Her job is to stay hidden.
Too bad he can’t take his eyes off her.

Soldier-for-hire Ethan Hayes is the youngest member of an elite mercenary team. While he may be affectionately nicknamed the rookie, the skills Ethan honed as a Marine make him seriously dangerous. Juliet Mason stands out as the master thief in a covert group of assassins and spies. Her latest mission is personal—and it’s gone horribly wrong. So far this one was my favorite. I loved Ethan and Juliet. I loved them together. Loved their back stories. Most of all I really enjoyed the plot. I am really worried about Noelle and Jim's book. With the fact that D and Noelle were having sex, and how bad Jim and Noelle's past is I just don't see how their relationship can be. I guess I will find out soon!

RATING: 3.5 “I’m your person” Hearts!! :)

Midnight Pursuits takes a break from Ms. Kennedy’s usual suspense mayhem – no drug lords, no murdering pimps, and no dangerous casino owners – instead giving us a more familiar setting of political corruption and assassinations. The Killer Instincts series is one that’s thankfully low on convoluted drama and high on relentless action, nail-biting suspense, and scorching sexual tension, two more members of Noelle and Jim’s mercenary teams joining forces in another thrilling mission and sizzlingly sexy romance.

“Out of curiosity, what do you do on the second date?”
The grin he shot her melted her insides. “I subscribe to baseball rules, of course. First, second, third, and then I screw your brains out.”

Juliet and Ethan’s romance is one that starts deliciously tense, a combination of not just older woman-younger man, but also opponents of sorts as Juliet’s consistent age slanders towards Ethan in the previous book caused a rift between the two, bringing their brewing attraction to an abrupt halt. As the two of them are reunited in this, we’re privy to not only a reviving fiery passion between both, but also a steadily flourishing relationship built on respect for one another and more than a few light-hearted, banter-filled moments.

"I mean it, sweetheart. You're not walking away from me. Not until we finish what we've started. And even then, I still won't let you go."
"How very caveman of you."
"Don't care. You're not going anywhere, Jules."

The only drawback to this otherwise easy and light read is with Juliet, though one badass Chameleon, her emotions at times are discernibly unbelievable, making it difficult for emotional investment on our parts and her spending majority of the book refusing to acknowledge that her relationship with Ethan has taken a more serious turn grates on our nerves. Fortunately though, when it comes time to portray her feelings, she does so touchingly, leaving a contented smile on our faces as we finally get plausible emotion from her and a very sweet happily ever after.

Dumbfounded, Ethan stared at the bag before meeting her dark eyes. “You broke into a bakery to steal cookies for me?”
“Don’t you dare read anything into it,” she grumbled, as if sensing his thoughts. “They’re just cookies, for fuck’s sake. Doesn’t mean a thing.”

We’re also reacquainted with secondary characters Noelle, Jim and D and their captivating side stories, leaving us waiting with bated breath for their stories. Overall, Midnight Pursuits is mediocre compared to its companions, yet nonetheless another fun addition to this series.

Midnight Pursuits is the fourth installment in Elle Kennedy adult romantic suspense series titled Killer Instincts. Ms. Kennedy excels in writing strong and complex characters in action/suspense-filled plots and I just love it! In Midnight Pursuits, the characters aren't quite as complicated as I've read in past installments but they were still very entertaining (and sexy) to read. One thing I love about Ms. Kennedy's writing is the focus on kick@ss heroines. There are no knights in shining armor in this series...these women can take care of themselves! Midnight Pursuits offers more action than I remember reading in the past and the ending? It was enough to turn my stomach in knots but it lead to one of the cutest, sweetest moments I've read in this series to date . The secondary character romance in this book features ongoing characters: Noelle and Jim who both have leadership roles in this series which created interesting interactions. There was a lot going on but I found it easy and fun to keep track of. Check it out!

My favorite quote:
“I’m your person. I’m your no matter what. And you’re mine.”

Ethan Hayes is the young rookie on Jim's team of operatives but he definitely holds his own in the book. Ethan goes to Belarus to rescue Juliet Mason, one of Noelle's assassin, after she was shot. Juliet went after a terrorist who killed her brother and in the process uncovered a coup against the Belarus minister of defense.

