I have been an avid reader for longer than I can remember, desiring the darker, edgier works of Bram Stoker, Stephen King, Dean Koontz. I first started writing in High School giving that away when my first attempt was nothing more than dribble. I wish now that I kept at it, pursued it with a hunger that I currently possess.
Writing is my passion, it is what fuels the fires inside of me and it is an all-or-nothing furnace that keeps me up at all hours.
I am married to a wonderful supportive husband, I have 2 wonderful kids and the best friends that I have waited some 35 odd years to meet.
There's no doubt there's something for everyone in End of Dreams. Merciless serial killers, attempted rape, and edgy storyline for you dark lovers. Angels, hardcore vampires, & supernatural guardians, for those who love fantasy. Two people who fall in love during the most dire of situations for you romantics. Scratch all that..you want to read a great F’N thriller period??? Well then End of Dreams is the book for you. I don’t have a lot of dark fantasy books under my belt but if I did, this one would set my standards. Its dismal, violent, thrilling, suspenseful, enduring and an absolute thrill ride. End of Dreams has so many layers packed into one it’s unreal. Well not really that shocking if you’re familiar with other books by Kim Faulks. She knows how to build a story. She knows how to work the angles. And She knows how to do it right! From the first page I was completely hooked. It gripped at my heart like a vice and I knew I had to see it through to the end. Was completely taken off guard with what transpired within the pages and that ending blew my friggin mind. Fantastic story telling and just captivating as hell. I LOVED it.
This book was definitely a surprise. From the cover I feared it might me to soft and romantic, but the story packed a lot of action and wasn't squeamish at all. Somwhere around the middle I got a bit overwhelmed by the many different plotlines which seemed fit to put into several novels. However, the author managed to weave everything together nicely into one complex and original tale of vampires, angels, gods, prophecies, and inevitably the everlasting fight of good against evil.
I appreciated the ending being not too happy and preparing the ground for a sequel whithout leaving the reader disappointed with too many open threads. While another session of editing could have wiped out any remaining typos, the writing shows a very talented author and made reading rapid and fluent.
Definitely recommended and I'll keep an eye out for the sequel.

Jessica Porter was crying for her mom. Edric Hasting (Woodcutter) plans on taking her to her mom. Eve not under her mother’s strings anymore goes to a Hurrow’s Federal Hotel bar to have a drink. Eve’s father had committed suicide. She took Valium with her drink. Outside the bar Eve still a virgin was attacked, raped & was rescued the unknown man later kissed her. She ended up P/G.
Adley Scott replays in his mind Senior Constable Nathan Danver son was abducted from the Children’s playground at Mountainstone Park. Nathan was found dead, as was Matthew Scott (case 5); cut into pieces now the Woodcutter had Luke. Other victims were; Sebastian Hayden, Stephanie Krass, Lilly Norman. The media called the operation Hansel & Gretel, there were 12 open cases. Adley had arrested Edric Hasting (Woodcutter) & had every intention of blowing his brains out. Lila another victim was in the Richmond Clinic, a psychiatric hospital.
At the police station Adley was removed of his badge/gun & taken off the case. After sentencing the Woodcutter is going to be taken to Bartley’s Island a medium security prison just off the coast of Queensland. Colin Murray had taken Adley’s place, later he was put back on the force & reassigned. Detective Rachel Gordon was also assigned to transport the prisoner. Along the way they were ambushed & Edric got away with his accomplice (Mercy ?), the 2 were brutally killed.
Azrael was born into human form, Rashda (winged creature), the Mistress of Shadows vs. Master of Light who were in charge, they were about to blow up a place in Sydney, Australia (?). Grimm was a lycan (wolf), Smoky a djinn, Scribe was the star child, Princess Harmony & Jinx were 2 of the original vampires that were created. Kali Rashda sister was another vampire warrior. Most had killed. Wow, what a twist/turn; Rashda had written a letter to Adley Scott.
Edric & Mercy came to Eve’s house, they were going to slit her open & cut the baby out. Eve stabbed Mercy with a wooden shard, she was killed & the police arrived. Edric escaped & told her he would be back.
Once again Adley Scott retired from the police force & received an Honorable discharge & was free/clear to go after the Woodcutter.
Will Eve’s baby get to be born? How many of the cases will be solved? Will Edric Hasting (Woodcutter, the Abortionist?) ever be brought to justice? Is he a vampire? What do all the other vampires have to do with Detective Adley Scott? How long will the Vampires (Immortal) wage war against the humans (mortal)?
