A ragtag crew stumbles upon the secret to preventing galactic war... When newly unemployed dock worker Salome Jones inherits a near-derelict spaceship from an uncle she never heard of, she thinks she finally has the key to freedom.
Joining forces with Skyler Rysen, a charming rogue with an urgent (if not exactly on the up-and-up) cargo, Salome and the crew of Luminous Void set out on their first mission.
Unfortunately, some things are too good to be true.
Unbeknownst to Salome and company, the ship has a bounty on it and a secret hidden in its databanks that could start a galactic war, and somebody wants that secret badly enough to capture the ship and kill all her crew.
Salome has no intention of letting her faceless enemies get their hands on the secret, but what can one small ship and her ragtag crew do against all the forces arrayed against them?
The answer whatever they have to!

Motley Crew💃🐺👹🐰🐱 Adult themed Sci-fi Space opera. The world building is great, albeit grim, and the LV's crew is a wonderful, motley group of characters. I love Sweetums, Demi, and Tano. Salome is great as the collector of strays and ship peacemaker/captain. There is graphic violence with an associated (and sad) body count. The story is a fast-paced, thrilling tale of accidental exploration, friendship, acceptance, and danger. I'm looking forward to the crew's next adventure.
I had so much fun reading this novel. It was space opera at its finest. Character-driven. A crazy collection of crew members. Ancient space relics and technology. Space ship battles. Even a mutant talking cat. I bought this directly from the author at a festival. The next time I saw him, I immediately bought the next two sequels.
Forget your boring, predictable space operas. Luminous Void bursts onto the scene with a bang, injecting a shot of pure, unadulterated fun into the sci-fi genre. We're talking sexy smugglers, swashbuckling space pirates, and a feline companion with a brain the size of a nebula.
Hunting the remnants of an ancient civilization, our unlikely heroes stumble upon mysterious technology and unravel the secrets of a forgotten race. But it's not all about galactic puzzles and dusty artifacts. This crew is as diverse as they come, with a giant-rabbit man and a team dynamic that's reminiscent of a Mos Eisley cantina brawl gone hilariously right.
Think Tank Girl's punk rock attitude thrown into a blender with Captain Jack Harkness's insatiable charisma, then sprinkled with the comedic genius of Guardians of the Galaxy. Add a dash of 5th Element's futuristic flair, a generous helping of Babylon 5's political intrigue, and a healthy dose of Firefly's ragtag charm, and you have the intoxicating cocktail that is the Luminous Void universe.
This is a galaxy that celebrates its differences, where species from all corners of the cosmos come together to forge unlikely alliances and embark on thrilling adventures. Get ready for a wild ride, because Luminous Void doesn't let up for a second. It's a story that grabs you by the collar, throws you headfirst into a vibrant, chaotic world, and leaves you grinning. So, buckle up and prepare to blast off into a sci-fi adventure.
This is a novel with a lot of interesting concepts, some fascinating settings and intelligent problems for the protagonists to solve. Overall, this is above-average science fiction, helped along in the narrative with a wide range of interesting characters with complex backstories.
There are also a lot of gay characters with a lot of gay sex stuff going on. So the real question posed by this novel is this: is there a lesbian version of this story? Will we see more lesbian representation in later entries in this series, particularly of the attractive lipstick variety? Asking for a friend.
