I have a soft spot for Sports Romance and this one was sweet.
It wasn't a big passionate love story, but they did have a cute sweet love. It was a step above wholesome, but I enjoyed the journey. Amelia was fresh out of college and was trying to find her footing in the Real Estate industry. Her first client is rookie NBA player Jared that she happens to have a history with that he doesn't remember. Amelia transformed from high school and the confident woman she was today was night and day from the meek girl she was in high school.
Jared and Amelia have an immediate connection, but it feels like he just wants to hit it and quit it. However, the more time they spend together the more he doesn't want it to end. Eventually they blur the lines and they end up in a light situationship. Jared is trying his best to balance being a rookie in the NBA with expectations from his team and of course the women and starting something good with Amelia.
They had some chemistry in the bed room, but I just didn't really buy the love story. There needed to be more time spent building on their love. Solid read though 3.5 stars.
You all, I wanted for Amelia to be successful so badly, that I could smell and taste her victory. But first, let me talk about her mother. What in the I'm a hater Mom did Amelia have? That lady was determined to to win the worst momma award. I am in total disbelief with these trash mothers in some of the books. Thankfully, Jared and Amelia's story uplifted all that negative energy. The other cast of characters upheld their end of the bargain.Amelia's sister Sienna and Lux were my favorite ancillary characters. A good read...
Jared and Amelia knew each other in high school but when their paths cross again one remembers but the other does not. There are sweet, sexy, and fun moments of Black Love.
First book by this author. Jared and Amelia went to high school together, she tutored him, but he didn't remember her. Amelia has transformed from an ugly duckling to a swan. I couldn't tell you what Amelia looks like....I hate when there's isn't a clear description or a description at all of characters especially the lead characters. Jared was described tho. Amelia's relationship with her mom....*rolling my eyes*, the was no reason of explanation for it. He chemistry been Jared and Amelia was ok...not HOT HOT but not cold. I guess it was warm. Storyline was simple, easy to follow, no real drama. I'm ok with no drama...but it wasn't really clear why the break up with Kensley messed Jared up or why her text messed up his HEA's during thegame. I had a few question at the end of the book. I know this is a part of a series so maybe some of those questions are answered in the next book, unfortunately I won't he reading the next book.
I liked them as a couple. I'm excited to see who's next in the series. I was surprised this story wasn't about him and Kensley but I really liked Amelia and how they knew each other from high school.
I felt like the book left some holes in the story. What exactly did Kensley say to him the last time they communicated? I feel like there should have been a scene when Amelia and Kensley met since they would have to be around each other at some point. Also, was it not Maxwell telling her mom everything? Were they in a relationship? How did her mom come to accept her life choices? What is her mom's story? A lot of unanswered questions made they book feel rushed towards the end. I would've also like to see a scene where Jared checked his teammates the next time they tried hazing him.
I love a black romance that doesn’t include trauma. This was such an easy read. The characters were easy to root for, and the conflict that did arise was very realistic with confidence, issues or issues with your mom and her expectations for your life.
The only reason I didn’t give it a full five is because I do wish some conversations around certain topics were a little more drawn out. I do wish that there were some periods put at the end of some sentences like what ended up happening with Amelia and her mom, what ended up happening with Amelia and her real estate career, how did we land at Amelia and Jarrett like finally finding their footing?
To this author, because we love a black love story that avoids actual hardship.
I loved this book. It’s a story about finding the person who brings out the best in you, about growth and about doing what’s best for you!
Jared met Amelia when he was looking for a house. He’s a rookie basketball player and she’s a rookie realtor. He instantly thinks she’s cute and flirts a tad. Jared doesn’t remember that she used to be his high school tutor and Amelia doesn’t remind him. They become friends and then more. Their relationship progresses with a few hiccups. They overcome and grow stronger. I loved how Jared encouraged Amelia to be true to herself and how she grounded him. I devoured this book. 4.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
This was a smooth read that I enjoyed a lot. I liked how Amelia seemed kinda low-key yet she still had some bite to her. I dug how Jared stood up for her when she was his realtor. Enjoyed their camaraderie. Thought she was a tad quick to assume with the Bar 24 issue, but I'm glad it didn't take forever for them to work it out. And I was thrilled when she finally stood up to her mother.
I read this out of order (as I tend to accidentally do) so on to book 3. LOL
This book had my interest immediately. I have yet to be disappointed with the author. She is the bomb when writing novels. I am so glad for Amelia. She deserved what she has and more. Jared did the damn thing. I am such a sports fan and a low,key love fan that this one I almost read non stop. Great Book! Will be interesting to see if Lux and or Sienna will be books 2 and 3.