There was a lot of action in this story but I found myself wondering about D, Noelle and Jim more than Ethan and Juliet. Still, it was nice to avoid sex traffickers but playful and consensual sex between the protagonists.

Juliet and Ethan are the least damaged couple we have read this far. It made this story less emotional and focused more on the terrorist plot. There was great teammate work and a good foundation leading into Jim and Noelle's showdown.

I love this one, and Juliet and the Rookie have just become my favorite couple. Their chemistry scorched the pages and their constant bickering was laugh out loud funny. The OP begins with Juliet and her quest for revenge, which turns into a protection detail followed by a rescue, but it was the relationships that made this book for me. Juliet and her brother, D and Noelle, Noelle and Jim ( thank god their book is next), Sully and Liam and their protectiveness of Ethan, and just the whole team and their loyalty to each other. And whether or not Noelle and Jim realize it their teams of assassins and mercenaries no longer seem like separate entities. Things can only get more interesting from here. 5 stars

As you’ve probably realized by now I’ve been enjoying the Killer Instincts series by Elle Kennedy. We get Ethan and Juliet’s romance in Midnight Pursuits.

Ethan is the “rookie” of the team, the youngest at only twenty-five, and the picture of a gentleman. While staying at Isabel and Trevor’s house in Vermont, as they’re off on their honeymoon, he gets a call meant for Isabel from Juliet and she’s in trouble. Juliet is almost incoherent and injured so Ethan drops everything and flies out to her aid.

When Isabel gets a call from a hospital in Minsk that her brother, Henry is in critical condition, she hops immediately on a plane. Henry is her only family, and she’d do anything for him. When she finds out his fiancée was murdered in a professional way, Juliet takes it upon herself to track down the killer and exact vengeance.

To be honest I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy Ethan and Juliet’s romance as much as the others. They were snipping and snapping at each other in the last book, Midnight Games, so there was palpable tension between them, but Juliet seemed so bristly and aggressive; I didn’t know if Ethan would be a strong enough personality for her. No worries, Elle Kennedy showed another side to sweet, gentlemanly, Ethan, one that matched up to Juliet’s perfectly. We got a take-charge and alpha sort of Ethan, mixed in with the good-guy he is, and I loved seeing this side to him:

"I mean it, sweetheart. You're not walking away from me. Not until we finish what we've started. And even then, I still won't let you go."
"How very caveman of you."
"Don't care. You're not going anywhere, Jules."

One thing I love about romantic suspense is the lack of much angsty relationship drama. Ethan and Juliet are too busy dodging bullets or trying to escape the enemy to be vacillating over their feelings. Important things become very clear, quickly, when you’re faced with life or death.

Midnight Pursuits
was another win for me and any fan of romantic suspense loaded with action and danger will definitely enjoy Elle Kennedy’s addictive and fun series!

I LOVED this book, and I’m really enjoying this series. A must read for all RS fans.

Juliet Mason is an ex-master thief, now an assassin for Noelle’s covert group of assassins. She receives an unexpected phone call from a hospital in Eastern Europe informing her that her brother has been shot, and is very critical. And so Juliet’s vengeance starts to bring down the person/s responsible.

Mercenary Ethan Hayes, the youngest member of his team, comes to Juliet’s aid when she’ injured during her mission.

I just loved these two together. Juliet thinks of Ethan as a kid because he’s 6 years younger than her, and because he’s a gentlemen. I loved how Ethan proved her wrong, showing her that age and politeness sure as hell didn’t make him any less a man than all the other older alphas in his team. He’s just as dominant, and just as sexy, especially in the bedroom. And she sure did love his younger stamina in bed :-)!

The romance and chemistry between Juliet and Ethan was so very hot, and they were just perfect for each other. They continued to surprise each other, acting in ways the other didn’t expect, and I loved them for it.

This is by far my favourite in this series. Next is Noelle and Jim’s book, and I’m wondering how that is going to work out. Those two have a lot of hate for each other.

