Should some secrets remain buried?

Dusty has always been a hothead, far more impulsive than her twin, Nick, the calm, cool and collected one of the pair. But Nick is dead, found murdered in their local cemetery, and Dusty simply can’t rest until she finds out who–or what–has killed her brother.

Sure the local authorities aren’t being straight with her–or anyone else–about what’s been going on in their little upper Michigan town, Dusty delays going off to college for a semester, defying her father and stepmother and taking a job in the local bar to start doing some digging.

Her focus soon fixes on Shane, her brother’s best friend and the town bad boy. The tension and rivalry between Dusty and Shane has always been palpable and sparks fly as the two collide. Dusty finds herself sinking in deeper with Shane and the mystery of what happened to her brother–and a lengthening list of victims–grows even stranger.

When everything comes to a head, Dusty focuses on one thing: What happened the night her brother was killed in the cemetery? She’s sure Shane is keeping a secret and she’s determined to find out what it is, one way or another.

Review posted on Way Too Hot Books

Buried Secrets was one tough book to label. New adult, mystery/suspense, romance, paranormal...That last one I didn't expect and it's probably what bugged me the most.

Storyline. So, we meet Dusty, eighteen year old girl, on funeral of her twin brother Nick. She's inconsolable and can't get over the fact that her brother was killed. Who jumps in? Nick's best friend Shane. Of course. Dusty tries to find out what happened and soon enough find herself in the arms of town's infamous bad boy. Quite predictable story. If you stop here. Emme Rollins didn't stop. That was my main problem with this book. It's almost as if you have two separated stories mixed into one book - love story and mystery and they just don't work out together. Other thing which I didn't like was ending. Paranormal part was a deal breaker for me. Until that point I thought that I'll at least like Buried Secrets because of mystery, but that killed it for me.

Characters. Dusty has a potential to be a likeable character, so does Shane, but, again, it's like in the first half of the book author decided to write new adult novel and in the second adult novel. In the first half of the book they are acting like kids, but later they are too much like those characters from cheap romance novels where they are all using this big words in intimate conversation that you'd never use in real life. But it's not just the way they are talking, it's whole setting (note: pay attention to Shane's cabin in the woods). The most interesting character was actually Nick, Dusty's dead brother.

Final judgement. Buried Secrets is a novel with lot of potential but it still needed lot of work to be just right.

ARC received from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Dear Rockstar, so when given a chance to read Buried Secrets I jumped on it. Knowing only that it was going to be a much different kind of story. I had no idea what else I was going to experience reading this. This story was so much different than what I would normally read, but I found myself completely sucked into it within just a few pages. Emme Rollins created a whole new world within this story - filled with friendships, love, a whole lot of conspiracy & mystery.

Dusty's story begins on the day of her twin brother, Nick's funeral. She had already suffered the loss of her mother years before and now losing Nick has her rethinking her future. Enter Shane. The resident bad boy and Nick's best friend. The guy that Dusty always thought wedged the relationship between her and her twin. But there is something about the look in Shane's eyes that makes Dusty believe he knows what happened to her brother that night. Something he is hiding.

As Dusty and Shane grow closer, they discover emotions that they both had buried over the years. But he is still the key to discovering what killed her brother and what is responsible for the other mysterious murders.

This book was packed full of some very intense emotional moments as they grieved the loss of Nick and discovered feelings they had for each other. Nothing was as it seemed for most of the book. This was my first horror - romance read and this kept my attention from page one until the last page.

Emme Rollins has a fresh writing style and has you falling in love with Shane instantly; really - who doesn't fall for the the misunderstood bad boy? Starting off the story with a bang, ensuring that your emotions were going to be raw from the start. Getting the chance to know both Shane and Dusty as they grew closer but also bringing out just who Nick was and what an important role he played in their story. A great second novel from the author that left me completely hungry for her next release.

Okay- let me start out by saying that I was torn on how to rate this book. The cover is HOT, the story immediately grips you right from the beginning, and Shane and Dusty's story is amazing, torrid, and sad. That being said- Nick, the drug company, the things destroying things and people, the unexpected flash backs you didn't know you were in, the sideline with Sam, threw me and made me rate it lower.

