Still enjoying this series. Picked this up right after finishing book 1, and am going on to book 3 now. I struggle a little with the ratings (4.5 I guess) because 4 stars is "I really liked it" (true) and 5 stars "it is AMAZING" ... I don't have many books that I feel are absolutely AMAZING. But to be fair, this had me hooked more than the majority of my 4 star reads.
This picked up where the first book left off, but this felt like a very different story. Book 1 introduced the reader to the characters and the setting, and while there were paranormal parts (the shifting mansion, the non-aging/scattering of the Akori, the marks) ... it was still pretty "normal, contemporary Earth" for both the people and the places. Here, we're following just four of the former characters, and they are in a new place, Greystone. Technically still Earth, but a different plane, and it might as well be another world.
I wasn't sure I'd like the new direction ... but I did. It kept my interest and I was never quite sure where it was going. The Ravensbog "battles" were a little weird, and then there's the love triangle which was hinted at in book 1, but didn't really come into play. And technically, it's not as much of a triangle as it is a complete switch-a-roo. I can still picture readers being "team Tanner" or "team Gage" ...
Book 1 was a free Kindle download, and I was able to snag book 2 for free as my March "borrowed book" as a Prime perk (also in Kindle Unlimited)... so I was required to read this only on my Kindle, but I still got through it quickly!
Very much like book 1, this does have a cliff-hanger ending. Book 3 is still part of Kindle Unlimited (and Kindle Lending Library Prime perk) ... I would not be able to borrow again until April still weeks away). I debated waiting vs buying (just $2.99, which isn't bad at all) but then figured Hubs has a separate prime account, and a separate Kindle ... so I'm using those to continue on immediately. Seriously, I've never had a problem before because it usually takes me a while to get through a book on my Kindle (as I also have a book on my phone and I generally turn to it more often).

The ENTIRE time I was reading this book I was petrified it was going to end. I mean, I knew it would have to happen eventually, I just knew I wouldn't be ready when it did.
This book pretty much picks up right after the previous book (Dissever). There's a small gap, but only because the main character, Addy, is unconscious. Once she wakes up, the story is pretty much non-stop action: physically, emotionally, and mentally. A fair amount of this book takes place in Greystone, the Akori's natural homeland. Because the setting is so radically different, you not only get to learn Akori history and political structure, there's an entire host of characters! Plus, because Akori are immortal, some of the characters are related to characters in Tremain (this had both good and bad points for me).
There's some plot elements that took me by surprise towards the end of the book. If I hadn't been so caught up in the story, I would have realized the author had dropped hints earlier on. This didn't bother me much, as the story was just that good - I let it unfold. I'm sure if I re-read the book (which I will at some point since it's just that good!), there will be even more clues that I missed.
As for the characters:
Addy - I still like this girl. She's still pretty sassy but she's learned a lot. She thinks well on her feet and is adjusting as well as she can, given the crazy circumstances.
Tanner - this guy. I just dunno. I really liked him in Dissever, but now I'm not so sure. He's just a bit too mysterious and too powerful. Plus he's got secrets! Big no-no for me...
Jax - man oh man, I don't know what to think about this guy. He is just so mysterious. Good thing Addy thinks of him as a brother because I remember him being hot. Anyhow, he is apparently able to do so many unexplained things and is entirely too quiet and harsh. Then he shows this sweet side and I'm torn!
Gage - I wanted MOOOOORE Gage! I still think he's a stand up guy. He's finally doing things for himself, instead of following orders blindly. Is it too late? I freaking hope not! Actually, I take that back - I want him for myself!
Overall, I found this book to be much longer than I thought/expected it to be (YAY). Pacing starts of slow but picks up throughout the book. Even though things take time, it's a natural progression and totally makes sense in context of the story. There's still a BIG, big question mark on the unnamed (duh) villain, so I'm interested to see how this plays out.
Magic. Romance. Mystery. Revenge. Righting past wrongs. Must read the next book!

