling him out about being with different women right before getting married. Also, why wasn't there more grief from the team about the marriage or the public. Everything felt rushed and glossed over.

Cute and short fake marriage romance

OVERALL RATING: ⭐⭐⭐ It Was Okay

I enjoyed reading this story! It's amazing how much the author was able to cram into a book with less than 200 pages. It's got some sweet moments, spicy ones, and a couple of conflicts where feelings got hurt (loved the drama). And of course, I loved that this was supposed to be a marriage-of-convenience, but they suddenly got the feels after they let their walls down.

This is my first read from this author, and it was a good one. I may or may not pick up her other books out of curiosity, but it's not high on my priorities.

WHAT I LOVED 💕

💜 The billionaire team owner x hockey player dynamic was refreshing. (Powerful woman, yay!)
💜 Being with Colby made Mila discover and explore her soft side.
💜 Colby had a few realizations about himself.
💜 Communication is key. They didn't immediately trust each other 100%, but they were relatively open about what they felt, and they asked questions directly to get answers (Mila more than Colby).

WHAT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME 😞

It was so fast-paced that the scenes felt a little abrupt for some reason. There were also a couple of things I found questionable/confusing. One, she owns a hockey team while on a work visa? Is that possible? And then there was also her secret. She said it was a matter of life and death, but I didn't feel that she was taking as many precautions since Colby was able to easily follow her to where she went.

SWOON SCORE: 🦋🦋🦋 Cute Enough to Keep

I loved how Colby saw Mila. He respected her personality as a shrewd businesswoman and appreciated that she let him see her softer side.

Now that I’ve seen both sides of her, I can’t think of her only as a ball-busting, no-holds-barred team owner. I see the woman, too. The woman who was brave enough to be vulnerable in front of me, more than once.

Colby calling Mila "my wife" made me melt. I'm always weak for those claiming words, and I think I loved it here because it was supposed to be pretend, but somehow, whenever he called her that, it sounded sincere and possessive.

I want pics of you in my bed tonight. I miss my wife.

SPICE LEVEL: 🔥🔥🔥 Steamy but Tasteful

There were a few spicy scenes, but they weren't overly descriptive, dirty, or lengthy.

“You don’t just get up and leave this bed when I’m hard for you,” Colby says, his breath dancing over the skin of my ear and neck. “When we wake up together, you’ll spread your legs for me and I’ll play with your p*ssy for as long as I want. You can rule the whole f*cking world when you leave this bed, but when you’re here, I’m the one who’s in charge.”

DID I LAUGH? Some scenes made me smile, and a few made me laugh, like when Mila called him out about his bathroom habits.

DID I CRY? Nope.

DO I RECOMMEND THIS? ✅ YES. If you're looking for a short and sweet story about two commitment-phobes who suddenly found themselves falling in love.

Mila Pavlova is the owner of The Coyote Hockey Team. What will happen when she faces her biggest challenge - an impending deportation?

Will the Ice Queen melt, or find a way to stay in the states to focus on her team?

Nothing can get in the way of rebuilding the arena, will this keep her off the ice forever?

Will a crazy plan to keep her in the states work? The risks could destroy multiple lives, careers, and take her away from what matters most.

If you're in the mood for a sports romance that has:

🏒 Hero that is a H-O-T Hockey Player
🏒 Heroine who is a sexy NHL Team owner who is power hungry and
willing to do just about anything to avoid leaving the country.
🏒 Scorchin Chemistry
🏒 Marriage of Convenience
🏒 Opposites Attract
🏒 Secrets
🏒 Sexy Banter
🏒 Everyone needs a Quentin in their lives

Scorchin Hot Read ☕🔥🔥🔥🔥
Caution, may lead to unexpected need to turn on the A/C. So steamy the pages ignite. May include a dash of Erotic elements or allude to further exploration of desire and need.

There is plenty of page turning fun with a fast paced plot, plenty of dirty talk, banter, hilarious laugh-out-loud scenes, and layers of sinfully sweet scorchin' heat

While this is the third installment in the Colorado Coyotes series it can be read as a standalone. If you find yourself craving more from these hunky guys reading The Donor and The Opponent now.