The author would take parts of the past and insert them into the story line but you didn't realize it was a flashback until you realized they were kids or Nick was still alive in them. That is what threw me for a reading loop. Then we waited the enter book to find out what killed Nick and everything from there seemed rushed. I wanted to know more about what happended with Dusty's step mother, we get a small tidbit about her dad, but what about her step mom? What happened with her father's company? What does the future hold for Shane and Dusty? I just felt like we waited so long to get that finally piece and then everything was rushed into a a neat ending, I guess it was just me being selfish. I was selfish because the things were learn about Nick and why he was the way he was with Shane and Dusty, is gut wrenching and totally did not expect that. I really thought something else and kudos to the author for that.

WOW. This book had me hanging on the edge! It exceeded the expectations I made for this. I've been going through books like it's chocolate, trying to find something new and different, and let me tell you, Buried Secrets is it!

I loved the characters and how they developed through the book, it was a breath of fresh air! Shane's and Dusty's relationship was so cute, I fell in love with it in a snap. Shane. *sigh* I do love my bad boys, especially this misunderstood bad boy, how could I not?

An autism boy. I've never read a book with someone autistic, thats when you know this book is different:) The only problem about this book for me was that it wasn't in first person but it's all coolio as the romance and mystery had me smiling, sighing and crying.

I'm telling you, i knew who the killer or having association with the murders was the moment they stepped into the scene. I swear down, i really did. I was jumping up and down on how I already solved a bit of the mystery! Next job for me? Detective.

Firstly i would like to thank Emme Rollins for giving me the honor of reading her latest book. I have read her first book Dear Rockstar and loved it and i knew this would be no different, even though this book was different than the first i loved it just the same.

Dusty is a fraternal twin, while she is the hotheaded on of the two Nick is the calm and collected one. Then one night Nick is found dead at the local cemetery and of course Dusty has to find out why and how and if it was murder by who., she is so determent to find out that she delays going to college, which she was due to start soon. The pain that Dusty feels after the loss of her brother was so raw it felt so real, it left me with tight chest lol . Dusty and Nick lost their mum at a young age, unlike then when she had Nick to comfort her this time its him that she is mourning so she turns to the only one offering her comfort bad boy Shane Nicks best friend. At the start of the relationship there is tension and many questions running around in Dusty's head about Shane as he was one of the last people to see Nick. She needs to find out why her brother was at the cemetery to begin with. Slowly secrets are revealed as another death occurs, was it a thing or someone who is killing? She knows Shane is hiding something but she doesn't know what , when he finally tells her she knows what she has to do..if you want to know what happens read it, you will not be disappointed ..

The relationship between Shane and Dusty develops slowly and it becomes a beautiful bond, even though they have known each other since childhood Nick always kept Shane away from his sister for his own reasons. The more time Dusty spends with Shane the more she relises he was a constant in her life and the more she relises how much he means to her.

I read this book in one day and i loved every second of it. It was filled with Mystery, secrets, love, tension, heartbreak and it was also HOT ..it also had me angry at a certain step mother who i wanted to punch in the head.

I recommend this book to anyone that wants a love story with alot of mystery and secret.

I discovered Emme Rollins when I read her fabulous book Dear Rockstar, which I loved. So I was really excited when Buried Secrets was announced. I was aware that it was a totally different kind of book…no rockstars…and I wondered if I was going to like it as much as the first.

As there have been so many awesome reviews previously written which include a lot of information of the story summary, I have decided to just write down my feelings and thoughts after finishing reading the last page.

Emme Rollins’s writing continues to impress me. It’s smooth, flowing really well, making it an easy read. Fast paced plot that keeps you glued to your seat, with unexpected twists and turns. You are kept guessing until the very end.

From the very beginning, the story pulled me in. The pain and sadness and loss that Dusty felt at losing her beloved twin brother was unbearable at times for me. There is no way one can truly understand her heartache. Having to bury a person she had loved with all her heart. How can one ever overcome such tragedy?

