York Lad is stunned when his magic unexpectedly returns, but he’s ready to bring a little mischief to the small town of Mistletoe Falls. Along with his cousins, the other Yule Lads, York has spent the last year planning pranks to add their version of holiday cheer to the season.
Gabriel Baum needs to succeed at Mistletoe Falls annual craft fair. He doesn’t expect for the town’s quirky residents to embrace him with open arms, especially York, the town’s mechanic. When his beloved vehicle breaks down, Gabriel is stranded unless York can save him from certain doom.
York may not have been expecting to lose his heart over the holidays, but with his magic sparkling in the air and the man of his dreams at his side, he has a few new reasons to love the season…if his Yule Lad magic doesn’t get up to snow good.
If you love small towns, mischief makers, and holiday magic, your heart will melt over this feel-good Christmas romance.
Macy Blake believes in unicorns and fairies, in moonbeams and stardust, and that happily ever after comes in all colors of the rainbow. When she’s not busy at the day job, she loses herself in paranormal romance, living vicariously through her favorite sexy fictional heroes. These days you can often find her pounding away at the keyboard, trying to capture the magic of her own worlds.
This was too freaking funny - all the bad dad jokes and puns! I don't know how she does it haha
I am gonna love this collection of holiday novellas - full of humor, heart, and love. York and his cousins, the Lad boys, all have their powers back now, so it's time for some pranks and mischief!
Along the way, York discovers his mate in this sweet man and his adorable corgi. Love it and already starting the next book now!
Cute fluff with magic going haywire, felt more of an intro to Uriel's story if anything. Fated mates with a PG romance vibe. Best bit was the dog sweater.

I love when Macy Blake writes an entire series around Christmas and the magic that comes with the season. York was a fun and quick holiday read. I cannot wait to read the rest of the Lad cousins.
And it’s back to Mistletoe Falls after last year’s terrific Christmas Sprites Series, but this time it’s the Sprites counterparts, the Yule Lads getting back their magic and mates.
York, the first Yule Lad we meet, is Christmas Falls mechanic. A mixture of grumbly mischief with a deep love for his cousins, and an appreciation for the weirdness of his town, he’s just perfect. I adore him and all the quirky little elements that Blake layered into him, carrot fondness included.
He’s balanced with the relatable human Gabriel Baum and his adorable corgi, Bogie, who has come to Christmas Falls to sell his beautiful hand crafted gifts and ornaments at the annual Christmas fair. Gabe is in desperate need of some help and maybe even some magic. He’s got a sad backstory but he’s landed in a town that is warm and welcoming.
Love this town and its inhabitants. More please.
Macy Blake has written a delightful, heartwarming story that has all the holiday charm and great elements woven into a perfect fantasy romance. It sparkles with magical moments and scenes of comfort as well as ones of comedy.
What a great start in a short Christmas present! I can’t wait to see what Uriel’s story brings.
Highly recommended.
Yule Lads: - [x] York #1 - [ ] Uriel #2 - December 7,2023
York is the first book in a spin-off series from Macy Blake’s Christmas Sprites series of last year. It’s also tangentially related to the author’s larger Chosen One universe, taking place in the same world, but a step apart from most of the main storylines. It’s not necessary to have read any of the other books in the world in order to enjoy this one, though having read the Christmas Sprites series will give you a little extra. Returning to Mistletoe Falls brings the holiday puns out in force, as well as well-meaning but interfering townsfolk. The Lads are pranksters, but the harmless kind, as that’s what they were created for.
York is one of the Yule Lads, who like the Sprites from the previous series, used to have magic. Where the Sprites bring joy, the Yule Lads bring mischief. York, town mechanic, finds himself drawn to the new ornament maker at the craft fair; Gabriel. But Gabriel has secrets and is on his last legs, broke, living in a camper van with his cute corgi Bogie. Then of course his jeep Bertha breaks down. All of the locals get involved in trying to get Gabriel to stay and York is top of the list on reasons why it's a good idea. It's full of pranks, cute moments, town joy, mischief and romance.
This was disappointing. The Sprite series started out well last year, but as each story progressed, there was less and less romance. I don’t even think the main characters kissed in the last book.
Is this a cute story? Sure. Is it a romance? No. You have York and Gabriel kissing for the first time and then York falls to his knees and takes care of Gabriel’s carrot. This all happens with about 2% left in the book.
Don’t get me stared in the puns. Is it cute every once in a while? Yes. Does every piece of dialogue need one? Nooooooooooooooo
Finding your mate make magic all the better. York wasn't expecting to get his magic back or meeting Gabriel but when he does the sparks do fly. Gabriel is an ornament maker but his life has has been tossed upside down and sinking fast that is until he comes to this magical town. He meets the incredible people who seem to be eager for him to stay. Him and his little Bogie meet York and he is immediately charmed and hooked. He found his reason to stay. Very sweet story of love at first sight and a magical beginning.
So dang cute, I already love the Yule Lads! Hmm, York and Gabriel were adorable together. I always wish there was more, but I also need the other installments, so we have no choice. Highly recommend, full of holiday cheer in a small Christmas town. Don't forget, if you haven't read the "Christmas Sprites" from last year, start there first! Now, to be patient till 12/7 for Uriel story.
I mean, it was cute but I found everyone interfering with Gabriel's life (even if he needed it) a bit off-putting. That's a me thing, but I'd be running for the hills (assuming I had a car that worked). I have to give it an extra bonus point for the cover because for whatever reason it does it for me. So it was fine and cute but didn't blow me away.
This is a spin off of the sprites holiday stories by the same author from last year. I recommend reading those first.
This story was cute but, as with a lot of short stories, was lacking a lot of details. I'm still not 100% clear on what this mischief making is supposed to do but I think the town and the characters, so onto book 2!
York and Gabriel are adorable together. This is a short and sweet holiday romance that I loved every moment of. The puns were awful in the best kind of way. The romance was so sweet it makes your teeth hurt. And Bogie is so incredibly adorable. What more could you ask for?
Another great book from Macy Blake! Just love the town and all the characters that live in it! The main characters were amazing and loved their journey. Totally recommend!
I loved last years festive hi jinx so knew that we would be in for a treat with a new set of cousins causing havoc with their magic as they find their mates in the quirky little town
The Yule Lads are magical beings that live in Mistletoe Falls, and are a bit more mischievous than the Sprites. This was the fist of the Yule Lads’ story, and it was a good one! It is sweet, and also funny, and of course romantic with an HEA!
A great addition to the Mistletoe Falls Family. Magic is back and on the loose. The carrots are hysterical. The fishnets on the lamp posts were a fun twist.
What a delightful story full of laughter and mischief. York is one of four mischief-making cousins & he meets Gabriel, his mate & all kinds of "magic" ensues.
Macy Blake creates worlds and characters that I wish were real! York and Gabriel’s story is just one more fantastic story that I know I’ll be reading again! Highly Recommended
I started 2023 with books from the prior series - so I thought it was nice to finish the year with the next. The little Christmas town is low-angst and sweet.
