Moving here was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, because I’ve been able to live wonderfully, and write my heart out. I’ve always enjoyed the arts in one form or another. Music sets the mood, reading stimulates my brain, and writing allows me to utilize my imagination in any way I want. I’ve been writing stories since I was a teen, and figured out it was my passion when I finished my first novel, Something About Eve.
I love being captivated by books that lead me into different, exotic places, and through impossible scenarios. I love being able to become someone else for a time. Reading has always inspired me to bring my own characters out to play. My hope is that my writing will inspire others, or at the least, give them a way to escape from everyday life for a little while.
If I'm not writing or reading, I'm training for triathlons. It's a good way to challenge my body the way I challenge my brain when writing. I'm not the greatest at it, but not only do I do it for the challenge, I do it for charity. It's a good motivation. :)

The thing about Eve? She's bloody indecisive!
The plot. Former stay at home mom and art aficionado, Lainey Stanton lands a job working for Eve Sumptor's Gallery. Eve has it all she's smart, confident, successful and gorgeous. It's not long before Lainey's admiration for Eve turns into infatuation. Nothing can happen however since Lainey is married to Jack and Eve has Adam (HA!). But what happens when Eve returns Lainey's feelings?
The characters. I can't stand either one of these women. It was like every other page they were going back and forth between "I want you" "I want him" "but now I want you again" "but I still want him" "I love you" "I love him". This isn't the f*cking Matrix, just pick one already!
The writing. My girlfriend kept snickering next to me because she warned me how frustrating the books were to read. It did keep me turning its pages however because there was always something crime related going on and I was too curious for my own good.
The special. Pick a negative human trait. Any negative trait you can think of and you will find it in this book. I can't list them all because they would be spoilers.
The negative. There is not one single thing that I can point to and call positive. For a book that's 148,976 words long that is a lot of angst, drama, crime and general awfulness to get through. And there are three books!
The verdict. Read the entire thing in a few hours and my head was pounding harder than a sailor on shore leave yesterday! Though if I'm being honest it was the book and its characters that caused it. Will I still read the second book? Yes, because apparently I've become a masochist. Overall rating is a 2,6*.

Lainey, is stuck in her life, with an unresponsive husband and her 2 kids. She goes back to work to break the monotony & reclaim her sense of self. Enter Eve, who owns the company she starts at. There is an instant appreciation for each other which leads to a smoldering relationship. Eve is haunted by her past, multiple criminal elements and her current relationship with Adam. This book takes you on a rollercoaster ride, through emotions & situations. Spoiler the happy ending seems to foreshadow a dark sequel, which I can't wait to dive into.

I liked this book
Don’t understand why the author kept forcing Adam and Jack down our throats. Kept describing them to be in loving relationships with their respective partners but their partners both seemed mostly disinterested in them except for some random sex scenes.
Can already tell this series is gonna be more drawn out than I imagined it to be

I enjoyed this book but, it's not a lesbian HEA. In fact there's more hetero sex in it than lesbian. So, I was disappointed in that fact. I might not have read it if I knew this ahead of time. But I did read it and enjoyed it. I've read other books by Jourdyn and really enjoyed them. I understand it's a series, and I enjoyed this enough to read the whole series! 5 stars

Dark past is horrible, they will chase you till your last breath and even though you have enough money and beauty in the whole world and nothing can touch you, beware, of your dark past, because, it can twist your so called power within a snap of a finger!! Something About Eve is a dark , mysterious tale about a woman who have all the power in the world, but her dark past is haunting her like a bad-hungry wolf.
First of all a token of thanks to the author, Jourdyn Kelly, who provided me with a copy of her book, in return for an honest review.
Eve has an empire to rule, from a restaurant to an art-gallery to many other such businesses. One look at her, every woman would hate her, and every man would love her. She hires a married woman as her assistant in her empire named Lainey, who's equally stuck up on her life. Eventually, both these women grew fond of each other, which sparks off a relationship between them. Each one of them was unhappy with their own lives, thus finding solace in each other's company. On the other hand, their decisions and Eve's dark past was plunging on them, making them weaker thoroughly. So many bad incidents started happening around them, as a result, Eve embarks on a dark and vulnerable journey to make peace with her past.
The writing was flawless with too many twists and turns, which will force your grey matter to work, yeah quite an intelligent novel, and highly intriguing plot, which will hook you till the last pages of the book. The chemistry between the two women is totally rocking, which will make you want more to happen between these two, making the USP of the book. The characters were strong and powerful, at times we see they are at the point of breaking down, but still they manage to recover and to stand tall, totally apt and justifies with the plot.
So I recommend you all to read this book, if you want some badass drama!