The vividness of her descriptions made me picture the setting that the story takes place in, really well.
The small town, the people and their reactions to the horrors happening around them is totally believable.

I liked the character development, especially of Dusty and Shane. Their growing romance is so sweet and lovely. I was totally engaged with these two.

A good mystery, filled with suspense, horror, friendship, family and a lot more that just kept me intrigued until the very last page.
And if you like a good love story, some added suspense and thrills, then get this book.

I am once again blown away by the quality of Emme Rollins' work...well and truly blown away...

While NA/YA is not usually a genre I read, I do make exceptions, and after having read Dear Rockstar I was more than happy to pick this one up to review. After reading an author and loving a book there's always a bit of apprehension in picking up a second...will it be as good, or was the first a fluke? Thankfully I needn't have worried!

In this romantic suspense novel we are given the story of Dusty, who has just lost her twin brother Nick. He's been murdered/killed in a mysterious manner and Dusty feels the need to figure out what has happened. Who wouldn't, right? I think that was one of the things I loved most about this novel - it felt so real. Dusty's feelings and actions are closely examined throughout much of the book and I found them totally believable - this is how a girl who has lost her twin brother really would feel and act. We are immersed in her grief, and feel it deeply. No, this is not really a depressing novel...don't worry...there's much more to it. Dusty also explores her feelings for Shane, Nick's best friend. Their young romance is sweet and touching, and Shane will make many book boyfriend lists for sure. He's so much more than Dusty ever knew...and she doesn't understand why Nick didn't want them together while they're alive.

The mystery in the book unfolds as Dusty and Shane decide they must take matters into their own hands. As more bodies appear, they discover what's been hidden at the town cemetary...and who's been involved. I won't reveal anymore...you must read this for yourself!

A great, page-turning read...couldn't put this down! 4.5 stars

Is there anything you can't do Miss Rollins?? First off, I loved Dear Rockstar AND Dale sooooo much. I mean, who wouldn't lol!
But I had no idea she was capable of this. I am a really picky reader so I didn't really know what to expect going into this book. I tend to stick to the dark romance genre, but Emme managed to keep me intrigued!

Okay, so this book had me feeling like Sherlock Holmes at times; I was right there next to Dusty trying to figure out the mystery behind her twin brother's murder. Nothing was adding up, and I was pointing my own fingers at possible "suspects".

I felt so sad for Dusty. Her whole view of her life was completely blown out of the water throughout the entire book. I really liked seeing her relationship with her brother through the flashbacks. It was easy to pick up on their personalities.
Shane, swoony swoony Shane... I can definitely see why Dusty felt the way she did about this guy. He was Nick' s best friend. The one who stole her twin and took her place. I get it. I may not be a twin, but I've been a younger sister all my life and know what it's like to be shoved aside so to speak. SHANE. I love him, he's so sweet. I loved loved loved learning Shane and Dusty' s history together.

I also really enjoyed how this story had multiple layers. Dusty is finding her true self while uncovering the many pieces to her brother's murder puzzle. She also discovers that nothing is ever as it appears.

I finished this at like 3 am. Bad idea… I knew I'd have nightmares, and I did. Wahh lol. But in a way it's good because it had an effect on me. Not all authors have that ability.
THREE CHEERS FOR REALLY SCARY DESCRIPTIVE IMAGERY !!! Hip hip hooorayyy!! :))))

OK, wow, so that was freaking cool.

Let's see if I can get through this review without any spoilers. Let me start by thanking the author and goodreads for providing a copy for an honest review.

Emme Rollins literally had me in tears within the first chapter. We meet Dusty in a closet, at a funeral. We learn the funeral is for her twin brother (not a spoiler, see the book blurb). Her grief is raw, and real. If you have ever lost someone important to you, Dusty's pain feels true. It was actually painful to read. Enter Shane Curtis, um brother's best friend, local bad boy, and hottie. Dusty realizes there is more to Shane that what she has been seeing for years. Together they are determined to find you what or who killed her brother.