I have to say, I think I actually liked this one better than the first book in the series, which I happened to like a lot. You learn a lot about the Akori and where they came from, as well as Tanner's backstory. There are a few new characters that I loved reading about-Leeli and MoMo in particular.
In this installment, Addy, Tanner, Jax, and Juliette are transported to Greystone. Apparently this is another layer of the Earth and where the Akori originated. Addy and Tanner become sick when they arrive and the next thing we know, Addy is waking up in a Palace. Addy and Tanner *spoiler alert* have become the Shepherdess and Shepherd. Addy has been sleeping and developing her powers. Tanner is still sleeping and developing his abilities when Addy wakes up. Leeli and MoMo are there to take care of them. Addy soon learns from Juliette that Jax is in Ravensbog, which is where the Akori who aren't part of the elite live. Addy goes to get him and finds him in a fighting match called the Brutal Ball. It isn't a normal fighting match, however. The Akori use their powers in the fight. Addy becomes his partner, which is unheard of because as Shepherdess, she is part of the elite, and the elite don't go to Ravensbog, much less participate in the Brutal Ball. Of course, Jax and Addy win, and Addy forces Jax to come back with her to the palace. While in Greystone, Addy learns more about her people and begins to care for them and wants to stay. However, Tanner and Addy have to go back to Tremain. Only they can leave because the gateway is broken. They take the broken pieces of the gate back with them and decide to fix the gate so that Akori and come and go. When they get back, things become intense. Addy has to confront Gage because she now has feelings for Tanner. Tanner and Addy are also now the new leaders of the Akori. And of course, there's the matter of fixing the gate back to Greystone. *End of spoilers*
This book was really good I was interested the whole time I was reading it. I will go ahead and say that there is a cliffhanger at the end. I am very anxious to read the next book in this series. I definitely recommend this book.

Tanner and Addy have inherited powers in this book and because of this feat I'd say book two is way better than one.. ;) The Romance is still ongoing.. although was hoping more from Gage.. Was glad to see Addy get more guidance as she had a heck of a time...I'm not much into giving out to much details but its a good series so far ;)) Cliffhanger again but knew that was coming..lol

On my gosh... What just happened? No freaking way, he didn't, but he did...I want to kill him, imagine how Addy feels. Well as you can see, this series draws you in,excellent so far. Even if I am angry about the ending.

SPOILER ALERT - IF YOU HAVE NOT YET READ BOOK ONE OF THIS SERIES DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER!!!
When we last saw Addy and Tanner, they had just finished a ritual with Eva and Andrew, as well as Addy's brother Jax and his "sister" Juliette, to break the Overseer's Stone once and for all. The ritual kills Eva and Andrew as they knew it would, but what no one expected was that Addy, Tanner, Jax, and Juliette have been sent back to Greystone. And right as they are being sent back Addy sees Gage come back from being Scattered, since Scattering no longer exists due to the release of the powers from the Overseer's Stone. But before she can even say a word to him she is ripped away to Greystone. A place no one can follow them to...
Greystone is where the Akori come from, and those who were in Tremain, a different layer of Earth than Greystone, became permanently separated from those who were in Greystone at the time of the creation of the Overseer's Stone, which caused the destruction of the portals used to travel between planes.
Now Addy and Tanner, the equivalent of the new Eva and Andrew (minus the sibling relationship), have more power than any Akori in existence. They are also the last living Shepherd and Shepherdess, and now control the Palace of the Shepherds in Greystone, not too mention they can be the law in Greystone should they so choose.
As Addy and Tanner learn to control their powers they discover new things about each other and themselves, not too mention about those they love, including Addy's brother Jax. Adventures abound in this book, and the emotional scenes are powerful and commanding of your attention. Ms. Firman has a real talent for making the reader feel as if they are living the book rather than just reading it. That takes immense skill, and tremendous imagination to be able to write for both male and female points of view that feel equally compelling.
And she pulls a fast one on us at the end of this book, easily ensuring that everyone who has read it is counting down the days to the release of book three. Thankfully it is now less than a month away - though it feels like it Halloween just ended and now all you can think about is Christmas when you are six or seven years old... like it will never get here and time takes forever to move forward. (Though of course our rational minds realize that time flies faster and faster the older we become! And while I want to live in the moment always, it is a real challenge to do so knowing that the next book is just around the corner!)

