Michelle loves to travel and try new things, whether it’s a paranormal investigation of an old Vaudeville Theatre or climbing Mayan temples in Belize. She’s addicted to movies and used to drive her mother crazy while quoting random scenes with her brother. She is the very proud mom to the most talented artist. Though it has yet to happen, her dream is to be a zombie in a horror movie. (She came close as a refugee extra on SyFy’s Z Nation, Fall 2016!) She is involved with various film and historical documentary projects with her filmmaker husband.
Bit by the Bug tried to both funny and smutty and sort of failed at both. I think the book should have gone in one direction or another because it seems to me that the author could pull either. There were some really funny parts (specially the beginning with the hero's crazy parents) and some hot parts, but neither involved the hero. And probably that was the big mistake here, that the essence of the story wasn't about the hero at all so how could this be a romance?
Vincent is supposed to be a guy distracted with his work and he's clueless for most of the book. Worst, the heroine has ZERO interest in what he does. I don't mean to say that to love a man you must love what he does, but when a man is THAT interested in his work, I would expect any woman interested in him to at least ask why he likes it so much.
One of my pet peeves in romance is when a character talks and talks about how something is important to her - to the point where this is the reason she doesn't have any relationships - but this obstacle falls easily by the wayside in the end. If something is so important for a character, I want her to figure out how to keep both things in her life or at least mourn the loss, not decide is not that important to her anymore.
I'm not interested enough in the sisters to continue reading the series.
Another good book for Pillow. As a fan of her Dragon Lords and Lords of the Var Series, I think this series is going to be great.
Kat Matthews is on vacation with her mother. She has a meeting with an elder couple who has hired her to "date" her son in exchange for her big dream as a photographer. Their son is a "bug" scientist and never gets out in the real world.
There is a twist to the contract though-Kat has to get Dr. Vincent Richmond to ask her out, she cannot. Kat eventually takes a job with him and tensions are high. She fantisizes about him all the time as well as he. But both do they know that they are each equally attracted to one another and they think the other dislikes them.
How is she going to get him to ask her? She consoles with her sisters and family. Is there anything that comes between them? Does she leave her job? What about her sisters, does one of them become attracted to him? Do Kat and doc fall in love?
You have to read the novel to get the answers you need. There are some really hot scenes in this book that will leave you wanting more.
I was expecting a lot from this because of the blurb and the cute cover, and unfortunately I was disappointed. There were funny and cute parts. The plot was actually good. So why was I disappointed?
I was looking for more interaction between Kat and Vincent. Of course this is an adult novel but it doesn't mean that most scenes between the two should be sex. I wish there was more talk than action. It's sad that I enjoyed Kat's scenes with her sisters than with Vincent.
I don't know what's with me but I was irritated with Kat. She was whiny about her life and she seem poor but it's not like she's doing anything about it. I know she's a photographer and thrives in art but it seems like her whole life in this novel revolved around Project Vincent. I can't also see the effort to attract him as part of the job Vincent's parents gave her. It felt rushed how she suddenly lusted him. One moment she hated the job and then next she kissed him which started their relationship. I know she tried to attract him by wearing attractive clothes as mentioned but it still felt off. Maybe it lacked emphasize.
I also had a problem with Vincent's character but not because I didn't like him. He was okay, he was adorable actually but the way he was introduced at the first part, pre-relationship part seems wrong compared on how he was after. Of course he was a workaholic and I get how he doesn't have time to go on dates but it was like he was an ignorant about a lot of things that's going on. He was supposed to be a workaholic hot guy but it's like pre-relationship Vincent and on-relationship Vincent were two different persons.
Maybe it was just how it was written, the way the characters were presented to the readers but there's a potential in this plot that I really wished was brought out to light.
