Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both, along with a whole load of other things, could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever.

Later, she headed south, picked up the perfect husband along the way, and together they volunteered to work in Africa. There they discovered a love of exotic places and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward they spent a number of years travelling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever necessary.) Eventually they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain and the small almond farm they now call home.

Nina spends her days reading, writing and riding her mare, Gencianna, under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.

Nina's writing mixes romance with elements of the paranormal and science fiction

★★★★! Losing Control (Stand-alone). A quick, feel-good and very sexy friends-to-lovers story!

“That’s it? You want sex?” He gave her a slow, lazy smile. “And you didn’t think to come to me?”

Losing Control is the story of two best friends/boss-employee, Jake Knight, the CEO of Knight Securities and Kimberly Rawlings, Kim a Security expert and aspiring gun-slinging Bodyguard.

Four years after the break-up of a loveless and abusive marriage Kim had finally come into her own and she is ready to take on a lover. Jake who has had a secret crush on her for all these years volunteers. But Kim is not easily convinced. Losing Control is very much the journey of just that; Letting go of one’s past and giving up control of the present. It follows Jake in his relentless pursuit and very sexy seduction of Kim, with her fighting him every step of the way.

 photo CroftLosingControlHerobySueBee_zps8178da84.jpg

Five words to describe Jake Knight: Charming, noble, patient, determined and loyal.

“I like carrying you. It gives me the illusion that you’ll let me take care of you.”

 photo CroftLosingControlHeroinebySueBee_zps5c7efdae.jpg

Kimberly Rawlings, Kim kept the story going by being mostly wishy-washy, naïve and stubborn. She has some redeeming qualities that will unfold with her painful past. Bottom line: she is who Jake wanted.

“So you’re saying if I have enough sex, then I’ll get to the point where I’ll never want to see another penis again?”
“In principle.”

Story moved along at a pleasant pace and as for ending… Scorching sex scenes! A captivating hero! Overall a quick, feel-good read!

“Christ, she was the most difficult woman he had ever tried to seduce. And the only one who really mattered.”

5 JUST BECAUSE I LOVED IT STARS.

"He was six foot three inches of lean, mean, drool-worthy man."

description

There are times when I just know I'm in need for a book from the Brazen collection. A quick, easy, predictable reading escape that will fill my time with romance and love. 'Losing control' encompassed all of that and I enjoyed every page, here are my thoughts ...

What's it all about?
Jake knight is a millionaire ex army official who has the whole world at his feet, you would think he has everything he could need or want in life? wrong, this man has been in love with his best friend from the moment he met her and this sassy lady has always been just out of reach. As time has gone by Jake has done all he can to protect and be the 'friend' that Kim needs but Jake knows that this status needs to change. Kim has learned the hard way that no man should have control over her life, starting with the lesson of an abusive failed marriage and a family life that left her scarred. Kim knows that her friendship with Jake is the most previous thing in her life right now but what happens when an attraction to her friend means letting go of all her past hurts and control. Jake and Kim must come to a realisation that they are meant to be more but will their love stand up when insecurities and fear stand in the way? Jump aboard this Brazen treat as the author Nina Croft takes the reader on a British inspired tale of friends to lovers ...

"I can pretty much guarantee that by the end of the evening you'll decide that sex with me is more than worth the risk."

What did I love?
The character's were engaging and delightfully entertaining. The hero of this story combines the adorable blend of love-stuck and alpha; he knows what he wants and will use any kinky tool to get it. Our heroine is damaged goods but I found myself empathising rather than irritated by her insecurities. Both these loved up characters will have you animated right up to the end of the story as they attempt to negotiate their flawless ending. Nothing gets the pages turning quicker in a book for me than a friends to lovers saga, this author has merged all the best bits of that trope to put together a well written, tender but saucy short novel. It most certainly rounded up as a prize winner for me in the Brazen series and I will gladly pick up future books from this author.

description

Final thoughts ...
If you have not read any books in the Brazen range and you like your romance easy and sexy then go check them out. 'Losing Control' had the best mix of heartfelt and flirtatious. It requires nothing more from its readers other than the ability to appreciate a quick, sensual romp full of love and inviting characters. Don't be expecting something new with this story it's delight is mainly from its predictability and indulgence factor. Don't take my word for it readers if all the above sounds appealing go grab it ... Enjoy, kisses.

