With a housing shortage on the island, making a deal with the man who broke her sister’s heart becomes the only way to reunite her family.
Sara Chen enjoys working at the Brass Anchor Inn and hopes to be promoted to manager. And so when the inn’s new owner goes on vacation, it’s Sara’s chance to step up and impress her boss while doing whatever is necessary to help her sister move back to the island—even if it includes dealing with a man from her past.
Kent Turner works in his family’s furniture business, but he feels stifled. Every new idea he has to expand the business is shot down. Wanting to do more than the finances, he decides to put one of his ideas into action. He starts a refresh project at the local inn.
But with a big wedding coming up, the project has to be done quickly. It will mean hiring help…unless he makes a deal with the beautiful yet stubborn inn employee. If she’ll help him complete the refresh project, he’ll rent the apartment above the furniture store to her sister. But as they work together, secrets are revealed, relationships are given a second chance, and love is found.
Includes a recipe for Sara’s apricot blondie bars!

We are back in Bluestar Island with another sweet, clean, contemporary romance . One in which another of the Turner siblings finds love. Kent Turner works as the finance person for his parents furniture business. A business he believes is stagnant and one that is starting to feel stifling. He has ideas on how to bring it up to date but his parents refuse to change what they say is working. Before considering leaving the island he is going to try something else. Deciding to show his parents what he can do for the business, he gets his sister, who is the new owner of the local inn, to allow him to “refreshen” the lobby. Sara Chen works at the Brass Anchor Inn and has been left in charge of it while the new owner is away. She was not happy to find out Kent would be working to refreshen the lobby. Not only because of the disruption right before a wedding but also because she believes he’s the man that crushed her sister when they broke up. As they work together and feelings develop, secrets are revealed. Will that change their future, or will they each go their separate ways at the end? This is a story about family, loss, new beginnings and second chances. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I always enjoy a story about real-life struggles. Throw in a great couple and I’m hooked. And no one does it better than this author. Sara and Kent are struggling with past decisions, family issues, and life itself. With new businesses to run, a new friendship to develop, a lost kitty...and a love to enjoy? It was a great read. One of the things I loved the most is that the “small town” feel, where they live, makes me long for a place right by them. Of course, everyone (family, friends, the golf carts...) has an opinion about everything but that’s the beauty of small communities, at least to me. I loved this book!
Sara and Kent are are working together, and that's not a good thing considering their past entanglement with animosity thrown in. Sara just wants to do her job and be there for her sister. She may have misconstrued some facts about Kent along the way. She learns to accept working with him and even finds herself enjoying their time together. When Sara finally listens to Kent and finds out she might have had some misinformation, she starts to warm up to him. This is a feel good story, and I highly recommend it!
I enjoyed returning to Bluestar Island for this story about Sara and Kent. It was a sweet, romantic story about life, love, and loss. The refresh that brought Sara and Kent working together sounded nice for the Brass Anchor Inn lobby. I liked how that made Sara and Kent have to work through things. I think Oreo stole the show and was just what Sara needed. So glad things worked out for Sara. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I love this series! The characters are so much fun to read about and this one has a fur baby too! Little Oreo! I think he stole everyone's hearts. This is an enemies to lovers set on the Island of Bluestar. We met Sara and Kent in the first novel, but their story is in this one and it is such a fun read as their relationship grows! On to Book 3 immediately as in right now !
Accustomed to losing everything she loved, Sara fights to overcome her feelings. And open her heart to her sister's ex-boyfriend. But will he move beyond working at his parents furniture store rather than leave the island for more opportunities?
Love this book and all the others I have read that she had written. I love the epilogues with every book so there is an little bit more added to their happily ever after. And the recipes at the end are pretty cool too.
Great book. Love these two characters that didn’t want to be around each other, but must to take care of something that’s important to the small town. It’s very endearing. A must read.
