DC Hall is obsessed with argyle socks, the smell of books and believes he is the smartest person in the room. Granted he’s usually alone when he thinks this but it still feels good. When his nose isn’t stuck in a book, DC is usually writing or trying to teach his dog, Brooklyn, how to wash dishes (success remains elusive.)

DC is the author of up-and-coming YA novel “Cuspian.” He lives in the south where the teas are sweet, distance is measured in minutes not miles and the skies are Carolina Blue.

READ IT !!! I really enjoyed this book,it's one of these where you think you know where it's going and then it it changes ( in a good way ). I loved the way the twins are with each other, the plot is fab it just wants you to read faster so you get to the point where it all is resolved . This is the first of the series so naturally I can't wait for the story to continue so I know what happens next. Well done DC Hall a brilliant and gripping Story...just need the next one now ! ;)

This book was absolutely awesome.. The plot was well thought out... The characters were developed nicely. Just when you thought you knew what was coming next there was a twist. The villains leave you wondering just how bad they really are? The bond between the twins is almost tangible.. I REALLY enjoyed this book...I can't wait to see what's next.

I loved this YA read from DC Hall. The characters, twins Kendal and Kennedi were fully developed, enjoyable and most importantly believable. I will not give too much away in this review but to say, murder, mayhem, mythology and a good dose of teen angst left me wanting more. And NOW! I will be waiting for the release and not too patiently.

Just finished reading ‘Cuspian’ in record time and let me tell you, I did NOT want to put this book down until the end. Both Kendal and Kennedi who are the main characters of this novel, kept me on my toes whole though their journey in figuring out their identity and the powers that were bestowed on them because of the nature of their birth. Usually, I am not so good with YA novels, but this one changed my outlook completely and I am glad I took time to read ‘Cuspian’.

Kendal and Kennedi, the twins, are introduced to us in a traumatic situation which takes place in the beginning of the novel. Their Mother, Kimberly is killed in a robbery gone bad at their house and both kids struggles to come in terms with their tragic loss. Their Mother’s best friend, Savannah offers them all her support in helping them to tolerate with the reality after Kim’s death. But Kendal and Kennedi has their own personal demons to fight too which they do relentlessly. Life is not the same without their Mom around and the twins are on the verge of a breakdown. Enter, Chancellor North, Kendal and Kennedi’s long lost Dad who insists on taking them under his wings. This doesn’t sit well with the twins as they do not have any memories of him and Kim never mentioned anything about their Dad except that they are divorced and that Chance doesn’t belong to them anymore. As far as the twins see it, their Dad chose not to have them and abandoned them long ago. So why would he be interested in taking them back so conveniently after their Mom’s death? But against their wishes, Chance bring them back with him to his place and life takes an interesting turn for them from that point on. They learn many things about their Dad who was a stranger to them until Mom’s death. In the process, they learn about their own Mom- some, hard to digest and believe and Kendal and Kennedi develop trust issues. They seem to realize that they are not who they are and the life they have lived so far does not prepare them for the life they would be living from now on. Things get more complicated when Savannah enters their life again, this time not as their Mother’s best friend but as an Agent of mysterious ‘Conservatory’ and she has only one mission- acquire the twins and hide them from the eyes of the Conservatory. Hell, why else she would plant herself in Kendal’s and Kennedi’s life by acting as their Mom’s best friend all these years? Kendal and Kennedi is shocked at Savannah’s change in demeanor and becomes wary of Chance as well since they hardly know the guy. Life gets more complicated with the introduction of more people like Tripp, Beau, Logan and Jacen.

Did things turn out well for Kendal and Kennedi at the end?

Can they evade Conservatory for whatever they are after and lead a normal life with their Dad in the town of Eureka?

What happened to Savannah? Did she succeed in ruining the twins’ life or destroyed her own in the process?

You will find answers to these questions if you read ‘Cuspian’. The author, D.C Hall has done an amazing job of keeping the suspense. The story line is fast paced and the narration sometimes gets humorous in the least expected situations which make the story even more endearing.

A tale told by a pair of fraternal twins, Cuspian tells the story of Kennedi and Kendal Myles, two close-knit siblings who find their lives shattered when their mother is murdered. After their father, who abandoned the family years ago, arrives to take custody of them, strange things begin happening. Kennedi can suddenly hear other people’s thoughts, while her brother, Kendal, is plagued by a force that threatens to cause serious injury those around him. Then they learn that they’re Cuspians, individuals born during the period of time when one astrological sign is receding, while another moves into prominence. As one character explains it:

“[Cuspians] are born on the cusp between the stars with two destinies: one of unspeakable good or unimaginable evil. ... Cuspians have abilities to help them fulfill their true destinies.”

