The book is a collection of interviews of men who have cheated. It examines how men are raised from childhood to be unfaithful and how parents play a large part in creating cheaters. It also takes a hard look at the role of the other woman as well as the tolerant wives and girlfriends. Never before has a book dealt with infidelity on such a realistic level. This is a book every woman and man should read!
When it comes to entertaining, enlightening and educating, no one in talk radio compares to Michael Baisden. His high-octane energy and love for interacting with his listeners is just one reason for the popularity and success of The Michael Baisden Show. The Bad Boy ignites heated discussions with explosive episodic themes like: Living Your Dream, Your Body Is Your Temple, and Pimps In The Pulpit.
His radio career began in 2003 when 98.7 KISS FM in New York City offered him a position as the afternoon drive-time host. Because of budget constraints the station was unable to offer him a salary. Michael's response was, "Just give me the damned mic!" And sure enough, within six months, their afternoon drive ratings went from number 9 to number 1.
After eight months of consistent high ratings, Michael suggested taking his show national but management was apprehensive, suggesting that New York wasn't ready. A few months later, Michael threatened to quit if management did not pursue a syndication deal. "There was no doubt in my mind that I could have one of the hottest shows on radio! I knew the impact it would have on people all across the country and I wasn't taking no, for an answer," Michael rebutted.
His vibrant personality on and off the air has made him a people magnet. He began attracting attention with primarily female followers as author and publisher of the highly successful provocative books: "Never Satisfied: How and Why Men Cheat", "Men Cry in the Dark", "The Maintenance Man", and lastly "God's Gift to Women". Two of his titles ultimately were adapted into stage plays.
But his proudest moment came on September 20, 2007, when he passionately and skillfully spearheaded the famous Jena 6 March in Jena, Louisiana. This historic and momentous occasion garnered tens of thousands citizens of all races to peacefully marched in support of six young men who have been unfairly treated by the justice system. In addition, he urged millions of listeners to wear black on September 20 in protest of unequal justice. The news traveled throughout the country, everyone wore black in support of the Jena 6, from college students of all races to corporate executives.
2008 was another historic year. In late January Michael endorsed Sen. Barack Obama in the democratic primary against Sen. Hillary Clinton. Sen. Obama ultimately won and went on to defeat Sen. John McCain in general election on November 4. Michael celebrated with over 4,000 fans at a watch party in Miami on election night. The Obama camp along with millions of listeners credited Michael with being one of the major forces behind this historic victory to elect the first African American to the Presidency of the United States.
The Bad Boy continues to entertain, enlighten and educate as he pursues one of his first dreams, to have his novels adapted to major Motion pictures. The other dream was to host a Late Night Talk show. He got that chance in the fall of 2007, when he partnered with TV One to host and co-executive produce "Baisden After Dark," featuring comedian George Willborn and band leader Morris Day. The show was a smash hit, breaking records for viewers on the black owned network.
True life accounts of how and why men cheat! Doesn't get any simpler than that. Don't jump to conclusions based on what you hear, but don't ignore them or other signs you might see! How one chooses to handle the situation is another story...
I am not the weak minded female and this book just reminded me that I am far and beyond the cheating mans game. You can't play a player first of all and I don't care how much bullshit you claim, you will not get me in bed like a whore. I have to have feelings for someone before I become intimate with someone, with that being said I found this book raw and insightful. I'm what you would call a rare breed, I don't fall for the weak minded bullshit a man tries to play and i refuse to have a man cheat on me and me stay! Know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna turn around and hurt him ten times harder two can play that game. Its a shame these women let men control them like puppets when I'm the dominant one in the relationship and I promise a man cheats on me it sure as hell will be his last. I don't play games first time you fuck up I'm gone! I liked this book because I've always been intelligent on the mans mind and this book just proves my opinions on everything I am. Loved this book an weak ass ladies open your eyes and quit being whores lettin men treat you like that step up and hold the reins don't let that man control you and fuck all his lame excuses you can do better!