I loved the way the story was set up into three parts: Suspicion, Accusation, and Redemption. The story moves at such a fast pace you actually feel like you are watching a movie instead of reading a book. There are a couple twists I didn't see coming There were a few I had an inkling about but when the reveal happened it was told in a way that you were still a little surprised.

Highly recommend

This was a great book. The writing was excellent. I thought it was going to be one thing and turned out to be something completely unexpected. I like it when an author can catch me off guard most of the time - and this was definitely one of those times. This book is about love, loss, grief, acceptance, pain and the horrible things that can happen in life. I laughed, I cried - more than once, and I laughed some more, I was afraid of what would happen sometimes. It was the first book I've read by Emme, but certainly will not be the last.

It's funny how the things you sometimes tell yourself aren't true. How you keep yourself from that bit of knowledge because you think the pain would be too great if you accepted it, but would it really? This book is about Dusty finding out what happened to her brother the night he died. It's a long road for Dusty to figure out what happened, and Shane is right in the middle of it. She know that Shane knows something he's not telling her, but what is it? And what is she willing to do to find out that information? This is one of the best roller coaster books I've read. And it's worth it.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Emme Rollins has a way of grabbing the readers attention from the very beginning and keeping it throughout her amazing novels. Starting the story at the brother of the main characters funeral really makes the reader want to carry on reading and find out how Dusty and the people around her will cope with their grief. As we watch Dusty grow and mature we as the reader feel as if we are taking the journey with her, watching how she deals with not only her own sadness but also everyone around hers reactions as well. The romance between Dusty and Shane just adds to this stories brilliance. As we see how they both deal with there heartbreak but finally come together. Watching their love grow from a strong dislike to a burning passion just makes the reader even more attached to these characters. Overall this is definitely something I would recommend everyone to read and not many people would have guessed the ending of this story.

This was a quick short murder/suspense type book. Unfortunately I found myself skimming and just wanting to get to the end to find out how Dusty's twin brother was murdered.

My reaction to what happened...

Then there was Shane, her brothers best friend who was hiding something from Dusty.

Sometimes black is white. Sometimes white is black. Sometimes we're really not who we appear to be at all.

The romance between the two of them was nice but maybe this genre just wasn't for me.

If I was to compare this book to the Author's other book, Dear Rockstar, the other book would win hands down x

Dusty's (The main character)pain seemed so real it kept you turning the pages from the start, I had to try real hard not to read it all in one sitting. A mystery that needs solving before too many more people and pets get hurt will keep you turning the pages. Including the death of her twin brother and school football quarter back. The romance between Dusty and Shane as well as their tight knit group of high school friends is believable. This would be great for teens but it does contain some sex scenes not suitable for all. This was the second novel Emme Rollins I have read and I just love her style!

I want to thank the author and the Never Too Old For YA Books group for this free copy.
Here's my review:

WARNING! It may contain spoilers!