"…sometimes, you need to close your eyes and jump and trust that someone will catch you."

Jake took Kim in under his protective wing years ago, during the lowest time in her life, when she was a young naïve girl who thought the man she married loved her. She was wrong, her ex-husband liked to show her love for him with his fists. Now Kim is nothing like that girl, transforming into one hell of an agent in Jake's Security firm. Kim wants more, she wants the chance to take on more dangerous jobs, still feeling like she has to prove to her strength to herself, but Jake isn’t so convinced, but not for the reason she is thinking. How could he let the woman he loves jump into harm’s way, now if his woman would just open her eyes
"Somehow , he had to make her realize that she loved him and that loving him was safe. That he wouldn’t hurt her. But first, he had to make her see him as a man. Because she seemed to have blanked that piece of information from her mind, he was her friend."

Jake is trying to work all angles he can and when his friends with benefit plan back fires, he has to come up with one that would sate her desires as well as her career goals. Jake knows she is worth the wait, totally clueless to the power she has over him, he may seem like he is in control, when in reality Kim owns him, mind, body and soul
"I recon I’ve given you four years, I can give you a little longer. But don’t make me wait too long, Kimberly, or I will come looking for you. Will this change things between us? Oh, yes. Will you still be my friend? I ‘ll always be your friend, but we can be so much more."

Losing Control, is a HOT read that took friends to lovers to a different level, I liked the action piece to it, the possessive fights they would have, the awkward moments and most especially the parts they turn control over to each other. Can’t wait for the next book in the series, sweaty built bodyguards… Yes, Please ;)

Kim’s past is filled with fear and hurt from being in an abusive marriage. And when she finally got the courage to left, she found herself broken, scared and with her trust damaged.
Now, a few years later she is working at a security company and she’s stronger than ever, but however, the past is not that easy to forget.

description

Jake, the owner of the company, is the man who helped Kim became a stronger person, he is is best-friend and also her boss.
He wants her for 4 years, but never acted on it because he knew she wasn’t ready. But now Kim wants something. She doesn’t trust enough to be in a relationship, but she wants something physical with no strings attached, so she starts looking.
But Jake isn’t willing to let her have that… especially if the other part in the equation isn’t him.

Rating: 3,5 Stars.
Storyline: Romantic and enjoyable, but a little too fast for my taste. I liked the fact that they were best friends before, so it wasn’t some kind of “insta-love”, they already knew each other pretty well.
Writing Style: Third person, dual POV. It’s pretty well written and the reading flows easily. A sweet and fast reading for when you’re in need of a light book.
Character Development: Jake was good and a nice alpha-male, although sometimes we would want things changing too fast. Kim, was nice but so, so, so annoying. I get it, she had a troubled past and fears aren’t that easy to let go of, so I understood where her actions came from, but still, enough is enough.
Steam: Hot.

That moment when you finish a book you actually enjoyed... After having dnf'ed 2 back to back and not finding anything that looks good!

Jake Knight, aka my new book boyfriend, is one hot, bossy man in charge! I swear, he could tie me up to a four post bed anytime! ;) He fell in love with his best friend, proceeded to warn off every man in his employ to stay away from her, and bides his time til he knew she was ready for him. He wooed her like a man should woo!

He made a leisurely perusal of her face. “Am I what?” The words were softly spoken, but Kim’s spine stiffened. There was a threat there somewhere, and she’d never been good at backing down. She licked her lips slowly and then said quite precisely, “Are you well-endowed, Jake?” Her question was worth the look of surprise that flickered across his face. But then the surprise was gone and a very unexpected satisfied smile settled in its place. He took her hand. For a moment, he stroked her fingers gently, and when she didn’t pull away, he moved it toward him and held her palm flat against his groin. Kim gasped. “What do you think?” he asked.

