Today I bring you the review of the manga Dragon Quest: The Adventures of Dai by Riku Sanjo, a work for which I had very high expectations.
🐲 Dragon Quest begins its story by telling us the defeat of Haddlar, the Black Magician who once wanted to dominate the world at the hands of the hero Abán to introduce us to the main character, Dai, a boy who lives on an island full of peaceful monsters and dreams of becoming into a hero, even though his foster grandfather wishes to turn him into a wizard.
🐲 The work presents us with a common plot such as the fight against a demon and his lieutenants, which is not difficult to follow due to the showiness of the characters, settings and techniques. However, the play suffers a systematic abuse of clichés and script conveniences.
🐲 Regarding the evolution of the characters, I can say that only the main ones have an interesting evolution, but that it responds to habitual patterns in these stories (the chosen one, the humble villager, the king in danger, the bad guy who redeems himself ...) .
🌸Conclusion: I consider that this manga is a good proposal for a teenage audience due to its plot, the showiness of the characters, the female nudity, the Japanese comic attitudes and above all because the miraculous recoveries, the timely resurrections, the arts show martials spanning the final two assaults on the enemy fortress and the heroic finale.
I consider that the manga deserves four cherry blossoms, but it has been so tedious, predictable and interchangeable, that solely for nostalgia and feminine visual delight in its forms, I give it three and a half cherry blossoms.