Rating: Somewhere between 3.5 and 4 Stars
(There may be minor spoilers in the review below, major spoilers are in spoiler boxes)
Although it took me quite a while to read this (Sorry Colee!!) When I decided to pick it up again at the halfway point and continue, I started to really get into the world Addy and Tanner live in. Since I can’t remember everything that happened before 50% I started to pick things back up again and really enjoy it.
The ending absolutely tore me apart and makes me want to read the third book to the series to see how everything is patched up.
I really did like Tanner as a character in this book. His relationship with Addy also develops a bit more in this book and we find out so much more about him in this book as well as some of the other characters. Some of the language he used in this book like the way he calls Addy “girlie” was a bit too much in my opinion but it’s very easy to overlook. (I got a little confused about his appearance in this book thinking he was light-haired and looked like more of a surfer while Gage was dark haired and very muscular, but there were hints within the book that they looked quite different to that. It’s almost as if the author switched Tanner and Gage’s appearances for me and I struggle to picture them in the way that the author did.)
I didn’t mind Addy at the start of the book but by the end of it she seemed a bit obsessed and paranoid about Tanner which got on my nerves and I hope in the second book she improves a bit on this so I can enjoy reading about her more.
The plot was very good and kept me guessing with heaps of twists and newly gained knowledge about some of the characters. We are also introduced into another layer of the earth named Ravensbog and Greystone. Ravensbog was a very interesting place and I loved reading about it and Addy’s adventures into it. The people who live there are also fun to read about too.
Overall I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read the next one (damn you cliffhanger endings!)

Firstly I would like to thank Colee Firman, author of Sanctify for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this fabulous book.
The story in this sequel picks up right after when Dissever ended and we find Addie in an unconscious state. She saved Gage from shattering and ended up in Graystone, the native place of the Akori accompanied by Tanner, Jax and Juliette. After she regains her consciousness she finds Tanner to be discovering his strength and powers and it seems that he has some big and bad secrets that are deep buried. Addie feels attracted towards Tanner but couldn’t logically define her pull towards Tanner yet she keeps remembering Gage. Jax is shipped off to Ravensbog and Juliette tries hard to save him. Addie also works to get Jax back from there but as usual Mr Attitude doesn’t help them out. Friendship and trust is challenged, betrayals waiting at every stop to break hearts, deep buried secrets are about to resurface, bad guys are back with more power. Will Addie and Tanner be able to take the right decision? How will their decision affect the others? Will they be able to return to their homeland? All these questions and many more unanswered ones from book 1 will be discovered in Sanctify and these discoveries will leave the readers shocked than ever and totally breathless.
An awesome continuation of the heart winning series. Full of power-packed action and fast-paced progress, revelations of dreaded secrets, face-off of the known and unknown allies and enemies. I loved the writing style of the author and it really sucked me in within the story. The different worlds/dimensions that the author brought up in this story is really awe-inspiring and the vivid descriptions that she provided really made them believable and as real as our own Earth. The characters developed well and the author gave full attention to the side characters too and that made them a important part of this story. The romance and the indecision of Addie regarding her feelings for Tanner and Gage made this story a spicy one. The mystery and suspense was eerie but it succeeded in keeping a hard and firm grip on the readers and mesmerised them as well. A totally recommended book for ya all from my side.

An awesome continuation of the heart winning series. Full of power-packed action and fast-paced progress, revelations of dreaded secrets, face-off of the known and unknown allies and enemies. I loved the writing style of the author and it really sucked me in within the story. The different worlds/dimensions that the author brought up in this story is really awe-inspiring and the vivid descriptions that she provided really made them believable and as real as our own Earth. The characters developed well and the author gave full attention to the side characters too and that made them a important part of this story. The romance and the indecision of Addie regarding her feelings for Tanner and Gage made this story a spicy one. The mystery and suspense was eerie but it succeeded in keeping a hard and firm grip on the readers and mesmerised them as well. A totally recommended book for ya all from my side.

