Journalist Simon Tomlin meets the Insight Team of the Sunday Times in London to strike a deal to expose the covert activities of political groups. Britain is in the grip of socio-political upheaval and forces on the Right and Left intend to exploit the angry public mood. Simon steps into the fold on his first major job for a national newspaper. The resulting feature in the Sunday Times on 21 April 2002 will change his life forever. The Insight team was eventually disbanded in 2006, exposed as dealing in the "dark arts" and criminality. His exposé will take him into the shadows to walk with murderers, gangsters, drug-dealers, radicals, war criminals, News of the World phone hackers and the 'unknown' Hackgate supergrass.
Simon qualified at the London School of Journalism in August 2001 with Distinction, Honours Diploma in Journalism & Newswriting. Since then he has worked as a freelance investigative journalist for The Sunday Times, The Sun, News of the World, Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, The Sunday Telegraph, Sunday Mercury, Daily Express and the Daily Star and several regional newspapers in the UK. He has also contributed to BBC Radio/Television and was the former editor of internet magazine News Alliance. He is based in London and wrote his first book in 2003.
