The Medusa Fold
Could disaster fall upon the new starship Gabriel on its maiden voyage?
Edward Virr and his crew are given an easy task by Commander Bache Loftt and the President of the GDA. Find two errant vessels and report their position. A simple enough job and one they can use to shake down their new bigger and more powerful starship.
What they hadn’t foreseen, was two of their sworn enemies meeting up and combining forces to enact vengeance on not only the crew of the Gabriel, but on Dasos, the home planet of the galactic council itself.
Events rapidly escalate out of control as the crew get split up, their ship is stolen and an attempt to outwit a foe so powerful he can move planets has a surprising and unexpected outcome.
A tale of hate, recrimination and ingrained maliciousness that strikes at the Gabriel’s crew and the major power brokers within the galactic council.
Nick Adams grew up in a small village near Maidstone in Kent, England and right from an early age was a fervent NASA, space and Apollo fan. After watching the first moon landing in 1969 and the subsequent moon missions that followed, he discovered science fiction books and cut his teeth reading Asimov, E. E. Doc Smith and Alan Dean Foster. In more recent times, Andy Weir and Peter F Hamilton to name but two, have joined them on the bookshelves. After serving in the British Army for several years, Nick became a publican, managing and later owning his own village pubs for a number of years before moving to Brisbane in Australia where he began writing his own space opera, and the Fold series was born. In late 2018 he returned to the UK, where the next adventures in the series evolved, along with the ‘Bache Loftt’ spin-off series. Nick writes the kind of stories he would like to read. The Fold Series is set a little in the future and based around upcoming NASA technology. The series features normal everyday people put into extraordinary circumstances, with realistic reactions, humour and language. After all, nobody would say ‘oops’ if a 14km-long alien starship de-cloaked next to them. Head over to his website to sign up to the Reader Group, and Nick will personally keep you up to date with his bi-monthly newsletters about what novels he’s currently reading, cover reveals, book launch dates and general progress on his current project. Lastly, don't forget to leave a review if you enjoy the books. It only needs to be a few words and it helps spread the word about these exciting space opera stories. Superb story from beginning to end, great action with characters well developed and fully integrated into the plot. Unexpected twists add genuine enrichment to the plot . I reckon that E.E "Doc" Smith would have appreciated this one.
Another brilliant addition to the series and still loads of untapped aspects of the story, hopefully they keep coming! I get the feeling this one was quite special for the author it's quite a personal tale compared to the earlier books. Loves the two Grey hounds..
Action packed page turner. Never wanted it to end. The characters are loveable, the plot is easy enough to follow, and the relaxation effect is maximum. I look forward to reading the next in the series!
