Her last memory is of her violent death, and now she's screaming for vengeance. He's a Laird with enough sins to stain his soul, but he's cursed for the crimes of another. With a clan divided, an impending marriage, and whispers of dark magic threatening the Highlands, a tempting Banshee is the last thing he needs in his chambers.
Kylah -
She was brutalized and burned alive, but denied her vengeance by a cruel twist of fate. He's a ruthless and brilliant Druid driven mad by his quest for retribution. Two Souls have lost themselves in the tormented secrets of the past and can only find redemption in the dangerous desires they thought long dead.
Kamdyn -
She's a Banshee assassin who's not yet killed a man, and her first mark had a carnal proposition too seductive to resist. He's the notorious Laird of Shadows, a rogue Berserker terrorizing the Highlands in search of a warrior's death. When a mistaken kiss binds their souls together, she must prove that love, not fear, changes the course of destiny. Because if she doesn't, she'll have to slay him or face unthinkable consequences.
If you're anything like me, the best night is one spent with a brawny highlander, a mysterious werewolf, a conflicted vampire, or a hot-headed Irishman. My stories span the spectrum of romantic fiction from historical, to paranormal, to romantic suspense. But I can always promise my readers one thing: memorable and sexy Celtic heroes who are guaranteed to heat your blood before they steal your heart. Lose yourself in the enchanted Celtic Isles, you never know who, or what, will find you...
This was a very good novella trilogy! Book 2, RELEASED was an absolute winner for me-5 stars! I was very impressed by the collection. The characters were surprisingly complex and we'll developed. As were the plots. I enjoyed this very much and highly recommend all three sets of trilogies. Especially if you enjoy Historical PNR.
Suggested reading order: INVOKED, UNLEASHED, RECLAIMED. Each book contains three related novellas, but each has an ending with no cliffhanger. All the books in each trilogy set are also available individually. All available in Kindle Unlimited as of 12/16/2018
This book also has three separate stories. All three are about Banshees, the MacKay sisters who want vengenance after they were burned by the evil Laird.
The first one is Katrionia and Rory - he loved her since they were young. She is the non-virgin heroine, but she was not the one raped. There's is a good story,.
The second one is Kailyn(??) and Dacon?? - She was the one raped by the evil Laird and his men. We don't see it, it all happened off the page. Sweet story.
The third one is the last sister and a Berserker which was by far my fave of the three. Good series!
A screaming good time! I read all these stories when they were released individually and loved them so much that I had to buy them again in the set. The second read-through was even better than the first. Do yourself a favor and buy this bundle of sexy Highlanders and the Banshees who are out for vengeance and end up with love instead. Extremely well done.
I love the way Kerrigan Byrne tells her stories they are so well written. I prefer that the sex wasn't so quick I like the Hero and Heroine to get to know each other first but that's just my preference. The stories are very different with Banshees and a lot of excitement.
I'm reminded of the screaming meemee tales I was told as a child. Terrified me to death so I wasn't sure going into this if they were for me. I was pleasantly surprised.
RELEASED: Katriona and Royce. Cursed for the sins of his father and twin brother, Royce is wracked with guilt. A ghostly Katriona has come to collect and Royce unwittingly becomes her target when he reveals his twin is no longer alive on his order, thwarting Katriona's quest for vengeance, banshee style. Bah could have done without the marriage or the body replacement thing, never was my favourite turn of events.
REDEEMED: Kylah and Daroch the Druid or Daroch mud face McLeod. My favourite of the three. Having met him once already an intense fascination to know more about the Druid drove Kylah to hunt him down to his cave. At first Daroch wanted nothing to do with Kylah and her irritating curiosity, he couldn't afford the distraction, not to his mind, not to his body and not to his quest for vengeance against the Fae for exterminating his race.
Her eyes fixed on the string of shells at his temple and followed the long strand down to his chest. "Why?"
If she asked that question one more fucking time...
Vengeance quests mixed with hilarity. Love the combination.