A fantastic romantic suspense series, and a must read.

Total... bookgasm. It's been a blasted long time since I've found a romantic suspense that had me completely riveted and kept a tight hold on me until the very last page but damn Midnight Pursuits totally had me in it's grip from page one. I flew through this sucker. I'd go about getting something else done around the house and within a few minutes...no-no...I was back turning pages and getting lost in the world Kennedy created. I just...loved it. Assassins. Mercenaries. Kidnappings and corrupt politicians. Revenge and justice finally being served. Sarcasm and heat and all kinds of delicious tension. Merarg. Good!

The quick of it is that after losing the most important person in her life Juliet sets out for vengeance. And much to her dismay she winds up in a pretty dire predicament and having to call for help. Insult upon injury...when help does arrive it's the Rookie. The nice "boy" who is too young..too sweet..and just too...good all around for the hardened assassin she's become. And the one she wants to do wonderfully naughty things to despite it all. And Ethan is all for that! As leads are uncovered the two join forces to hunt down those behind the crimes and things get rather...interesting.

I really loved the characters--both Juliet and Ethan and the secondary characters that join in on the hunt. Juliet is an utterly fascinating and interesting heroine. She's an assassin with no attachments, that doesn't blink an eye at torture or killing someone and that from the outside definitely has a cold hard heart. She only cares about herself and things that impact her personally. The hell with anyone else. I really liked her and that she was the "harder" of the two. She can be scary as all fucking get out but she's also one you'd want on your side and that when she loves she'll do anything for you and not think twice.

And Ethan is a mercenary. Damn me... he's tasty. He's younger than both Juliet and his team and teased mercilessly about it. He's a good guy that's easy to fall for and that's got a lightness about him despite his career. And he's way more than what he seems on the surface. Under that good guy, easy going, charming persona he's all alpha male. Deadly, determined and one that'll totally make you suck in a breath and bite your lip because omg he SO needs to just slam you against a wall and have his way with you. Please! And there's dimples. I...loved him.
She went quiet for a second, then shook her head in dismay. "Goddamn you."

"Why do you always seem to be saying that to me?"

"Because you're too damn perfect, Ethan! I mean, listen to yourself. You aspired to be a doctor. So you could help people, right? And then you ended up serving in the Marines, so you could save the damn world." She heaved out a sigh. "You make everyone around you look like a selfish ass."

"Hold on--did you just call me Ethan?"

Her olive cheeks took on a pink hue. "No."

"You said my name. Not kiddo, not rookie. My actual name."

"So what if I did?"

Triumph coursed through his blood. "It means I'm getting to you."

Now she was practically sputtering. "You're not getting to me."

"Ha. I totally am." He flashed a victorious grin. "You like me."

"I do not."

"You absolutely do."

Their gazes locked, and almost immediately the air grew hotter, sizzled with awareness. Oh yes, she was definitely warming up to him. Not only that, but he could see in her eyes that she wanted him. She was looking at his mouth like she wanted him to kiss her. And his hands, as if she craved his touch. And then those gorgeous chocolate brown eyes dipped to his groin, as if she were dying to unzip his pants, release his dick, and ride him until they were both panting for air.

"Don't even think about it," she blurted out.

"Think about what?" he asked innocently.

"Your stupid baseball game. You're not making it to second base."

"Sure I am." The shrill ringing of a bell brought a rueful smile to his lips. "Just not now."
The two played off each other incredibly well. They exasperate each other and drive each other insane and yet somehow along the way as they get deeper into their mission love hits them. It was so...almost cute (weird to say with assassins and mercenaries but.. there ya go) to see it sneak up on them and how they dealt with their reactions. Things are fun and intense and sexy and just utterly delicious as they break down each others barriers. And sexy times are verra nice--and fun too.
When Juliet slid her hands beneath his sweater to stroke his rippled chest, he shivered and offered a husky laugh. "Your hands are freezing, sweetheart."

She nipped at his neck, licking his warm male flesh. "Does that mean you don't want me to touch your cock?"

"Oh, God, no. You'd better touch it."

