Tonight was supposed to be one last game. What she never expected was that it might be her last. Mary Locke wanted tonight to be simple. Get in and get out. She had her sights set on saying her goodbyes and leaving. What she didn't plan for her night to spiral into something else. Sebastian Calyx didn't even want to come tonight. But with his friends practically dragging him with, he has no other choice. What he didn't expect was for his Little Rebel to flip his world upside down even more than she already has.
I really.. I really disliked Sebastian!! He hurt and broke up with Mary because he "caught" her cheating on him. For a year, Mary has been trying to talk to him and try to listen to her, but he calls her every name in the book and doesn't want to be around her.
And poor Mary, she didn't even cheat. She was drugged by Sebastian, so she called friends to make her look like she did, and he left her there to be raped. Yes, his so-called friends raped her. She's still dealing with the truama, and she's done. She's at the game night one last time to say goodbye she's done. But the past comes back, and this triggers Mary and has Sebastian comforting her and still confused why she would have a panic attack.. and saying to her one night. They fuck and he basically tosses her out. Until he almost loses her for him to see what truly happened to her. Like I said love a guy who kill for someone but I feel he needed to grovel more.

Are you me in the need of a short "I would burn this world for you" type of read? This is it!
We have Mary and Sebastian aka Seb and we started with the destruction of their relationship. Even though what lingers in the air of this is unease and unsaid words.
That all changes on game night. Where Seb's love for Mary is put to the test.
My main takeaway for this story was: BELIEVE WOMEN.
All in all, I enjoyed the story, but I felt that there was so much left unexplained about the characters. What's the deal with these guys? What caused them to be so dark and violent, so easily able to kill people (even ones who are deserving)? How did Mary and Seb develop before the catalyst of this story? Mary seemed so unsurprised by the darkness in Seb, but all of the flashbacks to them when they were younger were so tame, light, and cute. Something feels off.
I also wanted more begging for forgiveness on the part of Seb. It wasn't just the assaulters who put Mary through hell.
Essentially, I would have rated this higher if more things were explained. Perhaps this could have been a full length novel, with all the set up necessary for me to understand the characters and who they actually are.
I was so intrigued by them. I just wanted more.