This author's work is a fiction of the imagination. Her story is of an informative nature. The average reader will have a high school education. The author's tone is informal; and presented in third person narrative. The title chosen was perfect for the storyline. This author's structure of text and language is organized professionally which makes the story an easy read. There are so many twist and turns - it's another fascinating aspect of the story. For a first time writer, I feel this author developed an excellent plot, her writing is superb and character descriptions and settings are awesome. They are so vivid it makes the scenes and people appear real.
There was truly Something About Eve - a woman you'd love to hate; and hate to love! She had everything sex appeal, smarts, money - and her own empire of businesses. If you're looking to read a book packed with intriguing action, this is the one. There is a multitude of going-ons: from romance, betrayal, sabotage, fantasies, suicide to murder. I was hoping the two women would not let their emotions get the best of 'em -since they both had a lot at stake. Guess, it was bound to happen, thou. I was constantly trying to figure out who the real villains were, trying to destroy Eve and her empire. The way the author played this story up was awesome - it took a level of imagination to make it all so real.
It's not over yet for Eve, I believe. The way this story ended: "She had never been happier." "As she was being watched through the binoculars, . . . he walked away." With the finishing touch here ("a twist"), there will be more to her tale than a "supposedly" happy ending. Certainly, we can expect to hear more from this author. And that's a good thing! Overall, it's an impressive tale for a fictional work of art, and "Something About Eve" will make a great gift for any occasion. I love this story and recommend it. As a reader, I'm sure you'll agree.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest opinion. First let me say thank you very much to Jourdyn Kelly for allowing me to read her book. From the very first page of the story I found my self drawn into Eve's story. I had to read more and more . I just could not get enough until the last sentence was complete.
This story is about a woman by the name of Eve - who is being haunted by her past . She is the owner of several business's - a restaurant-an art gallery-and sever others. She hires a married women by the name of Lainey who is having problems with her marriage to be her assistant in the gallery. Eve and Lainey hit ôff real well. They become close friends- as they become closer they find themselves exploring a relationship between them. As neither is happy with in there current one. All the while Eve is being hunted by her father. Yup you read that right. See there something about Eve - that makes everyone want her.
This story is full of love-desire- finding oneself and find out who you are. Jourdyn brings all the characters to life. She makes us see compassion in Lainey how much she cares for her sons, Eve and and the end her husband Jack.
The plot is amazing! I am so looking forward to a follow up of this book. As it leaves you wondering - I sure hope we see more of Eve, Adam, Laundry, Jack and the kids.
For the outstanding work on this book. With everything I am going to give a rating of 25 stars!!!!!!

Loved the book and could not wait for the sequel to see what was next with Eve and Laney. The unexpected twists and turns throughout the story definitely kept me riveted. Very emotional past with Eve that was told beautifully. Would definitely recommend!

I don't really know what to think of this, it's one hell of an unsatifying ride, especially as it is only tome one of four. I take the liberty to reconsider this after I read the rest, even if I have to admit, that the epilogue is not really to my liking and I'll have to read somthing more like what I want, before I try tome two, that at the moment has all the feel of a DNF to me, unfortunately. There's a reason why I don't like series, even though I have written one myself. I tried to make sure, though, that each installment had an ending with a satisfying situation for a same sex (female) couple.

Hmm. I’m not sure how I feel about this book.
Everyone cheating on their partners and never having a conversation about it. Just moving on as if nothing happened; when in actual fact so much more happened.
I feel also I have more to say on this book but apparently I can’t quite think 💭.
I want to read the other books… but at the same time… I’m just not sure. I don’t know if I can bare not seeing E and L together until book three? And if they don’t speak about what’s happening I don’t think I want to.
But I just don’t know.
I’ll probably end up reading them but who knows, I might not too.

Although it's been a enjoyable series so far . I do have feelings of disappointment . And a question why is this series in the lesbian e-book column ? If not for the brief and I do mean VERY brief interlude there wouldn't be any lesbian encounter at all !!!
And why a talented writer infer that that brief time was an affair ? When Eve wasn't with Adam ! Now if this conversation would have been with Eve Lainey and Jack ! Then you could have used the word AFFAIR . And it would have had the implications . But this conversation was not with said person !