Laughing quietly, she ran her fingertips over his tight six-pack, following the line of hair that arrowed down to his groin.

I really enjoyed the plot as well. Most of it's fairly spelled out but it's exciting and nerve wracking seeing the political corruption and terrorists uncovered and their plots revealed. Rescues and kidnappings, torture, secret hideaways. My palms were sweating in a couple spots and I just couldn't put the book down I wanted to see what would happen next so badly.

Really I was just completely taken by Midnight Pursuits. It was an incredible read and one that so brought on that flood of happy book endorphins every time I got to sit down and read another page. You know...where you get just a little giddy and can't help but smiling and being all excited? Yeah. That. Gah. Such a damn good feeling. From fascinating and engaging characters to an exciting plot I was all in and completely smitten with Kennedy's writing and the wonderfully unique romance she created. I can't wait to go back and read the earlier books and damn I'm so looking forward to the next release. All of the secondary characters were fantastic and so have my interest peaked. If you love romantic suspense...read this one. Pronto!

It was a great read. I mean, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. Killer Instincts is a great series and my favourite one. I love Elle Kennedy's writing no doubt. But I wasn't expecting much from the lead characters. But they surprised me and it in fact turned out to be one of my favourite books in the series

Ethan is the “rookie” of Morgan's team, cause he is the youngest member of his team. He receives a call meant for Isabel from Juliet and she’s in trouble. Juliet is very injured and sounds like she's in trouble so Ethan drops everything and comes to Juliet’s aid.

Juliet Mason is an ex-master thief, now an assassin for Noelle’s group of assassins. When Juliet gets a call from a hospital that her brother, Henry is shot and in critical condition, she hops immediately on a plane. When she finds out his fiancée was murdered in a professional way, Juliet takes it upon herself to track down the killer and exact her brother's and her vengeance.

Now in the last book, I wasn't the couple's big fan cause of their constant arguments. But in this book, you get to see his another alpha side.
So it start with Ethan helping Juliet get better and then he sticks and insists on helping Juliet out. Juliet, who is used to solitude on her mission is uncomfortable with Ethan joining in, especially when its her personal mission.

And how they work together and other characters come into play is just awesome. The story flows perfectly after that. I liked how age didn't really affect their relationship. Juliet was pretty cool about it once she admits to liking him. It was another great hit in Killer Instincts series!

I like the dialogues in this series, they're all very witty and fun and emotional.
Some of my favourite dialogues from this book:
“Out of curiosity, what do you do on the second date?”
The grin he shot her melted her insides. “I subscribe to baseball rules, of course. First, second, third, and then I screw your brains out.”

Juliet Is one of Noelle's assassin and just like the rest of them its harder for them to trust. Juliet doesn't have a family but who she calls brother is on the verge of dying and with his request he wants her to avenge his death and his fiance. But when she finds the killer she is stuck with being injured and she calls Isabel but she is on vacation and Ethan answers. For Ethan, he knows there's something about Juliet that he wants to start with but she is a stubborn and won't let herself find love. Ethan might be younger and his nickname would be the rookie but he is all MAN Alpha at that. When he convince Juliet to let him work with her she is not sure about it but slowly the wall around her heart come down. When they are stuck and face danger she realizes that she loves him and now there is hope for her after all.
I liked this story instead of the guy pushing away it's the women who don't do relationship. My favorite part was when Ethan was telling a childhood memory and Juliet walked away only to come back with cookies his mother made when he was young how Effin sweet!

Review posted on Got Fiction? book blog

This is my first Elle Kennedy book and while I liked it, I had a hard time with Juliet. This is one of those series where it helps to read in order. Don’t get me wrong, you won’t be confused or feel like you’re lost, but I think if I’d read the previous books, maybe I’d like Juliet more.

That’s the problem here. I didn’t really care about or for her until maybe three quarters of the way through. And that kind of sucks. But the story itself was good.

Juliet is a thief turned assassin. She’s very good at what she does. Her brother was killed and she’s going to find out who and why. But when she’s shot in the process, she calls her friend for help. Her friend is on her honeymoon however and she gets Ethan.