I love the sexy provocative book cover. Great story line, easy to read/follow plot, flowed from start/finish. No grammar errors or out of story line sequence, a lot of unexpected twist/turns, murder, drama & suspense & great unique characters. What a great vampire psycho thriller movie this would make. Or maybe this is already the awesome TV series Grimm? This is an easy rating of 5 stars.
As a book reviewer it is very rare for me to give any work 5 stars, but this story did that one thing that every great story does - it made me want more!! I couldn't stop thinking about it even when I wasn't reading. I found myself putting off things I was supposed to do because I wanted so badly to keep reading!
Eve is a young, pregnant runaway, working two jobs as she tries to survive and provide for her unborn child. Edric Hasting used to be a serial killing paedophile, before he sunk even deeper into darkness and has now fixated on Eve as his ultimate victim.
Adley Scott is a policeman who's haunted by the abduction and death of his nephew by Edric Hasting, who he's determined to make pay. Rashda is an oracle, seeing glimpses of the present and future, unable to act other than with limited communication to her Family and Adley.
When Rashda receives a vision, she realises that Eve's unborn son could play a pivotal role in the future of humanity, but only if Edric doesn't kill Eve first. With the limited information she has, she sets Adley and her Family to find and protect Eve. Time is running out for Eve though, as Edric closes in for the kill while the others are still trying to locate her.
I really enjoyed the characters. I felt like they were well rounded with history behind each and every one of them. I am not sure where the story is going to go with them, but I am anxious to find out. My favorite would have to be Jinx. I know he is like the bad luck charm of the group (hence his name) but I can't help but love the vampires best. I am a paranormal romance fanatic and the vampires are always my favorite.
I wasn't sure where the story was going at first. It was very fast paced, but I did feel like there was a lot of filler material. The chapters are broke up into different points of view of the same situations (common in POV stories). My only issue with this was some of the POV were unnecessary. I felt like in order to get more pages, there was more and more unnecessary content. Now, that isn't to say that the information leads somewhere (which I find most of the time) so I wasn't turned off by it.
This story had many twists and turns. I was dark, sexy, thralling, passionate, and keeps you on your toes. I was not bored from beginning to end. The author did a fantastic job of keeping me interested from the first to the last page. I am usually not a thriller reader, but I have to chalk this up to me trying to go outside of my binds and I am so glad I did. SO much can be said for a book that is outside of your normal genre that puts you on an epic thrill ride. The story was fascinating, the writing was unique, and the story was seamless. Hats off!! 5 out of 5 stars!!
Eve is young and pregnant. All she wants is a good life for her her unborn child. However a killer that that like to kill children has her in his sites. Edric wants her baby and her blood and he has to have it. As Eve sees her only chance is to run she has help from Adley Scott who wants the killer brought to justice almost more than anyone. Eve also can't get her ultrasound pictures out of her mind. She knows she saw black wings in the picture but doesn't know what it means.Eve's survival means a lot to many people including a group of Immortals who have two sides. Good and evil are playing out a war and Eve may play an important part in the war for the world that most people don't know is going on.
Let me start off by saying this is a hard book to read. Not hard in it is written badly but hard as it has some very harsh scenes. From the beginning you see how evil the killer Edric is. He loves to kill children and nothing is held back. If you can't stand to read about this subject this book is not for you. If you can get past that or you can read that let me say this book is very dark and twisted but is masterfully done. The author does a great job create a dark place that will haunt your mind. There is many characters you get to meet in this book and all play a part in the battle for the world. There is plenty of suspense in this book even if you already know who the killer is you still don't know what will happen next for Eve and Adley. There is many more characters you get to see and several you get to read the book from their POV. This is not a book you can read quickly. You need to take you time with it because a lot is going on and you don't want to miss anything. This book would be a great one even without the Immortals but add them in and it gives it a great touch. It adds a whole new twist that you have to keep reading to see what will happen next. I would recommend to anyone who likes a dark book and can read books that deal with a child killer. If you can't read a book with these don't bother to pick this one up.
You have to read this! You absolutely have to read this book! I wish and pray that one day I’ll be able to write like Kim Faulks. Her ability to engage, build suspense and heighten drama is amazing.
Right from the beginning we are introduced to a brilliantly-written, most unhinged character: Edric. I won’t tell you what he does…you’re best to get the full ‘punch’ as you read it.
