The ménage scene was good but not nearly as great as the second sex scene. As an author you have to get across a specific message and when it comes to erotica or erotic romance then the message is all about passion and emotion. As a reader I need to feel that. Even a simplefuck sex scene must evoke some kind of emotion in me, and I'm happy to tell you the author sure accomplished that with The Dare. Come to think of it, the second sex scene was much more than a simple f@ck. Dayum! I really loved it and I also liked
Katy is a self-admitted prude; she is inhibited and reserved and isn't really aware of her beauty. However, when it came to sex she could turn into a wanton and sensual woman. I'd say she has no problems whatsoever in that department when she Katy wanted to please Evan. That's the reason she agreed to have sex with a stranger. So, when she hit the sheets with the handsome Adonis, she was overwhelmed by his sexual prowess, his passion and determination.
When To a certain extent I must agree, considering that she is highly intelligent. Yet on the other hand, I must cut her some slack because she was very inexperienced when it came to men and relationships in general.
It's been a long time since I read my last book by Karin Tabke and I'm super glad I picked up this hot little number! Granted, there is nothing new to it, yet it is compellingly written. Great dialogue, well placed humor, wonderful characters , sizzling hot bedroom action, and fabulous chemistry between are the perfect ingredients to win my heart. Absolutely worth reading. Gimme more!

The Dare is book one of a four part series. I would have preferred one single book, but I know series are good for business. Anyway, I don't mind paying for a few very good novellas, yet I expect them to be as great as the first one.

5--I Dare You--Stars!!
After finishing Breaking Bad and meeting Simon and Katrina I had to jump right in to this series. Where as Breaking Bad was a full book, this series is broken in to four parts!
It seems the recurring theme is heroines that are dominant, strong and independent woman by day but like to be controlled in the bedroom.
Katrina is no different. She's been dating Evan for 6 months, though they have to keep their relationship hidden because they work together. Katrina has never had an orgasm.
While in town for work, Evan dares Katrina to invite a man to their bedroom.
Simon is a cop and is also in town for work. He and Katrina previously bumped in to each other at the hotel and their was some definite sparks. Simon is the obvious choice for the third person in the threesome. And he accepts!
Evan turns out to be a....
There is definite chemistry between Simon and Katrina and Evan can't seem to handle. When the truth about Evan comes out, Katrina is left once again hurt emotionally. She swears off guys but Simon isn't going to let Katrina go easily!

Surprisingly, given her normally prudish ways, she accepts and off they go to her room for one night of fun.
"Now, are you in or out?" ~Katy
"I'm in and out, fast and furious, down and deep." ~Simon
When it is all said and done, Evan is having a hard time with how Katy reacted to Simon since she never reacted to him that way. Long story short, Evan is a pig and Katy rids herself of him.

Seriously sexy but serial... I snatched this one up for free when it was thrown in my direction. I've had a couple of paranormal romances by this author for awhile and have heard amazing things. After reading this, I can see the allure. This woman can drag you into the story in a page or two...and talk about setting up a naughty, titillating story and delivering a scorching hot sexy times! Yes, I was sweating it out for nearly this entire book. Hot, hot, HOT!!!!
However, I will say that I'm somewhat bummed about the page limit to each installment in this series. Sure, I got this book for free. Next 100 pages is $2.99, with two more installments in the works. At regular price, this regularly sized book (a tad on the long side, for sure) will end up costing about $12.00. I will only spend that much on an ebook that I've been DYING to read from one of my TOP favorite authors in the world. In fact, I'll likely just go buy the REAL book so that I can share it with friends. Granted, this isn't quite the typical two chapter serial that's been coming out lately but still. That being said, it definitely seems as if this book was written to be broken up like this...the stopping point for this installment was a pretty comfortable place to pause.Back to the book...I will most definitely make sure to read the books by Karin Tabke that I already have. This chick can write, and her ratings show it. Will I be purchasing the next installments in this series? I'm ridiculously tempted, because this sh*t is GOOD sh*t...we shall see. I really want some more of this sexy cop and his tentative new lover.

Wooh! Liked this one. I'd say there was definitely more sex than storyline but as long as the sex was hot who cares right? I actually really liked Karina and Simon was so sweet.
Looking forward to seeing where the story will go with these two. Short sexy and sweet and still an Amazon freebie!

What is with my book choices lately. I just want something I can dive into, enjoy, and not notice the flaws. There were too many flaws here, and I didn't really care about the characters. Katy keeps saying how insecure she is, but doesn't act it. And, I had to endure 40% of her being with an utter and absolute asshole - Evan - who, it turns out, was cheating on his wife with her!! Green Eyes, aka Simon, isn't really much of a character at all yet. And honestly, I think that Katy needs some time to figure herself out before jumping into something else.
I can't say I'm at all inspired to go on with this serial (which I don't know why I didn't realize that's what it was when I started.