Ethan instantly catches a flight to Belarus to help. But once Juliet is out of death’s door, she tries to kick him out. She works alone.
Ethan for his part is only 25 so he’s called Rookie and Kiddo constantly, but he never lets it get to him. He knows Juliet only does that because she’s trying to keep him at a distance.

At one point he tells her that she’s been looking at him all wrong. He might be younger than she is, but he’s got stamina. (wink wink)
In the meantime, I like how he got under her skin, and I like how he proved she does after all have a heart.

But they can’t just go in guns blazing and get revenge. It turns out that Juliet’s brother was killed because he walked in on a professional hit. The victim was his fiancée. Ethan and Juliet pool their resources and figure out not only who is behind the hit, but that there’s a list with several other names. While Ethan wants to protect them, Juliet is ready to kill.

But it’s not that easy. It never is.

They call in their teams and even though Juliet works alone, this time around she needs all the help she can get.

With time running out, and their position compromised, how will this play out?

This series is just so good! Every time I think I have something figured out, there is a new loop, another perspective, and I am just at the edge of my seat. I love it! The romance is hot, and the action is at least as hot ;)

Juliet is part of a team of assassins who’s known for her breaking/entering and stealing skills. She works for Noelle, a woman no one in their right minds wants to cross and for Juliet, her job keeps her detached from others and really, that’s the way she wants it. She had a tough upbringing, bouncing around from foster home to foster home until she met Henry, a sweet boy 2 years younger than Juliet and they became siblings connected as family in every way but blood and they only had each other to count on. In present day, Juliet gets a call that Henry’s been shot and isn’t expected to make it through the night. She finds out that Henry’s girlfriend, who was also killed, was the main target of what appears to be a break-in and Henry’s last request to Juliet is find and kill the man who did this. Juliet goes off to get vengeance for her brother, knowing full well that this wasn’t a random break-in but an execution of Henry’s girlfriend, but Juliet is injured badly in the process and while she tries to contact one of her female team members, she ends up getting Ethan Hayes instead. Ethan, a young 25 year old kid in Juliet’s eyes, flies out to help her and refuses to leave when Juliet finds herself in the middle of a much bigger mission than she anticipated. A mission filled with the murdered family members of foreign government officials, 3 potential targets who are still on the killer’s hit list and her main target, the man responsible for it all, including her brother’s death. Juliet and Ethan, along with members from both of their teams, set out to protect the people who are still targets and find the man responsible so Juliet can do what she’s desperate to do, kill him.

The suspense plays a large role in the story, followed by a substantial supporting character storyline for Noelle and the person she hates most in the world, Jim Morgan. Because of this, I found that the relationship between Ethan and Juliet lacked some build up.Off the top, Juliet constantly referring to Ethan early on as kid really was annoying. I get it, I get that his age is about 6 years younger than her and he has that all-american, good guy vibe happening. He’s a really nice guy and it seemed like a case of Juliet just didn’t know what box to put him in. Because while he might be young, he takes charge when the situation calls for it, he’s an alpha (rawr) and he ends up being exactly who Juliet needs. That said, with their entire relationship playing out while they’re on this mission, there was no real down time for them to be a couple. Not that I’d ever expect Juliet to be one for wanting romance and woo’ing, but well, I wanted it for them. I ultimately just needed more for them on page regarding their relationship, but true to the badass fighters that they are, their most touching scene and the one that showed them both laid open emotionally, happens at the end with them both in a life threatening situation, but it fit who they are perfectly.

The suspense included the usual bad guy, out for his own brand of vengeance that resulted from his son’s murder. For me, the suspense served a main purpose of bringing in certain team members to help out Ethan and Juliet, most notably Noelle, Juliet’s boss, Morgan, Ethan’s boss, and D – a team member of Morgan’s and the man Noelle is sleeping with, who is living in his own hell of some sort. We don’t know much about D other than he’s a hard, hard man and I’m more intrigued than ever to get his story. But with the build up they get, Noelle and Morgan’s story has to be next. It has to Elle Kennedy, do you hear me?! These two characters have a history together that has made them hate each other with a killing passion in the present. I’m at the point now where I need to know what happened in their past and I need to see the obvious chemistry that’s between them blow up on page.