There were things I liked and things I didn't like much in this book.
The story was good and the characters too. But some moments were too slow and boring and I found myself not very interested. Other moments were good, some were very hot, some cute and sweet, some creepy and a little horror-style, and others made me almost shout "Noooo! Don't you dare! Not him!" like in the end of chapter 19. I think you were trying to kill me, Emme, uh? God, I was ready to rate the book 1 star if something happened to Shane. My laptop was at risk of being flown from the bed in a fit of rage and disappointment. But it got lucky I didn't have to do that. Good for me!
My favorite character was Shane. Although I didn't agree with all of his choices, especially past ones. He was still my favorite. He was so lovely, sexy, cute and HOT!!! Very Hot!
Dusty was a difficult character but I felt very connected to her. It was hard to be in her head and she had these changes of mood that made my head spin. She also was a bit depressing at some moments, that's one of the reasons I found the book a little boring at times. But I can understand her. I would feel the same in her shoes. The loss of a loved one, especially your twin is one of the worst things in the world.
I loved Shane and Dusty as a couple and I enjoyed their first meeting when they were kids. It was cute!
Their friends were nice too. I was also very sorry and shocked for what happened to Ryan and Jake.
I didn't like Nick at all. Even though we didn't get to see much of him, what I've seen was enough to make me think of him a spoiled and selfish brat. While everybody thought of him as a caring and protective brother and a good boy, he was all the contrary. Protecting his sister my ass! He was acting for his own good and motives! He behaved poorly and made his sister and his bestfriend suffer for years!
I also didn't like Julia and Dusty's father. Actually, Dusty's father made me sick. A weak man and he sucked as a father. Julia was a control freak and a little selfish. And a woman with no sympathy at all.
Sam was.... well, he was a little creepy. Even before knowing all the truth, I knew there was something off with him. And he was also too obsessed with Dusty. Made my skin crawl a little. I was also sorry for him a little, for how people treated him at times and for his bad luck. But still.
The story was good, but too tangled up and confusing. And maybe a little too long. But still a good story.
The epilogue was cute and I could let out the breath I was holding since what happened at Shane. I was too worried.
All in all, a nice read.

First of all I would like to say my thanks to Emme Rollins for an opportunity to read "Buried Secrets" just for the honest Review.

Let me start this review from my opinion in general. I gave this book 4.5 stars. It was easy, entertaining and exciting read, though there were some parts that left me with questions, I still enjoyed the book very much.

The story begins from very sad moment and keeps that mood for a while. That's what actually went hard for me - first several chapters, because nothing was really happening and it got me quite unsettled. Thankfully not for long, because after that I couldn't put it down.
Dusty, eighteen years old freshly graduate from school lost her twin brother Nick in a tragic accident (or was it?) In my opinion, there was too few information about what happened to Nick in the beginning, I seriously was very curious and had nothing to satisfy my curiosity with.
As the story was progressing, Dusty was trying so hard to understand what happened that tragic night when her beloved brother was lost forever. No one could help her at home, her father doesn't know himself how to deal with his grief and her step-mother seems to be an ice queen. Local sheriff of police just brushes her off and try to win upcoming elections. So Dusty turns to only person who seems to trying to do something about Nick's death - his best friend Shane and her enemy. That's where everything becomes interesting. Dusty and Shane have history of their own, history that for years was just buried deep down thanks to Nick, who somehow put himself in between. But now there is no Nick to stop the avalanche of feelings that surface.
Call me hopeless romantic, but the love story part was the best. Sweet, sensual, intriguing. It was very smooth, like they actually went for several dates before something major was happening. I also liked how their relationship affected Dusty. She finally was able to clear her head and turn her quiet and unsatisfying life around, exactly how it suppose to be.
The end actually was quite shocking and even a bit gruesome for me. And once again very sad. Silly boys took guns in their hands and tried to deal with unknown by themselves, it turned out well almost for no one.

It is true that some secrets are better stay buried, however, not in this case. Only after all secrets are revealed readers can understand all tragedy and horror of this story.

AWESOME!

After "Dear Rockstar", an other totally different masterpiece. I was riveted to the book.

It goes straight to the jugular. First scene: the burial of Nick, Dusty's twin brother. Heart wrenching scenes, intense grief I took it all. I felt Dusty's pain and anger in my soul, her need to put the blame on someone. I recently experienced the death of a loved one and remembered all the pain and the loss. Each kind word offered is difficult to Dusty. The quote "killing someone with kindness", is so true.

Then comes the numbness, the "mind scissors" to cut painful memories. Her family doe not seem to grieve and goes on with life, forgetting Nick. Her stepmother "Miss Manners" is always proper and her dad works like crazy. Dusty suffers from their lack of warmth thinking "Nick's gone and I'm all they've left ... and I'm just not enough to get excited about".

Another gripping quote that's so, so true to express the fear of losing someone's memories and go on living your life : "I'm afraid. I'm afraid to leave. I'm afraid if I go, I'll lose Nick. I forget the way he used to si on the counter and eat ice cream out of the carton with a spoon though he wasen't supposed to. I'm afraid I'll forget how he used to whistle aal the themes to our favorite shows. I'm afraid ...". I truly sobbed reading these words...