Action packed romance. At first I sided with the F&F affair but I couldn't help giving in to conscience and rooting for Adam. I believe this was a really good story, it has lapses of course but it was obvious in the pages that the author invested a lot to get her audience wanting.
I see it is a series... Not sure I am enamored enough to want to read the sequel because I really do feel every chapter here is closed but perhaps I'd read the reviews of the sequel and hope that changes my mind.

Back story was interesting and suspenseful but I had a problem with the main characters bouncing back and forth between each other and their lovers. It felt unresolved and disappointed at the end.

Lainey feels like there's something wrong with her life, and she wants to do something about it. She decides that going back to work might be just what she needs to get out of this slump in which she feels stuck. However, she's soon captivated by her new boss, Eve, who takes Lainey under her wing as her personal assistant. Soon, there's more than just art and paperwork between them, and they must decide how to handle the new-found feelings along with everything else in their tumultuous lives.
This story definitely kept me interested, as I wanted to see how everything would develop between Lainey and Eve, and especially to know just what all happened earlier in Eve's life to make her the woman she is today. Lainey's married, Eve's with Adam but doesn't know how to commit, and to top it off, there's people dying and going missing all around them, with each new problem being attributed to Eve. She knows what's wrong, but she has to prove it, and along the way we not only learn how ruthless and determined she can be, but we also get to see the vulnerable side that she's been hiding all this time.
My only criticism is that I thought it was a little long, but that may have just been me getting tired (I read it all in one afternoon/night). There was a lot of ground to cover, so it makes sense for it to be longer than the sequel, but to me it felt some parts could have been shortened without losing any information or natural flow of the story. Other than that, great novel, and I'm starting the sequel ASAP!

This is my first review ever, but I felt it necessary for the Eve Sumptor's trilogy.
While this 1st book is not the HEA most readers would like (and maybe expect), the ending and the whole journey makes perfect sense, especially if you consider the series as a whole.
More importantly, the author is able to write is such way that the reader is able to feel everything the main characters are feeling: all the pain, all the desire... all the decisions.
I understand whoever read this book when it was the only one available regarding Eve Lainey they may have not liked it as much due to the ending - I actually empathise with that because I do love a HEA - but the fact remains that the ending as it is makes perfect sense.
It would feel completely rushed if there was a HEA on this 1st book, and we would miss all the big journey ahead that is so full of emotions and understanding.
What I'm saying is that I loved this series, and I advise for everyone to read every single book with an open mind.
I know I will read them again at some point - yes, it was that good!

Fantastic!
I know I am a little late in reading this series as this was Jourdyn Kelly’s first book, but what a read. I started reading this after the LA Lovers Series. I started with Fifty Shades Of Pink and then Coming Out. After getting to know the characters, I went back and read the books in order. Which brought me to the Something About Eve series. It has been a whirlwind since. I have now read a total of six books between the two series and am so emotionally involved with each and every character. The hidden turmoil and horror Eve has had to live with is unbelievable.Eve and Lainey’s chemistry was so hot and heartfelt with the need for each other so strong. The true and honest love they have for each other is so heartwarming and felt to the core of us readers soul. I felt that with Hunter and Ellie from the other series. I can’t wait to continue with this series. Jourdyn Kelly’s writing has such a way of pulling the reader in so deep that you feel like you know these characters deeply. So so good!

October 21, 2017The mystery aspects of the plot were good, but I really don't see what the point of the affair between Lainey and Eve was. They are each with people, they get together with each other, then Eve decides that she really wants to be with Adam so she goes and lives happily ever after with him and Lainey goes back to her husband that she can barely stand half the time, essentially putting their respective relationships back to where they were at the beginning of the book. So again, what was the point of putting it in in the first place? All this did was turn Eve from a sympathetic character and turn her into a somewhat twisted one, while Lainey went from someone trying to achieve happiness to someone who is just sad. I read one of the authors other books Coming Out and greatly enjoyed it, but was a bit confused by the Eve/Lainey relationship mentioned in it, so I read this book. Now I am even more confused.

The plot was okay…the cheating …the STUPID back and forth..smh!! This is a series I will not waste my time with. Not only was Eve crazy rich but apparently she was literally some celestial being’s gift for us mortals to feast our eyes upon. (She’s in a restaurant just ordering food she touches the waiter’s hand…a joke made that she probably gave him his OOO. She walks out of the police station and a cop makes a comment like …she makes you wanna go home and bang your wife). Just awful awful. Not kidding. I hate characters like that…main ones even more so. Be aware…though there is W/W action there is also W/M action and that part I kinda had to like skip in paragraphs. Don’t hate men just my attraction level is not sexual.