I think I need a freaking cold shower!

Not to mention, his 'equipment'...

He flicked it open and then lowered the zipper. His cock sprang free, and he wrapped his fist around it. She couldn't drag her gaze away. He was huge, hopefully fully aroused because if he got any bigger he wouldn't fit. No way. "Bloody hell, Jake. It's a monster."

Holy hell! Ladies, I'm in love with yet another fictional character! Jake is awesome! Here's a few gifs that reminded me of their Scotland weekend getaway... ;)

Kim is a woman who has dealt with some harsh times in her young 24 years. Her mother died when she was ten, she had a strained relationship with her father, and to top it all off, she marries a jackass to beat all jackasses. He physically abuses her and demeans her to the point she starts to believe him. But she gets away and vows never to be any mans doormat again. Working for her bff Jake's security firm aids in her endeavors. The only problem with her... she's completely blind to his feelings, unlike everyone else who works there. This makes for some pretty humorous moments!

“Jake will be here in a minute,” Dave said. “So?” Dave shook his head in exasperation. “Seems as apparently it’s out in the open now, I may as well tell you, along with warning the lot of us off touching you, Jake’s made it perfectly clear that if you come on these nights out, we’re expected to see that you don’t get into any trouble.” “Trouble?” she queried, a frown forming between her eyes. “What sort of trouble?” Dave nodded in the direction of the dark-haired man at the bar. “That sort of trouble.” “I don’t believe this. Who does Jake think he is? My father?” “I doubt that’s quite the role he has in mind,” Dave said wryly. “But you’d better talk to him about that.”

I really enjoyed this story. I am always a sucker for the friends to lovers and here we not only have that, hot sex, but a hero who isn't afraid to admit he wants a wife and kids and the "happily ever after", we also have a heroine who is scared to death of backtracking and becoming a doormat again, but she doesn't run from Jake. Not really anyway. ;) The supporting cast was pretty funny and added great comic relief. This was a book that came to me at the perfect time. I feared I was coming into a bad funk, after having to dnf 2 books (which is a rare thing for me) and not really finding anything that called to me. This is my first from Ms. Croft, and it will not be my last! Her writing was great, the cast was hilarious and the story flowed and I didn't want to put it down! Yay me! :)

This book kept me grinning throughout the whole book :)

A bit different to the norm as it is the guy in love with the girl and the girl being completely clueless! Don't get me wrong, Jake was no pushover

Are you turning into some sort of caveman?

I do normally get annoyed with this type of heroine taking her time to get her head sorted but the sexy time and playful relationship they have more than made up for it.

That's it? You want sex?...And you didn't think to come to me?

One negative...I felt like I was missing a part of their story when the story starts off with them already being friends.

A quick feel good predictable smut book.

I am actually a fan of Nina Croft especially Handle with Care. But her other books, its a miss for me. Losing Control is another miss for me. What really does not work is the heroine character, Kim. She is so immature and somehow contradict with her job. She seems very smart woman but when it comes to her social life, she becomes the dumbest person alive.

I also do not know why Jack is obsessing making Kim his wife. We do not have this insight from jack. So their love story becomes very confusing. Its more like insta love and insta lust. Too many sex scenes, unnecessary drama etc. And all of this has nothing to do with the development of the story nor the character development.

Overall I do not like this book.

4.5 - It's set In the UK Stars...

I think this is the first Brazen book I have read that is set in the UK, so extra love just for that.

Jake and Kim were both likeable, the sex was hot and plentiful and the storyline had a few twists and turns.

Whats not too like!

I wanted to love this book. I really, really did. Nina Croft’s Blood Hunter series (Break Out and Deadly Pursuit) is awesome science fiction romance. I mean totally awesome, she made vampires and werewolves in space completely work.

But Losing Control is a contemporary, and it didn’t just make my willing suspension of disbelief meter go flying out the window, it’s making me put ranty pants on for this review.