Eye opening from a male perspective/good read. When a man says you are a fool for letting him cheat what else can you be? This book tells you some of the hows and whys men do what they do. Somethings are new to the knowing and some where new to me. It is a wake up call for all women. Worth the read...sorry it took me so long to take it off the shelf to read.
The things I learned from this book made me think about how I interact with men as well as made me pay attention to how women in general react to me. It bought back some memories of things I'd seen in childhood that proved true to Mr. Baisden's words.
This was my first of Michael's books that I read. It is a page turner and gives the truth raw. It is not man bashing at all, more of how things really happen on both sides.
I read this and I got very interested in MB books. I ordered the 2nd edition thinking it was like a part 2 but I was sadly mistaken. It's the same book with a different cover.
The most unfortunate part about being the other woman is that she has no idea of the pain and heartache she is causing--not just for the wife, but for their extended families too. These women steal dreams. The crush hopes. They shatter families beyond repair. They don't stop to think about the consequences of their actions. They just enjoy themselves at the expense of so many people they will never know or meet. As painful as the experience is, I still would not wish the pain I've felt on the side chic. No one should ever have to go through anything so devastating as taking decades to build a family only to watch it fall apart. It's not just only her fault, but a couple can't work through their problems with her in the picture. The marriage doesn't stand a chance with her in the picture. If you are a wife going through this pain right now, I am terribly sorry for you. I wish I could make you feel better, but there's nothing anyone can do, not even the cheating husband. Just press your way and know that you will make it through this. Just don't give up on yourself.
It's a good book at the time I didn't know that much about love or relationships I said if I ever saw or felt a man cheating I would not stay i will leave here I am a grown woman let's just say in life were blindsided and once you see and know how someone is it and they show you or you see it is on you if you stay It is on you it took me a while in my own situations but I rather be single and happy than with someone and miserable
A good read although I don't agree with some of the things highlighted by the author in this book, It's shocking how some men lie and cheat and don't even effing feel guilty! And the low-lives even get creative with bull shit reasons for cheating Hahahaha. Just don't get too deep into this book , if you want to be left feeling just alright. I rather be single and happy than be with someone whose loyalty is controlled by opportunity. (:
"Never Satisfied: How and Why Men Cheat" by author Michael Baisden is a must read. Since I've came to be an adult, I've always enjoyed listen to author/personality Michael Baisden's radio and television series. I just knew that like his previous work, that his adult books would also capture daring and thought- provoking topics that everyone wanted to now more about. For example, this book explores the interesting topic of how/why men cheat and their ways of thinking. Through a collection of different characters, the author uses many interviews to uncover men's perspectives on monogamy, women and their cruel tactics when it comes to being unfaithful to their mates. Author Michael Baisden does an excellent job incorporating writing crafts, such as, imagery and descriptive details throughout the piece, allowing his audience to feel characters emotions and create vivid images in their own minds while reading. For instance, from the text he writes " Women have no idea how uncomfortable it is for a man to approach them, especially when they're in a group. It's like walking into a den of lions." I think the author uses writing craft throughout his work very well because the way he uses imagery and descriptive details to help readers visualize scenes and feel as if they're apart of the story's passages allows the audience to connect. I would take the writing strategies of imagery and descriptive details/language and use this to introduce a mini lesson to my class. I would take examples from other child friendly texts and have students create their own narratives using descriptive and detailed language.
I am a huge fan of Michael Baidsen, I have read two of his previous books and thoroughly enjoyed them. This book was no exception, it was very good and although they were some things that I disagreed with, it was still a page turner. I also love the interviews he gave for the different and woman who explains their infidelity that was unique. I believe that this book should`nt be categorized only for women, but for males to. In addition I love how honest and brutal he was about how some men would lie and cheat, and than justify their mistakes. I recommend this book for anyone who is fan of this author, he has humorous but his messages are poignant.
This was kind of hard for me to read. It just didn't grab me in as much as I wanted it to. I was able to take the hints that Michael was conveying. I was able to take a glimpse into why and how men cheat.
This book is good, but...it was recommended to me by a divorced woman. Just remember books are meant to open one's perspective; be they fiction or not.
