i don't know what to say, i would not be able to say anything other than praises when my favourite BL mangaka has published something......... sighs dreamily what can i say i love the story. it's more silly than what takahashi normally does but it's still got it!
Vol. 1 (Chapters 1–10.5) Genre: BL, Romantic Comedy, Crime Drama
Let me start by saying—Hana and Gin are charming. Their chemistry is immediate, magnetic, and just the right mix of sweet and chaotic. This BL romantic comedy takes the familiar trope of opposites attract and layers it with crime drama, undercover work, and a heavy dose of unresolved tension.
The series follows two former police officers: Hanai, who’s joined the yakuza, and Gin, now a private detective. I wasn’t expecting the BL elements to be this strong—not just in subtext, but in almost every character dynamic. It’s wild how every man seems to want Hanai, but honestly… he is fine as hell, so I get it to a degree.
What surprised me most was how well the series handles emotional depth. Hanai, secretly still working undercover, adds an unexpected twist. His internal conflict—being torn between duty and his growing feelings for Gin—gives the story real weight. He's meant to keep his emotions in check while keeping tabs on his own yakuza clan and the other clans' actions in the meantime.. However, it's looking like those feelings for his buddy Gin are not just flirtation; there’s something sincere simmering beneath the surface.
Chapter 9 really stuck with me. When Hanai says, "A man dying in love may not be such a bad thing," it hit different. He’s conflicted, sure, but it’s obvious he’s catching real feelings for the cute detective Gin. It's moments like that that give this series heart beyond its humor and hotness.
All in all, Volume 1 sets a solid foundation. It’s lusty, dramatic, and surprisingly thoughtful. I do hope there will be more light shed on Gin and his coming to accept his sexual orientation and working through his own feelings towards Hanai and getting them through. As it stands, Gin is pretty much happy-go-lucky but a flat character. We know little of his motivations and character other than loving Hanai. I’ll be continuing the series, even if it takes me a bit to dig into the next volume as it comes out slowly.
