I’m trying to figure out WTF i just read and why my dumb ass even finished it. If i had to sum up with book in one sentence it would be “A mixed up bowl of unnecessary drama and storylines. First of all, why would you even date someone who you KNOW is with you because you remind him of your ex-wife? Red flag #1 sis why you just let it slide? This book had so much potential to be a good story but the author needed a solid editor and a clear plan. Let’s just say they both were non-existent. It was obvious that Billionaire was written to be unhinged but that failed miserably. I mean BIG FAIL!! The relationship developed way too quick because we didn’t even get to see them fall in love. The timeline also moved at the speed of light to the point of me not being able to keep up! Too many storylines that were unfinished and it took away from the couple building a bond. Like I don’t even know or understand what is the plot of the book. All I know is I have whiplash. Like why did her ex throw her out for another woman and then follows her to ATL to attack her? Then gets in a a car accident when he was presumed dead but he made it? The he was grabbed and killed. Baby what’s going on? The storyline with the mothers, the maid and the family from Lagos also made no sense. This book was a whole clusterfuck of what the hell? Plus, the way that his mental illness was handled was harmful and problematic. Just the thought of him knowing he needs meds and refusing to take didn’t sit right with me. Why even add the mental health element and handle it so distastefully? Also, content warning is needed for some topics addressed. Overall, I read this book thinking it was going to get better and it didn’t. Content warnings: murder, mental illness, stillborn child, kidnapping
An enthralling , intense, and unique read centered around a love story of the two main characters experiencing grief! His love is one in a billion but so was Giovanna’s love for Billionaire! Read this captivating story that will pull at your heart strings!
The story was good. But.. I wanted a deeper and more connected story. Billion never tripped my 'like' meter, and Giovanna gave that man too many chances. The lady at the condo, and I'm pregnant, No Sir! She could have done better than this unhinged Billion. I liked the story, I did not love it.
No stone was left unturned. The plot was carried all the way through. The characters were layered. This was intense from the beginning and then unfurled. Good read.
This is like a badly written unhinged hood fairytale, one of the super bad Tubi movies made from a cellphone camera. Honestly, it didn't flow right, there wasn't much of a plot, the dialogue and situations sucked. The unchecked mental health issues, when Dameeco beat her up in her house right after she gave birth to their daughter that passed away, why on earth did she not call the police?!?! Her Mother just let that slide, her father and his people was supposedly so powerful and deep they let Dameeco slide twice?!?! That's just one thing, it's a bunch, the constant disrespect of a deceased person, the gloss over of mental health issues, Giavanna really thought she bossed up but she didn't at all. Billion was a spoiled rich boy used to getting his way that really needed to be in a psych ward, his logic made no sense, honestly the book made no sense, please do research before writing BS you really don't know about. And of course the errors were plentiful. Gotta put this author on the dnr list.
I read some pretty f*** up books in my past but this takes the cake. Billion was the epitome of toxic and deranged. He needed severe therapy and medications. Realistically he should've been deemed as unsafe. Mentally he wasn't there. The man was so in love with his deceased wife that he married someone who could've passed as her twin was just creepy. Giavonna wasn't any saint herself. I personally think this girl needs a strong dose of self-love because to be okay with the fact that your HUSBAND was calling you his ex-wife's name any chance he got and you never said anything was degrading. She practically lowered her standard for a husband who was more in tune with his ex-wife than her. This book was horrible if possible I would’ve given it a 0.001/5.
Definitely a 4 1/2 star and a beautiful story at that!!!
First time reading this author and I liked it. This read was definitely a beautiful story and worthy of being giving a 4.50 stars. I couldn’t go any higher only because 1) this was veryyyy hardcore, 2) Giavonna was getting more on my nerves than being off, 3) Billion was so bae but his Alpha had so much issue and was too childish, 4) the oldies were just too much specially Billie and Gerald, and 5) i love me a book that has the gangster, the alphas, the kingpin, the jealousy and even the WHOLE drama and dramatic effect, but the put down, diminishing words, the stomping on one self esteem or degrading words are not for me and I found that this book had it in spade and in abundance. That is a no-no to me!!! That said, I think it was still a beautiful story and it was nice to see not only Giavonna evolution and change but also Billion stopping his insane thoughts that Brielle was back or sent someone to him and also that he recognized that his undying love was misplaced. In any case it was still beautiful underneath and entertaining. Also for once the little breaks in between we’re not too bad as they were short, straight to the point and showed the correlation between the characters. Nice way of spinning it and giving it to us…. 👏👏👏 just beautiful!!!!
