In 1977 Nigel Timms left Durham University with a degree in music but no way of earning a living, until he realised that his driving licence was his most useful for the next two years he worked for United Automobiles, driving buses around County Durham. This book recounts the adventures he had as he came to terms with his new environment; finding out how to drive the massive poppy red vehicles, learning the complicated routes, and getting to know his new colleagues. Full of incident, and often very funny, this account of one young man's transition from gown to town presents a picture of a by-gone they did things differently in those days!
