An ex-thug turned most influential spiritual leader and head of the largest church in the south. This is the story of the wife who loves him but has reason to fear, and the three young men who seek vengeance for the sexual abuse they suffered at his hands.

His latest novel, THE MILLION DOLLAR DECEPTION is the sequel to THE MILLION DOLLAR DIVORCE.
In June of 2009, RM threw his ring into the non-fiction ring with WHY MEN FEAR MARRIAGE.
Bishop by RM Johnson provides realistic effects of child sexual abuse subjected by a bishop. The main characters are young men, Urail, Robby and Van, who were sexually abused during their teens by the church bishop. Each of the young men has a very different effect. Final main character is Bishop Larry Lakes. The Bishop has his own history of abuse, effects and personal use for the church. There is no sin he will not commit and is determined to expand his mega church. This story is exceptional, well developed and expertly written. There is hurt, pain, tears, anger, loss, homelessness, family dissolution and employment complications; as well as, a road to healing. I am joyful with the boy's decision to bring charges. This is an excellent read and highly recommended. Great work Author RM Johnson!! Fantastic!!! I am looking forward to Bishop 2!
It's been a long time since I last read a novel by RM Johnson, and I'm glad I found this one because it didn't disappoint. I didn't think I was going to finish it as quickly as I did, but I couldn't put it down. I had to see how it was going to play out. Of course, the book left us hanging and I learned there is a part two and three, so I'll be checking those out at some point to see how it all unfolds.
It's a damn shame how some of these grown men manipulate some of these young boys the way they do. They use their situation of being poor and fatherless to take advantage of them. It's terrible.
This is the 1st book I've read in 2 days in years! The story is disturbing but engrossing at the same time. I had to keep going and will continue the series because I want to see Bishop get get his just desserts for what he's done. The mark of an excellent writer is their ability to draw in the reader. RM Johnson has done just that with this specific book.
I chose a 5 star rating for this book because it was hard to put down once I began reading it. Each day I looked forward to the moments I could steal away with the "Bishop"! I Liked that each character became more and more real to me with each turn of a page. My heart just wrenched for Robby, Van and Urail as they tried so hard to live normal lives. There was only one little part in the story where all of a sudden an unusual switch in the story occurred as if something went missing. I'm not sure if I missed something or if there was a miss print; however, I don't want to give anything away for those who haven't read the book. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of RM Johnson and to those who are not I seriously suggest you reconsider for you are missing a treat. Awesome read. I can't wait to read parts two and three.
Had this book been complete I would have given it more stars. Had I know it was a cliffhanger I wouldn't have bother to read but since I did.....................I'm on to Bishop 2. A Cliffhanger is an incomplete story, you will not get a passing grade from me. Great plotline and intrigue. If you don't mind reading cliffhangers then I would I recommend this book to you. This is my first time reading anything from this writer and will not be my last.
Don't quite know what to say. The author definitely kept me wanting to read the book, but the gay part with the men was a turn off. I felt sorry for the kid when his mom left him with his dad, but cannot understand why his dad let him get screwed for money. Sorry excuse for a man. Bishop was great until he started messing with young boys. Find a grown man and get off. Don't use your wife to hide your desire for men.
I really did enjoy reading this novel. For me, it was good from beginning to end. I think the best part is the wondering if Bishop will really be found out, or will he find some way to get out of it...... again.
This book is a good read but it is also a bit hard to follow. It jumps from character to character and from scene to scene but it's interesting enough to keep you engaged. I am curious to see what will happen so I will definitely purchase the sequel!
What happens when a Thug supposedly turns into a church Bishop? A lot of mess and scandal, and that's just what happens in the first book in this series. There's a lot of things going on, and this was just such a great read.
This book was a fast read. This was my first time reading this author books, I am looking forward to reading part 2. I must admit that I was surprised that this book had a lot of typos!
This book keeps you reading. The shocking and disturbing actions of an aspiring pastor, with a loving wife, family and church, is not following God's direction for his life. All because of his shattered past with his father and his childhood abuse. Read Bishop!
