Claudia Grant has officially been called to face her trial. To stand for the Savannah Coven and complete the task that has been set for her. When the antique items she touches show her more of history than she bargained for, she realizes her special talent has taken a dangerous turn. Evil thrives in the present but is also alive and well in the past.
And it's been waiting for her.
Cole Lonergan is strong-minded detective, a reliable man, and a good friend. And that's exactly where Claudia wants him to stay. In the friendship category.
As an established bachelor, he has no problem attracting the ladies, but when Claudia's trial begins, fate keeps pushing them together. He will do anything to help the coven in their war against the Amara, but frankly, he's not looking to settle down, either. Not just yet.
Claudia keeps telling him how absolutely, positively certain she is that they aren't meant to be together. That he is not what she wants. And if there's one thing Cole enjoys more than solving a puzzle... it's a challenge from a worthy adversary.
Suza Kates is the author of the Savannah Coven Series as well as other suspense and paranormal books. She loves writing mysterious places, page-turning suspense, and characters you’d like to hang out with. She’s a member of Novelists Inc. and has written fifteen novels with the help of lighted candles and full coffee mugs.
Suza currently lives in the German countryside with her husband and two fierce attack cats—at least until a tractor drives by.
Without a doubt, each book in this series just keeps getting better than the last! I couldn’t put this book down. I loved how this one began where we thought the last one would end (and instead had a surprise, but good, cliffhanger). Claudia’s trial starting the way it did was a surprise, and I loved it.
Claudia’s talent is so unique to the coven, and worked perfectly in the story, having me riveted every time she touched anything, everywhere she went. I never knew when she would be thrown into the story of an object.
I don’t even know where to begin with Cole Lonergan. Sexy, Scottish detective is only the beginning. The more we learn about him, the more I fell in love with him…over and over again! And was talking to my book, telling Claudia I’d take him if she didn’t!
And the Coven….the beautiful, wonderful women of the Coven. With every book, I wish more and more that they were real, and I could just go give them all hugs and tell them what amazing women they are. A sisterhood anyone would want to be a part of. They keep getting stronger, and so do their personalities!
What I really liked best about this book, as that there was more going on than usual. There were more secondary plots, and the others that were involved in previous books, and that we met along the way (I wont be more specific in case you haven’t read previous books) are all more involved, and we continue to get to know more about them, and be reminded about why we fell in love with them before.
This is certainly the best book in the series yet, and I can’t wait to see what comes to be in the next book! This Review is copyrighted. Please do not share without giving Paranormal Reads/Erin full credit.
Once again this series is fantastic! This time it's Claudia's trial and as with each book the stakes are raised and nothing is as it seems. Claudia has fought falling in love since all it's ever caused her is heartbreak, but with her trail upon her she fights tooth and nail not to fall for the sexy detective that calls to her. Cole loved his single status but has had his eye on Claudia. Now the two of them are pushed together by fate and only he can help her win her challenge. Everyone including their cats are in the fight of their lives in book number six and personally I can't wait for the next book to come out. Exciting story line, appealing characters and so much more.
Another delightfully engaging installment of the Savannah Coven series! This tale continues the trial but in an unsuspecting way to keep you guessing while stirring your emotions. There is plenty still left to be unraveled by the remaining three witches. Congrats Suza on another book well done!!!
This series gets better as it goes! The characters are still rather green as witches, but they're keeping up with their steep learning curve! The story is now getting a bit darker and the action a bit more intense. Loving this series!
I won this book in the bookreads drawing. I did not realize this was a series until I opened the book and saw all of the previous titles. I sat down and read this book and even without the past ones to go on, I still loved this book. It was new and fresh and a completely different approach to any "witch" story I have read. I love that you do not know what is coming next! This author has a very talented way of developing her characters and moving the story along. I believe this author has now become one of my favorites for my list. I will look forward to going back and reading this series from the beginning. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I've read a number of "witchy" books and I've come to appreciate how difficult it must be to create a truly sophisticated --i.e. mature-- story with characters that usually cater to children/young adults. Bravo Ms. Kate's! I eagerly await books 7, 8, & 9 of this series!