I really enjoyed this book. This author has not let me down with any of her books. She gives me a full story with each couple and you get to see their story unfold with all the ups and downs and I love that. Jared and Amelia were cute together and I loved how they encouraged each other when they were going through doubting themselves. This was a really cute story and I can’t wait to see what else comes from this series.
Cool story. Amelia’s mom was terrible. So happy she had her sister sienna and best friend Lux.
I liked Jared and Amelia. But Amelia’s insecurity was a little annoying. Jared letting his team dictate his life after that one game and Kensley message throw him off his game had me side eyeing.
Overall, they still made a nice couple, though I wasn’t drawn to them. Something was missing and I couldn’t put my finger on it
I really enjoyed the chemistry between Amelia and Jared, and I loved the friendship that formed between them before anything romantic developed. Amelia struggled with her insecurities and people-pleasing tendencies…thanks to her mom; however, I was so glad to see her find her voice and grow throughout the story. This was a charming, heartfelt read with just the right amount of romance and personal growth.
Yes, so glad these two found one another and was able to give love another try. And they both stood strong up to their parents which turned out to be great. Amelia finally found what she was passionate about and went after it. And took that leap into NBA although his mom wanted him to finish college as he said it all worked out.
He was a rookie in the NBA, she was a realtor who hated her job! She found him his dream home. He was smitten with Amelia and would do anything to keep her close to him. He helped her realize what she really loved as a career and she had his back win or lose. A great read!
I enjoyed this book because I could relate to it from a realtor eyes. I think anyone trying to fulfill someone else’s dreams should read this. It’s also a good read for a person who doesn’t believe in themselves. I’m not sure if Amelia was as green but I was tickled at the beginning of her journey with how she handled things. 🤭
Amelia remembered Jared from high school but he didn't remember her! She's now a realtor and he needs a home in 1 month! She finds that home and he allows her to decorate the house! A series of events causes Amelia to realize her true passion and Jared realizes he's,in love! There story was so cute. In the end they got their HEA!
First time reading from this author and I have to say that I think I’m gonna be reading more from her. I liked this book. The relationships and the plot was pretty good. I kinda wish that there was more development of the relationship between the two Mac’s, but otherwise it was pretty good. Would recommend.
I really enjoyed this one!!!! Super cute story with Jared and Amelia. She was a real estate agent and he was a new star basketball player looking for a new home.
He didn’t realize they went to high school together and she was his tutor. But he fell for her hard.
Like in 3 hours I was done, couldn't put it down! Now I have to go back and read the whole series because this was too good Amelia and Jared were too cute, Amelia was lowkey getting on my nerves but Jared handled that in the custom California king!
A smooth good flowing storyline. A love story with no drama. Just basketball and love. The kind you can envision for yourself. Now I’m hoping to get more about Kelsey because I know she has a story 🤭. Thanks to the author for another well written good read!
This was quick read and it was enjoyable. I’m a huge sports romance fan and this one was ok. Some of the terminology was off which was the only reason I gave this 4 stars.
Amelia's Mom was something else! Glad she had her sister and best friend in her corner. Jared was determined to earn Amelia's complete trust I love how he did it. Can't wait to see who's story is next!
Jared and Amelia it all started from high school and look what happened.... He didn't know who she was and if he hadn't been for her he would have never made it to college or the NBA, glad it all worked out even though her mom got on my nerves.
I enjoyed the heartfelt love, her attitude to advance her career on her own and his support of her and his honesty regarding his feelings for her. Together their growth. We need TJ's story next.
Jared isn't your typical NBA player. He wants comfort and peace after a game, not partying and women. Amelia has to follow her own path not the path her mother wants for her. That lady was a piece of work 🙄 Sienna didn't play with her though 🤣
Love the story!!! Nice weekend read! Amelia’s mom was a trip, trying to push her career choice on her daughters, instead of letting them find their own way. Glad Amelia found her way with Jared!!!
Loved the characters and their relationship with one another. The banter was bantering. Recommended for when you're looking for a shorter book that's light and fun.
I’m getting so that I’m enjoying sports love stories. Amelia and Jared were a cute couple and I liked how their story progressed. I liked how Jared was faithful to Amelia despite being a rookie in the league. Very cute story.
Super Cute!!!! I was confused at why she didn't tell him who she was at first but I understood as the story went on. He got to know her for who she was now and not how they started. I love a good sports romance, especially when he falls first and is all about her without being on B.S.