Now, all what Dusty wants is unravel the mystery of Nick's death. She is uspisious and collects clues, tries to solve the riddle. She is relentless in her pursuit of the truth and crave revenge.
I tried to guess who or what killed Nick (you know, like reading Agatha Christie) but had no real suspicion till late in the book. Emme Rollins keeps us off track for a long time. Is it a beast that killed Nick? A rabid animal? A shapeshifter? A human? On and on I went for a long time.

Throughout the book, Dusty and Shane story is growing, adding some hot moments to the book! It's a journey on memory lane, on missed occasions and fogged souvenirs. How the truth is not what it semems.

And the end is worthy of the best horror books. I was riveted to my Kindle, out of breath. I wanted to scream "Run Dusty, Run! (would have frightened my neighbours).

Truly a fantastic read!

Congratulations Emme, you amazed me once more!

-FYI this review contains small spoilers -

I really didn't know what type of book this was going to be, it ended up being mystery, romance, and paranormal (kind of, I think). It was not what I thought it was, I thought it was going to end up being a werewolf type of thing, thank goodness it wasn't.

My reactions while I was reading this book were apparently so dramatic that my husband asked me to tell him about the book. At the point where Dusty finally finds out, he was like "really? is it all that?" and I was like "YES!" My two reader friends have already downloaded it and I am definitely recommending this to everyone, it went on my favorites shelf.

My favorite things about the book were 1. Dusty - She was not a brat, she was not needy, she was not annoying. She was strong, smart, and determined. Dusty was so different from a lot of the female leads in the YA adult category. 2. The explanations for Dusty's father's and Julia's reactions over Nick's death. At first I was disappointed in them, but the two scenes: Julia and Dusty at the table and Dusty's father in the garage, I needed those scenes to help me understand them. 3. The details - the Twizzlers at Dusty's house after the funeral - the guns in that steamy scene, that was pretty awesome.

My favorite quotes :
"You've been the light of my whole damned life..."

"Is that what couples did, throughout a lifetime" Protected one another, turning around and taking turns rescuing each other as needed?"

"Being born into this planet was not guarantee of anything, even a life."

"No, don't" she said with a smile, wiggling up against him. "They make me feel sexy." <-Favorite!

What I didn't like about the book - not much, just some of the typo's stopped my in my tracks when I was reading, I had to go over the line again in order to read them correctly. Also, some of the things Shane said sounded too deep. Guys don't tend to go on for a paragraph in a sweet speach about how they love you. One line is pretty much as much as you're going to get.

Oh Emme Rollins, how I love thee. Let me count the ways. I’ll start with the heroes in your books. *sigh* I wish they were real. First it was Dale in Dear Rockstar and now it is Shane in Buried Secrets (a new addition to my book boyfriend shelf).

Next it’s the stories, the ones that leave us entranced for a few hours as we run away to this world you’ve created. They give us the inability to actually put the book down when we should be doing something else (like sleeping – who needs sleep?)

I can’t forget your heroines, they are so much like us when we were that age. They are real. We can feel their pain, relate to it on some level. We also totally get their attraction to the bad boy.

This is another amazing book from Emme Rollins. Shane, the bad boy, Dusty, the good girl, and a murdered brother who lays between them. Nick always sheltered Dusty from Shane, he didn’t want his little sister mixed up with the bad boy (his best friend) in town. Now that he is gone, Dusty wants to get to the bottom of his murder. The explanation from the local sheriff doesn’t ring true to her.

I was up and down right along with Dusty and Shane. Emme is so good at bringing those emotions out in the reader, making us feel what her characters are feeling.

I’m afraid to go too much father because I don’t want to give spoilers at all.

It was just an awesome read.

I loved it.

I loved Shane.

I loved Dusty.

Except for like 30 seconds when my mouth dropped down because of what she was doing.

