Tina Hudson has spent the past two years on the road. Her busy sales job provides the perfect way to ease the painful memories of losing her husband to cancer. Now she’s tired of running from her loneliness. Tina suspects her brawny neighbor has been leaving single red roses in her mailbox, but he’s the strong, silent type – the kind that should come with a warning label.
Wade Scott has felt dead inside over the miscarriage of his son and the disintegration of his marriage. When Tina moves next door, Wade comes alive again. Problem is, she’s a beautiful sales whiz and he’s an ordinary plumber with a wicked scar along his temple. With little hope of attracting her attention, he showers her with anonymous acts of kindness.
As New Year’s Eve approaches, Tina discovers that Wade is the guardian angel who’s been watching over her for the past six months. She doesn’t know what to do. Should she jump at a new job offer that will keep her busy enough to forget her loneliness, or take a chance the strong, silent type might fill her heart, and her home, with love?
Lynn Kellan writes romance about strong men who have a weakness for smart women. She believes men and women aren't that different - we both want to be with someone who will empty the dishwasher.
Lynn also reads stuff, makes stuff, and laughs about stuff. Do you, too? Let's be friends!!
There is nothing wrong with this story - it's a romance and short - exactly what it purports to be. The writing is good, the characters are - and that is the problem for me! I would have liked to have known more about them, seen them flashed out a good deal more.
Perhaps because of the brevity of the story, the reader is only advised of the bare bones of the character's background. We find out a little of what they are thinking - and of course, the misunderstandings are there - but maybe is it a measure of the skill of the writer that she left me wanting more.
In my opinion, the author missed an opportunity to write a top class, full length novel.
This was a very sweet, short romantic book. Tina Hudson, is trying to start over after the death of her husband and Wade Scott is trying to live again, after his wife has a miscarriage and then divorces him. They are neighbors, so getting to know each other is easy, or should be, except that Wade is not a big talker. His actions however, should speak louder than any words. The main characters in this book are very lovable, such a sweet read!!
Tina and Wade are two very different people, she's highly educated and he's a plumber on the surface they appear to have little in common apart from the fact that they're neighbours but they've both suffered the loss of a loved one and are coping the only way they know how to, Tina is throwing herself into work and travelling all the time trying to run away and Wade is silent and closed off. Could it be possible for these two opposites to attract and heal each other. This book was beautiful, it was beautifully written with wonderful characters there wasn't anything about this book that I didn't like, if you want a nice romance then this is the book to read.
Wade Scott is The Strong, Silent Type and just the opposite of the type of man that Tina Hudson, a chemist always pictured as her mate for life.
Tina has been traveling for the past two years since she lost her first husband to cancer. Wade has a scar on his face and is quiet and keeps to himself since his first wife lost his baby and his marriage fell apart. Tina is ready to give up on Wade until he opens up on New Year's Eve and they find they can communicate with one another.
The Strong, Silent Type is a second chance love for both main characters and is well developed and a sweet story that I enjoyed.
This is a novella. The characters are utterly engaging and the romance is particularly sweet. There's engaging humor, too. If you're in the mood for a quickie romance that makes you feel good, this is it.
