Change is hard, but it's inevitable. Kara Barrett I lived a high-octane life; I worked hard and played harder. I was a lioness tearing my prey to shreds. One night of passion led to two pink lines. I didn't mind; it was a blessing, an exciting new chapter in my life. But new chapters don't always start the way you expect, and mine started with a small town called Paxton and a grumpy cowboy. He burst into my cafe and told me to stop changing things that didn't need fixing. I wasn't trying to change anyone or anything. I was trying to find a reason to keep living. I thought it would be the cafe, not a grumpy cowboy who became my new landlord and my reason. Austin West When you are born into a dynasty like West Ranch, your choices become minimal. I wanted to run the ranch with my brothers. I wanted to be a cowboy and live with the land. I thought I had it all—the girl, the house, and the ring. It would all fall into place. Then she left for the city and never looked back. I may never be enough for anyone, but how I felt didn't matter. I had a ranch to run and a legacy to continue. Change in Paxton was uncommon and I avoided it at all costs. But when a red-headed wild woman rolled into this town, she brought change to my front door and a reason to put my barbed wire heart on the line one more time. Little did I know that my Wild Thing was not the only change coming. She was the one to anchor me for the storm rolling into West Ranch, and none of us had any choice but to brace for impact.

There’s a storm coming and we have to be ready for it.

This book came out swinging. Kara and Austin are a hurricane that I desperately want to be caught in. Hail, wind, all of it.

The last 90% of this read had me enthralled. Thank goodness and thank Jessica that there’s another one to be read!

"Hope should live in everyone, and it does for the most part. But with Kara, I wanted to be unmistakable, burning brightly within her."

"Don't run for me again. If you are mad, let me have it. If you're sad I will be your shoulder to cry on. Just don't run away from me again. I thought I lost you."

"Love is a burning thing and it makes a fiery ring. Bound by wild desire I fell into a ring of fire. The taste of Love is sweet when hearts like ours meet I'm happily get burnt for you."

Wild Thing by Jessica Myel's was such a wonderful read. Jessica made it so easy to connect and really get a feel for the characters. I really couldn't set this one down.

Kara and Austin are two different types of people. Kara is a hardworking city girl and Austin is the hardworking cowboy. This makes them really bump heads at the beginning. We learn all the heartbreaking things that happen to these two and when they finally connect and come together as one, it really becomes one epic love story. Once they come together something big happens and it really shows how much love this couple really has.

I really enjoyed the second book of Jessica's Wild series. Jessica really does well with the characters, dealing with their emotions and the triggers are handled perfectly. This earns it's five star review and I can't wait for book #3.

This book was really good, Kara and Austin were great characters independent but when they got together it was explosive. The love these two had was amazing and the obstacles they went through were worth it.

Jessica Myel does it again. All of her books are great, but this one was my favorite by far!

Kara is a big city girl who is relentless in pursuit of what she wants. She is extremely successful in her career and likes to have fun in her free time. "Work hard, play harder" kind of girl. Life becomes something she never imagined and she is desperate for a change. ENTER AUSTIN.

Austin is a grumpy cowboy who is dedicated and hardworking, carrying the ranch on his back. He is a well respected cowboy and his name carries a lot of weight in the ranching world. He is turned off to the idea of love after heartbreak. ENTER KARA.

After an interesting, heated first encounter, Kara and Austin can't seem to stay away from each other. They find themselves going out of their way for just a few minutes in the other's presence. In an attempt to protect herself (and protect Austin from her and her past), Kara, despite her feelings, holds Austin at arm's length. Time-after-time Austin proves himself to Kara. He continues to show up for her and show her that she is worthy of the unconditional love he has to give. And man, does he have a way of loving her...

When Kara finally decides to give herself (and Austin) a chance at love- she realizes what she has been missing. She realizes what true, unconditional love looks like and feels like. She realizes she is worthy of being loved and being loved well.

Their love is the kind of love everyone dreams of. It is what the best love stories are made of. It is a biblical kind of love that is patient, kind, and without anger. It is showing up and being present. It is open and vulnerable. It is being your true self and it is taking on whatever life throws at you TOGETHER.

Guys, take a hint from Austin and love your ladies like he does. Ladies, don't settle for anything less than the Austin West type of love.

This book was hard to put down and took me less than 24-hours to read. CANNOT WAIT to learn more about the West family in the stories of Knox and Colby!!

I had a nice time reading this book and I must say that I didn’t expect to appreciate it this much. I found in this story something special and it just melted my heart. This is a slow burn but I kinda enjoy how we can witness the relationship building and how they learn to grow with each other.

Austin and Kara had this special thing of being the perfect half for each other. They both have emotional scars and I thought it was beautiful to see them heal with their relationship. There is this dynamic of learning to trust again, sharing problems and trying to find solutions together and I just loved that with them. They were a perfect grumpy x sunshine and I was pleased to discover their story.