And then there’s Rashda, and Adley, and Eve, Kali, Harmony, Jinx – so many others – and each and every character is individual, with their own voices and mannerisms, their own desires and history, deep and multi-faceted, as complex as any human being would be. Perhaps now would be a good time to mention that not all of them are human, but boy, are they amazing!
The storyline twists and turns and twists again, and the suspense was killing me! I had this incredible urge to skip through so I could see what happens, but at the same time I couldn’t because too much was going on, and all of it was important. I was sucked in good and proper. And beware the extra layers to this fictional society – there may be parallels you can distinguish, just as dark and dangerous as the real thing!
The descriptions are very good, the pacing perfect. The ending opens up some incredible avenues. I cannot wait to read the sequel. There was absolutely nothing about this book that I didn’t like.
I’ve enjoyed this book far more than should be allowed. It doesn’t seem fair that five stars are all I get to award.
This is the third series that I have read by Mrs Kim Faulks. Her books are very addictive! I cannot recommend this author to every one enough. There's all kinds of mythological creatures in this series as well. Come meet Grimm, Rashda, Kali, Smoky, Jinx, Harmony and the rest of the gang. You'll be glad you did. I loved it and know you will too! All of her books are at least five star's! Come join the fun!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Ok if you love horror and dark fantasy then you are going love this book!!! It was so AMAZING writed there was times I was like did that just really happen!!! I say it's a must read!!!!

I am sorry but I cannot finish this. I don't like saying that I disliked a book when the author or publisher has been so kind to have given me a free review copy but part of the deal is a "honest review" and that is what I am going to give so I will admit that I just cannot make myself read anymore of End of Dreams. I, honestly, have no idea what was happening. Nothing made sense to me. I didn't understand who was who and I felt like I have started the second book of a series for there were references to all these previous events that I had no knowledge of.
My version didn't even have speech marks or apostrophes in it so I was unable to differentiate dialogue from the actual writing which made it very hard to read and was awfully confusing.
Also, while I don't find swearing in novels to usually be a problem, the overuse of cussing is already getting on my nerves. It seems the author doesn't know any adjectives other than vulgar curses. I am not fond of this sort of swearing as it retracts from the story and makes the writing feel sloppy.
Overall, I am sorry that I couldn't read further. The premise sounded intriguing and the cover is beautifully haunting but I cannot bring myself to read another page.

This was an interesting novel, I came to it blind with no idea of the contents.
I have to admit that I almost put it down after the first chapter where Faulks introduces us to Hasting, the paedophile serial killer, as he kills and dismembers a child. Suffice to say this is probably not a book for the weak hearted, or most parents.
Nevertheless, I persevered through the rest of the book and other than one or two other horrific scenes, it was mostly readable. Each chapter is told from one of five characters points of view, but I found it seemed to jump around a bit roughly, rather than with smooth segues or the sense that it was an appropriate time to leave that character's point of view.
I also found the Rashda / Family plot line a bit distracting. While I assume it was there to give us background on the Family and the kind of things they do, I don't think it added much to the story (perhaps it's important in a sequel?) and would have rather more time was spent on the main characters. If we did have to spend time with the Family, I'd have preferred to have seen them as they tracked Eve down.
In terms of the plot itself, it was a little strange, with Eve trying to run away from past horrors whilst the other three all tried to find her. It wasn't really a detective / investigation type plot and had more in common with a haunted house horror story type plot, but I'm really not sure how else to describe it.
We're not really given a huge amount of on screen character development. While we see significant changes in several of the characters, most of it just seems to happen off screen, with the character then suddenly realising something has changed.
All up, this was an ok read, but I didn't feel the pay-off was worth the horror and effort it took to get there. While I'll probably keep an eye out for a sequel, it won't be on the top of my to read pile.
If you've got the time, and you like the occult / serial killer horrific fantasy genre, then you may want to give this a read, but I'd strongly advise against it if you're a parent, unless you can cope with reading brutal scenes of child mutilation and murder.
prk.

