I was disappointed with this book....
I was expecting the 10 commandments for a perfect wardrobe to actually BE about a perfect wardrobe.

Instead I got advice on healthy diet, workouts, shopping for my man (none of which I need from this book, thank you) and a little bit about what pieces I should have in my wardrobe.

There were only a few pages talking about styles best suited to the different body types, but not near enough to help me shop.
Oh, yes, there was a whole chapter on what I should chuck out of my closet, and how I should decorate my empty closet, but less than 1% of the book would actually help me put a Perfect Wardrobe back into the closet.

okay, I was worried about this book from some of the low ratings. But, I am actually at a 3.5 star rating.

I was also expecting more than about a chapter on how to fit clothes for your body size. But, there is so much more in the book that I did like. I didn't mind reading about the different topics cause it gave me more insight on what I need in my closet.

Here's a list of what's in the book:
-How to organize your closet.
-Which hangers to use for different clothing.
- A list of what you need in your wardrobe.
-How to take care of your clothes with tips on washing or drycleaning.
-Tips on getting healthy and setting goals.
- How to shop and accessorize.
-Which purses and bags to carry.
-Jewelry you should have in your wardrobe for which clothing top you have like boatneck, strapless, etc.
-Make up tips. How to do a smokey eye.
-How to pose and look good in a photo.
- A list of the different types of clothing and shoes and the names, along with photos. Such as what is a boatneck, a shrug, a decollete, A-line, bodice, and many more.
- A section for how to dress your man if you need it.

Some of the tips I like:

-He has a list of a lot of differnet websites in the book and why you'd want to use those websites.
- Lawrence does not like anyone wearing sneakers except to work out in.
- He says...shop for flattering fits, not worry about the size.
-Rules for wearing necklaces: Bigger necklace, smaller earrings, and vice a versa.

And, there's even websites listed where you can take a photo of yourself and try on different hair styles and hair color. And, a 5 min. workout anywhere website.

-Dress your age.

There are more things in this book than I thought there would be. So, I personally enjoyed it, but wish there would have been more on how to dress for your body type. But, he does give you examples of stars to compare your body type with theirs, along with tips on face shapes when it comes to hair and jewelry.

Nothing new at all. Glowing reviews for what? How to wear a ball gown? Trying to be slick with some strange lingo "you got it girlfriend". I would love someone to write one of these books about everyday people who wear jeans and inexpensive stuff. I'm sure there is one out there, but I haven't found it yet.

Bought this for my wife who hated it. We expected this to be about fashion and improving her style. The author speaks in a condescending tone and talks more about diet and life choices.
We are using this book as firewood.

Lawrence Zarain provides good, basic information on putting together a complete wardrobe by giving Ten Commandments for a Perfect Wardrobe. I love it that the first commandment is about loving your body - and that is actually a common thread through the entire book. What's missing, though, is anything really new about expressing yourself through your personal style.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when you purchase a book outside of the "religion and spirituality" genre and find an author talking about God. There is certainly an audience that is interested in hearing about Mr. Zarain's 12-step program and his personal struggles, but I think it's inappropriate to include it in a book that is about fashion.

The other thing that I just couldn't get past is the recommendation that women in their 40's should dress in crème, black, navy, and gray, wear tailored clothes with "feminine details" and stick to simple jewelry. Maybe in his world, but in my world, Halle Berry, Jen Aniston, and Heidi Klum have re-written those rules. No matter your age, you should be able to express yourself through your style!

So... apparently in order to build my perfect wardrobe I must do several key things:

-- lose weight
-- throw away everything
-- decorate my closet
-- learn how to shop for my man

...

There isn't much in this book act actually building a wardrobe. The narrative is condescending at best and degrading at worst.

B.S. A platform to build this man's ego. Maybe if I were a bit more naive or if I hadn't read the cook expecting tips on how to build a better wardrobe (where'd I get that idea from?) then this book wouldn't have aggravated me so badly.

I won this book in a giveaway and so glad that I did! I absolutly love this book! Great tips when it comes to organizing your closet, becoming a healthier version of you, and learning to love yourself.

However, it should be called "10 Commandments to the Perfect You" or something along those lines.

I was excited to read this book. Being a mom of 5 children and 4 stepchildren and 4 grandchildren I am ready to try new looks. I thought this would have 10 types of clothes and give ideas for each body shape. And what I got was so much more. The author shows you how to be happy with your body and you can look sexy no matter what size. I would definitely recommend this to my friends.

This book is just as much about body image as it is about fashion. I read the 2014 version and most of it is still appropriate for today's advise. One of the things I really appreciated about this book is that each chapter has a "top takeaways from this chapter." Very positive outlook for women who feel frumpy, dowdy, not neat or smart in dress, drab, plain, dated, old-fashion, lack of taste, or unflattering. The opposite of frumpy is “chic” and this book is all about creating your own signature style.

Fun read. I love LZ’s personality can he pick a reviewer from here to makeover???? I really liked the before and after pics but at end in glossary a tip would be to list what body type would work with each piece.

New You

New You

I love this book because it included the fuller figure woman and the woman over 60. There are so many things that I never considered about my wardrobe and shopping that I can't wait to get started.