RELUCTANT: Kamdyn and Soren the Berserker. Kamdyn is ordered by the Fae Queen to kill Soren because he's out doing dastardly deeds that no one understands. Kamdyn tells Soren of her deadly mission surprised that he's unafraid to face death, even welcomes it. Of course Kamdyn is curious about the Berserker and delays are inevitable while they get to know each other better, a whole lot better if you get my drift.
Someone mentioned these are a spin off yet I didn't feel I'd lost anything by reading these alone. Still I'll be watching out for anything else that floats by from this author.
Reclaimed I was telling myself all through this story that I wasn’t going to like the end because as a banshee she was already dead. But I continued on and I’m so glad I did. What a great little story. You couldn’t help but love Catriona, even as she tried again and again to kill Rory while she also desired him. I did like Queen Cliodnah. And Lorne was really kind of funny, he was just no capable of talking quietly. I was sooo glad that they didn’t go to the stable for “straps and whips and whatever apparatus may catch our fancy,” until the very last two pages. Their one sex scene was very, very nice and I didn’t want it ruined with whips and other crap. 5 stars.
Redeemed Another great story. This time about Kylah and Daroch. It was a very nice story but I’m sure glad Daroch finally washed and stopped putting that mud all over himself. Nothin’ appealing in that. Some nice sex in this but no sexual tension to speak of. And, boy, again that Queen Cliodnah and her killing minion Ly Erg were really something. So, the next one is the last one and I can’t wait for Kamdyn’s story. 5stars
Reluctant I was beginning to think that this book was only going to have Soren and Kamdyn as the only players, it went on so long with just the two of them. And I really wouldn’t have minded, either. Their conversations and were quite funny and entertaining. LOL.. Kamdyn wasn’t much of a killer. And the MacLauchlan’s turned out to be a little less than blood-thirsty (and Lindsay was pretty smart.) I wasn’t crazy about their first sex scene because it was so violent but I could overlook it because it was such a cute story. It was nice to see Rory and Daroch again. 4 stars.
I got this book free with my KindleUnlimited but I would have gladly paid for it.
Love this author! I thoroughly enjoy a good Highland tale. Banshees and Berserkers and Druids, oh my! A woman was forced to watch her daughter be defiled by the Laird and his men and then she and her daughters were burned alive. Her daughters perished in the flames, but she survived. Before the embers faded, she uttered a plea to the Fae Queen for her daughters to have their due revenge and thus, the three became Banshees...for a price. Three tales, one for each of the daughters murdered, are in this compilation. Each is charged with finding and killing their murderer. These are laced with mysticism, lore and the paranormal. Searing romance is woven in deftly. What awaits these three in their quests? You'll have to read it to find out.
I just have to say, that the author's writing skill seemingly transported me into the story and I saw and felt everything the author described. What a journey! Thank you, dear author!
Lusty and Sexually Graphic so mature readers only.
AUDIOBOOK: listen to 27 & 28 December 2013 19hrs 13min.
Narrator: Derek Perkins does a fantastic job of it. Released...Rory & Katriona...Like this one more than the first set (3in1) in the series. I would give it a 4 star rating.
Redeemed...Kylah & Daroch the Druid...Really like Kylah her innocence makes her real in some ways and she makes us laugh because of it. Like the way she calls him Daroch "Mud Face" Mc Cleod. Also a 4 star
Reluctant...Soren & Kamdyn...Laird of the Shadows was a mean Beserker but Little Banshee Kamdyn brought him back on the good side instead of doing what she was told. This one went to fast to quick and to easy but Kamdyn was really well developed so this one also gets a 4 star.
4.5 This was so great! I loved the first trilogy about the Berserkers and this one was no different. I loved the way the Banshees were written. These three sisters died in a horrific fire and were turned into Banshees to seek vengeance on those who hurt them. So freaking good! I think the second story about Kylah and Daroch the druid was my favorite. But the other two were really good as well. This author has a way with writing about the Highlands and I loved it.
I enjoyed this. Three short novella's on the life of 3 sisters who are now banshee's. I wasn't disappointed. The first two stories were great and just when I thought that they didn't need the third, I thought it was almost too much, it ended well at the second. But the third one goes and is just as good as the other two. I liked them all.