At first I was a little shocked at the ending and took me a while to register, when I finally did, I just kept looking at the book dumb founded, and then a big grin spread over me face. I know a lot of people hate cliff-hangers, but I actually don't mind them, they keep you interested, plus the next book is coming out this month so... I thought the ending was ingenious, truly perfect, I loved the way the author made it so dramatic, I was not expecting the book to end, even though subconsciously I knew and even though I saw that I was on the last page, I was too caught up in the book to see the ending coming, and bam, it hit me like a freight train. I really loved how the author managed to distract me form the fact that I was at the ending, by using such a gripping scene that I was at the edge of my seat, literally. I have no words to describe how much I truly loved the ending. This mostly has to do with the fact that I don't mind cliff-hanger, but some people might be annoyed and frustrated. Even if i were the kind of person to HATE cliff-hangers, I still have to respect the ending, you just have to. I feel like my emotions are being dragged all over the place. I will probably laugh at myself at the end of the series, thinking WOW, I really let this book get to me, which is also another thing I liked about this book, how once again it managed to capture me. What I was delighted to see was that there were parts in the story that actually made me laugh. It also had really good writing structure and amazing grammar and punctuation, it got to the point where I went searching for mistake, but ended up giving up about a quarter way in cause I couldn’t find any, something that make me laugh now that I am reflecting back on it. The only problem that I Had with this book was that it needed to have smother transitions when moving from another scene. I also fell like the characters have grown so drastically, there’s more depth to each character. I appreciated all the new characters, but wish Remy and Grimm had more history and were involved a little more. I would have liked there to be more history on Leeni and Momo. Once again I will repeat, I love the new depth to the characters and look forward to the next book.

Author Colee Firman has supplied readers with a very compelling continuation to the Unbinding Fate series entitled Sanctify. The story continues from the cliffhanger ending of book one with Addy, Tanner, Jax, and Julz having landed in Greystone - a home away from home. The continuation of the story was very fluent and no time was wasted rehashing events from book one; a turn off to some readers. Overall, I have to say that I enjoyed book two much more so than book one. One reason is because both Addy and Tanner have powers now and they aren't afraid to use them. Their inherited powers are rivaled with the legendary Eva and Andrew, from which their abilities descend. As with book one there is a lot of romance, which was to be expected. Yet, instead of letting it dissuade me from the storyline, I found that it greatly enhanced it. I thoroughly enjoyed the action, mystery, and suspense Sanctify offered, partially the reason why I was able to overlook the romance. Don't misunderstand me, the romance in the Unbinding Fate series is no less than that of any other book, I just cringe when a story centers around romance. Hence, why I stay away from that genre of books.
As a side note, I figured Addy would end up with Tanner and it definitely makes sense why she was attracted to Gage. Addy's life was a complete mess with her Grandfather dying, her best friends turning against her, and the Estate being attacked (I probably left a few others out). So, it's not unreasonable to see that she turned to Gage, her childhood friend, for support and reassurance. The fact that he scattered after trying to heal her simply added to the fuel. It was a catalyst as Tanner says.
The only reason I don't give Sanctify 5 stars is because it took me along time to get into it. It took me a week to get to 50%. However, after breaking through some imaginary barrier, I ended up finishing the next day.
Sanctify ends with another cliffhanger and it has me yearning to continue on to Book 3, Chasing Darkness.

Dissever (book one) rated a big WOW from me. Sanctify is even better! All the wonderful characters from the first book are back and each more powerful and getting into more trouble. It was so thrilling to get more of the backstory from the first book, as well as creating new characters and situations that were just as full-bodied and interesting. The worlds that Ms. Firman have created are amazing. The characters so interesting - and the twists and surprises the author takes you on make for a great read and fun entertainment. I've laughed out loud, held my breath, and been unable to put the kindle down as I've read Sanctify. The good characters are challenged, the bad characters just get more bad, and some even seem to wiggle back and forth. Leeli and Momo are wonderful additions - I would adopt them in a heartbeat. And the extreme fighting that end up with friendships gives us lots of hope for our worlds, right?! How does the author keep coming up with these incredible characters?! Within minutes of finishing the first book, I'd purchased and downloaded this book two. At the end of Sanctify, my first thought was Oh No - there was no book three to jump right into. But now I'm excited - just sure there will be a book three soon - these people have become friends and I want to continue to "visit" their worlds. To me - that's the best sign of a talented and skilled author - leaving the reader (me) wanting more - much much more. Ms. Firman has been added to my list of authors I must read - and for all thriller, fantasy, and romance (appropriate for young adult readers as well as us no longer young adults) readers I promise you this series is one you must read as well! Read this series - you will not be disappointed in it. Ms. Firman - please please keep adding to this series!