The family ranch vibes were immaculate and I loved every detail we had about this side of the story and how it is important for the plot. I had the feeling to be a part of it and it was really immersive, I enjoyed that. Also, I adored having details about Kara’s work and how she is finding her new path with her coffee shop, it was beautiful to see her grow and heal throughout the book.

There was such an emotional side of the story that I really appreciated and that I think was pretty solid and important for the book. Jessica made a wonderful job writing about feelings and love. Wild Thing was amazing.

This is the second book of the series and you MUST read them in order !! But don’t worry, book 1 (Wild Flower) and book 2 (Wild Thing) are both available on Kindle Unlimited and Amazon already so you can now add them to your TBR and give them a go ASAP !!!

Congrats Jess with this one you killed it, I am already excited for everyone to discover what is next 🥰

With love,

*ARC REVIEW* Lately I have been reading a lot of dark romances so it felt good to take a break with a light-hearted romance. I don't think I've read about a passionate slow loving man in a long time. Austin was so caring and understanding. More points are added when a man has the balls to apologize when he knows he's in the wrong. But he also made mistakes and I love it when people aren't written as perfect. Because nobody's perfect. Kara was strong and independent. Everything I like in a woman. A bonus was her wearing cowgirl boots because I know I love mine.

It is important to mention that miscarriage/stillbirth is a trigger warning in this book. It's not off the page so I’d like for people to be aware of that. I know this is a serious topic and can be very triggering. I know plenty of people who don't feel comfortable reading about it. So know your triggers and be aware of this. Other than that I like how it was shown in this story.

I believe the next story will be about Knox. I'm excited about his book because I think we might get to explore more about bull riding/competitions. I love reading/watching bull and horse competitions. And if you do too I recommend the show Heartland because they explore all of them.

I'm also curious about Colby and Lacey's story even though he pissed me off. But I love enemies to lovers.

🌸 Wild Thing review 🌸

Wild Thing: book 2 of the Wild series by Jessica Myel

“I don’t know why and I don’t know how Austin West but I thank God your grumpy ass broke down my walls… because I didn’t see you coming.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you so much to Jessica for having me as part of your arc team for Wild Thing! I was absolutely captivated by this book from page one. It played out like a movie in my head and I was amazed by the complexity of the plot and side characters, plus all the events I never saw coming. A story of love, healing, drama, and a whole lot of rough around the edges cowboys.

While this book is the first male West POV we get in the series, Kara stole the show for me in the best way. I loved and related to her character in so many ways. In book 1 we met her and she was a bit of a mystery but getting to see and experience her past made her a favorite character of mine. How a small community and that ONE person can shift your whole mindset and show you just how much you deserve to be whole.

If you know me, you know that I’m a sucker for a grumpy, brooding man, and let me tell you Austin West definitely delivered in that department. 🥵 While having a tough exterior, he puts his family and ranch before all else. There isn’t anything he wouldn’t do to protect his own.

The side characters and plot really thickened in Wild Thing and I was on the edge of my seat until the very end. I am craving book 3 so badly after that cliffhanger. What will happen next?! 🫣

⚠️ check TW before reading. Heavy topics throughout.

♡ Tropes:
• Grumpy×sunshine
• Frenemies to lovers
• Forced proximity
• City girl×cowboy
• Small town
• Slow burn
• Family dinasty at stakes
• Book 2 in the Wild series (must be read in order)
• Spicy
• Mild cliffhanger
• Multiple POV (1st person)

♡ I absolutely LOVED this book! I was so intrigued and excited to read Austin and Kara’s story while reading Wildflower (book 1 in the Wild series), and I was not disappointed. At first, I was a little lost because it doesn't start right off with the both of them. They meet only a little further in the book (not halfway through, don’t worry, lol), but it made the story more realistic for me. We got to see Kara and Austin, both of them, during their daily lives before something happened to shatter Kara’s life. I love how Austin and Kara’s story happened at the same time as Rhett and Jessie’s.

It dealt with some heavy topics that, in my opinion as someone who never went through this, were really important, not talked about enough, and were pretty realistic. And their relationship. I’m sorry, but the communication between the two of them… The love, the respect, the comfort—this relationship was truly everything.
And the ending?!?!! EXCUSE ME?! I was shocked when I saw it was the last pages… HOW COULD IT BE THE END!? Seriously, the plot twist? I saw it coming, but I didn't think, for even a second, that it would be THIS! No, seriously. The end of book 2 was SO not what I was expecting. But now I want to read book 3 (and 4!!!) SO BAD!!! I’m so impatient to read Know's, the playboy's, story. As well as Lacey and Colby's story!! I NEED to know how they met and how they ended up like this. I want to know everything there is to know about this family!