If you are a fan of hockey romance and enjoy Sawyer Bennett, Lauren Blakely, Cathryn Fox, or Kate Meader you might enjoy this series. Brenda's backlist has other hockey books to keep you busy reading for days too!

Thank you Brenda Rothert for the advance reader copy for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

It doesn’t matter what Brenda Rothert writes, chances are I’m going to love it. That being said, I feel kind of bad saying this one is OK.

Colby is a pro hockey player for the Colorado Coyotes. Mila is the team owner who’s originally from Russia although she’s lived in the US for quite some time now. Her father is a member of the Russian mob back in Russia and doesn’t have much to do with his daughter other than giving her a huge chunk of money she’s successfully invested.

She has run afoul of the governor of the state and she learns she is being deported back to Russia. One of the ways she comes up with to stay in the US is to marry. Because she’s the owner of a NHL team, she has a lot of single players to choose from and Colby, being extremely fine to look at is her choice.

She proses they marry so she can stay and because there is something she can do for him, he agrees and they marry. That’s pretty much the story.

Because Brenda writes such short books now, everything is glossed over. Getting married to an American to stay in the US is not an easy thing to do. My sister met and fell in love with a guy from the States and for her to move to the States, they had to jump through hoops. And she’s from CANADA. I think it would be a whole lot tougher if one is Russian with a Russian mobster for a father would be next to impossible.

Plus, she’s not only just his boss, she’s the OWNER of the team but the two different levels is barely mentioned.

While Colby isn’t bad as a her, we don’t really get to know that much about him. Same for Mila. She has the potential to be a fascinating character but we barely get to know her.

So while I’m glad I read The Proposal, overall I couldn’t help but think that this book needs to be much longer.

I’m a big fan of Brenda Rothert and her hockey romances especially; this one didn’t disappoint. The premise is fake dating / marriage: Mila, known as the Ice Queen and a volatile Russian billionaire in exile, has managed to piss off a local politician and is under threat of being deported. Using her status as team owner of the Colorado Coyotes to orchestrate a fake marriage for a green card, she decides on Colby, who of course is a player in every sense of the word - he agrees on the condition that she help his brother further his own hockey career. So far, so straightforward romance novel set-up, so of course a heavy dose of attraction comes along to derail them.

These two aren’t quite sure what to make of each other, with some instances of miscommunication due to lack of trust. Colby especially wonders what he’s gotten himself into - Mila is so used to being in charge, which is not how he operates, at all. As two figure out their way to inevitable happy ending, what really stands is the laconic, droll dialogue between not only the two leads but also Colby and his team - I have a soft spot for Ms Rothert’s particular way of writing s*** talking and you can definitely tell that she’s a hockey fan and has spent some time in some locker rooms!

This was possibly my favourite book in the series, and I’m looking forward to the next one.

As soon as I saw a post for this book, i wanted to read it. Having picked up this author's work quite a few times before had me looking forward to reading it even more! I got right into the Colorado Coyotes world! I so enjoyed this story!

Mila and Colby's journey captured my attention quickly! Mila is the owner of the Colorado Coyotes Hockey team and Colby is a forward for her team. When circumstances lead Mila to needing a husband so she asks Colby. Can Mila and Colby fake it and then go their own ways? Or can this unexpected arrangement be the goal they needed?

I really liked how both Mila and Colby had my attention quickly. I admired Mila's strength. I didn't know how Colby and Mila would tackle everything from marriage to their feelings which got me even more into their story. The chemistry between Mila and Colby was so good! I adored the sides they brought out in each other.

It was so fun getting into the Colorado Coyotes world for the first time! From hockey to the fake marriage, there were so many aspects to this story that I enjoyed!

With The Proposal, Ms.Rothert has created such a good read that showed that sometimes the unexpected can be everything! I can't wait to go back and read the two previous installments as well!

This was such a real and great story! Colby and Mila had a fake marriage to help Mila stay in the US when there was a menace she could be deported back to Russia. But once they were married, it seems like they looked at each other and felt like, hmmm, I like this person, I could enjoy being married to him/her. They had some good sexy times and several good and strong spats.

Mila has a strong and volatile temper, and Colby has some issues that he keeps so contained that even he didn’t understand them until they exploded in his face. So their first months of married life were stormy but heartfelt, and they gave it a good try.