Who doesn’t love revenge with a side of spice? I definitely do and that’s what this book delivered. Don’t get me wrong it was tough, and if that first sentence caught your attention then make sure to check TW’s before diving in because trust me when I say after what Mary goes through, her revenge is well deserved.
As a novella, this was great & fast paced enough that it didn’t feel rushed towards the end, however, it was also so good that I am left wanting more so if this becomes a full novel I’d be the first to snatch it up.
I’m recommending this book to those readers who are currently in a book hangover after reading an epic enemies to lovers with revenge vibes and need something to bring them back; I reckon this novella would do just that. But also to those who want a quick read with the vibe “I didn’t know what I had till I nearly lost it, and I’ll end those who tried to tear us apart.” - that’s definitely this 😉
Please make sure you check your trigger warnings and content warnings before reading
Bloody Mary follows Mary who went through something traumatic and horrible and now she is dealing with keeping this secret inside. Ever since it happened she has completely become a shell of the person she once was. She has shut out not only her best friends but her boyfriend Seb. No one understands why she is being so distant and took time off school. When she gets called into the Deans office thinking he just wants to talk... But little does she know he has a mission of his own and now Mary feels even more stuck.
All she wants to do is go away. Make everything that happened go away and just go back to how things used to be. All she wants to do is talk to Seb and tell him the truth.
Seb doesn't understand what happened one minute everything was fine and the next he hasn't heard from Mary in two weeks. Every time he sees her she looks so pale, scared and paranoid. He just wishes he could take her pain away but she betrayed him. He will do whatever it takes to make her hate him, she can't just erase him and pretend something didn't happen.
The way this novella had my emotions rolling I can't even begin to say it did. All Mary wanted to do was tell Seb everything that happened so she could feel safe again. I loved watching Mary get her power back and take her life back from those who took it. The way I just wanted to reach into my kindle and shake Seb and tell him seriously do you think Mary would hurt you on purpose. There is something going on with her and you need to put the pieces together.
Please check the TW/CW — this book is dark and definitely not for the fainthearted!
Bloody Mary by A. Rayne had me hooked from the start. It’s a short read, but the writing is sharp, gripping, and emotional. I loved every bit of this story.
Mary was brave and strong, and I felt every ounce of her trauma, emotions, and pain. I just wanted to wrap her in a hug. The way she hid the truth to protect Sebastian was heartbreaking, and watching her take back her power and claim her revenge was incredibly satisfying.
Sebastian was heartbroken, thinking Mary had cheated on him, which led him to act like an ass — but even then, he still protected her. He was very “touch her and die,” even when they weren’t together, and I loved that about him. I was just waiting for him to finally understand what Mary had endured. And the spice? Sizzling. Their chemistry was undeniable.
I also loved the way Mary’s friends protected her and looked out for each other. That loyalty added so much heart to the story.
If you want a quick, dark, and twisty read with a Bloody Mary edge and plenty of spice, I absolutely recommend this one
Thank you to A. Rayne for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
this is the second novella i’ve read from miss Rayne and she is definitely becoming an auto buy/read author for me! i love her writing style and stories 🫶🏻 this was so good!! i love Sebastian (Seb) and Mary so much plus their friend group! my poor baby Mary deserves the biggest hug, what she went through was horrible. i had so much female rage and i’m glad she got her revenge!! her and Seb also broke up bc of what happened. he’s confused as to why she’s shutting everyone out and how she became a shell of who she was. they try to hate each other but their love is so strong they both know they never stood a chance at ignoring each other. when the truth comes out later on, it changes everything. Seb is so protective and possessive, doing everything he can to protect her from the vile people around her. and i loved seeing Mary show her fiery, badass side. i truly love them so much, their love is unconditional and their chemistry is amazing 🥹 i definitely recommend checking this out! ︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶ one of my fav quotes from the book:
“He makes me forget all logic. Everything about Sebastian Calyx ignites a dormant fire within me with almost no effort.” 🔥
Bloody Mary was a dark, emotional roller coaster that grabbed me by the heart from page one. This story is drenched in pain, power, and perfectly executed revenge, the kind of journey that makes you hurt, hope, and root for the heroine every step of the way. Mary has endured far more than anyone ever should, and the way her trauma is written is raw and heartbreaking. But what makes this book shine is how she slowly, fiercely claws her power back. Her strength doesn’t come easy, and that makes every victory hit even harder.
Seb’s pain is woven just as deeply, and the writing makes you feel everything they’re both carrying, their heartbreak, their rage, their longing, and the impossible choices that shaped them. The emotional weight between them is heavy, but beautifully crafted.
The revenge arc? Absolutely delicious. Dark, satisfying, and undeniably earned. This book gave me everything I love in a reclamation story: grit, emotion, empowerment, and characters who stay with you long after the last page.
A. Rayne delivers a dark, raw, soul-crushing novella. Bloody Mary is a journey of survival. Of overcoming trauma. And rebuilding what was once broken.
Mary and Seb are torn apart after she is drugged, assaulted and blackmailed to keep it quiet. Seb is left thinking Mary cheated, and she’s afraid of what will happen to Seb if she tells him the truth.
And when the light finally shines on the truth, that’s when our story takes on a dark, vengeful, bloody tone. Seb’s mission is to destroy the men who hurt Mary. To help her find her voice and her strength. After all, what kind of man would Seb be if he didn’t help Mary destroy her monsters?
Sometimes I need a quick, raw, emotional story. And, man o man, Bloody Mary hit the spot. Mary and Seb’s story is not for the faint of heart. So, if you can handle the warnings, I’d encourage anyone who enjoys the occasional novella to give it a read!

I received an advanced copy. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I got this book in exchange for my honest review. Mary and Sebastian never have had an easy walk in life but MARY. OH MY GOD. This woman walks through hell, kicks the devil in the shins, and comes back swinging with a revenge arc that had me CHEWING THROUGH DRYWALL. I wanted to wrap her in a blanket AND help her pick which weapon sparkles prettiest for vengeance SEBASTIAN??? This man is a full-time menace and a part-time emotional disaster. Acting like a feral raccoon because he THINKS she cheated, but still out here like “touch her and DIE” even when he’s mad as hell?? BABE. SEEK THERAPY. ALSO NEVER CHANGE 😩🔥 When the truth drops and they basically become a two-person murder tornado??? I ascended. I slammed into the astral plane. I became a shrieking Victorian ghost but hotter. This novella is short, bloody, spicy, chaotic, and had me giggling, kicking, and biting the air like a rabid book gremlin. I devoured it. If you can handle the warnings, read it. If you can’t, read it anyway and LET IT CORRUPT YOU 😌🩸🔥