I really enjoyed this trilogy. I enjoyed the chemistry between the banshee's and their mates. The trying emotions they had to work with. The possibilities of the unknown but more importantly their fierce love for family.
Another BookBub deal. The first novellas in the trilogy seemed more thought out and put together than the last. It would have been interesting to see this expanded into novels where Byrne could have explored the plots more in depth.
This is an OK set of paranormal romance novellas, but I did wish the stories had been a little longer, to allow for more character development. I didn't think these novellas were as good as the ones in the first Highland Magic Collection (To Seduce a Highlander). This boxed set gets 3 stars from me.
I enjoyed the creative paranormal content in these novellas, but had a hard time liking some of the characters. The heroes in the last two novellas were difficult to like -- one was grouchy and rude to the h, and the other was just incredibly and unapologetically violent. My favorite was the first one, with Rory and Katriona, mostly because I thought Rory was the most likable hero. I would have liked more backstory on all the characters in all three novellas, though.
I will be reading the last boxed set in the series, To Wed a Highlander. It will be interesting to see what the author does with Druids, since her take on Berserkers and Banshees was so creative.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
I loved this trilogy involving the three MacKay banshee sisters. Each story got better than the last. I wasn't expecting the plot twist toward the end of the first story, which involved Katriona and Rory. The second story, involving Kylah, who'd been brutally raped before her death, and Daroch, who had a dark past of this own as well as shameful secrets, was emotion-filled and very satisfying. My favorite story though was of Kamdyn and Soren, the man she's sent to assassinate. There was a very pleasing mixture of tenderness and humor throughout it. There were several places where a small word (a, the, of, etc.) was missing in the text, but those seemed to be the only proofreading errors I found, and they weren't significant enough to hamper my enjoyment of these stories.
The first three books in this series was about berserkers. This series is about banshees.
Katriona was murdered by Angus, she and her sisters were burned alive. And their mother’s anger called the fae queen to her. She struck a deal to keep her daughters with her for a little longer, they would become banshees and take revenge on their murderers.
Katriona was tasked with taking Rory’s life. Rory, brother to Angus, was not their that night. But she’s sure he would have joined in. He wasn’t there to stop it. And despite the attraction that had always bloomed between the two of them, or maybe because of it Katriona will make him pay.
Good loooord, what is this?! The first story with the banshee was fine. But the second?! Umm, why Kerrigan, why!!???
You, author of some of my favourite series! Why!?
Is just boring and a bit unrealistic. The whole metal thing is just mind numbingly boring and also, really? A four year old remembers EVERYTHING her father taught her about metals? Four? Wao! I didn't understand the story. The rudeness of the sourcerer was unwarranted or explained. So I lost interest.
Such a great collection of three stories in the one sitting of the Mackay Banshees. To Desire a Highlander was a paranormal/magical page turning passionate fiesta by Kerrigan Byrne.
All three sisters have met violent deaths and have become Banshees - Katriona, Kylah and Kamdyn all end up tempting fate and finding love with warriors of the Highlands!
I had read the first set a while ago so I did have some difficulty remembering the characters and situations, not that I had to to enjoy this set. I don't read many plots that involve Fae, berserkers and Druids so this was interesting on that level. Pots of rules and laws and such!
AWESOME! Another great by by author Kerrigan Byrne! This book is about Banshees! As with her first book (To Seduce A Highlander: Clan MacLauchlan Berserkers) this one is in the same style. She doesn't mince words and the action starts right away! She pulls you into the story and you are in for a great ride!
Quotes from the book I am contemplating: "Every soul, every scream, every emotion leaves an echo in this world." "Their laughter tangled with the sea breeze and carried across the moors by ribbons of celestial color."
If you really enjoy the full on magic and fantasy books revolving around people coming back from the dead you will no doubt enjoy these books. It is not my favourite style though it was not on my list of unfinishable and it does have happy endings. It is well written, just not entirely my thing.
