Every woman from north Alabama seemed to have one of these. I have my hand-me-down copy that is all stained from use. Of course, I will never need recipes for game or such, but it is true southern comfort food. There might be one or two recipes in it that don't contain some form of animal products even.

If you live in North Alabama, you're more or less required to get this book as a wedding gift. The 60s era photos are a glimpse at a lost world of Southern society ladies, but the recipes are timeless. We particularly love the peach cobbler recipe and make variations on it all the time. The many cookie, dessert, and salad options will keep you popular at church events and potlucks for the rest of your life!

This book belonged to my mother. She collected cookbooks. We used to live in Alabama, which is, I assume, where she got this one. I kept some of her cookbooks that I thought I might use, finally looked through this one after having it for many years. There are some interesting recipes here, a lot of meat and dairy. So far, the ones I've tried have turned out pretty good, although I had to make some modifications due to dietary restrictions.