I felt like when they finally made it, it was after a good strong battle and they came through stronger and better persons that before. It was an entertaining and different read and I loved it!

There’s some friends interaction, I love Beau and Ford ribbing Colby, Elle appears once again and we laugh at Mila’s continued mistrust of her, Colby has a few emotional moments related to his brother and how they overcame a crappy childhood. Love how personal issues combine with a great love story to give it a greater depth and humanity. As always with this author, a great read!

New Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

September has been a great book month, and what a way to finish!

I'm absolutely loving The Coyotes series by @brendarothert and The Proposal is a fantastic 3rd instalment to the series!

The Proposal involves a fake marriage between billionaire Russian Ice Queen Mila, who is the Coyotes owner, and Colby, one of her players who is a bit of a ladies' man. Mila has made a political enemy and needs to get married to stop deportation

Sparks fly, the chemistry is hot, and the story is paced really well. It's another sure-fire hit from Rothert who writes hockey romance extremely well. I'd choose Colby, too, if I needed a marriage of convenience.

On a side note, if you love the excellent writing in Rothert's hockey romance, go and check out her books set in the amazing small town of Sven's Beard Mr. Right Now, and Mr. Ice Guy - they're both exceptional, and I fell in love with the town

The Proposal is available now and can be read as a standalone, but I'd recommend reading the first two in the series The Donor and The Opponent

5-stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What happens when the Ice Queen needs a favor? And not just a teeny-tiny favor but a huge, life-altering one? She propositions the single, great looking guy who just happens to be her employee - of course! What should have been a run of the mill, fake marriage romance was so much more. We gain insight into what makes Mila tick and soon realize that the Ice Queen is human and does actually feel emotions - like love and loyalty- quite strongly. And we see the driving force behind Colby’s decision to help - his loyalty to and love for his brother - mirror Mika’s.

I loved how their relationship unfolded and progressed - both of the showing their vulnerability to each other. But along with vulnerability comes the ability to trust which is something neither of these 2 have ever experienced. You will be rooting for them to take this final step and allow their relationship to continue to grow and flourish!

And Quentin! He is the best side character and best buddy/assistant anyone could ever have and I would like one too please! Would love to see

I love the Colorado Coyotes Series and I excited when I heard we were getting team owner Mila Pavlova’s story what I didn’t expect was for the Ice Queen to end up falling for Colby Harrison the player who agreed to become her fake husband…….
Mila has upset too many people while building her business empire, she is strong, determined but also vulnerable because she is now being threatened with deportation. To avoid being sent back to Russia she needs to marry as soon as possible and that’s where Colby comes in.
It was meant to be fake but as they spend time together feelings come bubbling to the surface and the chemistry builds to a point that’s hard to walk away from. So what happens when lines are crossed will this marriage of convenience have a fairytale ending…….
The Proposal has it all, I smiled, I swooned, I sighed and I held my breath as I found myself cheering this couple on. It’s a captivating story with wonderful characters and it’s a great addition to the series.

I loved this story!!! Warning though, do not start reading at night, because otherwise you are going to stay up reading all night like I did! I just could not stop!

When team owner Mila faces deportation, she asks one of her players, Cole to marry her. He agrees, not because he wants money, but because of his brother (totally fell in love with Cole right then!). They shock the team and the world when they announce their marriage, but they work really hard to convince everyone it is real.

They barely know each other, and both have things in their past that they do not share with anyone, but secrets between spouses are difficult, especially when their feelings for each other deepen daily.

I loved this story, there were lots of really funny and playful moments between these two that made me love this story even more.

I cannot wait for more in this series, there are several players I cannot wait to find their HEAs!

This was the first time I have read this author, and I will read other books by her in the future. I enjoyed this story. It was nice that the billionaire is the female owner of the team, and the H is "only" a millionaire. This was in other ways a common have to get married troupe. What was nice was they definitely entered as equals and honestly, if anyone had an advantage, it was the h for once. She was a strong female character and it also introduced ideas about the perception of a strong woman (negative) vs strong man (positive) and how society treats them differently for the same actions.

