Even for experienced facilitators, putting together a 2-hour workshop can be daunting.
Where to start? What to include? How to engage the audience? How to create impact and positive results? Above all, how to do all this quickly and effectively?
Drawing on years of experience designing and delivering workshops all over the world, Leanne Hughes' '2-Hour Workshop Blueprint' gives you a formula to create sessions that hit the mark every time. Leanne's SPARK framework takes you step by step, from first contact with a client all the way through to post-session review and follow-up.
Cut your design & development time and create impactful and memorable sessions that engage participants from the start. Leave them asking, when's your next workshop?
I want to plan purposeful and effective workshops for teachers that aren’t boring and a “sit and get”. This book presents a template for creating such experiences for teachers. I will spend this summer with the SPARK template for a meeting at the start of next SY. It’s important to me to get this right for them.
Straight to the point. I would argue it is the only book you would need if you prepare a workshop. Of course, from it you can dig deeper, but it covers all necessary aspects.
Leanne Hughes shares her SPARK framework for creating engaging, memorable workshops. As a seasoned speaker and trainer, my goal was to learn more about others' tactics for engaging their audience and I got that out of this. This covers the whole process from planning the workshop to how to set your attendees and yourself up for a successful engagement.
I look forward to mixing it up with even more options for activities besides the ones I already incorporate in my practices.
If you're a trainer or conference speaker looking for ways to build engaging workshops, this is a great little guidebook a quick read!
A great short read prior to providing a presentation. I always do try to stick to the three priorities we want participants to take from the workshop. Something that I find complicated is how to time 2-hours. I always end up providing a short break (something not mentionnned in this book) but I find that sitting for that long without allowing people to look at their phones causes more distraction.
It was great to read some tips on how to create variety within the activities.
This book is geared more toward presenters who orchestrate business meetings and personnel training. I was looking for information regarding workshops in academic settings, so much of it did not apply to me. However, the advice was practical and thoroughly understandable.
I’ve known Leanne Hughes for many years, and after attending many of her workshops was delighted to read her first book, the 2-hour workshop Blueprint.
What I love about the book is its highly practical, and using her SPARKS framework guides you through all the steps of what to do before the workshop to create engagement, how to focus on three core topics, and how to engage and create stickiness afterward.
She gives practical templates that are downloadable in Word and easy to use. I also loved the question examples and activity ideas for breakout rooms.
After reading this book, you will be inspired to change the next workshop you are running. Funny enough, I have one on tomorrow, and I am ready to make the tweaks to make it even more engaging, with contrast and stickiness.