Cuspian, the first in a series, is ultimately engaging, and ends with a tense, cliff-hanger ending. You know, the “Oh-my-God-when-is-the-next-book-coming-out?” kind. The mystery surrounding the origin of the twins’ powers is intriguing, and although the narrative voices aren’t really that distinct from each other, the author is still able to develop the twins into two distinct personalities. However, I certainly wouldn’t call this book a finished product, just yet. It could use a lot of trimming and tightening of certain elements. More specifically, pacing is inconsistent throughout the novel, and tends to lag in between big events and important revelations. Some events that occur are confusing, and the cliffhanger ending leaves some questions unanswered that may annoy some readers.

The verdict: very readable, but not the best it could be. The story is dark, and gets pretty bloody and graphic towards the end, so I’d recommend this for fans of dark fantasy only. Recommended for Ages 16-18.

CUSPIANS: those born on the cusp between two astrological signs who have enhanced powers depending on what signs they fall between. That is who twins Kendal and Kennedi Miles are, but they have no idea what it means. When their mother is brutally murdered, they must live with their estranged Dad in Eureka, CA and that's when things start to go awry. There are plenty of family secrets, and the more the twins dig into their Mom's murder, the stranger things become for them. Enhanced powers, a mysterious family friend and a shadowy organization who wants to kidnap them force Kendal and Kennedi to mistrust everyone around them.

This was a unique and interesting idea. The story itself is inventive and the author did a good job of letting the reader get to know Kendal and Kennedi through their inner thoughts. Their powers are revealed slowly creating great suspense. Unfortunately, this book is riddled with so many typos that it jarred me out of the story continuously. And not just a few typos, there were multiple ones in almost every chapter. The book needs the eyes of a good editor. I'm also not a fan of authors who fail to wrap up any of the story line threads and just leaves everything as a cliff hanger. Cliff hangers are good, of course, but nothing is resolved in this book.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

4.5 stars!!!! When I was asked to beta read Cuspian I felt so honored. Knowing DC and understanding his love for books and the adventures they hold was something we both have in common. When he told me the premise of Cuspian I was right away interested, as the term was something I'd never heard of. When I cracked open the virtual binding and began reading I knew I was in for an adventure. Kendall and Kennedi Myles are twins with special abilities. After a traumatic and devastating family misfortune, the twins reunite with a father they've never known. As their powers continue to strengthen and they tread new territories being with a mere stranger in a new town, the twins begin to realize that what they think is all in their heads is reality. Facing high school in a new school, having to meet new friend, and staying on guard is more than either Kennedi or Kendall expected. What's written in the stars besides the constellations is something only Cuspians know. Hold on tight, it's going to be a whirlwind of a ride!

What an amazing book. I was so hooked after the first chapter. Desmond Hall has created a mind blowing story and world that begs me to stay in it. I have fallen in hopeless love with Kendal, Kennedi, Chance, and Beau and it is all due to the awesome genius of Mr. Hall. The twins have had a shocking and rough life learning their trust has been mistakenly misplaced in the wrong things and people. But with Chance and Beau, comes change, a saving angel, and a new life of learning and self-discovery. This amazing book will keep you on the edge of your chair constantly crying for more. The ending will leave you breathless and begging the author to continue. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who loves a great and heart-filled story. I am waiting for the sequel but not patiently.

Cuspian was a great read from first-time author DC Hall. I was able to empathize with most of the characters enough to understand what each felt during certain situations. Whether it was Kennedi's eagerness to connect emotionally with her estranged father, Chance, or her twin's, Kendal, hesitation to do so, one could feel the emotions flowing through the pages.
If you are interested in paranormal or young adult novels then this is one to read. DO remember it is the first in a series so questions were left unanswered and multiple story lines introduced. However, each were interwoven admirably and I cant wait to find out more about Chance and his family.

Cuspian by DC Hall was a fantastic read. I applaud Mr. Hall for his debut book. It's storyline was original, captivating, and intriguing. This is obviously book one in the Cuspian Series and I cannot wait for book two to see where the story goes from here.

This book keeps your interest from start to finish, it's the kind of book you want to stay up 'til the wee hours in the night because you don't want to put it down.

Cuspian has a good plot, great character development and a believable story world. I give Cuspian five stars and highly recommend it.

4.5 stars...what a creative and fun debut novel from DC Hall. Such an innovative and interesting concept, characters with depth and substance, and a story that definitely leaves the reader wanting more. And there is that cliffhanger thing...so eagerly anticipating the next one. This book is a delightful read marred by some editing issues that will no doubt be corrected. I did have a bit of difficulty following some of the intricacies of technology but that's not DC's fault, it's mine. The bottom line is it's well written, very creative and lends itself to a curl-up-on-the-couch kinda day.

Life from twins Kennedi & Kendal Myles comes crushing down when their mother is brutally murdered. They go to live with their dad that they hardly know, They set out to find the murderer and discover they have powers.
They are Cuspian's, there are more secrets and it seems that their mom's death was not just a murder.
Great book, also for YA, can't wait to read the next