Loved this installment of the Savannah Coven. Had been wondering how Ms. Kates was going to keep the story fresh and she did not disappoint. Good love story as well as action novel.
I enjoyed this story as I've enjoyed the series. As a fellow author i understand the struggle to keep your work in a series fresh. That said, i felt as if the outcome was predictable. The character development is stupendous. This is one of the reasons i keep returning for more. I want so much more. The battle had me on the edge of my seat. I don't know if Quinn and Kylie will be the next to last of the trials but i found myself wanting to know more about their relationship than the main characters. I am also happy that the other cover members were spoken upon and we had a general refresher that didn't feel forced or awkward. I am ready for more.
Trial Number 6,_Witch #6, and the outcome was not what I expected. The whole witch vs. trial vs. love story was becoming pretty routine in this series but this book took a whole new route. I am again anxious to see which way this story is going.
A coven of Savannah witches are working through a series of trials to fulfill a prophecy of stopping a demon. This time Claudia has received her trail. With her ability to see the past when she touches objects, she has been tasked with finding several objects that were owned by the demon. The real problem for Claudia is the second part of the prophecy. Each witch is destined to find her true love during her trial. Claudia has been burned by men and has decided that she will never give her heart away again.
This is book 6 of the series. While it did read as a stand alone story, I am sure that my appreciation of the story was diminished by having not read the earlier books in the series. But I will try to look just at this single volume in this review.
Starting with the pros. This was a paranormal action mystery story with a large dollop of romance. The story was clean even during the sex scenes. The characters are likeable and well developed. Having lived in the area, I enjoyed the setting of Savannah as a backdrop for the story.
Now for the cons. I found the premise a little far-fetched. A group of new witches who are just learning their powers are able to defeat the evil immortal witches (who have centuries of experience) at every turn with apparent ease. In fact, the evil witches don't really seem to be trying to hard to stop the prophecy from happening. Claudia spends much more time trying to avoid falling in love than stopping the demon. The biggest problem seemed to be that the whole story seemed to be set on a mild setting .Both the sex and the action scenes were tepid for the most part. I never really felt the main characters were in real danger. When the evil forces had the advantage, they didn't seem to do anything with it. One minor con was the book's cover. It is so so dark that it looks like nothing more than a head and arm floating it a field of black. Even when you look harder and see some detail, the picture didn't seem to represent the story very well.
This isn't a bad book. It just isn't that great either. It would probably be better if you had read the earlier books (and I am tempted to go back and check out at least one more in the series.) If you are a fan of paranormal stories with a lot of clean romance, this might be the series for you.
I Loved this series and think it would make a good movie. Talk about a fun exciting ride! wow this was a big roller coaster. A great variety of emotions, some even intense or deeply sad. This story is based in the southern United States and is packed of multi-genre. Paranormal, Romance, Magic, Fictional History and Mystery. Each book becomes more thrilling and the author keeps you wondering "what comes next" throughout the entire series.
I purchased this box set of the first 3 stories first but before starting the second book I bought books 4-9. yes, I was hooked from the beginning.
The only thing i found distracting in the series was the increasing use of story repetition. In some places it is like the author is trying to fill pages by repeating previous written information. Regardless, i would highly recommend the series.
Amazing, fast flowing, and full of surprises and twists.
This is the sixth book in the series, and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them thus far. Thankfully they are NOT cookie cutter replicas of one another. While each women finds love, the events of each book flow nicely, with suspense, and surprises just enough to keep me guessing. The character development is astounding, and I mean all of the characters, no matter how small a part they play! Usually I figure out what is going to happen in a book before I finish it, that, amazingly, isn't the case with Suzanne Kates' books.
Still hooked on the series, and the story, but the books still aren't quite ... 'singing' for me .... to steal a phrase from the story ;-). I feel kinda bad going with only 3 stars, but they're just not 4 or 5 star books for me.
Again, smooth connections between all events; not too much "reminding" of what came in the past 5 books; and more exciting than the last book. On to number 7: Suffering of a Witch!