I had a feeling it was going to go there but man…. I really hoped it wouldn’t.

I’d tell you what it was, but then why would you read it?

You should just grab a copy and read it yourself.

You won’t regret it.

I love Emme! She writes amazing books and this one blew me out of the water. I was guessing the entire book, I had like 100 theories by the time it got to finding out the secret and who or what was causing this chaos, some of my theories were right in a way. Some secrets you would of never guessed, it was like what....I never would of guessed. I don't know what I can say about this book without giving anything away. I'm happy after Nick's death Dusty and Shane were able to give their relationship a shot, it's sad that it had to happen that way, but stuff happens and reasons to why Nick tried to keep Dusty away from him, later come out. This book is full of mystery, edge, loss, tragedy, corruption, suspense, heart break, friendship, love, humor. I simply love it. It's something new and fresh and I think everyone simply must read and get a kick out of this book, you will NEVER expect it to take the turn it does! Love it <3
I only wished we got a bit more about how the monster came to be and hope there is another. What happens with life after, her dad? Julia? Will there be cute Shane babies? Will they get away from the town, what happens! I would like to know, but if it ends, it must and was a pretty good ending!

Well done Emme! I am so impressed by the author she is, truly wonderful.

Some quotes I loved:

"You've come over to the dark side. And I think I like it."

"Let me take it back. Let me spend the rest of my life showing you how much I want you, how much I've always wanted you. If you let me, I will."

"Always have. Always. I'm so sorry it took me so long to realize it."

"I want to be with you forever."

"Shane. I love you. I want you. Just you. For the rest of my life. If you'll have me."

If you have not read anything by Emme Rolllins, do yourself a favor and discover this gem of a writer. I read Dear Rockstar, a new adult contemporary romance novel, and I loved it. She has now written Buried Secrets, and I LOVED it! It's completely different than Dear Rockstar; it's a new adult dark suspense novel. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. It's horror, suspense, and a HOT romance!!! This may sound crazy, but it reminded me of Stephen King's Silver Bullet but with a lot of romance thrown in!

Dusty has lost her twin brother, Nick. The police are saying it was an animal attack, and Nick wasn't the only who has been killed. There are others that have died, and one person is missing. Dusty thinks Nick's best friend, Shane, knows more than he is saying. She wants answers from him, but the two of them have never seen eye to eye. But since Nick's death, Shane has been supportive of her and is showing that he has deep feelings for Dusty. She has always had feelings for him but have kept them hidden. Can they put aside their differences to discover who or what is responsible for these murders? How long can they keep fighting their feelings for one another? When they finally discover the unbelievable truth, will they survive? Let me give you a hint: DOWNLOAD THIS BOOK!!!! You will not regret it.

Can't wait to see what Emme Rollins has in store for us next!

This was a great story. I loved it and will for sure be looking for more books by this author.

This is the story of Dusty. The books starts out with her in a closet at a funeral home thinking about her mothers death & funeral. You think she is reliving it, but come to find out her brother has been killed. Her brothers best friend, Shane, finds her in a closet and is trying to coax her to come out. She is not dealing well with Nicks death, but it is her twin and I am sure that would be hard. She knows that there is something funky going on with his death, she just needs to figure out what. Shane, Nicks best friend, has had a crush on Nicks twin forever and has never acted on it. He now wants to. Dusty is supposed to be leaving for college, but can't leave her brothers death unresolved. Plus no others have died from this mysterious thing that is killing people. She decides to hold off school so that way she can find out.
This is a great story about a girl trying to forget those that have died and realizing that she is still alive and to live life.

I loved the story. Made me so sad for Dusty. I loved the characters, especially Shane. The perfect crush material. Totally threw me for a loop on the killer. Definite recommend.

I got this book from the author, free of cost, in exchange of an honest review from my side.

Firstly I would love to thank Emme Rollins, author of Buried Secrets for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this book.

This story is really great, full of emotions and truly soul touching. The author did justice to the characters and the plot as well and I really loved the development and blossoming of Dusty through out the book.