Because the story is about a woman who was nearly suicidal while married to an abusive, control freak man and who has spent the last four years pulling herself together. It is, and it should be, a long and scary journey.

Kim works for a security company because she needed to feel more secure about her own damn self. She’s taken all the self-defense courses, she wants to be an agent. She needed to grab control of her own life.

Four years after the end of her marriage, she’s finally starting to feel like sex might be worth trying again. But none of the guys she works with are interested in her. And her husband was only interested in belittling her and hurting her. She’s starting the think that she’s the problem.

No, the problem is that her best friend, her boss Jake, has told all the guys at the job that she’s off limits. He’s saving her for himself. And since he owns the company, and they all like their paychecks, the guys all paid attention to what the boss said.

Kim has no clue. Of course, she had no clue that her ex was gay, either. At least she had the excuse of being 18 for that. But still. Oh, did I mention that her apartment is subsidized by her job? Meaning her protective boss? The one who won’t let her out into the field as an agent because he can’t stand the thought of her being in danger, not that she isn’t qualified.

Kim’s spent the last four years putting herself in charge of her life, getting new friends, taking new risks. But Jake has been making sure she’s safe, checking up on her friends, not necessarily trusting all of her decisions.

Then when she decides that she’s finally interested in getting intimate with someone, he drops the bombshell that he’s been waiting for her all along, and there’s no way he’ll let anyone else into her life. Yes, he makes it sound more romantic than that, but he does control her life.

He’s been her best friend for four years, he’s her boss and his company subsidizes her rent. The first half of the book, was a lot of him ignoring or riding roughshod over all of her attempts to set any ground rules for their new relationship. He always knew better than any objections she might have.

Kim had a LOT of damage that prevented her from having a healthy relationship with someone. She did need to get over it. Her mother died when she was young, her father was cold and distant. She married an abuser because she was easy prey for someone who pretended to love her. (I didn’t hear any mention of therapy, and did she ever need it!)

None of that gets cured by a quick f*ck, no matter how long the guy has loved her, particularly when there’s no protection involved. And yes, that comes back to haunt in the too easy happy ever after.

The fact that she continued to let him walk all over her boundaries made me decide that she still had way too many doormat tendencies left in her.

And after all the come-here/go-away games the two of them play, we get a very fast, tie-up the loose ends happy ending where Kim decides that because Jake lets her tie him up in bed that he isn’t as big a control freak as she thought so marrying him will be okay after all.

Besides she goes to punch her ex’s lights out and she has a lovely reconciliation with her daddy who says that he loves her and no, her mommy didn’t kill herself so everything is sunshine and lollipops. And she’s pregnant.

Verdict: There are people who are going to love this book. I’m just not one of them. My rant-o-meter wouldn't come down after the first 150 pages where Jake repeatedly blows past Kim’s boundaries and ignores everything she says. He is controlling her, and he has been controlling her. That he’s been nice about it doesn’t matter.

For this story to have had a chance at working, Kim needed to be truly on her own and discover if she could make it without training wheels. She should have been wondering how much of her recovery was really her own doing. Or at least she would have if she had been as kick-ass as the book’s description made her out to be.

Instead she turned out to be a damsel in distress wearing a heroine’s costume, waiting for her Prince to sweep her off her feet and get her knocked up.

I give Losing Control by Nina Croft 1 disappointed star.

Aslında puanım üç buçuk. Başı çok güzeldi. Yani ilk %25'i.

Severek okudum.

Kim Rawlings was in an abusive marriage 4 years ago and, on escaping, went to work with Jake at his security company. She is a kickass, no nonsense chic, who hasn't been interested in the opposite sex...until she starts getting the itch.

Jake Knight is ex-military, and now owns a security company, purchased to keep himself busy, when not absorbed in his property empire. He is tall, lean, dark & dreamy, and is happy to call Kim his best friend...although he would want to call her more, having fallen for her the day they met.