I really liked this and for that reason alone, I'm pissed that it was a short novella. It ends on a cliff hanger and now I have to wait to find when the next books in the series will be available. UGH!
Kat is a brilliant scientist and as with many people with high IQ's, she doesn't know when someone is using her or lying to her. She's been dating Evan on the sly because there's a no fraternization rule at work. Little does she know that Evan has another secret, which prevents them from getting closer. She will find out soon enough though.
While at a conference, she drops her papers in front front of a stunning man with green eyes that draw her in immediately. Later Evan dares her to pick the guy up and then have a threesome. The sex between all of them is HOT, HOT, HOT! But it ends with the stranger, later to known as Simon, not happy with how Evan is treating Katy.
Once Katy finds out the truth about Evan, she swears off men. But not before she has one more sexual encounter with Simon before she runs away convinced that he's just another in her history of bad choices in men... But is he?
Like I said before, I'm really upset that it's not a full book and I can't finish what's happening now. I just hope that the rest will be available soon.

Every time I read Ms. Tabke, I remember why I enjoy her so much. Her cops are so sexy real. There is something about them, the way they behave which just tickles my fancy. Then I read her bio and realize she writes what she knows; she is married to a cop. It shows in her writing.
Dr. Katrina Winslow is an ivory tower kind of scientist. She's good with the research and testing. When it comes to some common sense, she misses some key tip offs. This is never as apparent when she realizes why her boyfriend is not willing to take the next step.
This story is a bit odd as it flip flops between boyfriend and fuck-buddy designation. Just a minor thing which bothered me. This is easily overcome with the delicious kinky menage. Ms. Tabke writes steamy sensual sex which just the right detail. Totally panty moistening goodness! The menage is hawt yet ends in a bit of an abrupt libido killer. In Karin Tabke newest book, The Dare, the author takes the child’s game of Truth and Dare to a whole in level. Sometimes it takes accepting a Dare in order for the truth to be revealed. The Dare is the First novella in a four book series. It’s perfect for an afternoon read.
After Katrina accept a Dare from her boyfriend Evan to invite another man to join them for a night of pleasure, she can’t help but be drawn to the man, Simon, whom she had met early that day at the hotel they were staying. It’s an evening Katy won’t soon be forgetting, in more ways than one and this is where the story really takes off. She learns some truths about Evan that will rock her world, as she knows it.
The characters that Karin created had such depth that I felt drawn into the story, that they felt almost real. In addition, the fact that The Dare was a short story and it still accomplishing this feat totally amazed me. The story kept me thoroughly engaged until the very end.
Katrina is a smart, strong and fiercely independent woman, who is also filled with many insecurities, after having been abandon by several men in her life, including her father. This leaves her feeling, she isn’t good enough to keep any man around. Katrina keeps a tight rein on her life and her emotions. She trusts no one.
Till she meets Simon, whom she is naturally drawn to from the first moment they met. Hell, I was drawn to Simon, he’s not only smoken hot, he had the patience of a saint and seem to have an intuitive insight on what Kat (his nick name for Katrina) needs. After finding her drunk at the hotel bar, he takes her to his room and cares for her. When Simon held her hair while she is puking, it put such a grin, ear to ear, on my face, thinking to myself what a perfect Gentleman and where can I get one! It’s also during this time that Kat drops the walls around her heart long enough to confess some of her desires to Simon. Again, Simon just melted my heart as he listened to Kat, helping her understand herself better.
The next morning, Simon offers her the chance to fulfill some of the confession of last night, asking her to trust him. And to my delight she does. These were some hot scenes, filled with great sex and the start of a self-discovery journey for our heroine Kat, shedding her inhibitions.
After Simon is called away from the room and Kat’s enormous insecurities, a series of advents unfold that causes Kat to run.
I knew when I started reading The Dare that it was the first book in a series of 4, so I knew the chances there was going to be a cliff hanger at the end. But I wasn’t prepared of my reaction! I let out a shout and felt like I wanted to cry when I read the last sentence. I NEED THE REST OF THE STORY NOW!!!

Though I have several of Karin Tabke's contemporary erotic and suspense novels on my shelves, I've only read her historical romances (medievals that I loved). When announcements of THE DARE were accompanied by several enticing snippets on FB I knew this was going to be my first encounter with Tabke's contemporary voice.
Katrina is a controlled and inhibited woman who does not let herself go and indulge the sensual side that's lurking beneath her conservative demeanor and appearance, until a dare turns everything she knew about herself and her lover upside down. It’s the start of a new path in her life, a path in which the way is led by a hot cop called Simon.
In the writing of this highly erotic book, Karin Tabke doesn’t pull any punches. The sexual scenes are described without embellishments and she calls everything by its name. I love that. Speaking of the sex scenes. They were hot and those involving Simon were very sexy. You would expect that an erotic romance story of less than 70 pages , would be dominated by them but it wasn’t. Next to the steamy scenes I was also treated to backstory on Katrina and some development of her character too. It showed Tabke’s writing skills go beyond just great erotic scenes.
Karin Tabke takes the known game of Truth or Dare and spins a spine-tingling first installment in a 4-part series that lightly touched subjects like ménage, voyeurism and bondage. It had some expected and unexpected twists. I cannot wait for the next part so I can read what happens next with Kat and Simon. Though I usually avoid and don’t like reading serialized series with cliffhangers before I have all installments, I really enjoyed THE DARE!