I cried and felt sad for Dusty and I couldn't even imagine the pain that she suffered and felt desperate for consoling and soothing her. Yup, the author made the story that much alive that you'll feel yourself to be a part of the story and of Dusty's life as well.

I really would love to appreciate the writing skill and style of the author which is remarkable and the way her pen draws the other into the world of her own imagination is really wonderful.

The suspense was well kept and would definitely push you to think and keep guessing at every point but the twist the story took at last is really unpredictable and I never guessed that at first.

A must read for all of you who would love to read a great story and I'll bet that you won't be disappointed by the story.

Buried Secrets starts out with Dusty's twin brother being murdered. Everyone says it was an animal attack, but Shane her brother's best friend acts differently when it comes to questions about that night. So Dusty is bound and determined to find out who or what murdered her brother. Her whole world is turned upside down now. She doesn't want to go to college, and she doesn't want to be around her parents any longer either. Not only that but the feelings she's had for Shane are starting to come into play, and she's not sure what to do about. Especially with Shane keeping secrets from her.

I have to say the way Dusty's pain is described all through out this book was so good, I thought I had just lots a brother. That made the book good. But at the end when we find out what happened I have to say I was very disappointed. And I also ended up hating Dusty's brother. I think he was a selfish jerk, and he hurt Dusty more than anyone ever has. But no one really blames him for it. I couldn't stand him. So over all the book was okay. The ending was disappointing but other than that it was an interesting read. Very well written too.

WOW! Emme Rollins has done it again. I loved Dear Rockstar and totally loved this one. It has a little suspense, romance and death. This one will pull you in from the beginning with Dusty hiding in the coat closet at the funeral home at her twin brothers funeral and will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride until the end. How does she go on living without Nick, her mother died when she was 14 and she doesn't know how much more she can take. And trying to get people to tell her who or what killed her brother is like pulling teeth. No one is willing to tell her anything. Will she be able to accept what she learns or will it destroy any future that she might have with Shane? Shane happened o be Nick's best friend and has been in love with Dusty since the day they met. Buried Secrets is just what the title says, can you live with knowing the truth or are you better off not knowing. If you enjoy a great story with loss, romance, suspense and a little horror, then you need to read this one.

Received copy of this book for an honest review.

I will be honest and say that this NA suspense is not something I read often, but, like Emme Rollins has done before, she has produced a great read. Buried Secrets will you keep you interested throughout. I found myself impatient for the mystery to unravel, and was surprised a couple of times by the twists in the plot. In full disclosure, I will say this: In all, it was a different but enjoyable read for me, and would definitely recommend it (especially to fans of suspense/mystery).

*This book was provided by the author for an honest review.*

For a moment there at the end I didn't want to finish it, I was so afraid to finish it, but I've done it.
This book was so full of mystery and drama and tragedy. I felt so sorry for Shane and Dusty, for what they had to live through.
And I feel so sad about Nick. To have your life in front of you and lose it just like that.
This book was so mind opening. I got to think of our feeble existence, our ephemeral existence and I realized that we don't live enough, we don't spend our time for us but for others, either by being too engrossed in our work or our routines.
But I also learned a lesson, I will not continue to waste my precious seconds and I will make everything to have more free time with my family and share the love that we have.
So thank you Ms. Rollins for this wonderful read, but OMG you can really dish those killings. My pour heart doesn't stand so much death you know!

First I want to start by saying that I find myself extremely lucky to be a part of Emme Rollins street team. I was honored to receive an ARC (advanced readers copy) of this book.
Emme said this book was a page turned and she wasn't kidding. Once I started it I couldn't put it down.
As the reader you can genuinely feel the emotion that the characters are experiencing. I cried right along with Dusty as she struggled to come to terms with the events unfolding in her life. See how she grows and becomes a different person while searching for answers. Shane tries to be the rock that Dusty needs while he still holds on to his emotions and buried secrets.
Emme did an amazing job with bringing the characters to life and changing them along the way. I don't want to reveal any Buried Secrets so pick up a copy and hold on for the ride.
