A terrifying storm lashed Sydney’s North Shore on June 21st, 1975. Boats were swamped and jetties smashed in what some claim was the worst storm to hit the coast for four decades.
In the midst of the chaos, Luke Romyn’s parents battled to get to a hospital to birth their baby boy. Normally their idyllic island cottage was a near-paradise; on this night the journey to the mainland in their tiny boat seemed like a passage through Hell. Their son was born near midnight, but part of the storm never left him.
When Luke reached fifteen years of age his father was killed while working in Fiji, leaving Luke and his mother alone. At times, the only things to get Luke through his grief were the stories playing out in his head, endless fantastical tales of lands both distant and near, with characters who would protect him from any tragedy.
At eighteen, Luke began working in nightclubs as a bouncer. Unbeknownst to him, this was simply the first step on a trek which would dictate much of his life from that point on. For over two decades since, Luke has worked in the security industry; from bouncing in some of Australia's roughest pubs and nightclubs to protecting Mickey Mouse and the Disney crew from the overzealous jaws of tenacious toddlers. He's been bodyguard for celebrities internationally and chased feral pigs and snakes from jungle sets on Steven Spielberg productions. Luke has traveled the globe and spent time in some of the most amazing locations the world has to offer.
This experience fuels the Australian writer’s ever-expansive imagination, and he pours it into his novels, combining fact with fiction, history with fantasy, delivering engrossing action-thrillers which leave fans gasping for more. Luke’s quick wit has seen his social media following explode, and he is currently one of the most prolific social media celebrities in Australia, with several hundred thousand followers across the internet.
Publishing his first book, The Dark Path, in 2009 saw it voted in the top 10 horror novels of that year, even though Luke denies ever intending the novel to be classed as horror. Luke Romyn is now one of the most popular indie authors in the ever-growing eBook market and personally completes everything from cover art to final formatting, working tirelessly with editors so as to refine the best stories possible for his readers. The results are international bestsellers you’re certain to love diving into. Hundreds of thousands of readers can’t be wrong.
This book is about and ordinary young man who finds out that he's not so ordinary after all and that the fate of man rest in his hand .
This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites the characters are so relatable I mean Jake is just thrown into this fight between Heaven and He'll with all of mankind at stake he's given very little help (for good reasons he has to figure things out himself he can't be influenced by others ) our protagonist is not particularly religious do to his foster father I have a therapy about that to but I'll wait to see if I'm right . All of this opponent's are incredibly powerful with unimaginable resources behind them and Make being an ordinary man must put whit them or out think them but his opponents always seem to have the upper hand looking forward to the third installation of this series .
Sounds stalkerish, but I have fallen in love with this author! His first book I read, Corpus Christi blew me away. Since then I've bought all his books.
I bought this book in July and just now read it in Sept. I felt bad for not jumping right into it, but I wasn't quite ready for the heaviness that Mr. Romyn's books bring to the table. I'm not talking physical weight. I'm talking emotional, mental and just down right WTH is wrong with me!
I honestly don't know what genre to label his writing. He deserves a category of his own called...Just Read The Damn Book Because It's Good! Under amazon he is listed as thriller and horror. I've read horror and thriller, to me this isn't it. Let me just explain what I mean quickly:
We all know by now, Jake is the new Messiah. The only problem is...is he the real one? Satan has sent Fallen out to destroy the Earth and Jake and all his allies. Jake still questions how he is to accomplish this monumental task with no direction. Jake learns he may or may not be the spawn of Satan.
I see why the label this horror...DEMONS. I also see where the terror comes to play...HELL and SATAN! You also have blood, guts, torture and death. Just your basic good all around bed time story. I personally live the authors sense of humor that is dribbled into the book. I personally think the character Vain, is the alter ego of Mr. Romyn.
I don't know why at the time I wrote my review, only 7 people have reviewed this book. More people should be reading his work. He is an outstanding author with a wonderful imagination. I'm looking forward to seeing how Jake and his Followers deal with Satan.

Despite my ever-growing pile of books I mean well to read, when this book was released I purchased it straight away and placed it atop my list. I've read everything this author has published and I've yet to be disappointed with my time spent reading his work. His books are always multifaceted and engaging.
So, on to this one in particular. Earth is in great peril, the Antichrist has appeared and the gates of hell have been flung open. It is left for man to oppose the great deceiver and win the day. Heady stuff, occasionally offset by the author's trademark humor. Sins of the Father, the much awaited second volume in The Legacy Chronicles, was, in short, amazing. Imagine, if you will, a plot which involves matching wits with the Devil himself. Do you enjoy a book filled with intrigue? We follow along on the journey undertaken by Jacob Hope as he endeavors, as a mere mortal, to discern how he is to defeat the forces of hell which are allied against him. Sure, he has aid now and again from angels and he does possess some ethereal powers which he has yet to fully comprehend, but the task is, to say the least, daunting. One other source of assistance at various times comes in the person of Vain, an assassin with loyalties to no one, but who at least has no fondness for Satan. Although he is a minor player in the series so far, Vain is a complicated character and should you wish to know more of him do not hesitate to grab a copy of The Dark Path, which features him and describes his origins.
Another first-rate offering from Luke Romyn awaits you. Don't hesitate to get a copy!
I do not think I have ever had a character go through so much emotions that was like a pendulum going back and forth. But yet so much growth as well. This is one thing I love about character development which Luke Romyn gives in abundance. All of the characters go through changes growing to so much more like Jake. Just as life touches us and we change so does Jake.
I never could stand whiney characters especially when they stay that way throughout a series. It is one way to insure that I will not continue a book. But Luke has developed the characters and brought others in that keep the story going.
The arch has not been compromised once. Their have not been easy answers to tough decisions which when writing fiction some do. I love that Luke has kept this in the realm of plausibility. And of course I am reaching for the next book as well. Burning down the charge on my tablet quickly only cause I just don't want to stop. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I look forward for more!!!

This is the second book in the series. It is much darker than the original book, but still just as interesting. The characters are developed even further, with an interesting twist to the main character. Another fast-paced, action-filled novel leaving me wanting to continue on the journey.
