Alice glanced at the property brochure resting on her lap and let out a sigh. She was on her way to Cedar Grove which, according to the brochure set out before her, was the answer to her prayers. The estate agent had promised that this was the one. The most perfect house, with everything she had asked for.She smiled as she took in the sight of the pretty, quirky semi at the end of the road with its royal blue shutters and coordinating front door. There was something about this house that moved her. Something was drawing her to it.So why was it that their world started to crumble around them bit by bit, as though they had been hit by a demolition project, destroying everything they held dear, especially one another?Who was doing this to them and why had her neighbour, Sally, disappeared along with the rest of the neighbourhood? There was no one left. The vision, as described on the day of the viewing had vanished, fallen off the face of the earth and she was deemed psychotic. Was she losing her mind? She didn’t think so...

4.5! Just Alice looking for a home for her and her hubby (Will) but then .. it’s not what she thought with house 101! I read this so fast and gasped a few times. You will not know where it is going until you are there!

I'm a HUGE Tracy Martin-Summers fan having loved all her other books.
101 is quite possibly my favourite book of 2023. I flew through it within 24 hours, just couldn't put it down.
101 is clever, each page is filled with drama and had me drawn in from page 1.
When Tracy releases a new book I know I'm on to a winner and this did not disappoint. If you do nothing else grab a copy of this book!!

101 is a psychological thriller that has the supernatural skilfully interwoven throughout. I have read this authors other books and so enjoy them. Upon being offered an ARC of the book, I almost snatched Tracy Martin-Summers' hand-off!
Alice and Will are looking for their forever home, but Alice had a vision that means the house has to fit an awful lot of her criteria! Will and even the estate agent have got to the point that they leave Alice to the viewings. Then she finds 'the one'. The house she just falls in love with. They go ahead and buy it, without Will ever seeing it.
Six months later, they move into their new home, but to Alice's total confusion, nothing is the same. The house is not pristine as when she viewed it six months earlier, even the neighbours aren't there! Is Alice taking a backwards step with her mental health again? Or is something more sinister happening? As everything begins to unravel for the couple, it begjns to look like their forever home and their relationship are crumbling around them.
Wow! I won't say much about the plot, I really dont want to spoil it for anyone. All I can say is...well, I never thought that would happen!! Tracy Martin-Summers writes this story so, so well. I had no idea what was happening. Wasn't sure if Alice was going mad or whatever. I felt for Alice as soon as it became clear what had happened in the past. I could empathise with Will, too. I would have been as confused and worried as he was, as his wife's mental health started to decline.
The way the story unfolds had me scartching my head, attempting to rationalise everything. The only trouble was, I couldn't. I was guessing so wildly all the way. That's the sign of a great book. Especially as the final few chapters fly by, too!
101 is such an atmospheric and tense read. I was turning pages with no idea of what was going on, and it made me so curious to get to the truth. The more things happened, the tenser I became, and the pages just flew by. I didn't want to put it down, I was that invested. I looked forward to picking up the book again to rejoin Alice and Will.
I can only say that the way the author pulls every thread together is so clever. As everything starts to drop into place around Alice and Will and I thought this was it. Tracy Martin-Summers delivers a stunning blow with the conclusion! I never expected the final twist, and it left me with my jaw almost on the floor. So well done! I knew this author wrote twisty tales, but with 101, she beats them all!

Crikey, where to even begin with this.
Alice has been looking for the perfect house, to the point where her husband and even the estate agent have given up accompanying her.
Eventually she finds the one, she takes a photo, and chats to the neighbours, Sally and the little girl Daisy.
However when they move in 6 months later, things aren't quite right. Everything seems to have worn down a lot in the small time period, and what of Sally and Daisy. Apparently they don't live next door and never did.
Will becomes increasingly concerned about his wife's behaviour, especially as she was sectioned a while ago, following her best friends death.
I found it hard at all points to know what to believe which is massive credit to the author. You are led along a path and then something happens that turns all of that on its head. My opinion changed so many times throughout.
I really liked Alice and felt sorry for her throughout. I liked Will to begin with then thought he was an arse, then felt sorry for him.
Eventually Alice is committed to Rising Sun, but is all there as it seems to be, and who is Claire?
I figured out a couple of the clues but only a page or so before the characters did.
A book that kept me gripped from the first page to the last. I've hardly put it down all day so I could find out what happened.

