Story comes off a bit juvenile at times when the 21 year old is scared to talk to his mother and girlfriend. If and once he matures into an adult, perhaps the overall story could be more meaningful. 6 pf 10 stars
I guess this is some sort of absurd silly joke type genre.
It just made no sense. Less than 20 minutes into the story and the logic/plot hole issues were annoying me to the point that any hoped for enjoyment was dashed.
Do this book justice by listening, you won't be disappointed, well I certainly wasn't. The whole idea of super hero's causing more chaos than they solve isn't a new one but the fact that this book is told by three different characters makes it one of the better ones. You are given the perspective from the older experienced hero who is trying to change the system from within for the better, the jaded cop who used to be a hero but is now tasked with putting a stop to them and the young headstrong teen who needs to right all the wrongs his way. This works well and makes for an entertaining plot. It is well worked to keep the action and drama flowing and doesn't confusing. Throw in some rouge vigilantes, old grudges and family secrets and you have a superhero book worth listening too, one that isn't full of sex and teenage lust. I like the characters and the different and complicated dynamics between them, which was helped by listening to the previous books. Off to start the book to find out how Sawyer gets out of the mess he is in. The super hero's have been asked to lay down there capes and masks, as no super hero's mean no super villain fights to destroy cities. New York city has even set up there own task force to take down anyone who doesn't comply. The problem is crime doesn't stop and the world still needs hero's, even if they are being hunted. Sawyer as Harrier is one of those hero's but how long can he keep fighting the good fight? When even his girlfriend is opposed to what he does. His father thinks the only way forward is to make changes from within the system and is running for mayor. Can Sawyer continue with everything going on? Especially when he is being hunted by someone he once called a friend? The choice of three narrators was a good idea because they all sounded different, making it easy to know what character you were following in that chapter. Although one voice was very deep.
Seriously I just kept waiting for the novel to start. Till I realized that Harrier: Justice was really just an excuse for the authors to write the next book! An explanation from where the last book (Scions) ended and what the characters had been up to for the last three years. I also couldn't believe that the MC Sawyer had, exhibited no character development inspite of the period of time that had lapsed. He was still determined to make a fool of himself in front of a girl he liked. And his dialogue with her is so inane. But it's seemingly in the blood as his father also an idiot 🙄 when it comes to romance as well... So I wish that the authors had left the romance behind and just stuck to writing an action-driven crime fighting novel that they're actually good at. There's also some big time revels right at the end, setting up the next book nicely! I enjoyed the lineup of narrators for the book. But will I pickup the next book? Maybe if it's available free again for Audible plus customers 🤔.
This was a great bargain for entertainment, and I chose the audiobook with it, which was surprisingly well done for such a good deal. The reason I downloaded this was during an insomnia night, and I wanted something that wasn't too deep but still interesting. This fit the situation. It was easy to get into and follow, and the theme was easy to understand. I listened to the whole thing last night, and gave into the narration occasionally reading along and getting absorbed into the story. It's always fascinated me that a lot of criminals and thugs think of themselves as heros righting the wrongs of the world, yet they can't see that they are what's wrong.
After reading the Raptors trilogy, I was excited to find out that there was a new trilogy around the character Harrier (the Batman character from the first trilogy). I quickly downloaded this one and started reading. To my surprise, this wasn't a trilogy around the original Harrier, it's a continuation of the first trilogy where Sawyer has taken on the mantle of Harrier.
Set a few years after Book 3 ended, it is now a crime to be a masked hero (vigilante) so Sawyer is trying very hard to still be a superhero while at the same time trying to escape the law enforcement that is coming after him (and having to navigate his complicated family life). Unlike the first three books, it feels like these next three are going to be one large story as this one ends with a pretty big cliffhanger. I am curious and excited to see where this goes and am glad there are more books in this series.
I enjoyed the previous series, but when it ended with Evilstar being banished and then Eagle Star being the only superhero allowed to still operate, it sounded like a bit much to take. Then Alex decides he's going to join the anti-vigilante task force and make it his goal to take down Black Harrier and the Resistors.... Ugh...
This one ends on a down note, with Alex in jail and the big reveal that Justice is his brother. Also Frank's mayoral campaign isn't looking great.
I'm not sure how Summer found out who Black Harrier was, but there she is during visiting hours. We'll see how the next one goes...

The super power heroes have now become renegade vigilantes subject t to arrest an imprisonment if caught helping someone in distress. An amusing, fast action and intriguing story told from four
I love the book. I love the approach to the story. Most of all, I love the characters. If you’re a fan of DC or Marvel, you will enjoy this. The plot is intelligent and the characters… well, you’ll have a favorite too.
Sometimes you just want to read a good book about capes from someone besides the companies that start with M or D. This series, and the preceding series, definitely fits the bill! Thanks for making this Castle, Valin
I like the realistic characters, the dialogue, the descriptions, and that the author typed each of the chapters in this novel from each of one of the main characters’ point of view. I don’t like that several of the sentences in this novel aren’t grammatically correct. Four stars.
