This book is great for beginners and those like myself that have preserved for a little while but aren't experts. It has very helpful tips and recipes with photos. It also gives a bit of a history lesson on the benefits of preserving your own foods. Freezing, water bathing, pressure canning and blanching certain foods. What foods should be frozen and what shouldn't and same with the other two methods. Very helpful book.
I got a free copy from netgalley for reviews and my opinions are my own.

I read this book as a beginning preserver. Once COVID hit, I decided to ensure that I could eat healthy in the event of another disaster. These easy to read book gave me all the tools and guidance to produce an amazing canning cabinet.

If you want to know everything in a simplistic way, read this book

Inspiring

Information on both water bath and pressure canning, recipes, altitude charts. Confidence-building chapters filled with reasons for home canning. Sounds like a lot of work but rewarding.

Comprehensive

Very good book to have on hand. Lots of canning information and recipes. Good book for the price. Do wish they gave fruit measurements in pounds not cups though.

I am curious about canning and serious about giving it a try. This was a highly rated book for beginners that I purchased based on those reviews. Upon receiving it, I read it--skimming the recipes, but lingering on the explanations of the canning process. I feel like I have a good basic understanding of the canning process, both water bath and pressure canning. The recipes are pretty basic, but that's what I was looking for. There are plenty that I am eager to try, and from the clear and concise explanations in this book, I'm confident enough to get started. I did find a couple of copy/paste typos in the recipes--for example, one recipe says to simmer until sugar and salt are dissolved, but there is no sugar in the recipe, only salt.