While I did enjoy getting to know Ethan and Juliet and seeing them work together as a deadly unit on page, I was letdown a bit with their romance. I just wanted more, plain and simple. But the moments between Noelle and Morgan were just too good and addicting and I can’t wait to get my hands on their story.

Another amazing piece from Elle Kennedy! Yes, I immensely enjoyed Midnight Pursuits and so far, it is my favourite book in the series! This time, it involves Ethan (a merc) and Juliet (pro-thief/assassin) and the story is about vengeance and yet kill the evil guy for the benefit of others.

The main characters are likable and I loved that I felt connected to them. I knew Ethan since Book One and I agreed that he’s the nicest amongst his teammates. He is loving and caring. He’s always the first one to offer help. Very cheerful too but he can also be deadly especially when he’s on field. One thing I admired the most about him is his endless patience. He only snapped when he’s truly being pushed to dire edge and only one particular person can do that, his other half, Juliet.

Now Juliet, she was my least favourite heroine in previous book because I found that she was annoying woman with her being too sarcastic and barb remarks. However, that changed after I got to know her in this book. Compared to other heroines in the series, I loved that she’s easily open up about her feelings (to Ethan, especially) although the self-preservation is still there. I loved that she doesn’t beat around bushes and rather just straightforward to the matter. I loved that she’s living a life outside work, participate in extreme sports activity just for the thrill of it. Definitely my kind of girl!

I loved their exchanged conversations, their banters, they made me laugh a lot! Just so you know, their romance was scorchingly hot and when they’re alone, they’re very cheeky!

Secondary characters were great too. I particularly focused more on Derek, Jim and Noelle though. Derek was overconfident with him being an emotionless guy and well, I don’t believe him. Someday, he’ll get past his own demon and have his own happy ending just like most of his teammates. Jim and Noelle, they hated each other or so they said. The thing about them is I believe there’s love between them but bitterness and hatred overshadowed it. Anyway, I read the excerpt of next book and it’s their story. I just can’t wait to have my hands on it because I am so curious as to know what’s the fuss between them that it dragged for a long, long time.

The plot though, it was awesome. It was full of surprises and suspense. The combat scenes were thrilling and I specially enjoyed Juliet’s the most because she’s a pro and lethal, ruthless and kill without mercy. Disregard her vulnerability and she’s a strong person. You can say danger is her best friend and this leads to my other curiosity just exactly how Noelle turned her chameleons just like her. I hope I will get some glimpse on the training how to become an assasin sort in Midnight Action. Fingers’ crossed, wishful thought.

Great book, great series. You should try the series if it’s your first romantic suspense and Ms. Kennedy, you are so my new favourite. Since the latest book is yet to release, I guess I’m going to pick other romantic suspense books then to sate this hunger for action.

Highly recommended.

This is the fourth book in the Killer Instincts series and it's as action packed as the rest. If you enjoy romantic suspense then Ms Kennedy is a name you really have to follow. This series featuring ex military men interacting with female assassins is just too good to miss and every book is a standalone but the layers just build throughout making this such fun to read.
Ethan is the youngest in his team but make no mistake Ethan is just as deadly as the rest. Hey he may be twenty five but as an ex marine he's not exactly a babe in arms! When he answers a shocking phone call it's the maddening Juliet on the line but it's clear she's in a bad way and needs help . There's no way Ethan would ignore a damsel in distress and besides Juliet is almost like a team mate so no question about it Ethan is going to help!
Juliet is a pretty good thief but she now works for Noelle and when someone she loves turns into collateral damage it starts a chain of events that see Juliet needing help. Injured and alone Juliet reaches out but when the Rookie comes to her rescue she's not exactly that pleased to see him . Juliet may not be impressed by the guy she views as a boy but Ethan is all man and quietly determined to help Juliet. As they look into the reasons why Henry and his fiancée were murdered it leads them into a world of corruption and revenge but can they ever find justice?
You just have to love these characters that Ms Kennedy dreams up. Ethan is seen as being so sweet but trust me he really does have a darker side and could slam me up against a wall any day! Oh yes Ethan is seriously one deadly hottie both in and out of the bedroom, poor Juliet never really stood a chance. As for my thoughts on Juliet I really liked the way the author allowed her to be seen as a hard woman but one who you would want on your side . She's loyal to the bone but not stupid and that's what makes her such a satisfying heroine.
An unusual way to start the book but it really hooked me and then as the plot got going it quickly became an edge of the seat thrill packed ride. There were times I wanted to look away, cover my eyes and cower but hey I'm a martyr to the cause so clearly had to keep going! What a ride and the author is not finished yet. Oh no Jim and Noelle feature as well in this book and finally we are getting answers about the two most intriguing characters in this series. Sexy, exciting and just plain good. Another fantastic instalment and I'm so looking forward to reading the next book Midnight Action