Well, this was a bit of me!! I already love this authors work, if you haven’t read the ‘Gordon Square’ Triology, have a word with yourself and then go and buy the books.
This is such an eerie book, the twists are fantastic, I didn’t see any of them coming, this is easily a one sitting read.
The characters are all fantastic, from overbearing mothers, past and present colliding to garden ‘visitors’, this has it all.

The novel follows Alice, who is looking for her perfect house. Eventually she finds one, takes a photo and chats to the neighbours.
When Alice and her husband Will move in to the house months later, everything seems run down and not like when she first viewed the house. Also her neighbour that she spoke to and her daughter never did live there.
Her husband becomes worried about her behaviour, especially as she has had mental health problems after her friends death.
I absolutely enjoyed this thriller novel and Tracy's writing is brilliant and the novel had soo many twists and turns, I kept guessing until the end. The novel had a brilliant cast of characters. I highly recommend it.

Will discovers a box of photos but what do they uncover?
Really enjoyed this book and I felt like every page had a real edge to it. I was constantly left wondering what was going to happen next. The book has so many twists which really do keep you guessing. I found the characters really intriguing especially Sally and her daughter, Claire and Alice. I loved the ending and was one I did not expect.

The tension kept building and my perspective of the truth was on a constant spin cycle!
I felt completely drawn into the story and I just wanted to know more. Figuring out the truth was like trying to trap sand, each time I'd figured a bit out, another bit slipped in and pushed the last bit out.
It took me a little bit to get a feel on Alice, but once I did, I was with her the whole way - from the beginning I just didn't like Will. The manner in which he approached things, even if it was for the best, was just plain wrong.
I felt this was building and building and then... the end just left me with so many unanswered questions. I couldn't believe that was it?
Overall, I enjoyed the style of writing and Tracy sure knows how to add tension and mystery to a story.

When Alice first saw 101 Cedar Grove she fell in love. Everything about the property was perfect. From the blue shutters, blue front door, picket fence, little front garden and friendly next door neighbour. For Alice she had found her and her husband Will’s forever home. Six months later, the purchase of the property has gone through and Alice returns to 101 Cedar Avenue with Will, but it’s not the same house as she remembers it. It’s dated and no one remembers the next door neighbour she met. What secrets is 101 hiding?
I have really enjoyed reading the author’s other series The Gordon Square Trilogy and so couldn’t wait to read this book. The storyline was brilliant, intense, misleading and messed with my head. In that sense I could totally relate to the characters and how they were feeling i.e. confused, unclear what was happening.
This was a very cleverly woven story and it was one that every few chapters I would stop reading to try and absorb what was going on, where the characters were, what they were seeing and trying to link what I’d read into other parts of the story. There were some moments that totally freaked me out and when I thought I knew the direction the story was going there would be a plot twist and it would completely throw me off track. The story had so many layers to it. When you peeled one layer away and thought you were at the heart of the story another layer would appear which added to the suspense.
The essence of the story is whether Alice is imagining what has happened before buying the house and the events that subsequently follow or did happen but no one seems to believe her. Unfortunately, Alice’s account is tainted by the fact that she was previously diagnosed with a mental health condition. This is a big factor that dominates the story as Will doesn't seem to believe what Alice is saying is true and that she is having another mental health episode. That is until new information comes to light and Will starts to realise that maybe Alice is telling the truth. Once this dawns on Will he and Alice find themselves embroiled in a game where they are the puppets to an unknown puppeteer.
The ending shocked me and I was utterly flabbergasted because it's an ending I never would have imagined. I still have so many questions about that ending and what happened next.

101 was definitely an interesting read and one that is hard to review without spoilers but I will try! Alice has been looking for the perfect house for her and Will (her husband) to start their family in properly and make a fresh start. That’s when she saw 101 on Cedar Grove. She knew it was the one. Something drew her too it. But a few months later when they move in something is wrong. The house isn’t like the one Alice visited and why is everything starting to spiral out of control? Once having spent a time in care after breaking down her husband begins to wonder if this is another psychotic episode but Alice doesn’t think it is, will she be able to prove her sanity and find out what is happening behind the doors of 101? Or will she find herself locked up again, turned on by the people she trusts the most?
Firstly I want to say that I utterly disliked Will, even at the end when I potentially should have felt sorry for him it was hard to. While he may have logically had reasons to act the way he did he honestly was infuriating. Now I got that out of my system! The book itself kept me hooked and engaged. I did guess one twist but the rest threw me! The writing was easy to follow and engage with but also fast paced and kept you wanting more. Alice was an interesting protagonist and I really felt for her throughout the novel. It seemed every turn she was against somebody or something that should be supporting her.
The characters are all well developed and fleshed out. They are also incredibly believable – evidenced by the strong dislike I have for Will and empathy for Alice. The atmosphere created by the writing and setting is both eerie and unsettling. The way Martin-Summers manages to seemingly make several different storylines eventually merge into one and tie all the pieces together was brilliant. If you enjoy a good psychological thriller this one is definitely for you. I can’t say much more without spoilers but you will not be disappointed.

