The Kali Lockton Trilogy #2

Tell Me I'm Dreaming

Rate this book
Seeing things before they happen has made twenty-four year old Kali Lockton quite the celebrity in the elemental world, only the attention is far from good. In fact, she lives each day with a target over her head. Her only defenses are her visions and Jared Miles, the man who holds her heart and has made it his duty to protect her from his own world.

When both of those things are jeopardized, Kali is forced to retreat from her safety net and put her trust in the dangerously sexy Alexander Payne, someone she’s always viewed as manipulative and self-serving.

Just when Kali believes her life couldn’t unravel further, everything she’s known about herself, including her value to the elemental world, disintegrates with a few shocking revelations. Kali learns she is not only the key to an elemental king’s power, but that she carries the responsibility of the continued existence of worlds she’s learned to fear, people she’s never met, and the ones she loves dearly. But such responsibility never comes without a price.

I would like to thank Lovers of Paranormal (LoP) and J.L. Durfeyfor the opportunity to read and review Tell Me I'm Dreaming.
I would say this is the first book that I have ever read where I have switched alliances with the leading characters. I loved the idea of Kali and Jared but the first part of the book I was really tired of them and the turmoil of their relationship. What the HECK was wrong with Jared. J.L. Durfey kept us just on the edge. I really started to get a little tired of their back and forth and no real action as was alluded to in Dreamernot only the attraction of Kali and Jared but who and what was hunting her and why.
When Kali fled into Alex's arms I was not too happy as I was still rooting for Jared and Kali. Alex was too much of a player and did not like that he wanted Kali but still brought women home right in front of Kali - I get what he was doing but did not like it! I thought that Alex was still a little emotionally stunted throughout the book and still feels that after finishing the book - I felt Jared's pain and turmoil even though I did not know why he kept his distance from Kali but never got anything from Alex through the entire book.
Once Kali finally finds out about her heritage and finds her sister that is when I was completely enraptured with the story. I loved her sister, Kayla, and her new friends - after reading about them and I kind of wished the we had gotten to that part of the book faster (in hindsight).
I loved this book as far as the story and action scenes. I love it when a book throws me for a loop and I usually stick to my original alliances but now I am rooting for Team Alex although still keeping Team Jared an extremely close second, still!
I can't wait for the final book expected in 2014! I will gladly re-read both books prior to the final one's release.
Thank you again for the opportunity to read these books and I highly recommend the books!

I got this book from the author, free of cost, in exchange of an honest review from my side which I'm thrilled to share.

Firstly I would like to thank J.L. Durfey, for giving me this wonderful opportunity of reading and reviewing this fabulous book.

Ah, it was a pleasure reading this sequel! I didn't expect this sequel to excel even more and surpass Dreamer's (book 1) awesomeness. The author really left me speechless with this master piece.

I heart the romance part and really would like to appreciate the way the author presented it to her readers. The story was great in book 1 and it was excellent in book 2 and the same I would say for Kali's character and I'm really happy to witness her development through out this sequel.

The suspense as usual is well kept and it really made me even more anxious than I felt during book 1, if it's at all possible.

The twists and turns were great and the revelations about which the blurb hints is really world shattering not only for Kali but also for the readers as the author bound us with the characters through her remarkable writing skill.

Oh, how can I forget to mention about Alex or rather I should say about his sexiness and hotness, man this character really knocked me off and in front of him Jared really felt as if he is nothing more than a time-waste, well Jared fans don't get pissed!

I really enjoyed the increasing intensity and intimacy between Kali and Alex, well it really is time that the girl should have her interest changed.

The power-packed action really spiced up the story and made it much more interesting and the emotional turmoil that Kali faced is really heart wrenching and it touched my soul as well and made me feel for her.

Having a lot of responsibilities dumped on you is not quite pleasant but when your decisions and actions are powerful enough to effect and change your known world then it becomes totally unbearable but in this sequel Kali's character evolved as a strong, confident and totally dependent female lead which stole the show for me.

All in all a great and must read for ya all and I would definitely love to recommend it to ya all and hope that you'll like and enjoy it as much as I did or maybe more than what I did.

I got this book from the Goodreads group 'Lovers of Paranormal' under the Read 2 Review scheme and would like to thank Carrie or should I say 'Book Fairy' as you all know her, who gave me this opportunity and is one of the beat MODs I've ever known. Carrie, you rock!!!