This is a sweet and steamy friends to lovers story, where I found myself easily connected to the characters. I liked Kim's feisty attitude very much, and enjoyed her humorous attempt to keep Jake at arms length. And Jake, well I just found his over possessiveness adorable.

Set in London, this is the first book I have read by Nina Croft, but it won't be my last.

I'm not even sure why I picked it up. I mean come on title says itself that it's babysitting a billionaire. But no matter how much I hate that kind of trope I end up reading it. Hello fifty shades of Gray.

I enjoy parts of them but on a broader scale I do hate them. Why do I read them? I think it's some sickness I have. Need to get myself checked for sanity.

I guess I'm one of those who crave for shitty boyfriends in imagination but hate them in reality. Well Jack isn't exactly that, he is caring and loving while Kim on the other hand is dull and boring and also immature.

I swear everytime I say to myself, do not, I repeat, do not touch another book of the kind and yet I do.

I'm not going to touch another one, promise.

Who am I kidding? On to next 1 star read.

4 SEXY JAKE Stars

"Hot in.....
So hot in herre.....
So hot in.....
I need you to get up up on the dance floor
Give that man what he askin for
Cuz I feel like bustin loose and I feel like touchin you
And cant nobody stop the juice so baby tell me whats the use

(I said)
Its gettin hot in here (so hot)
So take off all your clothes

I am gettin so hot, I wanna take my clothes off..."
lyrics by Nelly

Seriously! Nina Croft made me want to combust every time Jake let out his sexy side. HOT DAMN! The lyrics by Nelly: Its gettin hot in here (so hot)...So take off all your clothes, played in my mind a lot in the steamy scenes or heck, even when he just kissed her. And no place was safe when Jake let out his sexy bossy controlling self: the desk, the library, the wall, the bathtub, the bed....I'm sure I forgot at least one other place. I was sitting at a 3.50 but after all of Jake's steamy scenes and feeling like combusting, I had to bump it up to a 4 just for that.

Kim married really young and ended up in a terrible marriage. Not only did Michael beat her emotionally down, but it appears physically too. She eventually gets out from under him and moves on with her life. During her marriage, she befriends her best friend and boss, Jake. Jake is there for her in all things. It's now four years later and all she wants to do is move up in grade at her job so she can take on more dangerous jobs and carry a gun. If only Jake will allow her to do so.

Jake has been around Kim since her terrible marriage to the A-Hole. He built up a friendship with her and eventually helped her move to a new place and gave her a job at his security firm. And by the way, he's secretly in love with her. Well, secretly being the operative word as it would seem everyone in the firm knows about it but Kim. She has on some rose colored glasses. He doesn't want her to upgrade in her position at the firm. He wants to protect her and keep her safe at all costs. He decides that 4 years is long enough to wait and he needs to put his plans to win her over to the love side in action ASAP. She unknowingly helps put his plans in to action.

They step it up a notch in their friendship and she's afraid to lose all control, as only Jake can make her feel that way. She has this need to show everyone she can take care of herself. In reality she is just afraid to let someone in to care for her, love her and share the control together. Jake needs to step correctly on this path he has chosen to win her over...too much can push her over the edge and it may not go in the right direction if he's not careful. They also need to watch out for Crazy Nadia.

What I liked:
1. Jake was a bit alpha/bossy but not over board about it. Yes he can be demanding and want things his way.
2. Jess and Dani, Jake and Kim's friends.
3. The Firms employees. Their knowing looks, grins and comments made me laugh.
4. The sweet side of Jake.
5. The ending was PERFECT.
6. Any scene that involved Jake: kissing, being sexy, or steamy
7. The friendship build up between Jake and Kim before it turned to a romantic relationship.
8. Kim's visit to her father.
9. The the little twist with Jake. It shouldn't have been a surprise to me. I felt like: DUH! When I read it. lol.

What bothered me about this story
I'm putting this list under spoilers as not to ruin anything unless the reader wants it that way.

Content: drinking, sexual situations and a little bit of language.