Other reviewers have mentioned that the H goes from a man-whore to immediately dedicated husband.. not really although it was a quick change in behavior and

This is the third book in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. This is the story of Mila and Colby. She is the cutthroat owner of a professional hockey team and he is one of their star players. Mila has ticked off a powerful politician to the point that she is being threatened with deportation. Now she finds that her only solution is to marry and fast…

These two characters have pasts that have made them tough and independent. Neither one does commitment so the idea of pulling off this marriage seems a bit unlikely. But once they get together they begin to tear down walls and actually fight to keep their relationship alive.

This story takes us into the stories of their pasts and how it has made them who they are. There are several tender moments, some angst, love and good relationships. There is good sexy time too and a good ending. If you are looking for a quick and enjoyable read, give this a chance. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Colorado Coyotes #3

Mila Pavlova is 30 and is known as the Ice Queen and is the owner of the Colorado Coyotes.

She's been in the US on a work visa for seven years but now the visa isn't being renewed and she's being deported back to Russia. And because of who she is, they will kill her.
Her attorney gives her a suggestion that she could marry a US citizen and it would solve her problem. But to whom?

Colby Harrison is 27 and a forward on the Coyotes team and is single. He thinks it's a prank when she asks him but it's no joke. A fake marriage, on paper only and he agrees with one request. Done!

Once they move in together it's a different situation. They have chemistry but there's still secrets between them.
Can they get past it all and find happiness together?

I could not put this one down!
I literally read it in one day! I started it on my lunch break and could hardly wait to get home to finish it.

Mila is the tough as nails owner of the Denver Coyotes. She’s a beautiful billionaire who might have ties to the mafia and is considered an ice queen.
Colby is one of her players… a really well liked player who is sweet, light and fun.
When Mila finds out she’s going to be deported she decides to find herself a husband. She knows Colby is single so she makes him an offer he can’t refuse. What starts off as a marriage of convenience turns into love. After a bunch of issues of course. :)
I enjoyed this story and I am looking forward to more stories in this series. Brenda is amazing at writing entertaining hockey romances.

I read The Proposal as a complete standalone. I am happy to find out it is book three of a four book series. I have two books to catch up and meet the couples I want to know about. What can I say about this book? It’s a marriage of convenience, sports romance, told in dual points of view. She’s dominating and commanding in the outside world but he’s in control in the bedroom. Everything I love in a book is in this one.

Mila has a story to tell that includes keeping walls up when it involves her personal life. Colby has his own issues from his past, but his most important person is his brother. Mila and Colby together can conquer the world and be a non-stoppable force. What starts out as an arrangement quickly turns into an unbreakable bond. Fabulous story and easy to savor each page.

This was another good hockey story by Ms. Rothert. Mila owned the Colorado Coyotes and was known as the ice queen. She was lucky she had a work visa as she was from Russia—that is until the governor of Colorado decides he dislikes her and is having her deported. I loved that the only way she could stay in the US was if she was married. Colby Harrison is good looking, single, and one of her players so she explained her problem and asked him to marry her and she would do whatever he wanted. The two are married and their relationship was up and down. I loved how the two started trusting each other and really got to know one another. I encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Fake dating or marriage is one of my favorite tropes in a book so I was very excited to see this one especially since it also has hockey in it.

I loved the book and couldn't put it down once I started reading it.

Colby and Mila did not expect the chemistry to be as great as it was when they agreed to their arrangement. Like all good fake dating romances these two fall head over heels for each other. I loved seeing the relationship between them grow.

More and more lately we are seeing books being written about the owners of the sports teams and not just the players themselves. This is another book that has done the same thing since Mila is the owner of the Coyote hockey team.

This was a great addition to the series!

I just enjoy this author’s sports/hockey romance. This 5 star story was addicting and a page turner.

Mila owns the Colorado Coyotes hockey team but she finds herself in a bit of trouble. Colby plays for said team and he’s single and perfect for what Mila needs. But little did they know it will turn into something else. .

Once I started I was hooked. It was full of unexpected turns that pulled on my heartstrings. A storyline that was addicting and captivating. The characters were perfectly created and had some great chemistry. Bottomline this is a must read.

Although it’s part of a series it can be read as a standalone. Told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.