The biggest problem with this story is that the main character Giavonna wasn’t someone that I could root for. At age 26 Giovanna was sitting on her ass, allowing a man to isolate her with no job. No education nothing. She presents herself as a victim of a script that she wrote. Her next song was no money given by her paternal relatives should be accepted; but it was OK for it to be all that Dameeko provided her. Trust that there were signs before he blamed her for the death of his seed. Near death didn’t stop the pity party. Missing a toxic man and relationship is not appealing and it didn’t involve sympathy. She just came off as a stupid and lucky woman.
Adults having temper tantrums is a turn off, that reflects immature, emotional maturity their displays were not cool. Lucky woman, then meet the same man in a different state who is the ceased. Wife is buried near her first born. Lucky woman looks like his deceased wife and billionaire Billionaire is taking her resemblance as a sign that she should be his second wife. The convenient all my friends are with your friends is just lazy writing glaring combined with a weak plot resulted in countless eye rolls. For an author to tell you who a character rather show who the character is so can identify the characteristics is less satisfying so was this read.
Omg this book MzLady P is a hit like all of your books from the famous Kenneth family on down ..Billion is definitely a devoted gangster and gentleman with mental illness. However, he controlling with his mind and with love and helped him get through it without him taking medication’s. This book is really touching because it deals with mental illness and family issues within hidden secrets and sometimes you go through things in life that can be challenging.Life has cards we deal as a child and extends onto the adulthood. mental illness is a mild to serious illness Can last through a lifetime. It’s not to be taken lightly. when you can get treatment within with professional counseling or just through a love one and close friends you can trust that will love you just the way you are and willing to change for the individual that loves you for who you are. Love is a choice.
Had the potential, but there were too many red flags
His Love is One in a Billion had the potential but there were too many, way too many red flags. Now I’m all for an urban romance, but Billion was so far from a book bae it was sad! Not only is he a tyrant but he also appears to have an untreated mental health issue known by him and Billie. Keeping females against their will is not cool or romantic at all! Now I may be old school but when is it ok for the main character to smash someone else after storming out after a disagreement? Now don’t get me wrong my rating isn’t all due to Billion, there’s more! Billie and Daria were both on some bull, as was Giavonna’s ex. And all the talk of Billion’s dead ex was a bit much. Not to mention the drama with Giavonna’s parents, Billion’s parents, Mona Lisa and her husband, Jah Jah’s secret, I mean come the hell on!! There’s more, but I’m tired of typing 🤦🏽♀️.
Yes Ms Lady P you always bring the heat and this book was everything I expected to get from you and more. Billion and Giavonna love story was unconventional and complicated at times but the love that transpired between the two of them was explosive. Billion was a lot handle for Giavonna but meeting him gave her the strength she needed to boss up and stop allowing people to walk all over her. Billion played no games when it came to Giavonna and would go toe to toe with the devil behind her and I was here for it all. I don’t want to delve to much into the story and spoil it for others but just know it is definitely worth the download you will not be disappointed!!!
I really don't know where to start. First of all, Mz. Lady P has quite the imagination and throw! This book ran with too many narratives and tropes...it literally could have been a series. Billion alone needs a series by himself--his mental demons, his mother's secrets, his African connection, his profession, the connection to his businesses and partners, etc. Some portions were unrealistic such as his ex-mother in law doing a drive by shooting and the craziness behind the mom and family. I was overwhelmed trying to keep up with the numerous changes...so many dynamics and not enough build up for the love between the main characters. I've read some good Mz. Lady P but found this to not be the best in her arsenal.
I love the craziness of Billion, he was certifiable. I enjoyed reading this but it had a few grammar errors and mistakenly using the wrong character name but it wasn't to bad, just noticeable. I just was so disappointed when Billion cheated on Giavonna and to find out he often cheated on Brielle the love of his life was a shock, that just shows a man will be a man no matter how he profess his love, he still can't be true blue. But I think he has learned his lesson this go around. I also want to know, how this man is a crazy, mean, azz kingpin, who can lock his house down like a vault, has tunnels under his homes, a safe rooms when there are threats, but his cars aren't bulletproof??? I was just wondering, but overall this was a pretty good story.
This was my first time reading Mz. Lady P's work. Her writing is good but this book was just average for me. I will definitely try other books of hers.
There were multiple POVs with couples that I honestly didn't care about. I feel like had the other couples been slowly introduced or been more present before their POVs, that would have been better. That way I would actually care about what was happening in their lives.
The first time Giavonna and Billion said "I love you" to each other I genuinely didn't get. I didn't feeling their chemistry. Throughout the book I didn't see how I was met to like them together. But they worked out, they grow.