Be on the look out for book 2: Out of Control, due out later this year.
Also for book 3: Taking Control, due out early next year.

Kim hasn't always been a tough girl. She came out of a bad marriage, met Jake and he's helped her become the person she is today. It took 4 years but she's started coming into herself with the help of her best friend, Jake. When Kim finally begins to think of having relationships to scratch her itch, Jake realizes it's time to step in. He has realized that he's loved her since the beginning and is willing to risk it all for a hea with her. Jake is an alpha but at the same time he's not an a manho or jerk. He owns a security firm, and has made it clear to anyone he hires that Kim is off limits.

At first she tries to start a relationship with another man who also works at the company that H runs. H sees them practicing grappling and interrupts and shows the potential om some moves...H has knocked the om down twice before om says he's "got it." h totally does not know that H has wanted her all this time.
What was that about?” she said.
“You don’t know?”
She scowled. “Would I be asking if I did?”
He ran a hand through his short hair and grinned. “You know, I almost feel sorry for the guy.” Then he rubbed his chest where Jake had kicked him. “Almost, but not quite.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Kim asked. She was seriously pissed off—things had been going well with Steve until Jake showed his face. At first, she couldn’t believe how pleased she’d been to see him, but then he had to go and act like an asshole and ruin things. Now Steve wouldn’t come anywhere near her. Like the rest of the guys in the company.
“You’d better ask the boss,” Steve replied.
“I have every intention of asking the boss, but right now I’m asking you. Come on, Steve.”
“Let’s just say, I don’t think the boss likes you getting too familiar with us—it’s sort of part of the job description.”
“But why?”
“That’s something else you’ll have to ask him. I didn’t take it seriously, but the guys warned me to keep my hands off. Dave reckons the boss fingerprints you at the end of each day.”
H is telling h that he likes her belly piercing:
“You like it? I thought you’d hate it. I was going to get a tattoo as well, but I ran out of time.”
“Forget it.” He grinned. “Unless it’s stamped across your a32 and says, ‘property of Jake Knight.’”ts. Jake is a very likable H and possessive H with being an azzhat.

I LOVE LOVE Jake. No matter what happens, he doesn't give up on Kim.

I began this book once, then found myself in a reading slump and put it aside. Coming back to it later, I find my lack of interest isn't completely slump related.

The characters in this story are flimsy, but unfortunately there's no other strong plot or chemistry to shore them up. Kim is naive, and doesn't have any personal growth without some one else is explaining things to her. Jake is also paper thin, with no real explanation of his interest or devotion. All of this could have been forgiven if their courtship or sex scenes were extraordinary, but their relationship developed along predictable lines.

Kim'in, "ben başımın çaresine bakarım" hallerinden baygınlık geçirecektim az daha. (=

Not sure if it was my reading slump but I found it to be okay overall. It was a quick and steamy read. I enjoyed the steamy scenes but the story was lacking. It was missing that oomph. The story wasn't believable and I wasn't a fan of the heroine. For someone who works in security and supposedly can read people, she couldn't tell when someone likes her???

Look I am all for that controling guy fantasy on books and Jake was truly checking all my boxes, but the fact that he face her an ultimatum like that in the end for the DUMBEST reasons, since you know, she wanted to try a relationship without power inballance (ooooh, so awful) witch is PRETTY STANDART on my opinion

SHE WANTED TO BE WITH HIM

and then, in the end she was like ... Yeah Jake was right I was wrong... NO BABY GIRL, even If there had passed TEN YEARS you didn't deal with your trauma until now, you were being PRETTY FUCKING REASONABLE

and with that all deciving and cunning manners he had around the book, stopped being even fantasy-charming and became manipulative as hell my suspension of disbelive went out of the windows, I am so mad right know

He was really childsh the serie be called babysiting the billionaire is on POINT

And the worst is: If he Just TALKED to her instead of snapping at her, even saying the same words, he would have been a really great Guy