This was a very quick read, which I devoured well into the night. I was tired by the end, so I read it again in the daytime. And I needed to.
Alice has viewed 100 properties, but none came up to scratch. Then the brochure for 101 Cedar Grove comes into her possession and she decides to view it alone. Neither her husband Will, nor the estate agent, are willing to go with her, as both are fed up with the number of houses she has rejected. But this one is different. 101? Is it an omen and what is drawing her to it?
When she arrives, the house is picture-perfect, the flowers in the front garden, the water feature, the blue front door and matching shutters. This is the one, she knows it. Inside is just us lovely, if very old-fashioned, and the neighbours Sally and her three-year-old daughter Daisy are going to become her best friends.
Six months later, she and Will are moving in – he never actually viewed it himself – but the place seems to have deteriorated as if it had been empty for years. And none of the neighbours remember Sally and Daisy, or Sally’s husband Bill, a door-to-door salesman. That for me was the first trigger as I don’t think door-to-door salesmen exist nowadays, other than Nottingham knockers.
Will is worried about Alice, who had a period of depression in the past, following her best friend’s death, and ended up spending six months in a rehabilitation unit called Chapters. She hated it and dreads being sent back. Yet she knows what she saw, only no-one believes her. But how is any of it possible? Is she hallucinating or having a lucid dream? Will finds her a therapist, against her wishes, but she agrees to see her.
So who is lying? Is Alice psychotic or psychic? Or is she the only sane one? I had no idea and I’m not sure I do now. A very clever and intriguing story with plenty of twists to keep you guessing.

Wow! This was a truly unexpected amazing read!
I've not read any books by this author before and I also didn't read the blurb of this one until after I'd received the book, just before I started to read.
From the front cover, I expected a nice little family drama or even a foreign house buy where we discover the delights of a little village somewhere in Europe.
Oh boy, was I totally wrong!
This had me absolutely immersed from the prologue and I literally could not put this down at all!
After house hunting for some time, Alice's estate agent promises that this is the one and they were right!
The perfect house which suited them completely - quirky, cute and Alice totally felt it was drawing her in.
Once they'd made it home, strange events and disappearing neighbours suggested something much more sinister was afoot, but who was doing this to them and was Alice just going mad?
This was totally creepy and had me on edge the whole time. I had no clue what was going on and couldn't decide whether this was your average psychological thriller or something verging on more horror or paranormal.
I really felt for Alice as she'd really put all her hopes on the most beautiful of new homes and new starts in the area and then to be made to feel like she's going crazy, was just so cruel.
I honestly had no idea clue what to think, but every time I thought I had the storyline and outcome sussed, the tension ramped up and there'd be twists and turns that had me reeling again! I certainly didn't see the ending coming at all!
I loved this so much! Definitely up there in my favourite genre and I loved the writing style so much, I need to hunt out more books by this author and get them on my wishlist asap.

This is my favourite genre and 101 did not let me down. This story is about Alice who has found a new house in Cedar Garden which is her dream come true but it does not go as perfectly as she thought it would. This is my favourite genre and 101 did not let me down. There were some twists near the end that I didn't even guess. I think my favourite part of the book is the end because I had no clue what was going to happen, like I said earlier I was completely gobsmacked and shocked by what happened but It is a great ending. While I was reading 101 I was trying to work out what was happening with Alice and I was wrong. 101 is a page-turner and you will not be able to put it down, it hooks you in straight away. I Love Tracy Martin's writing style it is fantastic. cant wait to read more. Strongly recommend. 5 stars would give 10 stars if I could.

This really intrigued me from the start with Alice finally finding the house of her dreams, only for her world to begin falling down around her when she and her husband Will move in. And when the woman she met when she first viewed the house disappears, she begins to feel as though she’s losing her mind when nobody, not even Will believes her. It certainly doesn’t help that she had previously been sectioned due to a tragic incident from her past. This book had me gripped as just when I thought I was beginning to figure things out, the author kept throwing curve balls, sending me in other directions. I really felt for Alice and although Will does a really stupid thing, I did feel sorry for him. There were plenty of twists which kept me on tenterhooks and I struggled to put this book down.
101 is a brilliantly written book by Tracy and is going straight on my list of one of the best books I’ve read this year.