Oh My God!!! I LLLOOOVVVEEEDDD it Sooooooo much. This book is definitely my favorite in the series. Mostly because Kali is finally giving Alex a chance (YES)!!!! Alex and Kali are perfect for each other. When all the crap was going on with her and Jared I just wished I was her for maybe just one second and tell him off sooooo bad and slap him in the face. I hope she DOESN'T go back to him 'cause if she does I feel like I'll just throw my iPhone into the wall an scream bloody-muder(and I really, REALLY don't feel like going out and having to buy myself a new phone because of my anger problems;)). I thought it was sooo funny during the time Kali lived with Alex and they lived to torture each other(HeHeHe…)!!! And just say'n but I never liked Emery in the beginning so when it turned out she betrayed them I was not surprised at all. Alex is definitely my absolute FAV. He soooo totally fits in the I'm-a-bad-boy-but-I-do-have-a-heart-and-will-take-care-of-you-and-kill/maim-anyone-who-hurt-you-in-the-past thing going on and it is soooooo totally HOT!!!!:P I can't WAIT for the next book to come out because I really, REALLY HATE CLIFFHANGERS!!!! It annoys me soooo much not to know what will happen next and it is killing me slowly inside. J.L Durfey is an absolute genius at writing and creating a world that seems so realistic and you can definitely relate to all the characters. And like I said I can't wait for book 3!!!!!!=) <3

JL Durfey has set her self aside from other authors. In the second book of the Kali Lockton series, you find your self getting lost in a world of paranormal romance. First of all, from the first page to the last page, you will be turning pages to see what is going to happen next. You fall in love with Kali once again as she embarks in a journey to find her true self. You meet new characters that make you laugh so hard. Kali has taken hold of her emotions and now is a very strong character who knows how to fend for herself. The book is filled with twists and turns that will make you sit on the edge of your seat and find yourself reading until it is finished. If you want a good book to read, you found it.

JL Durfey is setting a new standard in the paranormal romance world. I applaud her work of being able to see outside the box and to show imagination and determination in this book. You will not regret picking up this book and reading it.

To get more insight on the characters I recommend reading the first of the series, Dreamer.

WOW! Tell Me I'm Dreaming kept me on the edge of my seat on an emotional roller coaster throughout the entire book! I don't want to give out any spoilers, but I will say prepare yourself for a gut-wrenching plot twist! Once again, Ms. Durfey does a fantastic job bringing these characters to life and keeping the reader engaged. I can't wait for the next installment!

I would like to start off by saying that I was given an ARC copy for free by the Author in return that I give my completely honest, unbiased opinion/review. Also, the first half of my review will be clear of spoilers, and I will give a warning when the spoilers come in!

I really, really enjoyed this book. Whether I liked it more than the first one is unclear, because I feel that they were both awesome, but different, which is important to me. I was drawn to Kali Lockton immediately. I think she is a very tough heroine but at the same time has her insecurities. To me, she represents somebody real, and it is believable. She makes good decisions, bad decisions, and has legitimate feelings. Reading about what she goes through and who she is as a person is as clear as if she was standing right in front of you telling the story. It doesn't feel fake, she is who she is, and self-aware of her pro's and con's. She knows she's not perfect but she doesn't try to be, and she stays true to herself and her morals without coming across as a snobby brat. I would love to be friends with Kali!

This book was a lot more sexualized than the first, but I was okay with that. In fact, I thought it was a nice change of pace because it wasn't raunchy like what you would see in a Adult Romance book, but it wasn't all hand holding and giggles like what you would expect from a Young Adult book. However, it was steamy and easy to visualize without coming across as tacky or forced. You know how in some books, they talk about how easy it is for characters to get aroused - that they seem to be aroused ALL THE TIME .. for some reason this makes me crazy. I didn't feel like TMID was "in your face" with horniness, although it had it's share of scenes based on sex. I might be alone in my feelings with this, but that's just how I am.

Moving on, I felt a wide range of emotions when reading TMID. I'm talking quick-changing emotions, and I think I felt them as deep Kali did. The only thing possible that could make this book more enjoyable is having the perspectives from Jared and Alex, as well, although this is not required to love the book - I think it would be fun to know what was running through their minds at certain times. Just starting out with reading the book I experienced happiness, excitement, comedic relief, frustration, understanding, sadness, pity, hot and bothered, curiosity, confusion, disappointment, impatience, annoyance, thrill, shock and more. Talk about your well rounded book!

I'm very much attracted to the writing style that J.L. Durfey uses. I love how realistic it is, despite the fact that it has paranormal/supernatural qualities. I love that it's believable and filled with little details (without being annoying and losing track of the big picture), so you feel like you are getting the WHOLE story. I also loved the additional characters we got from TMID, it was nice to see new personalities. I also thought there was a very nice twist at the end, and I'm very curious at how the next book will be. I hope there is closure in the end of the series, and that everybody ends up happy!