But, yeah he did say at the begining he wasnt a nice Guy

I AM STILL MAD THO

I discovered this little romantic gem through the Chapters interactive app! I was only playing that app to get diamonds for another game I play. Anyway, I just opened up the first story Ii saw, which happened to be their interactive story "Under Cover" based on this book. I really wasn't paying much attention in the beginning, I just wanted my gems. But their version hooked me, even with the annoying interactive bits. I paid real money just to get more of the story. It only told half the story! I had to know how the rest played out, so I bought the book.
You know a book has got to be a four star book if the interactive app interpretation gets you to buy it. Nina Croft did not disappoint. The characters were believable and engaging, and story was hot and sweet. It's up there with Penny Reid's Elements of Chemistry for me.

The last time I've read a good "best friends-to-lovers" story, I can't even remember, but this one is definitely one of my favorites. It's quick, sexy and highly entertaining, I couldn't even put it down.

Jake Knight is an ex-military, now a millionaire with a security firm. He's handsome, sexy and a total bachelor, with the usual arm candy clinging on to him most of the time. As much as he sounds like a player, he's got his eyes set on just one girl for four years already, his best friend, Kim Rawlings...

Now Kim is a fragile heart, or used to be, after having escaped an abusive marriage four years ago. Now she's all reformed, armed with her fighting skills, however, there's just one thing missing in her life, and suddenly, she's itching for it with a hot guy... and of course, Jake's not an option.
“That’s it? You want sex?” He gave her a slow, lazy smile. “And you didn’t think to come to me?”
Their attraction towards each other is definitely undeniable, despite Kim being stubborn and denying her attraction towards Jake. Up until she finally realizes that it's Jake she wants.
“So you’re saying if I have enough sex, then I’ll get to the point where I’ll never want to see another penis again?”

“In principle.”
Kim was the character who brought the fun in this book, she was just extremely naive and absolutely clueless about everything which was insanely cute, however, she's still as stubborn as a mule with a thick skull. Meanwhile, Jake equaled her stubborness and naivety with his sexiness and overprotective personality, it was just an absolutely perfect pairing.

The sexual tension between them was over the top, as Jake takes Kim into a world of debauchery, just the two of them on an island in a weekend. Now, who wouldn't want that?

Overall, the story might have been fast paced and pretty much predictable, but it was still captivaating and a real feel good story for those who need a sexy quick fix.

2.5 stars.

It was a sweet little, feel-good ending.

Unfortunately, for the majority of the book I felt dubious and ambivalent because of Kim's actions in the relationship, it sometimes crossed the line for me with how Jake made his advances and she seemed uninterested. If Kim was written a bit more enthusiastic towards him it would have solved it, but I had to feel morally dubious if I can like it or not.

Also, the way Jake treated the relationship and thought about it were things I can't and won't promote. Like it's a challenge or a game, that he had to strategize how to make her understand she is in love with him and can't live without him. His unwillingness to let her go or think in a different perspective, try to have an honest conversation with her about where they're coming from.
She wasn't an easy person, but that doesn't mean the measures he took and the advances he tried, in the trial and error method, were okay, because they weren't.

This moral dilemma made me bored sometimes from the intimacy sections of the relationship because I didn't believe them. How can true intimacy can be conjured if consent, openness to eachother and understanding weren't established, and even were unestablished in this book?

All and all, it was nice finish. And if you can shut of your brain and not absorb the damaging behaviours portrayed in this book, then I will recommend you this book.
If not, there are other books on the shelf, you don't have to pick this one.

4 Stars!

I normally read weak heroine with strong hero but in this book both characters has a strong personalities. Kim is not your typical heroine and Jake.. oh my.. He's been in love with Kim for years.. he's quite alpha possessive, protective and tends to get jealous. I find it very cute that he warned everyone that Kim is off limits... (it was sort of part of the job description) LOL!

There were a lot of sexual tensions and funny moment here that would keep you from putting this down.

Overall, I liked this book very much! It's fast paced, funny and very engaging to read!

I'm hoping Danielle will get her own story! <3