My Thoughts: now when I tell you I went into this book completely blind, I am not kidding I did the thing we’re all not supposed to do and judged the book by it’s cover.. I was expecting a nice soppy romance and what I got was an utterly gripping psychological thriller 🤣
It’s very clear when Alice and her husband turn up to the house they’ve just bought it is not the same one that Alice viewed mere months ago, everything has changed including the neighbours.
There was something about Tracy’s writing style that had me completely captivated despite the story being eerie, I found myself unable to put it down because I just constantly felt compelled to keep reading.
There were many parts that gave me goosebumps and sent shivers down my spine I love it when you get so engrossed in a book that you have actual physical reactions!
Definitely one to be added to your TBR!

Really enjoyed this one. It had me gripped from the beginning. I had been looking forward to reading this book after reading the authors previous books and enjoying them.
I loved Alice and I really felt for her, especially when no one was believing her and she was doubting herself. Will I didn’t like so much. I didn’t agree with a lot of his actions and he really frustrated me at times.
The book kept me guessing and wanting more. I didn’t figure out what was going to happen that one totally got me!
I love the way the author sets the scene it was creepy and you just don’t know who to trust. I was wary of pretty much everyone.
If you like a fast paced psychological thriller definitely pick this one up.

This is the first book I've read by this author, but it certainly won't be the last. I absolutely flew through it!
The storyline was addictive, I just couldn't stop reading! I thought it was very clever, with just the right amount of creepiness. It was full of drama and had plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing until the end.
I found all of the characters really intriguing, but If I had to choose a favourite I think it would be Daisy.
This book was right up my street and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoys a good thiller!

This was the book that lost me a night's sleep - I started it when I couldn't sleep and got myself so wrapped up in Alice's story I couldn't put it down - absolutely brilliant!
You're thrown straight into the action with Alice viewing 101 and 'meeting' the neighbours, but is all as it seems because when they return to their new home the place is in a high state of delapidation and disrepair.
The characters were brilliant, the story one of my favourite thrillers I've read this year and the touch to the paranormal was the icing on the cake for me.
Absolutely loved it, would highly recommend!

This was a great read and I was certainly pulled in by the blurb. I liked how the story flowed through and it was excellently written. I really felt for Alice and was willing for her to not be seen as psychotic (no spoilers here though as to if this happens!) I spent ages trying to work out how all the “creepy” things were happening and really enjoyed watching it all unravel. I would recommend this to all who love a gripping read which you can’t put down!

don't know where to start with this one. The twists were phenomenal. But I also found it really frustrating on Alices' part. Bless her. I found I was questioning a lot of things, which I can only imagine was a fraction of what Alice was feeling.
Fantastic read, unbelievably gripping and incredibly hard to put down.

Alice had been searching for the house of her dreams for over six months. Will and the estate agent had left her to it so she was now looking at houses on her own. She didn’t mind, she usually had the brochure as well. The house she was going to see today she had a good feeling about, it was her one hundred and one search and the house number was 101, it was an omen. It appeared to be a quiet area with no heavy goods lorries and when she got to the house, she was overjoyed. It had blue window shutters and a blue door to match. The inside needed updating but nothing they couldn’t handle between them and it could be quite fun working together on the house.
When they moved in six months later, the dream was broken for Alice. The garden was overrun with weeds, the gate was hanging on by one hinge and the bottom windows were bordered up. The blue shutters needed painting too. Will persuaded Alice it was all cosmetic stuff and easily fixed, that it was six months since she had seen the home and it had been summer so with winter the shine has been taken off a bit.
The next door neighbour was a lady called Sarah not Sally and they had lived there a few years so it wasn’t like they had just moved in. Just what was going on, where were Sally and Daisy? Had she just imagined them on her previous visit? Then one morning, Will comes down to find her outside, wearing a full length gold glittery evening dress and Alice said she had been to Iris’s and Harry’s diamond wedding party, she went on their behalf as they had invited most of the neighbourhood. When she saw his face, she asked what was wrong? He said they didn’t know anyone by those names. She looked downcast and said she would get changed. Will said he had been thinking about private consultants with her dreaming, night terrors and trances, Alice tried to put up a fight but knew he was right. He introduced her to Clare Frances, who promised that she wasn’t affiliated to rehabilitation homes or anything like that. They did the introductory trial session where she learnt some of Alice’s history but couldn’t give a diagnosis and told Alice more sessions might help.
What was wrong with Alice? Why couldn’t she get a diagnosis?
This was a really intriguing read and it had me hooked right from the start. I read the book in one sitting as I enjoyed it so much and wanted to know the outcome. The plot was interesting and quite a challenge, as it must have taken some research to be able to write this book so quite time consuming before the author got started. I enjoyed the storyline which was an interesting and not one I can remember reading before.

