The Dead know what the Living are doing. A 19th century slave trader brought back more than just slaves on one voyage. He brought back the curse of the Silver Eyes. A powerful tribe of shunned blacks, each born with silver eyes, the symbol of infinity as a birthmark, and blessed with incredible gifts, were captured by a slave trader and dispersed around the world. The Tribe cursed those who stole them—and the neighboring tribes that aided in their capture. Today there is a group that wants to make that curse come true. And they've kidnapped a very special little girl named Star to do it...
This book was a wonderful surprise for me. The story and the characters are amazing. There are so many themes and twists running throughout this book and I recommend it to everyone.
If I could, I would give this book a 3.5 out of 5. It was good. Great premise. The author has a great imagination but it had some glaring things about it that I didn't like second read-a-round. Sexual violence was used a lot as a plot device, and the main character was a lawfully good archetype but at the same time a reluctant hero, and for me, those two don't work together. Also, even before I knew there was a sequel to this book it appeared that the author was trying to set up for the possibility of a sequel while at the same time trying to tie this book up neatly which made the ending feel very rushed--and very Deus Ex Machina. Also, I didn't really know the motivation of the villain except wanting power.
Still, with all that being said, the book was well written and the plot pushed me forward. I will be getting the sequel and I also got the author's Angel Bane I&II bind up and will be reading that as well.

I read this a few years back. The thing that attracted me to the book was the little girl with the silver eyes. I picked it up and started reading and before I knew it, I was on page 40! This was my first introduction to Gregory Townes' work and it didn't disappoint! Star Peters is kidnapped by a group who want to gain the power of an ancient African Tribe who had silver eyes and all sorts of powers. David Peters is her loving father and he will do anything to find his little girl! This book will take you on a total roller coaster ride and leaving you breathlessly begging for more!!!
Don't just a book by it's cover. When I first saw this book, I knew it was something that I didn't want to read. From seeing others discuss this book, I decided to give it a try, and I was shocked. This was a great book, and I highly recommend that you read it for yourself.