MIDNIGHT PURSUITS is exhilarating ride filled with romance, intrigue, adventure and drama. Juliet Mason and Ethan Hayes decide to work together on a dangerous mission in Russia. Juliet Mason is an invisible assassin and she is trying to find the person who killed her brother. Juliet’s job is to kill people without anyone ever finding out who killed them. Ethan works as a mercenary on a team which specializes in extraction not killing. They are adrenaline junkies who get a high from their dangerous jobs. Because of their occupations, they never get too close to anyone because it’s impossible to have a relationship with someone and lie about what they do for a living. Juliet is used to working on her own and not relying or trusting anyone but herself. She reluctantly agrees to work with Ethan, only because he insists on helping her and won’t take no for an answer. Juliet is strong and gutsy with a tough exterior. There is a sizzling chemistry between Ethan and Juliet, but Juliet tries her best to ignore it. I loved all the verbal foreplay between Ethan and Juliet. Although Juliet is attracted to Ethan, she doesn’t think he is her type, because he seems too young, fresh faced, sweet and caring. Juliet is a daredevil, full of life and exciting. Ethan likes everything about Juliet and has never been with another woman like her. While they search for the killer they are together all the time and its get harder and harder for them to ignore the simmering attraction. Ethan is an alpha warrior, he is sexy, intelligent, tough and a great lover, which surprises Juliet. Juliet keeps telling herself she is going to stay away from Ethan, but every time he touches her, she can’t seem to resist him. Ethan wants a relationship, but Juliet doesn’t do relationships.

Elle Kennedy is a talented writer who makes the characters come to life. Her writing style made me feel as though I was right there in the middle of all the action. I know I can always count on Elle Kennedy for an entertaining story and she didn’t disappoint me. This is the fourth book in the Killer Instincts series and each one is a standalone. What a fast paced, thrilling story.

Ethan Hayes is the twenty-five year old rookie on Jim Morgan's team. He's young and the newest on the mercenary team, but that does not mean he is not skilled and deadly.

Juliet Mason is a highly trained assassin, thief and operative on Noelle's team. She's closed off, sarcastic, fearless, stubborn, untrusting, and jaded. She believes in self preservation and makes few attachments. She is fiercely independent and hates having to ask for help.

Even though she loved to tease and taunt Ethan during their previous encounters, when Juliet sends out an SOS, he comes to her rescue. And much to her dismay he basically pushes himself right into her newest op and her life.

But she soon begins to realize that Ethan is more than he seems. Sure he can be the polite, protective, boy scout and gentleman. But he is also mature, alpha, bossy, confidant, quick witted, charming, and sexy. He is cool under pressure, deadly, and good to have at your back. And the more time they spend together, the more their sexual tension and chemistry sizzle.

I came to like Juliet and Ethan's rapport and suitability despite their different background, personalities, and small age difference (she is a bit older at thirty-one). They balanced each other well with Ethan having more of a conscience and cool head and Juliet being the one that fearlessly goes after her goals. I loved watching them trying to handle each other and how Ethan was able to hold his own and even surprise her.