I loved everything about this book. She is the beautiful Russian owner of a hockey team, dubbed “The Ice Queen” for her hard as nails style. He’s one of her star players, not interested in a relationship. Mila & Colby seem to have nothing in common except their love of hockey, but she needs a big favor from him. And maybe he wants something from her as well. Get ready for a roller coaster ride with these two as their marriage of convenience becomes something much, more more. I’m a sucker for hockey romances anyway & Brenda Rothert is one of more favorite writers in this genre. Definitely a 5-star read!

Brenda Rothert does it again 😊 another fantasic read.

Loved Colby & Mila's story.
The Ice Queen Mila the owner of the Colorado Coyotes is on the verge of deportation thanks for the govner of Colorado who has taken a dislike to her,  her only option is to get married.
Colby is one the Colorado Coyotes ice hockey players who she knows is single, she makes him an offer he can not refuse.
What starts off as a marriage of convenience soon becomes alot more 😍
There is alot of ups and downs along the way but can Colby finally melt the ice queen.

This series if a fantastic read, hopefully there is more to it as I do love a good hockey romance ❤️

Fast Paced, Guarded Hearts, Fake Relationship, Forced Proximity - this installment checks so many boxes for me.
Quick - Mila needs a husband! She is facing deportation which spells torture and death for her in her home country of Russia.
She owns a hockey team, so she has quite an assortment of bachelors to choose from but who wants to marry the Ice Queen?
Colby Harrison will fit the bill, right? Sadly, emotions muddy the water and somehow this fake relationship carries some very real feelings.
Can you handle the secrets they both carry? It will be a challenge for their hearts as well as yours.

Mila and Colby enter into a mutually beneficial relationship. She won't get deported and his brother can realize his dream of playing professional hockey. They each think feelings won't get involved, but soon realize they are both wrong. They each had a lot of growing up to do and it was painful to read at points at how childish they each were. She throws tantrums and claims not to know how to act and he wasn't much better. You would never know they were professional adults for most of this book. I just didn't feel much of a connection between them. I would give it 2.5 stars but this was not my favorite book in this series at all.

Overall, this book was okay. The main characters were really easy to buy into and the spicy scenes were very detailed and thought out. As for the overall premise of the story, even though the story is fiction, it is hard to believe that the situation could happen without more media scrutiny, and questions. I would have liked to see a little bit more in depth about Colby and Mila‘s personal backstory and everything that happened. I think they could also have provided more details to their relationship and made this story more expansive than just a little blurb that it was.

Overall, very good book and I would read again . I’m excited to read the other books in the series.

Quite a big ask...
Can I ask you for a favor? Um, I know I'm your boss but I need you to marry me.
Mila, owner of the Coyotes hockey team, angered the wrong politician and now he's threatening to have her visa revoked and deport her back to Russia.
A quick small but beautiful wedding takes place and other *things* start moving along quickly as well.
This is such a fun book!! Little problems popping up here and there to make for a bumpy fake/legally dangerous marriage. Small (& big, literally) fires lighting up that need to be extinguished right away Love it!!

Entertaining story.

So Mila and Colby are great together once they get over themselves. BUT miscommunications and lack of communication get in the way for a lot of their early relationship. I admit I wasn't a big fan of Mila's - I felt she was a bit TOO submissive in the bedroom, but Colby drove me crazy with his refusal to be forthright about his past which caused a HUGE rift in the beginning.

If you've been following this series - it will be fun to see where couples are now and how friendships evolve. If not - this one does stand alone.

Entertaining story nonetheless. These two just aren't my favorite Coyotes couple.

I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.

Colby and Mila are the cutest couple. What started or as a business deal become love. It is so sweet to hear how they become each others person. Reading this book and reading how everything is written makes you feel like you’re there witnessing it. That’s what I love about Brenda Rothert’s books. I couldn’t put this book down. It’s definitely one of my top favorites. Both from different upbringings but somewhat the same. They learned to love together. This is a great book that you won’t want to Put down!

I'm such a fan of this author's writing style, I really love the way she tells stories and the characters.

I'm liking the whole coyote team dynamic.

For me though there wasn't enough thought and back story around him and his behaviour. He says he was two months no sex but when he told he has to speak to Mila for the first time he's worried his antics with two women is behind it. Yet this then gets blurred, he then introduces another hookup and claims he met her after that. Its a shame as this impacted my enjoyment and I really wanted this one to be a 5 star read