Summary: First we have Eve. Her life has been hard, very hard. She leaves home to get away from an abusive, alcoholic mother. Eve would rather work two jobs and barely survive than go back to that. Hell. Eve finds herself pregnant and alone. Not only is she having a baby, but it is a special being that is wanted by at least two different immortal groups, who will stop at nothing to get him. Next is police officer, Adley, who is obsessed with find the child serial killer that tortured and savagely murdered his nephew. Adley is willing to end his career and/or lost his life to destroy this threat to society. For him, it is personal. Edric is the serial killer and he is scarier than hell. He really loves his work. Edric needs to hear to pleds and cries of his victims. He taunts Adley. When he suddenly changes his method of operation and starts killing and mutilating pregnant women, Adley is even more determined to find him. Then we have Mercy, a blood thirsty vampire, who recruits Edric. Can you guess how she got her name? Edric is in love with Mercy. Mercy takes orders from a high vamp, that she calls God. The vampires want Eve’s baby. Guess who they want to use to get him for them. The family, are good guys, the ones who keep the balance between good and evil so humans can exist. This group is made up of immortals, a werewolf, vampires, and others, who have lived and fought together for centuries. They want Eve’s baby also, but the want to protect him. They have to protect the unborn child at all cost, even the loss of lives, to maintain the balance. When Eve escapes an attack from Edric and Mercy, she is on the run. She meets Adley and he becomes even more determined to stop Edric and now to protect Eve and her unborned child.
My opinion: I totally loved this book. There is evil, good, scary and love. I was given this book for review and I can’t express how grateful I am. This is not a book I would have chosen at random, but it is one of the most amazing ones that I have read. Kim Faulk’s serial killer is one of the scariest people I have read about. He is cold blooded without remorse. Edric loves his work. He is pure evil. All the characters are well developed and I really want Eve to win and live happily ever after. She is the underdog that just keeps on getting up when life knocks her down. Eve does not know the meaning of quit. Even though she is fragile, when she is fighting for someone she loves she is bad-assed. Adley is the knight in shiny armor to the rescue. He is a big bad cop, that has a hard time showing his feelings, but he is willing to risk everything to stop this killer. This is the first book that I have read by Kim Faulks, but I guarantee it will not be the last. As a matter of fact, I can’t wait to get to her new book, Secrets Room. Great Work Kim.
In “End of Dreams”, the first book of Kim Faulks’ “The Immortal Destiny” series, we are introduced to some incredible characters. Eve, a young woman running from her overprotected past, destined to become a fighter and a mother; Adley, a cop who has been broken by a child serial murderer case that ended up hitting far too close to home; Edric, a monster of a man bent on pain and death who becomes even more of a monster as the story progresses; and The Family, a collection of Immortals fighting to maintain the Balance of the world.
Faulks takes supernatural creatures and introduces them into our modern culture in a very realistic fashion. Vampires do not sparkle. There is no Anita Blake or Buffy waiting around the corner to kick some supernatural butt in a nonchalant manner. Not all beings that have lived for centuries are humble and stoic about the sacrifices they have made, some of them have suffered and are bitter.
Refreshingly, things don’t all just coincidentally fall in to place for our characters either. There is some pushing involved to make things happen, and not all of the things happen when and how they ‘should’. Humans in this story react to suspicious contacts and mysterious beings the way actual humans would, with skepticism and outright terror.
This book does contain violence, both inferred and described. I’m not a huge fan of gore though, and I was able to stomach it. Scenes depicting violence seemed to be mostly necessary as a way to deepen character development rather than as gore-porn filler.
End of Dreams kept me reading (I neglected a few of my responsibilities to finish it up) and now has me waiting for the sequel. The ending was right on the money. It would have been easy for her to give us a taste of Hollywood, but she stuck to her guns and kept it real, well, as real as a work of supernatural fiction can get that is.
Without giving spoilers, this is as much as I can tell you about the book. If you’re a fan of horror, dark fantasy, or supernatural crime thrillers, you should definitely check this out.
I received this book to give an honest review. *May CONTAIN SPOILERS* You know when you start reading the first page of a book and you are like hot damn I just know this book is going to be good. Well this was one of those books. As soon as I read the first page I was all ready engaged into the story and did not want to put it down. You get first introduced to an evil character Edric and let me say what he did was sadistic. Then you move to the next character Eve and you get a piece of who she is. And that is how this whole story starts. You go back and forth between characters for the chapters and the author did a wonderful job weaving the story with each character.
The author brings the supernatural into the mix and it just seems to help the story take off even more. You have the immortals who have a job to do and it all deals with a baby being born. But there are the evil forces at foot who want this baby for their own evil plot. I really enjoyed reading Eve she seemed like a very strong character who would do anything for her child. There is plenty of action and I loved it all!
Now the only reason I am giving this book a 4 wine glass rating and not a solid 5 like I hoped is because there is a part where Eve meets Adley. They are hanging around together and Eve mentions early that she is like thirty-seven weeks pregnant, then later on with Adley she is a week over due. But Adley mentions something about 2 months. I got a bit confused on this piece because I wasn't sure how long her and Adley were together. I know sounds really silly but I felt the author could have elaborated more on how long time has passed with Eve and Adley being together in the car.