⚠ Be sure to check the TW before reading this book. The topics discussed are not for everyone. Respect your boundaries if you think this book might trigger you. ⚠

♡ I would also like to thank Jessica for sending me an ARC of this small town cowboy romance!!!! ♡

(the WILD series Book 2)
A Grumpy Sunshine Small Town Romance

I enjoyed reading Kara and Austin’s story. Jessica Myel writes a wonderful story with interesting characters. This was a fast-paced story with an external threat that kept me reading. The relationship built between Kara and Austin was a slow blossom. I loved the way Austin is so patient with her when he seemed like he’d be the exact opposite. He really is just as caring with Kara as he is with the horses he trains. Wild Thing is an easy read, entertaining, and romantic journey between two wounded people who learn to mend the broken pieces of their hearts together.

I received a free advance reader copy and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is the second time I’ve read one of Jessica Myel’s works. It was a sweet story about love, forgiveness, and understanding. I’m looking forward to the continuation of the Wild series.

I loved this one. So far my favourite in the series.

I was obsessed with Kara from the second she popped up in ‘Wildflower’, she has all the characteristics I look for in a FMC. Her wit, kind heart and the care she has for everyone.

Austin West. That simp. He went from hate to heart eyes in his eyes. The grumpy but I love my woman man will always get me.

The epilogue had me shook. I didn’t expect Colby to pop up.

I can’t wait to pick up the rest of the series. I’m really excited for Knox’s reformed player, fake dating book. Some of my favourite tropes.

this book was a great palette cleanser!! i’m loving the cowboy romances and now i want my husband to be a cowboy. Wild Thing gave me major Yellowstone vibes especially Beth/Rip vibes, think season 2 Beth when she’s not so hot headed!

I kinda related to this because i’m from a small town in Wyoming and traded that life for the city life so Kara’s was the opposite. it definitely tugged my heart strings but i’m swooning over the grumpy Austin, he’s just amazing.

This is the second book in this incredible series, and this is Kara and Austin’s journey. Austin is a broody, grumpy, cowboy, who puts his family and ranch before anything else, and Kara is a hardworking city girl, who is a ray of sunshine, has a coffee shop, like to have fun, is relentless in her pursuit of whatever she wants, and Austin is her new landlord. These two are complete opposites, but the chemistry between them is combustible and undeniable, and they complement each other perfectly. This is a well written story which is a slow burn, emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, heartbreak, challenges, healing, and an entertaining small-town romance, with unconditional love.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Arc Review

This book was a breath of fresh air, since I rarely ever read cowboy romance.

Kara is a badass women who persevered after going through a lot in life. Austin is a grumpy man that has experienced heart break. They both had things the others needed, and in a way made the other one feel whole again. Also Austin said all the right stuff, such a gentleman!

I enjoyed the family dynamic, the plot and vibes were amazing! And the convos between the girls were so cute. It was written in a way that you could feel all the emotions experienced by characters, a great read for me!!

Austin and Kara two very strong very independent people that just want a second chance at love but don’t want to let there heart have it. This was good read I love the west Ranch and all it’s cowboys. You can feel the connection Austin and Kara have for each other. The banter was good, and how the story progresses I never saw the ending coming a mile away. If you like small town slow burn with cowboys this is a read for you

The two characters are so alike yet so different. Kara is a city girl who’s strong, independent and gets stuff done. Austin is the big brother, dedicated and hard working. Them together? Completely magic. It was nice to meet them in the first book of the series, but learning more about them and their stories is so fun. This is such a great read.

This was a super emotional read. Once Kara and Austin got together they had quite a bit of good time together, no drama no issues so it was almost like waiting for something to happen made the last half go a little slower. then you get to 90% and its so much suspense and drama. Still a great love story and Austin's transformation from grumpy to golden retriever was really nice.

The thing I likes the most about this book is how real it felt. It makes it easy to connect to the story, the characters and to really get lost between the pages (also the country/cowboy vibe is always a win for me).
Austin is sweet, works hard and is such a caring character. Kara is independant and so strong, from the first pages you get to know that about her, yet her vulnerable side is still their and so relatable. I love how she accept to show that part of herself without shame. They make a great team and I loved seeing their relationship develop, it was cute especially when you see that this relationship is healing for both of them. They both have their own traumas/hard past but they work on them and it makes them better and stronger together.

I would like to add that there are a few trigger warnings, so you should make sure that you are inform and confortable reading about those subjects before you pick this book up 🤍

Oh boy! I loved this book! Jessica has out done herself again!! This was such an enjoyable read and I loved getting to know both Kara and Austin on a deeper level and see how well they suited each other. Even a grumpy man can fall in love 😂 this series overall has been such a roller coaster I am so stoked that there are two more left and they just keep getting better and better. Following along on Kara’s journey was so heartbreaking and rewarding. I think there is a bit of Kara in all of us one way or another. I love a strong independent woman who might get knocked down but knows how to pick herself up by the bootstraps.

I thought I loved Rhett and Jessie but I think Austin and Kara have got them beat!