Wow, I definitely wasn't expecting to need an entire box of tissues for at least the first half of the book! It was definitely a very emotional book but I absolutely 💯 loved everything about it! The relationship between Mary & Seb was heartbreakingly beautiful. Mary especially had been through so much at such a young age but fortunately she found Seb & they were able to find strength in each other. Their relationship however, would be ripped to shreds & it would take a tragic situation to repair it!
This book is definitely one that will stay with you for a long time to come! For it being a shorter length book it certainly packed a punch! It had just the right amount of spice (I'd say about 2 ½ 🌶) where it didn't overshadow the main plot. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a quick dark & suspenseful romance read that will give the same emotional connection to the characters as if you read a 400 page novel!
DESCRIPTION: Mary tried for a year to get the love of her life back. For him to only listen to her. He thought she did things and betrayed him. However, that is so far from the truth.
Sebastian assumed things about Mary that mad him turn cold towards her. He would not listen to her or her friends. He didn’t want to hear it, he thought he new the truth and that was it.
Until one fateful night that brought everything to light. He finds out the truth…
MY THOUGHTS: This book is a Novella. Going into it I thought it was about Bloody Mary. However, it takes a different spin. Definitely check the trigger warnings on this book. Overall, I thought it was good. There are some words left out that I had to figure out what the author ment but other then that it was cute and a fast read. It’s a dark/“horror” romance book.
This was such a quick read but it fully grabbed me. I was hooked right away and honestly had a great time with it. Mary went through everything and then some, and I felt for her so much. I loved seeing her finally get to take her power back. She deserved that win.
Seb… listen. He absolutely could have tried harder. He was stubborn and dramatic for no reason and I wanted to shake him more than once. But he also thought she cheated, so I get why he spiraled. He still gets a tiny pass because he stayed that “touch her and die” man even when they weren’t together, and that automatically makes him a menace I enjoy.
It was emotional, bloody, spicy and fun. I loved the Bloody Mary twist, loved the revenge, and honestly I just ate this whole thing up. Quick, chaotic, and exactly the kind of dark little story I always fall for.
I was selected as an ARC reader for this book. Now I may be behind on my review but I hope I’m not! This book gave Kade and Stacy vibes! Childhood friends to lovers. Dark twists and turns happen in this book and yes I was teary eyed in parts!!! Our girl Mary (FMC) rough background but she had her best friend Sebastian. These two and their friend group in college face some things I wish no one had to! Mary is under the impression she should leave after what happens. Seb (Sebastian) filled with hatred anger and a misunderstanding fights Mary on it. Their friend group is thick as thieves; Roman, Maddie, Damon, Ace, and Tate. Our MMC Seb. He comes across as a hot headed golden retriever who has a dark twisted side! He will burn the world down for Mary!!! I didn’t know what to expect for this book but boy A. Raine killed it and I can’t wait for book two!!!!
Read the newest version of Bloody Mary and I loved it for everything it was. It was a novella, please don’t go into this book thinking you’re getting a ton of plot, character development and lots of spice. But also know this, this book is not lacking!!
This is such a great story of love and overcoming trauma. Showing that when love is real it will always be more powerful than hate.
Please read your triggers!!! This is very trauma heavy, with self-harm aspects and su!c!de. There is bullying and grape and can be triggering.
I love how A. Rayne writes the trauma and blackmail because people go through things like this all the time and it isn’t easy to overcome, but Mary does more than survive!
This book where to I start! I love Seb he is such a touch her and die mmc regardless if they were on the outs or not🖤
This book brings you through the feels, it had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The silent yearning between the fmc and mmc breaks your heart, because they love eachother, but Mary is protecting him by withholding the truth and he is shattered by the choices he thinks the only woman he loves did. I finished this is one sitting because I neeeeeded to know what happened and how it ended. I loveeeee the empowerment Mary had at the end of the book, and how Seb encourages. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I will be recommending it for days to come ! Also can we have more of Seb and Mary. 🖤

