After accidentally flashing the audience with her knickers, Em Brown decided that writing was a safer activity. She enjoys writing romance, particularly erotic historicals. For more about her works, visit www.EroticHistoricals.com.
Trudie, wife of Leopold, a Baron, is talked into going to the Chateau Debauchery by her cousin. While their husbands are at Ascot, The two ladies lie to them and go to the Chateau. Leopold figures out where they are, he has been there himself before his marriage. He took a mistress after marrying Trudie, because he thought she was dull, lifeless, and didn't love him. When Leo arrives at the Chateau, he dons a mask and wig and finds his wife alone. She is too scared to engage in the festivities. The whole long 🌙night he toys with her, never letting her know she is with her own husband. Trudie thinks she is committing adultery, but she's having a wonderful time!
Leo realizes he never gave his wife a chance to become his love before he got his mistress.
Interesting book. There is cheating by Leo of course, but those scenes are not in The book. The book is an erotic romance, but does have a story.
I received this book (kindle addition) from Bookbub, as part of a Boxset.
I spent most of the day, wondering if I would write a review for this book? Before the chapter of the book begin, it had a disclaimer associated with it.
I found the husband to be a complete dastardly beast. I liked the opening sequence beginning at the horse races. I found that to be accurate to the tale. At this point, if you have read Georgette's other book... than you are more then familiar with Château Debauchery, the staff associated, and also the types of individuals that frequently visit.
Trudie, experienced at the hands of her disguised husband a number of off putting offenses (because of his inexcusable rage, jealously, frustration, and perhaps experiments). All of this, I found to be paramount to abuse. It is no excuse, that his behavior occurred because of the location. A number of times, he forced himself on his wife. He mentally tormented her, because she was unaware that it was him. He made her feel completely ruined. It is little wonder that she ran away for two months.
Although well written, I just found this book to be appalling. I absolutely hated the ending with vows. It felt so abrupt and completely inappropriate. His actions, could have made her with child. We could have ended the book with the discovery of so... seems how we were seeking a "happy" ending.
Of all the books I have read from Georgette, I don't particularly understand why this one was written? These were random characters, placed in setting that was preestablished in other books. I hated it.
But, because I kept reading the book... I give it two stars. Typos are limited. Descriptions are decent and then some. And the author has a way of making you wonder what the ending will be? If the book was completely unbearable; I would give it a single star, quit reading it, and berate every loathing detail entailed.
As I have stated before in other reviews, I will continue the boxset. This is because, the author writes well. There is something to be said about clean, detailed, descriptive writing.
Side Note: I have read books that where disturbing in nature (bdsm with & without consent). The reason why I found this to be so appalling, is that he abused her repeatedly physically... as well as mentally... and continued to do so until Trudie was so ashamed. Leopold being the husband does NOT excuse his behavior. In this setting, he had ruined her so much... I would have thought she would leap to her death (had he truly been the stranger she thought him to be). Maybe, that would have made a better ending... than the whole, "I vow" that was given. The ending was such a let down.

ICK. Preface, that this book is 85-90% about one night at The Chateau Debauchery. I have no objection to sex scenes and unusual games, when consensual. Sexual assault, however, is not my thing. That happens near the beginning when she is attracted to the "stranger" but doesn't want to give into his seduction, because she is married. Her husband, who is pretending to be a stranger, is alternately aroused by her and angry that she is having sex with him (even when she struggles to get away). When she tries to break off (she feels guilty that he is not her husband), he coerces her by saying he will show her how to please her husband. Even when she doesn't want to do something he pushes he to do to make her husband want her. Then he is pleasured and angry that she would do it with a stranger. She doesn't know it's him, because he is wearing a wig and a mask over his eyes. BTW, they have been married for two years and known each other since childhood. I kept hoping it would get better. It didn't.
Each had come to the Chateau Follet for their own reasons. She was convinced by a friend that two wrongs made it right, whilst he came angry, that he be made a cuckold by his wife. However, a chance was given to them, that allowed her to expand her knowledge, and experience, so perhaps the marital bed wasn't as disappointing. He was stopping her from commiting adultery, and learning new things in the process. Could this house of cards they built collapse on them, or could it cement their relationship? You need to read the writer's story, to find out the whole erotic tale.
Of all the books I’ve read by Georgette Brown, this one was my least favorite. Only because of Leopold. I had a huge issue with his thinking and attitude towards Trudie’s actions. The fact that he was so unforgiving and taunted Trudie for thinking of doing the same thing he had been doing for the past year or so, made him very hard to like. The way that he would talk to her was verbally abusive, and with having experience with that type of abuse personally made it really hard to read. It took me longer than normal to finish this book due to having to put it down every time I got angry.
Not as smutty as my tag implies but there are moments where the baron overpowers his wife which some might not find as hot as I do. Felt longer than other stories by GB and had more tension between the characters since he was upset with his wife for cheating with him even though she didn't know it was her husband. Also GB is the softer pen name but once again we have elements of BDSM that go beyond steamy. Several spankings, edging, bondage, agressive fellatio, and the primal factor when the couple are in the piano room.
The front cover of the book is eye catching. The title is attractive and apt as per the story content. The plot is intense and engrossed with steamy romantic elements overall throughout the face paced light warming plot. Deeply hooked with it because of the characterization and perfect canvassing the scenes. Enjoyable and satisfying read for me. Would like to recommend it surely. Thank you.
For days Trudie kept s secret from Leopold. She was going to Chateau Folle. When she arrived she was afraid a mistake was made. Until she met a stranger. This stranger showed her things which she never dreamed of. He gave her great pleasure. After fo ding out whom he was she thought her life would change.
I am on the fence about this Story. I do appreciate that Leopold wanted to teach his wife a lesson, but i think it went to far as he basically raped her at Château Follet. If i was Trudie, i would have slapped him to the best of my ability. If not, i would have tried to pull his mask off to get a good look at who was being forceful with me.
The cover was exquisite. Leopold finds that his wife going to sex club to find out about sex. He disguises himself. He is her partner. BDSM. Trudy has mixed up feelings. Then a HEA.
Leopold Spencer is enjoying himself with his friend at the races until his friend informs him that their wives are spending a couple of days at Chateau Fallet which he happens to know is a house of Ill Repute that he spent time at some years ago. Leopold is absolutely livid thinking his wife Trudie could be cheating on him even though he has had a mistress since he got married. He races to the Chateau and tries to get the Mistress of the house to throw his wife out but she refuses but allows him to partake of the entertainment. When he finds his wife he wants to punish her for coming there even though he feels quilt for cheating but not enough to not punish his wife. This is a tryst of a man training his wife to be her best in the boudoir. Adult Content. I was given a copy from the author as a gift without obligation.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel from the first page until the very last. It has been a very rare occurrence that I could just pick up a book and read it in one day; but, I was captivated by these characters and their amazing love story instantaneously.
I loved this book.It was very sweet. Faced some real issues in a marriage and had so much steam. Between husband and wife the whole time, I really loved this story. I highly recommend!