What can I say but wow! An easy one to rate at five stars...
Sanctify picks up right where Dissever left off. Addie has just saved Gage from being scattered only to find herself stranded in Greystone, the home of the Akori, with Tanner, Jax, and Juliette. Soon, she discovers Tanner is in a magical coma as his new powers fill him, one that Addie herself awoke from too soon, and Jax has been shipped off to Ravensbog, yet another dimension the Akori inhabit. The only companion left to her from before is Juliette, who is more interested in "freeing" Jax from Ravensbog than pursuing a friendship with Addie.
As Addie's powers grow, so do her mysterious and clingy affections for Tanner. She has to be near him at all costs, like an addiction, but she knows it's weird because he's just her friend. Missing Gage but drawn to Tanner, Addie struggles to resolve her feelings for both. At the same time, she attempts to rescue Jax from Ravensbog but finds he's not exactly interested in being rescued. Besides that, he's still got an attitude.
I love how the relationship between Tanner and Addie is brought to the forefront. It's one of those stories where you aren't exactly sure who the main character should end up with, and figuring it out is quite the roller-coaster ride. The emotions, confusion, and attraction are well-done and drew me in. I also enjoyed the lesser characters, Leeli and Momo. Very cute, innocent and childlike, even though they are ancient. And let us not forget the overarching plot. Akori are still stranded on Earth, and it's up to Addie and Tanner to bring them home.
I loved this book and will definitely read the next in the series. I'm still rooting for Gage, but we'll see.
I'd recommend this to those who enjoy YA, romance, and stories that provide a convincing mix of contemporary life and magic, but definitely read Dissever, first!

This was a brilliant follow up to the first novel in the series. Firman picked up where she left off, continuing the journey that these characters found themselves on, while adding new twists and turns that you didn’t see coming.
Firman is a brilliant storyteller who weaves her words together to create a completely unique and utterly captivating world for her readers to wander through. She brings this solidly built world to life with vivid descriptions and narrative, allowing the reader to easily immerse themselves in the story. She has also created an entire race of people with a history and mythology behind them. They are uniquely one of a kind, yet easy to understand and relate to.
The extremely well developed characters that we met in the first instalment of the series return with a vengeance in this novel. The main characters become much more well-rounded. They grow as individuals as they discover more and more about who they are and who they are meant to be. they interact with each other in natural and supernatural ways that allow you to identify with them and understand who they are and how they feel. The supporting cast of characters is also quite well developed. Although you don’t spend quite as much time with them you get to know the new ones as individuals, and those that you’d previously met return as the same individuals they were when we left them in the first instalment.
As a whole, this novel took a world and a people that I fell in love with and brought me closer to them. With each instalment I fall further and further into the brilliant world created by this phenomenal author.

A great continuation to a wonderful series!
I am still in love with these books and characters. I have stepped over into this world that Firman has created and I can't get out...not that I want to! Even when I'm not reading I find myself thinking about and dissecting this book and characters. There has been a lot revealed but I have no doubt there is more to come. I love how I never have things figured out, I am constantly being surprised as the story unfolds.
At the end of book one I was torn between Gage and Tanner and I wasn't sure which way I wanted the romance to go....but I can definitely say that I am a Tanner girl all the way. Love the mystery that surrounds Tanner and the dynamics of his and Addy's relationship.
Looking forward to reading the next book and diving back into their world. Can't wait to see where Firman takes us!!