Juliet's vendetta ends up a bigger op than she or Ethan even realized and eventually they have to bring in more help. So we get more with Noelle, Jim, D, Sully, Liam, and Luke. I particularly liked more with D and Noelle and Jim. This takes place in winter in Belarus with political plots, assassinations, kidnappings, and vengeance. And it eventually turns into a risk for the team that could involve the ultimate sacrifice.

I am really enjoying this series and am looking forward to Abby and Kane's novella and especially more with Jim and Noelle. The plot just keeps thickening with those two and their mysterious past.

Holy mother of…. The ending of this book just blew my mind. Each of these books has paired a man from the mercenary’s team and a woman from the assassins team but at the core its always been the underlying mystery between Jim (leader of the mercs) and Noelle (leader of the assassins) that has fueled every book. I loved the story of Ethan and Juliet. The two couldn’t have been more different not just in age but also in their upbringings and their views on life. Juliet has always considered herself a loner and hardened to the core but when her foster brother is killed she wants vengeance but manages to get herself shot and Ethan is the one to take the call for help when her fellow teammate is off on her honeymoon. As usual the suspense was high and almost all the team ended up involved. I absolutely cannot wait until the next book which is Noelle and after you read this book you will be as crazy as I am in having to wait for it. Bravo Ms Kennedy was another great adventure in a fabulous series that I just cant get enough of.

4.5 Stars. This was actually my favorite book in the series so far. I actually wasn't looking forward to this book as I wasn't crazy about Ethan and Jules from the previous book but you really got to see the characters and another side to them in this book.

I thought Ethan was a really compelling hero and different then the rest of the team. He is still an alpha male but he doesn't have to be "the biggest bada**" in the room. He can be laid back and very charming yet when push comes to shove he's protective and knows what he wants and goes all out to get it (in this case that being Jules).

This book had a lot more character development and relationship development then previous books and a better mix of relationship vs action then the previous books which I really enjoyed. There was still plenty of action and suspense and an interesting plot but the author took more time to develop the feelings between Ethan and Jules so by the time they got around to revealing their feelings it felt more believable.

Midnight Pursuits is another kick-ass installment in the Killer Instincts series. This time we get the rookie's story and it was everything I had anticipated. Sexy romance and a plot that centers around crazy-good action, this story hooked me from the very beginning.

Ethan is not only the youngest member of Morgan's mercenary team but the one with the biggest heart. After he intercepts a troubling call from Juliet, he jumps a plane to go to her rescue, even if she is a tough as nails assassin. Juliet tries to push the rookie to leave so she can avenge her brother's murder alone but that's just not in his character. Once Juliet opens her eyes and sees that Ethan is more than just a sweet kid,she lets her barriers down and in the process finds her own heart to give to him.

Midnight Pursuits can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the whole series so you can get to know all these character's since they weave throughout each story.

Man while reading this book all I wanted was glimpses of Noelle and well we did get a dose of her. Now, Ethan and Paige was the main story and I enjoyed that too. Ethan is younger than Paige and when she gets into trouble after her brother is murdered he shows up instead of Izzy and refuses to leave. I found the mystery okay it didn't engage me much but I lived for Noelle and Morgan so it is awesome that their book is next.

I skimmed pages and stopped a few times before I finally finished this. From the start I didn't particularly care about Ethan/Juliet. And their story was kinda boring me.

I did this book solely for Noelle/Jim. The next book had better be about them. I've been anticipating their story from book #1.

Dear EK, please have mercy on us. Stop dangling the bait and just release the Kraken already. Thanx.

Didn't really enjoy Midnight Pursuits as much as the previous books in the series. I felt that Jules and Nate's book was of a set up for the next book as it contains a bigger story with what I feel are the main two characters in this series. Which really took away from what was happening with Midnight Pursuits.
Otherwise it was a good book with interesting characters as always. I enjoyed seeing some of the previous characters as well.

Fantastic read

## Great read. Writing is superb and the characters are both likeable. I love that Jules was a badass but was able to be vulnerable eventually. And Ethan was H-O-T hot. Well done once again Ms. Kennedy.