!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE REST OF MY REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS. PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now read this book!

( I was given an arc copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review through the group making connections)

First of all I would like to thank J.L Durfey for letting me have the opportunity to read her books, I have really loved reading both books and cannot wait for the 3rd book to come out!

As for this book well all I can say to start with is a big old OMG!
I really loved the first book but I have to say that this one most definitely topped that and I enjoyed it SO much more!

In the first book I have to admit that I was all for Kali and Jared as I really loved watching how their relationship grew from friends to much more, but now I have to say move over Jared and HELLO ALEX!
I loved that you got to see a lot more of Kali and Alex's friendship grow and at times there were a few laugh out loud moments when Alex was trying to make Kali jealous which at times backfired and had me crying with laughter!
In this book we get to see Kali discover more about her visions and the reasons of why she gets them, and a few shocking but expected twists thrown in to discover about herself which had me on the edge of my seat while reading it and flipping through the pages as quickly as I could read it.
I don't know what to expect from the final book but I will be waiting anxiously for it to come out to see what happens, especially with the cliff hanger at the end of the book that had me shouting NO at the end!

I would most definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good paranormal romance and I hope that they will enjoy it as much as I did.

Now we are getting somewhere. In book 2, we follow Kali as her visions uncover more secrets from her past. As her relationship with Jared disintegrates (thank goodness), she turns to Alex to protect her.

I enjoyed watching Alex continued tries at wooing Kali but she stood her ground. She was still in love and hoping Jared would come around. Alex tried, and you could tell it was a task for him because I'm sure he was use to getting any woman he wanted. He even tried making her jealous. I like that we got to see some humor from both sides.

After a few troubling visions, Kali uncovers a secret that even though it reveals a lot of answers, it also brings pain. She is forced to travel to the different worlds where she finds some surprising allies.

Upon returning to earth, Kali thinks she will finally get the happiness she has been dreaming of and is slapped with an unsuspecting betrayal (I don't think most will be shocked).

I must say I like ending. Yes you are left with a cliffhanger but still it's what I wanted from the start and I hope it only gets better and stronger. I can't wait to read book 3.

This book was a fabulous adventure into the elemental realms that were created in the book Dreamer. Through the disintegration of Kali and Jared's relationship Kali finds her resolve to become more independent and seeking out more knowledge of where she came from and what needs to happen next in this world she now lives in. She becomes stronger and finds friends in places she never thought possible. There are also several twists and turns along the way in finding herself. I am always a fan of the "dark horse" in a romance and found myself enamored with Alex in this book. His character has always felt like he should be the "untrusted one" and throughout this book we get glimpses into his past and his future through Kali's visions; I came to love his pursuit of Kali and found myself championing their budding romance. Overall, I would have loved to learn more about the realms and what they looked like and I was in a constant state impatience with all the sexual tension, but this book was great and can't wait to see what JL does for the next one, especially with the great cliff hanger!

Tell me I'm Dreaming (The Kaili LocktonTrilogy #2) by J.L. Durfey
Goodreads R2R LoP I was give this book in exchange for my honest review

An amazing love story with a deadly twist...
Something is coming. I can feel it. I just can't see it yet. Famous last words before Kaili's world is turned upside down.
Two sexy men that will fight to protect her both hiding something, but will it be enough keep her safe from king Odraus, the ruler of Sulta who wants her by and means. Before we go any farther a little background on a the sexy men in this story. Let's start with the love of her life Jared, he is from a realm known as Sulta, the sun realm, and there is Alex, he is from Muldre, the moon realm. There is also two other realms one is known as Octus, the water realm and the other is the Caseri the Dark realm. Kaili have seen the creatures that both of these realms produce and the word ugly do not come close.

I'm sorry, please don't hate me but I can't give a review. I just want to say that I really really appreciate every book I read and I admire all the authors and all the books out there because I believe they are God's gift to us readers. And I think the problem here's on me. I really am not a fan of love triangles. I just can't bear the thought of loving someone while harboring other feelings for another person. It's breaking my heart and I know it's clouding my judgment so I think it'll be better if I don't give a review. I'm really sorry, this book's not for me but I really appreciate the opportunity.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review Making Connections.
This is the first book I've read by J.L. Durfey and the storyline had a new twist unlike other books I've read. For some reason I was left feeling like a lot was going on that I didn't understand and it was never explained. Though I received a few answers to some questions even after finishing the book I'm still confused. Through most of the book Kali is pining for Jared and there was little action going on elsewhere in the story. I'm hoping to get some answers in the last book in this trilogy. I did like Alex and I'm hoping the relationship with him develops!
