Irina is the apple of Ashtons eye. He is always watching Irina. He watches her at work. And while she sleeps. He takes care of her and keeps her safe. From a distance. One day, he wants to be Irina's husband. But until then, he watches from the shadows.
“Someone once told me that stalking is a form of harassment, but I must wholeheartedly disagree.”
Ashton is an older man who has grown infatuated with Irina, a college student who works at a local Starbucks. He stalks her constantly, though he doesn’t consider it stalking since he’s only checking up on her to make sure that she’s okay. Sure, he lets himself into her home and watches her sleep. That’s normal, right?!?
I won’t give anything away, suffice it to say that Eve Fell accomplished something few authors are able to do…pull the wool over my eyes. Usually, I can see a plot twist coming miles away. Fell deviates from well-trudged, predictable roads and went down a different path entirely. The ending, while completely unexpected, was greatly satisfying. This short story definitely packs a nice punch!
Oh, Eve, is there anything that isn’t amazing coming from you lately!? Three freaking bangers from this gal and I am a stan for sure.
Ashton has a type, (don’t we all). He pays their bills, visits them at work, and keeps them safe from the bad guys… except him. When Irina becomes his next potential victim, previous loves of Ashton’s life come back to haunt him. Will Irina be his happily ever after?
Fell has a way of sucking the readers in and not letting go. She gives us a story each time that is not only going to knock our socks off but give us whiplash from the twists and turns she hands out like candy on Halloween. This one is no exception. Each story she writes is better than the last and that is so hard to do. She’s an autobuy for me and she should be for you too.
Ashton loves Irina. He would absoutely do anything for her. He makes sure she gets home from work safe, pays her cell phone bill as a surprise, and he knows one day he will be a great husband. Too bad she has no idea who Ashton is or what his intentions are. He watches from a distance until the time is right.
This is Eves third outing and this is hands down her best. Don't get me wrong her first two are solid tales but this one really showcases what a talent she is. Remember her name because she is one to look out for. Don't take it from me, grab a copy and see for yourself. I look forward to her future releases. Check it out!
A really good story with interesting characters that definitely takes a few turns I wasn't expecting. Could have probably done with another pass, but looking forward to reading plenty more from Eve.
“Someone once told me that stalking is a form of harassment, but I must wholeheartedly disagree.”
Okay. First sentence drew me in a bit. I heard a synopsis of this book on tiktok and was excited to read it, it sounded absolutely wild and exciting. But before even getting through the first paragraph, I thought to myself: “Oh no. Another bad, boring, unedited short story labeled as an “extreme horror.”” What a disappointment… :( sorry.
This is not good. Grammar police alert! But the typos are killing me. There were two typos in the first pg. (paragraph, not page!) there was no use of commas, and when there WERE commas, they were in the wrong places. God. This is very bothersome for me. Sorry.
The writing itself is so cringey. I don’t even want to begin to explain. Not worth it. I skimmed through the story in 5 minutes. Was gonna just stop reading, but was hoping maybe the “extreme horror” part would make it worth it. There was none. Sorry.
This story is super short. But let me save you from this excruciatingly painful read:
Stalker is in love with Irina. Stalker is delusional and thinks Irina is his girlfriend and that he is protecting her from psychos and dangers that lurk around the corners, when obviously stalker is the said danger. Stalker breaks into Irina’s house, Irina wakes up and stabs him with a needle, drugging him. Irina lures him to an unknown area. And “tortures” him for answers.
We find out that his last “obsession” was her best friend Victoria, and that he had killed her whenever he found out she was “cheating.” (She was never cheating, they were never together, of course.) Irina is here for revenge, she had planned their entire meeting and all of their encounters, and knew he was following her all along. She stabs him in the kneecap. She waterboards him. That’s pretty much it for the torture in this book.
Stalker gets drugged again. Wakes up to his mother being in the room with him. We find out stalker’s mother knew about his little habit (of stalking and killing), and that his father was like this as well. Stalker’s mother has spent her life covering up for the both of them, Irina makes her confess this, and now they will both pay.
Irina kills the mother with an iron pipe. Irina takes stalker out of the warehouse (or whatever it is, regardless, rookie mistake.) Irina has more planned for him but gets shot by stalkers dad before she can do anything else. (Why would you take him out of the warehouse anyways, idiot.) Stalker’s dad faked his death years before to “protect” the fam, and conveniently shows up when his fucker of a son is finally getting what he deserves.
The end.
There’s nothing extreme about this story, my 10 year old brother could’ve written it. Sorry.
On Her Heels is a fast-paced thriller that dives deep into obsession, delusion, and revenge. Ashton, a forty-year-old man, believes he's just "looking out" for Irina, a twenty-year-old woman he watches constantly. In his mind, they're already together. He follows her, sneaks into her house, and even tells his mom he's found the one. But everything shifts when Irina flips the script. She's been watching him too, and she's not here for love.
The story unravels with sharp twists, dark family secrets, and a rhythm that never lets you breathe. I read it in one sitting. Definitely worth it.
Ashton is obsessed with Irina... so obsessed he's already planned their marriage, took it upon himself to keep her safe and even popped into her apartment to tuck her in.... all before even introducing himself.
This was soo interesting to be able to read from the stalkers point of view. Hearing his inner monologue of his absolute obsession and the way his thoughts worked.
The only reason this one wasn't a 5 star is because I'm so peeved at the ending 😂 EVE WHY??
Absolutely phenomenal! Couldn’t put it down had a twist at the end which completely changed my brain chemistry which we love! Superb book and expertly written!