A great story and the ending was just perfect for this book as to where you are not in a major cliff hanger. I can not wait to read book two as I hope it has just as much action as this one has.
End of Dreams is a dark story of survival set in a layered world with mortal and immortal characters. The main character, Eve, is a mortal, pregnant woman who is, unbeknownst to her, carrying a child that will play an important role in the war between good and evil. Due to her condition, this character undergoes many trials and tribulations as both sides have opposing stakes in the child's survival. Eve isn't fighting this battle alone, and has a mortal man, Adley, who is haunted by his past, helping and protecting her. Through the novel, a reader is brought to understand the link between Adley's past and Eve's present. A suite of supernatural, immortal creatures play other supporting roles, either in favor of or against Eve. The main villain, a vampire named Edric, is truly sadistic. This story does contain scenes with children, unborn babies, and pregnant women being brutally tortured and murdered.
This story takes place in two different worlds and the author did a wonderful job in creating these worlds and laying out the interactions between the two worlds. I felt there was a good balance of action, suspense, romance, and drama. There was a love story that formed between Adley and Eve, but this wasn't the main focus of the novel, which I can appreciate. For me, in the beginning of the book, it almost read like two different stories and it took a while to understand how the two story lines were linked. The books ends with a cliffhanger and I would definitely be interested in seeing how the story continues.
I can't recommend this book enough. For so many different reasons I absolutely loved it. Be warned the first chapter is brutal. Perhaps not for the faint hearted, but that's one of the reasons I love Kim's style of writing. She doesn't shy away from the real horror that can and does exist. Perhaps without some of the real horror moments, I might not have believed or loved End of Dreams so much. I want to compare Kim's dark writing style to Stephen Kings but I also don't. She has this unique writing style all her own that deserves it's own recognition. Yes, there is a very real darkness to this book, but for me it was balanced by these truly amazing moments of blinding light. This book played like a movie for me. Everything was seen in my head in such vivid detail, wrenching from me, all the major feels. At times the beauty of her sentences had me weeping real tears, it got to me that much. Every single character I embraced and was as real to me as if they were a part of my own family. I felt their pain, lived through the horror and felt their triumphs and love. The ending made me want to dive right into the next book. I eagerly look forward to the continuation of this series. If your not accustomed to dark stories I would encourage you to take a chance. I didn't regret it, it's one of the best books I've read in a while. Congratulations Kim, you have a new fan and follower.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. If I had known that this book isn't really romance, i never would have read it. Now i'm thankful that i didn't know. I might not have read such a good novel . This is an amazing book. It was so vivid and detailed i felt like i was watching a movie. The story is a mix of paranormal, horror, psychothriller, a bit of humor and a bit of romance all rolled into one. The story is riveting, and i was really drawn into the story. The characters were great. They bad guys were very convincing. You can actually feel evil emanating from their characters. The narration is centered on 5 key characters. I love how it switches between them so we can get a glimpse on how the characters think and feel on certain situations. The ending was good and sad. But the twist intrigued me. And left a lot of questions to be answered. A perfect intro to the next book. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the 2nd book of this series.
I really enjoyed reading End of Dreams by Kim Faulks the imagination and detail that went into this story was brilliantly written. There was a lot more blood, guts and glory than I normally read and as a mother and a female there were several times I had to set my feelings aside because of some of the gruesome scenes that were in this story. I should warn you that if you can not deal with rape or children being murdered this is not a book for you. However, if you want something that will keep you on your toes and wondering whats going to happen after each turn then this is def a book for you thriller lovers out there. The ending was such a cliff hanger, I can't wait to get my hands on the next book just to see what happens next. Kim Faulks keeps her readers wanting more and guessing of whats to come. This is the first book I have read written by her and I would love to read more.
Let me start off by saying I hate giving a book less then 3 stars. I literally started this book with no idea what it was about, it was part of a book bundle I purchased. As I started to read, several points of views came in to play. I had a really hard time finishing this, it just couldn't hold my interest as much as I would have liked. The numerous points of view, were what really did it for me, it got to be too much and started getting confusing well reading. Also, you remember that movie "Legion" from a couple of years ago? It seriously, reminded me of that movie, it runs around the same premise. As I was reading it,that is what kept popping up in my mind. If there was a sequel for this book, would I read it? I don't think I would.