After I read the first book that was graciously given to me by the author, I had to hurry and purchase the rest of the series. All I can say is WOW just wow! This book was such an emotional roller coaster! I laughed, cried and laughed some more. Needless to say if you read her first book, there is absolutely no way not to love this one. It was exciting and you found out a lot of things that were definitely important. And they way it ended just makes you need more.
The story line was enjoyable and gave you into a glimpse of the way the old life use to be for the Akori people. Though that way of life seems to be changing all because of Addy. Which of course is to be expected since she was raised in modern times. Overall this book was awesome and I recommend that you give both of them a shot. I promise you will definitely not be disappointed.

Addy certainly had her life turned upside down in the last book and now she is in for a shock arriving back at Greystone with Tanner, Jax and Juliette. We see her mature and take on the responsibility that her position entails yet she retains her fierce determination to do the right thing. The difficult circumstance brings her closer to Tanner yet she questions the validity of her feelings for Gage now that she is on a different plane. More surprises to come and in the face of adversity Addy and Tanner must unite the Akori if they have any hope of seeing their loved ones again. After all they had been through together I was surprised about the ending and only hope that all is not lost as Addy deserves her happy ending.

I thought I loved the first book but this one just ratcheted up the intensity to an all new level of love!
Addy and Tanner have been transported to an unknown place when the Overseers Stone was destroyed and the world building just got better! Now with three layers to the Akori world politics are playing a larger role and who to trust is really up for grabs. The pace of this was fantastic, it took its time when it needed to and it flew at just the right moments.
I'm wondering what is next, the dynamic between Addy and Jax is interesting, there is definitely more to him, and with Tanner pulling such a wicked twist I've got to wonder if Gage has a shot at Addy's heart once they are back in Greystone.

I was given this book by the author to read for an honest review.
The book has a lot of twist and turns and it ends in a cliffhanger. I loved the book! It though me for a loop at points but it was a page turner. I had a very hard time putting it down. I could feel what Addy was going through; the pain, the joy, the sadness. By the end of the book I thought I had been on a roller coaster. I was not happy with the ending but can only think that whatever is going on Tanner is just trying to protect Addy since he loves her so much. Although I was a fan of Gage's from the first book at it continues into this one, Tanner really starts to grow on me.
I can not wait to read the next book.

The second book in the Unbinding Fate series.
This book steps the whole series up a notch. I couldn't put it down.
We join Addy and Tanner in Greystone as Addy continues to learn about her race. She makes new friends and reconnects with old ones...
and things still took me by surprise. This is the first series which I've read that I haven't seen thing coming, the plot is impossible to predict and I love it.
The story is set out incredibly well. We receive a few answers to the questions raised in book one... enough to get me hooked. I need the next one now so I can find out what happens!

I was excited about what this book could hold after finishing the first book in the series, Dissever. I am so pleased that Addy has assumed a role of leadership and has developed strong powers of her own.
I do not enjoy the relationship between Addy and Tanner, it feels almost sickly and forced. Now that Addy is equal to or above Gage's level their relationship won't have that forbidden awkwardness.
This book ended with a concise conclusion the first book was lacking.
I really enjoyed Sanctify and can't wait for book three!

Addy finds herself in Greystone home of the Akori. Tanner is asleep, Jax is is in Ravensbog (since he wasn't claimed by the Mitchell family) and Juliette is the same. And Andrew and Eva are gone. Addy realizes that she must do what's best for the Akori and lead them and make changes for the better.
Can they get back home? Why is she staler-obsessed with Tanner? What about Gage?

This is book two in the Unbinding Fate series. Back in June when I was reading this series, i was so into it, i read them all in a chunk without stopping for life as much as possible, and forgot to review them all. In the second book, we learn so much that we couldn't even think of during the first book. A whole new world is introduced. I can't say much without giving away spoilers, but it's a must-read.

OK - only gave this one 4 stars - a lot of back and forth - do I love Gage, do I love Tanner, UGH! Kinda got old for a bit - moved a lot slower then the second book, but I loved it all the same - off to the 3rd!

This is a great series. It makes my emotions go up and down. Takes a great writer to to that to me. Love Tanner and Addy.