Well written story with a thriller twist. Confusing is a word you see a lot written in this novel. Two couples but one story. One main character whose life has been fraught with sadness an trauma but turned her life around to success but loneliness. A good read which I would recommend

5 star's do not do this book enough justice!!
Something About Eve, was everything i could have asked for in a book. Amazing chemistry between the characters, tension, mystery, lies, threats, murders, and an in-depth insight into the characters heart desires, fears, and weaknesses. All which make the book a definite page turner, i really couldn't put the book down!
Lainey has been married to her husband Jack for well over 10 years, they have two beautiful sons. Lainey is bored of the same routine day in and day out, Jack has been paying less attention to her needs and wants, they haven't been intimate with each other in over 2 months, all in which prompts Lainey to make some changes, starting with returning to the working life. Although Lainey has a keen interest in Art, she applies and gets the job of accountant for one of the most respected Art Gallery's in the city. Here we meet Eve, Eve is rich beyond words, beautiful beyond measure, and extremely confident. When they both meet, they are instantly attracted to each other. With Eve captivated by Lainey she offers her the job to become her assistant at the gallery. The more they spend time together, the harder it is to ignore their desire for one another, although both are in different forms of relationships, they're love, chemistry, respect and understanding for each other strengthens. Eve has been the happiest she has been in years, but is harbouring a secret that could not only ruin her life, but ultimately end the lives of everyone she is cares about.
I could sit here and write a detailed review of what happened word for word, but i won't lol. Go read, i promise you won't be disappointed.

Incredibly Intriguing + Irritating

—“How do you explain to someone that,, hearing them tell you they may be falling in love with you had not only confused you and scared you to death, but also brought you more joy than you had ever felt in your life?”
Absolutely beautiful!!! OMG, this story TOTALLY rocked & then some!! This story was absolute perfection!!! With every page I read, the more I identified with & felt connected to these characters then the more I became invested in their journey of revealing & reconciling pieces of themselves while exploring each other—hostages to the pleasures & pains, intoxication & desperation & feelings & fears of love.
I Loved the journey of attraction, recognition, understanding & love as it developed & intensified between Eve & Lainey— in the midst of their redefining, self-discovery of understanding & acceptance of their own evolving identities— was crafted marvelously by Jourdyn Kelly!!
I expected being more upset & displeased by the concluding outcome & the way this story ended… (weren't we pretty much ALL hoping for Eve & Lainey to make it last forever somehow!?!)… but honestly this is probably the more riskier & repressive ending but it was more of a resonating & responsive romanticism thats written all throughout the narrative.

Well, I liked this… mostly. There were a few places I thought it felt a lot like a first novel, which it was, so we’ll let that go. What really got my goat was we went through all of that, all the way to the end, and we’re still stuck with Adam and Jack. The song for this book is definitely Better Version. Consider Eve and Lainey: I loved you at your worst / and I fixed your heart, but mine still hurts / And now some other person is gonna get the better version of you.
Yeah, that was the part I really had a hard time with. If I didn’t have a friend counseling “Patience please. They’re one of the best couples once they free themselves.” I’d have thrown the book across the room and I’d be done with it. (Friend didn’t say where in the series this occurs. Damn me for telling her no more spoilers.)
All right, that aside, it was great. Eve and Lainey were wonderful characters, with a lot of history to unravel (especially Eve)… but they worked through it over the course of the story, to their credit and benefit. On top of that, there’s a lot of plot action (again focused on Eve), which worked well. All in all there was never a time I was willing to put this book down.
I’m gonna give the next one a shot, but if we’re not rid of Adam and Jack pretty soon… I’m not sure how long I’m going to last. We shall see.

I found this book on my Kindle - I’m pretty certain I didn’t buy it! In an effort to ‘clean’ my Kindle, I decided to take a break from self improvement and educational books and read some fiction. Unfortunately this book did not hit the spot. I applaud Jordouyn Kelly for writing er first book - it’s something I have never done. However this book was predictable and far fetched. The story is about rich girl Eve Sumptor who owns a string of art galleries. She falls in love with her new assistant, Lainey Stanton. No problem with that, but the words bisexual and lesbian are never mentioned in the book when the girls wonder why they want to have sex with each other. Eve also has a boyfriend and Lainey has a husband and 2 sons. The story slowly tells of Eve’s battle with her father and how he killed her mother. Eve lets more and more of her far fetched past spill out and the story ends with a predictable happy ever after.