A relatively short erotic story that must continue on three other parties. Usually I rant against this kind of process because I love spending time with the characters.
Here, the author manages to bombard you with emotions in a very short time and suddenly, like the heroin, once the last words are told, you do not know where you live but you expect to find out more about soon.
Katrina is working in a laboratory doing research. She is a brilliant scientist kind of shy. But her boyfriend, at the time, dare her to try a threesome. On the spur of the moment, thinking to please her partner and having a crush on a charming policeman, she indulges herself in the daring game.
But the evening turns into a nightmare when her jealous boyfriend tells her he's married...
I loved the emotions and phases through which the heroin goes: fear, desire, pleasure, shame, sadness. I also enjoyed the mixed feelings left by the little cheating rascal, and the gentleman policeman who becomes her lover. For once, the trio will not live a happy fairy tale but juste a moment. A creepy and beautiful moment that feel real.

I was in a mood for an erotic novella and this one doesn’t disappoint! As always, Karin Tabke knows how to write a hot story! Although it’s only a short read, it’s very well-written and the development of the female main character is obvious.
Katrina is a scientist and with her boyfriend are in a conference. While having a drink, he dared her to pick a guy and have a threesome. Although she was very shy she did it and soon she found herself in the hotel room with her boyfriend and a very hot cop. And there she had amazing time. But the problems started afterwards when she realized that she didn’t know all the truth about her boyfriend.
I liked Katrina a lot! She was shy and daring at the same time and she’s the kind of woman who is afraid to admit what she wants (at least after a while!). She has some trust issues (with good reason) and it’s easy to see that she only wants a good man to be with.
And the hot cop? Well, Simon is way too hot! He’s a dominant and he saw since the beginning that Katrina’s boyfriend was an idiot. I believe that he’s exactly what she needs. And yes, I want to read more about him!

Oh my goodness...this novella is packed with a humongous punch. It was more than I expected. Tabke is a wordsmith. The opening scene grabbed me and never let me go. What a way to lure readers in, and keep their attention. My heart s still racing. Every page had titillating scenes, and Tabke never really gave you the chance to settle your heart rate. I'm very intrigued. I can't wait to see what the next instalment reveals. I really like Simon...I mean really like him :). I mean, who doesn't love a HOT COP? I am curious to learn more about him, and the "evidence" Kat found on his computer.I love the juxtaposition of the dual personalities within Katrina Winslow. She is not what I expected at all. I love he fact that she has vulnerabilities despite the character we first meet. Love Rosie...she's the epitome of that friend every young woman living alone needs to have; the quasi mom, and constant friend who lends a shoulder when needed. I get the feeling she is going to be a riot. If you haven't read this yet, why not? I think you will enjoy The Dare series.

She'd nearly done it, she'd nearly got me to like the characters and the storyline. Unfortunately though she didn't quite succeed, I managed it till about 30% but just couldn't get myself to carry on. The main character is a bit annoying and I have a dislike to characters whom are proclaiming to be shy and naive when their actions don't match. The writing itself isn't too bad, I think that's what kept me going for a while, it is the story and characters that I just couldn't continue with.

Have tried to read this several times. Back and forth to reviews to figure out what’s going on. See that there’s cheating. Off the list. Back again. Finally finish but really didn’t enjoy it. Evan yuck. And looked ahead so it seems like not worth finishing the series just for the hot scenes.

I hate cliff hangers but I knew I was going to have to read the rest of their story. Katrina, who has some real self esteem issues, finds herself in a relationship with her current boyfriend and wants the relationship to move to the next level, actual commitment. At a conference, he dares her to pick a guy out in the bar for a threesome. She's never done anything so sexually daring but she sees Simon in the bar with his hot cop buddies and decides he's the guy. So the threesome occurs and the results of that threesome put's Katrina's life on a totally different path. She finds out the boyfriend is married, unbeknownst to her, and fate puts Simon back in her path to help her get over her breakdown because of the choices she has made. Simon lets her know that if she was his, he would never share her. This segment ends with Simon being the hero and in pursuit of Katrina after she runs. At first I had doubts that this wasn’t the book for my tastes, though it intrigued me and I carried on reading and I am glad I did, as it wasn’t a messy love triangle that I first feared and a rather steamy beautiful story.
Katy (Katrina) is a shy scientist and works with her boyfriend Evan of 6 months, though as there is a no fraternizing with co-workers rule, their relationship is kept a secret.
During a conference trip, Evan dares Katy to take one of the cops in the bar up to her room. Not sure if he is serious or testing her loyalty or scared that if she says no that he will walk.
The events that follow after that night change everything and where broken hearts and doors close, new doors open.
The book is well written and I love the writing style of Karin, she has captured the narrative and katy’s POV and merged them effortlessly.
Katy is very likeable and so is Green eyes AKA Simon and I can’t wait to read more about them.
Only 8 chapters long, the book hooks you in and you will definitely buying the second book in this series.