This was a very addictive read even though half the time I didn’t have a clue what was going on! Alice and Will have been looking for a house, in fact they, or rather just Alice, are about to have their 101st viewing. Both Will and the estate agent have given up going with her as nothing ‘feels right’ to her. But this time as she approaches 101 Cedar Grove it feels right and after looking inside and meeting the neighbours Sally and her 3 year old daughter Daisy she know this is the house. It’s at this point that what seemed like a straightforward psychological thriller became something else with hints to the paranormal or something more sinister.
Briefly, as they arrive at the property 6 months later Alice is shocked to see the neglected state although Will loves it and is full of plans for refurbishing and renovating the house. Then Alice finds that Sally and Daisy don’t live next door and none of the other property owners Sally told her about exist. Will is convinced that Alice is having a breakdown as she had previously been sectioned for 6 months after the death of her best friend. He eventually persuades her to see a psychiatrist.
This is a very cleverly constructed read where I just didn’t know who to trust, who was real and who wasn’t and was Alice psychotic or clairvoyant? The characters in the book are well fleshed I moved between liking and not liking both Alice and Max, Alice’s mother was the most annoying and overbearing person ever but my favourite character, albeit a bit player, was Daisy. A very good read

I throughly enjoyed this rollercoaster ride of 101 by Tracy Martin-Summer. This story carefully reflects on mental health.
We all know it’s difficult finding the right location to live.
Will, Alice’s husband is willing to let Alice view the 101 property Cedar Grove, on her own.
When Interior designer Alice goes to view Cedar Grove, the description sounded the perfect house in a perfect location.
Alice is offered no history on the property by her estate agent. She chats to the friendly neighbours, Sally, and her husband and their daughter Daisy, finding out about the previous owners.
Six months later when they move into what was an immaculate house, when Alice viewed it, now it has decayed.
Previously Alice suffered a mental breakdown after the death of her best friend. So Cedar Grove should have been a new start for Alice and Will.
With problems settling into their new home a Psychological therapist is sent to their home. There is no Sally or her husband and Daisy living in the neighbourhood.
Will sends Alice to a voluntary centre for her own safety while he is at work. The outcome of Alice staying at the voluntary centre with her psychotic episodes there is not good news for Will.

Wow! I could not put this book down it was absolutely compelling. Alice & Will appear to be an ordinary young couple who are keen to get on the property market. When we meet them they have been looking for some time and Alice is clearly quite specific about what she wants in her house. As such Will has given up viewing properties with her and let’s her get on with it. Alice falls in love with a beautiful two bed semi with blue shutters - number 101 - also the 101st property she has viewed!
6 months later when in the day of the move Alice is devastated as the house is in tatters and not the property she remembers. Alice had met the neighbours previously but now there seems to be no sign of anyone she knows and her already fragile mind starts falling apart.
The road that Alice & Will then travel is believably unbelievable and you really need to find out what has happened. I thought air was beginning to unravel the mystery but the final twist at the end took me completely by surprise and yet made a huge amount of sense!
I shall definitely be seeking out more of Tracy’s books to read.

Just WOW! This is one of the most intriguing books I have read in a while.
It starts with Alice looking for a family home to share with her husband Will, she is smitten with house 101 but all is not as it seems, and their life starts to unravel.
I had absolutely no idea where this book was heading, it was full of twist and turns, really gripping and just draws you in as you cannot wait to find out what is happening, I honestly did not want to put it down, I was totally immersed in the story. It is, a one more chapter type of book and before you know it an hour or two has passed!!
A well written book that weaves a wonderful story, fabulous characters, full of intrigue, suspense and takes you on a rollercoaster of a read.
Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed.

This story of Alice's search for her dream home and all that happens afterwards is a real page turner that keeps your interest and intrigue throughout. It leaves you constantly wondering and guessing what is going on, who might be involved and where it will all lead. I really enjoyed the premise of the book and the writing style. What is causing all the strange goings on at 101?? Is it Alice's own mind, something sinister or someone else?? No spoilers here but I can definitely recommend this enjoyable read.