This is my first read by this author that I’ve heard so much about and It was not quite what I was expecting. It started off very realistic but quickly went left for me. The main character Is a billionaire but didn’t have connections and didn’t even have around the clock security. He drove himself everywhere. His only team was his 2 friends. Gia moved to her Dad’s city and she gets bank immediately from him and a grandmother she doesn’t even know.? Her cousin gets 3 months on house arrest for a gun that wasn’t even hers? And only 3 months? It was all just very unrealistic.
Oh my‼️ Billion was a whole lot. He did the most and then some. This was as toxic as it gets but I enjoyed Every page. Giavonna truly got on my last nerve as well as her mama but that’s par for the course. I felt so bad for Dana but being the boss that she is I knew she would come out on top. This is an extremely interesting book. Something is always going on. Wish the epilogue was different though. If you’re into that bad boss gangsta lover then Billion and his story is it.
This was an okay read, not what I'm used to from this writer. The story starts off with so much promise and so where along the way it gets lost. A third way through the story it seems like everything gets hysterical and its a lot of running around and also I'm not the biggest fan of Insta love. Also the leading lady of the story starts getting on your nerves with all the crying and whining. This was an okay story but there are times when you see some really stellar moments.
Mz. Lady P another banger from you. Billion and Giavonna was made for each other. They both had to go through loss to make it to the other side. Now, Billion is crazy as hell. He definitely needs to be on meds, but like you said Giavonna is his peace. All of the grandparents were straight crazy. I know those family reunions are something else. Now, we need to see what's going on with Shaad, Mona Lisa, Deuce and Jah-Jah. Ready for more.
I’m not really sure how to take this book. I know a lot of read to escape but this a was a realistic story not fantasy that just seemed so far fetched. Could just be my personal feelings but you don’t play around with mental health, if someone is prescribed medication then they should take it, there is nothing wrong with getting help. I can’t even remember the name of the FMC, that a testament of my bad memory and the little connection I had with her.
I didn't know what to expect when I first saw this book. The first chapter regarding Giovanna and the horrible hospital scene got me hooked. I couldn't put this book down. Billionaire still is an enigma. Their love story will make you laugh, cry, angry, on the edge of your and cheer. Great story, awesome and reliable characters. I hope to read more from this author. Trust me, you will not regret purchasing this book.
Wooow this book is a must read!!! We you first start reading your not sure what to expect, I was so sad for the main character to loss everything at once but sometimes that’s just how life is. But baby the move to a new state was just her glow up! Baby Lady P your are the GOAT once again you have a 10 Star on your haves!!!
Mz. Lady P,you went all out on this standalone. Billionaire was hit mess but he was a beast as well. Giovanna had such a bad start at the beginning but she's shining. I can't belive that Daria would do that to Billionaire after all he's has done for her. But greed is wicked. Anyway this was a dope read suga.
OMG, I was sad, emotional, and elated all at the same time. I love that Giavonna grew into the woman that she is, she stood her ground and let him know!!! I also love seeing Billion in beast mode. One thing for certain and two for sure Mz. Lady P is always going to show you how a real woman can humble any man. I love that!
Gia has so many issues in her life. She has tho move to start fresh to heal. Billion has mental issues, trust and loyalty issues. Both end up in Atlanta Old wounds are open, secrets are known feels are hurt, killing happen, rescues happen. Billion n Gia learn to trust with loyalty, heal and become a family.
When I say you didn't miss a beat, you did not miss a beat. Billion was Bae for sure. He came in a shut everything down. It took a strong woman to hold him down and he had the right in baby. Mz.Lady P you did your Thang with this book. Billie was that chick, and she loved and protected her son like no other! This book could not be put down. 10 stars.
It was nice to read this book being that I’m familiar with Billion and Bria story. I loved how Mz. Lady P brought Giavonni into Billions life not to change him but to make him whole again. This book was great because they both needed each other and with the family they created it bonded their entire family together. Please read it’s a great one
Honestly, the book ended for me when Giovanna found out what Billion was up to in that hotel. I’d have been OUT. This book started off good but then drifted off track as they introduced more characters. Billion started off sounding well spoken and became a bit ghetto towards the end. The book lost its way in my opinion and the epilogue was weak.
I'm rating this book..five stars...its been a while since I have read a book by this author...And I can truthfully say I was not disappointed.... I'm not going to spoil the book by giving away too many details...I will say ..you will not be disappointed... You will cry and laugh.... Its worth every dollar..enjoy
