Wow! Yes again! Love it so much! Only three left, as much as I want to see how it will end, I also don't want it to end... But I definitely love this series a lot!

The strong abyssal ones are really fighting. Still team Miria is thriving. I am just thankful Clare is back. :p The end chapter is showing some interesting stuff...

The amounts of monsters in this book is amazing!
World: Stunning art with all the different types of awakened ones. The world building is a bit janky this time around with the logic of Priscilla and Cassandra and the males and the ones just sitting their. A lot of pieces that are a bit too convenient.
Story: A lot of insane monsters this time around but the world and plot logic is a bit of a stretch and overly convenient with the males and then the others coming together and the fight with Rilful and also the other ones outside the city with Priscilla and the Cassandra situation. it’s a lot of moving pieces that somehow all come together magically.
Characters: There are some nice little moments with Raki but that’s about it not a lot of depth here. There is Priscilla and her story but it’s nothing new and expected.
Onward to the next book!

The fighting fights of fightiness continue! But unlike with Bleach, where you felt that the fighting dragged on and on (and on and on and on) for no reason, Claymore battles have a hint of a plot in them and they seem to be leading somewhere.
It might just be the fact that the series is 27 volumes long, but I believe that the fights are leading to a final conclusion.

Yay for more answers! We get a huge hint of how Claire and others were able to half awaken, as well as Priscilla's backstory. I still find the fact that regeneration laws are ignored without any explanation. Like how is Riful back, and why dont others come back???

RIFUL IS ALIVE? I never knew I would be as hyped for a matchup as I was the moment I realized we were getting Riful vs Priscilla. But like... An actual even fight Riful vs Priscilla. Not the one sided curb stomp from a couple of volumes ago.

Claymore is a manga about Yoma who pretend to be human in order to kill and eat the humans. The Claymore are the hybrid of the two stronger faster but still human with the ability to slay the Yoma which they do for a price. They travel from village to village slaying Yoma with nothing but the sword on their back using the Yoma abilities but slowly turning into a monster that they hunt. When the time comes a Claymore will send a black card to another claymore to be slain before the Yoma takes over and so they die as a human.
In the 24th volume we have learned about the truth of the yoma and of the betrayal of the organization but they haven’t really had a chance to think about it. Heading off into battle dressed as the warriors they are to fight Cassandra. However to the awakened beings watching to see how things are going to turn out it’s clear that they need all the help that they can get against her. While the Awakened beings jump in to stop the abyssal she proves that she may just be too powerful for even all of them. Priscilla has her own hands full fighting with an equally matched being. How will it turn out?
I like Clare she’s a sword carrying slayer who isn’t afraid to die charging in risking her life. She's grown a lot in the last several volumes leading up to the battle in the north. After faking her death along with her fellow claymore's she's returned after seven years to battle the Organization. While she may not be the strongest she's determined and unwilling to give up. She's one of those underdog characters you can't help liking. We've seen a little of Raki having grown up into a man who fights yoma he’s been captured by the organization. Clare and Priscilla have been trapped in a ball of flesh locking them both away from the others.
I’ve seen all of the episodes on Netflix a few years ago actually binge watched them over a long weekend. While it’s been a while I don’t think the anime has gone this far in the series. I don’t remember the girls taking on the organization which is where the story has turned. It’s interesting learning that the organization which has been creating claymores for a long time may not be the good guys after all. I love the concept for the Claymore the hybrids created using parts from the monsters that they have been created to fight against the Yoma that they created. The art is great it gives me just enough to create the story in my head as I read each detailed page. This is only my 2nd manga so I don’t have a lot to base on but I’m super addicted to them. They are perfect for when I have some downtime or when I feel like reading back to back. I already know that the ending is close as I’m about halfway done. I’m anxious to see how it’s all going to play out.

We’re getting really close to the end of the series now, and I’m feeling very torn about it. I’m excited because I obviously want to keep going and see everything come together, but I’m also a little sad because I really don’t want Claymore to end. I always get that feeling when I get close to the end of a series I love, and Claymore is definitely no exception. The last volume had so much information being thrown at us, so I really enjoyed getting back to the fighting here. I love the action in this series, and this volume gave me plenty of it. The enemies already felt ridiculously strong before, but now things are getting completely insane. And Miria? Still so darn cool! I swear, I could read an entire volume of her just figuring things out and I’d be happy.
I also really like how this volume continues to blur the line between enemies and allies. There are characters who obviously don’t suddenly become friends, but they have to work together because the threat in front of them is bigger than their own conflict. I actually love that kind of situation because everyone knows the alliance is temporary. They can fight on the same side right now while still knowing they may have to turn on each other later. Clare being back in the middle of everything was another highlight for me, and I really enjoyed seeing her, Miria, Deneve, Helen, and the others dealing with enemies they can’t just overpower. There’s also more information about Priscilla and her past, which I appreciated. It gives me more to think about with her character without making me feel like I’m supposed to excuse everything she’s done.
My biggest problem with this volume is that some parts are genuinely confusing. I remember getting lost in certain scenes the first time I read this, and even this time, knowing exactly what was happening, I still had a moment where I had to stop and remember how everything fit together. There are just so many characters, fights, transformations, and things happening at once that it can be a lot to keep track of. Still, I had such a good time reading this volume again. It has that feeling of everything finally coming together, and I love seeing the series move into its final stretch. I’m excited to keep going, but I’m also going to be a little sad with every volume I finish from here.

