Eldorado is an epic tale of one mans thirst for power and drive to win in the business of banking.
There's the loveless marriage in order to form an alliance with a powerful family, dodgy deals with shady characters to further expand his power. Attempting to ruin his sisters acting career when she threatens his control and various other escapades.
Somewhat reminds me of a Paul Erdman novel only with less focus on the financial aspects and more focus on the characters and their machinations.
