I picked this up after watching some of the videos from the RomGothSam channel on YT -- so many that I forget exactly when it came up. The blurb mentions both 'medieval' and 'witchcraft' and I am here to say that I am disappointed on both counts. The 'medieval' is an American house with 'medieval' items decorating it and 'medieval' used to describe anything dark and damp. And witchcraft is nonexistent: it's an Ann Radcliffe/Scooby Doo supernatural outcome, alas -- more like a manor house murder mystery with the slightest of goth trappings. Lots of sea men. Really LOL. But at least I have a copy with the gorgeous Marchetti cover, so there's that.

Trappings of a gothic, but really a classic “all the potential heirs gather together and murders start happening” mystery. Overwritten and overwrought, but fun!