Finally finished it oh my I still can't believe it's all over all that fighting,character development,twist,action and adventure wow! Overall I'm happy,nice ending,really cool! I hope they'd follow up the anime.

Today's post is on Claymore volume 24: Army of the Underworld by Norihiro Yagi. It is the twentieth-four the long running Claymore series, you need to have read the first twenty-three volumes to understand the story. It is 193 pages long and is published by Shonen Jump Advanced. The cover has Clare cutting through a Yoma on it looking cool. The intended reader is someone who likes dark plots, high action, and strong female characters. There is mild foul language, no sexuality, and lots of violence in this book. The story is told from third person close of the main character. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the book- Priscilla, whose monstrous savagery was reawakened in the previous battle, is bent on absorbing the power of those who feel in her wake and destroying the rebel Claymores. Raki and several former top warriors band together with a defensive plan, but even their skills may be no match against Priscilla's poisoned wrath. Meanwhile, the terrifying Yoma-based creature coalescing outside of the Holy City of Rabona may seek to defeat Priscilla... but it may also be seeking to defeat the rebel warriors!
Review- We get to see how powerful Priscilla's true form is as she destroys four out of the seven powerful Awakened Ones that were watching her fight and absorb her power back from the resurrected warriors. The Claymores and Awakened Ones are going to try and work together to stop Priscilla but it is an uneasy alliance. Add in Clare's over-powering rage at being so close to Priscilla and everyone has their hands full. As this series is winding down, we are getting less character growth and longer action scenes as this is an action manga; not a complaint more of a comment. The volume ends with a powerful, almost abyssally powerful, Awakened One joining the fight. Only three volumes left to bring it all together.
I give this volume a Five out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

As has become my common issues with the series, this continues all of my criticisms; characters look the same and it is very difficult to tell them apart; the action is not that interesting unless you are really into kaiju-style combat; the dialogue is very bland and boring and it irks me that it has only been within the last stretch of the series that we finally get some explanation as to what the yoma are and how they operate. At least we have moved past talking about power levels.... but we have moved into characters explaining for page upon page how powers work or what a character is doing in a fight. I feel as though the action should speak for itself. We shouldn't need Same-Face Character #7 telling us what the giant monster is doing and what everyone is doing to combat it. Maybe it's just a manga-convention, but this is some of the worst telling-not-showing I have seen.
If not for the fact that I bought the entire series on the false pretense of it being amazing, I would've checked out about a quarter of the way through the series. Sunk-cost is the only thing making me finish it.

You know, for a series with so action-packed, I'm surprised I'm finding it so... boring? I guess this just goes to show that in all types of media (books, manga, film) it doesn't matter how good the action sequences are; if there is nothing like a plot or decent characters holding it together, who is going to read it? Some of the fight scenes where it's a 'big bad' versus another 'big bad' are somewhat reminiscent of the old Godzilla movies, but instead with no dynamism or fun energy to them. Speaking of, those newer kaiju movie remakes (eg. Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla Versus Kong and Kong: Skull Island) which I mostly found to be laughable escapism have more to their characters than this series does (and let's be honest, the character work in those films are... questionable at best). This wasn't fun to read, and I was more confused than I've ever been reading this series so far.

Scattered thoughts:
24 volumes in and this series still has me doing frequent double takes out of confusion with its abrupt cuts to different locations and scenes and occasionally giving flashbacks with barely any visual/significant contextual indicators.
Also wish we were getting more characterization of Clare. I appreciate when main characters take a step back to develop supporting cast and drum up the stakes but with Clare back it’s time for her to DO something.
I do also really wish this series had a character glossary in the front due to its massive cast and super complex factional dynamics. It’s consistently funny to me trying to memorize the various warrior ladies by their distinct hairstyles.
This was a good volume overall but it pushed some weak spots that have annoyed me my entire time with this series to the forefront. Very much looking forward to seeing how this fierce epic ends though

It looks like this final battle is the longest one yet. Nothing is certain so far, only that the author still manages somehow to keep me interested.

3.5/5 Now we’re back to long drawn out fights. Not a whole lot happens just the main cast of Claymores holding back the Abyssal One heading toward Priscilla. Meanwhile Priscilla is battling some strange amalgamation of Riful and Dauf.
Our two remaining Organization members watch from the hill blabbing about their power stemming from their hatred but it all seams unnecessary.
The best part of the volume is a little backstory chapter on Priscilla.

Waited for the last to write a review because this series just keeps on flowing
A captivating story and very emotional only keeps you regretting about Teresa's death and wishing for her to be there with Clare

Some of the mechanics are lost on me.
It's getting to the point where the "power levels" keep having to get one upped by each subsequent villain. This is the way of shonen- I know - but where at the beginning explanations were simple and elegant it just seems to me to.become increasingly more convoluted.

Some cool monster designs and a few decent moments. But this volume was mostly a giant battle with very little story added to the overall plot. There didn't really feel like their was any jeopardy in this battle, either. They were never going to kill off a main character, not this close to the final battle!

So now an AWAKENED BEING is confirming that awakenings change your mind completely from that of a human. Why the fuck are there docile awakened beings here? Why are they going along with what Miria plans?

No pues valió todo, le salió otro power up a Priscilla, ahora puede ¿fusionarse?, ¿tomar control?, ¿comerse a las otras Claymore? Algo así. Luego reapareció Riful, de quien yo no esperaba nada y ahora viene igual con power up. Nombre, se nota que ya viene el final.