I don’t know what I was expecting but it definitely wasn’t this emotional rollercoaster. A Rayne has always known how to pull on my heart strings with her books. these two wrecked me. I couldn’t get enough and I binged it in one sitting. I am obsessed with the game night series and this little novella will forever hold a special place in my heart. I am obsessed with this couple and I need a full length novel. this is everything.
The way I’m going to be talking about this novella for a long time! There is so much to say about Bloody Mary but I just won’t say it because I don’t want it spoiled for anyone who wants to read this book. The writing was amazing!
I hurt for Mary and what she was put through and what she did for the one she loved more than herself. The miscommunication was top tier and as a reader I felt everything that Seb and Mary went through and their personal battles during this short read. I wish I could read this novella for the first time again honestly. Happy reading!
I’m not sure I would call this a romance. For me this is a dark story about a girl with secrets and lies trying to do what’s best for everyone but herself…however it’s also her journey of her taking her power back.
This follows Mary from the worst night of her life and the next 6 months to a year that follows after.
I almost wish you saw more of Marys story prior to that night I feel like that would have helped me connect to her more. I did like this story enough to finish it. It does have really dark and triggering themes so please check your triggers for this one.
Things you can expect:
🖤 Bully elements by MMC and non MMC ✨Mental Health Struggles 🖤Blood Play ✨Second Chance-ish 🖤Love to Hate to Love (one sided) ✨Touch Her and ☠️
I don’t even know where to start with this book. One night changed everything for a lot of people. Bloody Mary follows the aftermath of that one night with Mary and Seb. Struggling alone, Mary tries to be strong and do what she thinks is right. Seb while I loved him and can understand his pov, infuriated me at times, but what’s done in the dark will always come to light.
This is a quick dark romance novella, and I was sad when it was over! I want more of this friend group! Cause I got questions about Roman and Ace!
Idk.. It’s very catching in the beginning, but the end kinda feels rushed and not 100% “logical” to me. At one point he acts like he still hates her and the next second he has her in his arms and is the one apologising🫠I mean I totally get it but as I said it felt too rushed and I would’ve loved it a little longer and more detailed in the end part. I also feel like the end scene is a bit disappointing but I overall liked the book and would definitely tell people about it and suggest it to them!!🫶🏻

I was gripped from the beginning, it was utterly freaking good. I love the bloody Mary twist to this.... 😤 Tyler & Anthony got what they deserved, ughh but Seb lawwdd his point of view was everything, “I would burn this world to the ground for you, Rebel" me melting 🫠 fantastic writing, I'm left wanting more, It was a quick read with so much emotion, a good amount of spice and a bloody great ending.
Mary will have you ready to pull your hair out! I was the person yelling at the book like I'm not the one reading it! This miscommunication trope was intricately woven throughout the story. Seb was exactly right. His reaction was perfect every time. Don't forget this is a dark romance so... But with all the drama that goes down our girl does eventually get the strength to straighten her spine. When she does she owns her power!
I received this book early and absolutely devoured it! I couldn’t put it down. I really went through all the emotions with this book and I really enjoyed it. Mary is a tough cookie and Seb 🥵🌶️. Kinda had a love/hate relationship with him…but to he fair he didn’t know all the facts. I kept thinking the whole time..JUST TELL HIM!!!!! I love you the ending though. Definitely a must read!
A RAYNE DID IT AGAIN!!! . I love pretty much any book she has come out with and this one is no exception! The way my heart strings were pulled when Seb found Mary practically unaliving in the tub!? Literally teared up in fear she wasn’t going to make it! . I love you and I’m so proud of the work you put out because I EAT IT UP EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!!!

This little quickie was so good. A. Rayne is becoming one of my favorite new authors! Quick, dark and nasty! I love it. This series of novellas past off party games is my new obsession!
I really enjoyed this book. I really felt for Mary and even cried for her. My only wish would be more character context to be able to know them more. Also, more groveling from Sabastian. But I also loved Mary being the one to get to take her power back.
Quick read but I loved it! Sure Seb could have tried harder to figure out whay was wrong with Mary and he didnt have to be such an ass to her all that time but he did think she cheated. But he still gets a slight pass since he was still a "touch her and d!e" man even when they weren't together.

⚠️Now with this one I feel like I need to start with disclaimers. In this story there are pretty dark topics like Non-con, r4p3 (not the MMC), anxiety, panic attacks and more. So it’s totally fine if you feel like it’s to much for you. Your mental health is important so read the TW please!⚠️
Ok now with that being said let’s get into the review!
As always @authora knows how to keep me glued to a book.. I read this in one sitting and when I finished it I realized it was 3 am. But I have no regrets 😅
I think that now it’s common knowledge that I’m not a fan of miscommunication (actually it frustrates me so much), but I feel like there are a few exceptions where it makes sense and dark romance is one of them.
I felt both Mary and Seb’s pain. Mary was so brave, she dealt with something terrible and traumatic and hid the truth to protect the only person that she loved, but ended up breaking his heart.
Seb was completely heartbroken thinking Mary cheated on him. He was a complete ass ngl, but he was also struggling with his own pain believing that the only person he loved broke his trust.
The ending was amazing, but I’m not going to say anything about it because I don’t want to spoil it for you 😏!
So if you want a quick and dark romance story I think this is perfect for you!
