Darren Black has been watching beautiful, aloof sub Nikolai for some time. Nic is the pushiest bottom he’s ever seen. Doms don’t stick with him for long, but Darren plans on being the one who does.
After spending a night together in one intense scene after another, Darren introduces Nic to the pleasures of waking up with a lover.
Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and persuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago."
A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.
Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.
I loved how the Dom searched the connection with Nikolai.
The first book was about an established couple (celebrating their one-year relationship with penetrative sex), this one is about a totally new couple, having their first scene ever. And the best part was how the Top met all the needs of his pushy bottom, not letting Nic to push him away and sticking to his side all the night.
*****Welcome to fluffy-bdsm-land***** It was told from Doms POV, which I just loved. He was so fucking Sexy, Sweet and Oh so very patient. Nic, he's was just an adorable brat, who had a hard time admitting to his needs, which just made him more adorable.
I wish it was longer, but I'm happy with what I got.

PROS: - I enjoyed reading about a BDSM club that’s not the Hammer. Don’t get me wrong: I love the Hammer universe, but it’s very much a fantasy…incredibly upscale, high-end with only very wealthy patrons. The characters and setting here are more down to earth, more accessible. - I liked the narrator’s confidence. (I think some readers will find him off-puttingly arrogant, though.) I also liked that he admits that he needs Nikolai as badly as Nikolai needs him.
CONS: - The story is way too short for this sort of character. We never even find out why Nikolai is so standoffish. - I wanted to see inside of Nikolai’s head. Aloof characters can be complex and interesting, but the first-person narration makes that impossible here.
Overall comments: This shows the beginning of what could be an intense connection, but it doesn’t give the characters any room to develop. Stories this short (approximately 750 Kindle locations) almost always leave me feeling dissatisfied because there’s not enough room to develop the characters adequately. That is certainly the case here, and perhaps even more so than usual: someone as bratty/pushy/difficult as Nikolai is needs more than a few chapters for me to be convinced of any kind of transformation.
I liked the pair. I'm debating whether to give it 3 or 3.5 stars.
However, by the end of the book, I could understand Nic better, see where his resistance was stemming from and feel Black had applied just the right pressure and dominance to get his point across and break through Nic's emotional walls.
With a focus on figuring out what it is the gorgeous sub really needs, this story is told from the Dom's point of view and gives insight into the kind of thought that goes into a caring D/s relationship. One that isn’t as easy as some, since Nikolai clearly has an issue with submitting, and if Darren cannot figure it out, he'll be pushed away like all the other Doms before him.
I've read enough from Sean Michael that I can say, with absolute confidence, his work will never garner more than three stars from me. His stories are somewhat entertaining, but they're not particularly involved, some of the technical aspects are lacking, and I often find myself bored. Still, he's a semi-decent storyteller, so I'll give credit where credit is due.
Hot, sexy, exciting - I really liked this little peek into the beginning of a relationship. To give more than 3 stars, I would need a bit more of a story though.

Master Black, Darren, has seen Nikolai sub for many Doms but he is constantly being a bratty, pushy bottom and the Doms ease off. Darren sees the need in Nick and knows he can be the right Dom for him.
-spanking as punishment for swearing -light bondage -fisting - aftercare
I have to admit that I kinda lost my eagerness to read Sean Michael after all the unsatisfactory reads of Hammer, but this series seems to be quite refreshing and hot let's hope it'll continue like that.
Pushy Bottom by Sean Michaels is a short but very entertaining story about a bottom who pushes and pushes until he meets a top who pushes back just as hard. The blurb covers the major points of the story, so there's really nothing I can add.
This is a character driven story with a smooth plot flow. The characters are solid, and display genuine emotions. The sex is hot and steamy, with a touch of kink to add spice to the mixture. The author's writing style is straightforward, clear, concise, and has a touch of humor to lighten it all. The story has a HEA ending and I found nothing to dislike about it. If you're looking for a quick read that has hot men, hot sex, and a touch of kink, then this is the story for you.
Honestly, this book wasn't memorable. It has been a little while since I have read it and I can't recall a lot of it. I only gave it a rating of two because it was an easy flow to read. Pretty much Darren has had his eye on Nic for a while. Nic has some (personal) issues that stem from a past relationship. Since he was hurt in his previous relationship(as in used... etc) he isn't very trusting of others. So, Nic flaunts around the scene but not willing to settle down. That is until Darren is approaches him. Perhaps they are both exactly what the other needs. That is if Darren is able to break down Nic's walls and gains his trust.
Wow, I don't I've ever given 2 1/2 stars to a Sean Michael. I've enjoyed several of his books, some more than others, but usually they are solid reads for me.
I didn't care for this one. It wasn't horrible. It was pretty short, so we get no background for either character. Without background, I just couldn't like Nic....or really care one way or the other for Darren.
I think, if this was made longer, with more background, and more fleshed out, it would make a good story. But as it is, it didn't work for me.
A fun BDSM book - it doesn't go too far as it's a short story but has great character development. Sean Michael always knows how to make the characters and story interesting and the sex hot!
There are currently 7 books in this series and they are all stand-alone. Each one is a fairly short read and they are very different so they can be read one right after the other or interspersed between other books.
Nothing too extreme that I absolutely unsexy and uncomfortable.. well, fisting is barely in so so ok category. This usually doesn't stop me from pushing boundaries or reading something I'm not totally into (I.E bondage, S&M, Dom/sub) I actually have a read a few that I surprisingly did like.
I like that this guy isn't letting himself get pushed away no matter what. I kind of expected more pushing but since this is fast paced not really seeing this as much I expect would normally be the case.
Totally loved this short story. Loved that Nic was pushy and that Master Black knew how to push back. The tug/push of their interaction was just beautiful to read. And I loved that Nic made made his master work for his submission. Who likes an easy sub? I certainly don't. Fabulous. My favourite BDSM read of the year so far.
The idea of the story seemed good to me, but I didn't like the execution. The sub keeps complaining that he doesn't want to do whatever, with the dom insisting he knows better, etc is very boring to me. It also feels like the reader did not get to know the MC at all, I only know his name from the blurb.
I enjoyed this, but I have to confess I like longer books. I would have loved to see what Nic was hiding, what was in his past that shaped him, and to see the two men together a little more, but for a quick read encompassing one night, it was cute
Book two is a much better read, much more open and responsive in context. The two people getting to know each other breaking down well placed egos for both. This book worth the money spent ,worth the time to read and enjoy.
