DEATH FROM ABOVE!

Ash Blake, a student at Ansullivan Dragonar Academy, has the unique ability to ride anyone's dragon. His own dragon, Eco, is even more unusual than he is: for unknown reasons, she was born in the form of a beautiful girl!

Ash hasn't had much time to figure out the mystery of Eco's appearance. Ansullivan is under attack by a kind of dragon no one's ever seen before—one that smells like death and regenerates when injured. As if that's not enough for a young dragon rider to deal with, the student council is recruiting, and a tempestuous member of the royal family is about to pay Ansullivan a fateful visit.

An interesting concept for the story, but I still find the plot a bit slow and shallow, since there's alot more that could be done with it. Then again, it's only volume two of the series! Sometimes the plot gets a bit strange that just makes me think "Um... Ok?". Also, Ash's steed gets on my nerves a little bit and I would've prefered for it to have been born in its true form. BUT, the story is original, it's a quick read, I love the fact that it's in a more fantastical world with dragons and it's overall a fun literary escape (despite the more critical points I've mentioned).

This series is not for children, as it portays women in a more sexual way : abnormally large bosoms, the way they dress is skimpy, they show bare breasts or naked women and there are some sexualized scenes in the book (e.g.: a girl trips and falls on Ash, her bosom in his face).

I recommend to parents to skim the books in this series to see if they're comfortable letting their children or teenagers read them.

The world continues to develop as well as Ash and Eco's relationship. A harem is also starting to form as well as this volume is way more ecchi than the first. I think its getting better and I can't wait till the mystery plot threads are answered.

Volume 2 is more of the same crap. The only good thing I can say for it is that it's quick reading.

Rated "Older Teen" this book has what you practically expect from something put out by Seven Seas Entertainment. So if partial nudity of a variety of ages, accidental groping, undead dragon tentacle bondage, or the thought of a tough as nails warrior princess then you might want to avoid this book.

Okay so the first book was not so great when I read it but it was the first book so I wanted to give it a second chance( and thankfully it and this book were donated to me by a friend so I didn't have to buy them.) With that out of the way I must confess this book does seem to be a bit better then the original as the majority of introductions are out of the way and the characters begin to develop in more ways then just mostly large breasted dragon riders and one guy with Harem Magnet practically tattooed on him(even the dragon he is bound to appears like a younger girl.)

*Cues Power Ranger theme* Why the Power Ranger theme? Because one development in this book is how Ash Blake who is the only person that can ride other dragons gets his Ark to help fight the undead dragon that attacked his home town and abducted his dragon(see girl.) Seeing him suddenly going from overwhelmed student to being able to leap tall buildings in a single bound automatically got me thinking of younger days when Saban took a Sentai show from Japan and made it accessible to American audience. Of course if you are not into action and prefer the blatant sexual over tones of the first volume designed to generate sales for sexually confused teens and adults then worry not for it is still in this book and will probably be a staple of every book here after as well.

My personal favorite part of the book is when after most of the introductions of new members of the student council and Ash is wondering what is taking Eco so long to show up. I have to admit I laughed at the response from Sylvia when Ash noted it sounds like she speaks from personal experience. You might too if you decide to read this book. :)

Dragonar Academy Vol 2 ramps up the story. A lot of developments happen in this volume and we see characters develop and plots begin to take shape. The art continues to be full of fan service and nudity but that goes with the "Older Teen" rating. From a story perspective things get interesting. It picks up right where Vol. 1 left off but this time we get to see some of the magic in action. The first Volume started us off a bit slow but Vol. 2 really starts to bring the concepts of the fantasy setting together. A good read if you can get past all the fan service.
